Really enjoyed the premise but there were too many annoying parts to this story, mostly the characters. The author attempts to do comedy from it but they r too repetitive, and most s*upid reasons/actions repetiveness. If not for that, I could've kept myself going, already forced myself to read this far after all...

This is really nice, even if it is a cultivation manwha, characters actually feel like they are alive, instead of acting like cultivation maniacs, they actually think about things that don't have to be cultivation related, as such it's already better than most chinese cultivation novels.

But here's the problem, the story feels like its way too 1 dimensional, they only ever show new stuff when MC needs it so there's never any tension, it feels hollow, and you could literally just guess what could happen next.

How about MC? He's pretty... more>> okay, sometimes childish and irrational but smart for the most part.

Now for the comedy tag, I've never really laughed at misunderstandings that the MC gave off as.. They aren't not funny at all, a tad bit amusing but I didn't really feel like it's "comedy", as great as the misunderstandings are for the MC, it doesn't contribute to other parts other than just strengthening mr. MC, it's not bad, sometimes boring, I'd rate 3.5.

Its definitely much better than some of those cultivation novels that boost MC to the heavens as it isn't immediate and works with common sense (in their world atleast) , it's nice to see a cultivation manwha that doesn't start inside a weak sect where MC is the weakest and gets lucky with sh*t 100% of the time, so all in all its readable, sometimes irritating but that's what make it a proper misunderstanding novel. <<less

It's fine overall and a good pastime read.

But there are many bad points:

  1. Many characters were just introduced and left alone.
  2. Relationship between his harem is not developed.
  3. Ending is really rushed and last 20-30 chapters are not written well.
  4. All characters just starts worshipping the MC in 2-3 chapters, for no reason, just that he is too handsome.
  5. There are many plot holes too.

This is a novel I can't help but have mixed feelings about.

As a comedy, it's great. As a story, it's quite lacking. For the first 200 chapters or so, it's very funny, and you don't really mind that it's lacking in various aspects, because it's enjoyable enough, and you can hope that the author will put more effort into it later to make up for those aspects.

Unfortunately, this doesn't happen, and I can only recommend to take a break from this novel the moment you stop enjoying the comedy. The... more>> good thing is that while chapters are pretty long (I guess twice as long as average chapter length in Chinese webnovels, or at least half longer), the story isn't very long (510 chapters in total). I guess the author realized how lacking the story was, so he ended it when the protagonist and others ascend to the next world. This is kind of good, but I also find it regrettable that the author had never fleshed out the story. There are many plot holes and forgotten plotlines and characters.

The protagonist is nothing special, but he isn't an evil, arrogant villain, nor is he a killing maniac like some xianxia protagonists. Well, I think he's more of a "funny" protagonist, and there might be a hint of parody of all those transmigrator protagonists about him.

The other characters are pretty much just simple tropes. There isn't much depth to them. The only good thing about them is that a good number of them doesn't get forgotten as the story goes on (though it pretty much happens to some of those recurring ones at the end still). Still, I would have liked it if the author fleshed them out more, and built on their relationships with MC. Disappointing.

The only thing worth appreciating was that there were several twists regarding some characters. Sadly, the author didn't really make much use of them.

Cultivation realms are a pain, by the way. There are two mainstream types of cultivation: Qi refining and body refining (or whatever they are called, but it's all the same anyway). The issue is that the number of realms is the same for both types, and they correspond to each other in strength (ie. Second realm of both types has similar power, fourth realm of both types too, and so on), and yet they have different names. It's easy to get lost in it, but anyway, you just have to remember that geniuses can jump realms to fight stronger opponents (like always).

The plot, like I said, was pretty boring. The author sadly used some big time skips that made the story even worse instead of fleshing out the things that should've been fleshed out. Well, you can see that the author specializes in comedy, and doesn't really know much about adding depth to a novel. What he did write were events so common that you could literally know how to write them as long as you read several dozen random webnovels, and while he did write them properly, they were far from extraordinary. The main plotline ended, but considering the ending, perhaps there is or will be a sequel to the novel.

Like I said, it's more of a comedy than a novel as far as I am concerned. I really appreciated the comedy, and it's the main reason why I liked this story, but when I got bored of the same jokes, the rest of the story became somewhat of a chore to read (more or less the last 40% or 50%).

Thus, I recommend it as a comedy, but I don't recommend it if you want to read something with more depth. <<less

The faults first:

The exaggerated misunderstandings of the MC quickly get too much, even after less than 60 chapters. Hopefully we won't be bombarded with them going onwards now. At least not so much.

The world building and strength-/cultivation system and progression are shoddily done at best. I would expect this in fanfictions, where the reader already knows this stuff instead of an original novel.

... more>> That is basically it. Now for the summary of the first hundred chapters with as few spoilers as possible:

The MC is a (young) man who transmigrated into the body of the thirteenth prince of a kingdom. Said prince died from cultivation deviation which he suffered due to his extreme bad luck. Quickly, the MC takes notice of this and the fact that he can see 'halos' above peoples heads that show him both their "providence" (basically their luck in life and predicted achievement) as well as their lucky opportunities.

For most people that the MC encounters, that is in the form of buying a specific Spirit Ore, which has to be cut open to see if there is spirit stones (money) or other treasures inside. Basically, gambling.

The MC uses the method of prematurely giving people their destined lucky chances to raise his own providence from the level where he is guaranteed to be as unlucky as possible to normal levels.

From here, quite obviously, after many times of doing this, the MC is regarded as the Son of Providence, bringing luck to all those he favours.

My own rating would be 3.5 stars, since while it is good for a laugh or two, it has neither very good comedic value, nor does it convince in any other aspect. So, not bad for a short read, but not good enough to be a compelling story. <<less

After chapter 75 it becomes unreadable because the author spends 99% of text for explanations. In European novels authors know that explanations are the most boring part and they are trying to add events or at least short dialogues to quickly go through the setting to do the plot, Chinese authors often do not understand this simple fact and here we are, walls of pointless text and onlookers repeating the same words time and time again.

The beginning was fun and I had a lot of expectations, but unfortunately.

The plot idea... more>> by itself is pretty interesting - the guy participates in other people's luck events to increase his own luck.

But the author didn't find anything more entertaining than gambling on stones for random folks.

Most of the treasures and techniques get unused even though author wastes chapters and chapters describing them and how the protagonist trains them.

Then suddenly, the protagonist decided to enter a sect were he teaches locals some pseudo-science (he remembers that it is possible to split water to H and O, but he forgot about the energy preservation, and wow, physics in a cultivation novel, how does it even work?).

Then, all the romance is pretty dead - he just ignores all the girls for no reason. And the romance ridiculous settings, such as "the one who finds xx have to marry the saintess", where this sh*t came from? Even Japanese harem novels for middle-schoolers are not that idiotic. What if she is already married or the one who finds xx is a enuch, an old fogey with kids, a ret*rd or a woman? Why would they destroy their own saintess' life. <<less

This is your average CN slapstick humor cultivation novel. The MC is kind of dumb and has low emotional quotient too. The side characters aren't that amazing or well written. The plot isn't that well done and has some inconsistencies here and there. This is all done so that the author can insert slapstick humor left and right and break the 4th wall every now and then. Also the translation by Atlas Studios on Webnovels is of bad quality.

Don't go in expecting something serious. Go in lightheartedly expecting to laugh... more>> at some brainless jokes. It's a "popcorn/junkfood" novel. 3/5 <<less

At this point I just had to drop it. The translation was pretty good but it often felt iffy despite decent grammar, it felt like some things were mistranslated or it just flowed weirdly. The issue wasn't there, however, it just added a bit of frustration on top of the disappointment.

This novel started out pretty good. The first 50-60 chapters had me laughing a few times, not going to lie. But, really, the author appears neither experienced or clever. The "jokes" often feel very forced and it quickly starts to... more>> grate on you as more crap is introduced. It has nothing to show in story, so the comedy is all it's worth, but the author fails pretty big at it, especially as the story goes on and flaws magnify while the author appears to take some weird direction that just feels... well, what should I call it, perhaps immature? Juvenile? Plain s*upid and weird/forced?

A gag comedy is supposed to be nonsensical to some extent, but this isn't at the level of funny nonsense or logical misunderstandings, it's just overdone.

It's not that noticeable in the earliest chapters, but later on we start seeing more and more idiotic stuff that's supposed to be funny and it's kind of missing a punch line, it's like a build up with no climax or ending which ends up frustrating.

The MC is supposed to be clever, but the references to modern day elements and the reasons for his actions feels unjustified. For example, he doesn't like a "tortoise qi armor" because it reminds him of the lecherous grandpa from dragon ball, later on other items are introduced like a turtle shield/armor that is best worn on the back and he doesn't want to do that either because it doesn't... look cool? Similar things are used for "comedy", like how his ability avatars are "small" and how the luck from the ring is "green", which hints at cuckolding and things like the hulk, just not funny.

He believes a fake mustache and new clothes is a good disguise and because others doesn't mention that they recognize him for various reasons, he believes it's a foolproof disguise and gets surprised when people recognize him. He refuses approaches from women because he "doesn't want trouble" and gives crappy excuses, not even if they throw themselves at him will he do anything. He frequently pisses women off while going "oh, women are so unreasonable" by being completely oblivious to their feelings, once again supposed to be funny, then he doesn't even understand why they're mad. He bickers about not wanting to share fortuitous encounters despite proving that taking less than 50% doesn't give him more providence anyway. He starts bringing in modern day science for no reason, at this point one even questions what the f* a "fortuitous opportunity" is supposed to be since him telling a guy about it also counts. This guy is useless, clueless and frustratingly boring to read about, he's NOT the kind of guy you'd like to self-insert as.

The other characters also tend vary between being boring, infuriating, annoying or idiotic. Let's go case by case. First, we're introduced to the eunuchs. Both are soulless yes-sayers whose biggest wishes seems to be to get the protagonist laid, as they never fail to scream about it whenever a woman appears, the young eunuch because of the recurring "gag" that he thinks the MC will r*pe him otherwise, haha, so funny, especially when it's not even developed and just pops up every now and then as a single line "gag".

The women are all the same, really. All of them almost instantly fall for his peerless looks and because of tiny good will gestures like giving them their fortuitous opportunities. Seems like deep love is a on/off switch for the author and it's prone to be flipped in a few chapters at most. After that, they're not really developed more and the MC avoids them. Seems all women in this entire novel are focused on love, looks and getting in the mc's pants for no good reason and all of them fall so deep in love that they're closer to maniacs than anything else, because they'd likely do anything for the MC and is at stalker level creepy, and this without a good basis.

Then there are the useless crowds of leeches that pretty much start a cult around the MC after he led them to cut some ores, after that they polish the way he walks with their tongues and fawn over him at every single opportunity, it's supposed to be funny how exaggerated they are and how they treat the MC like some god. Ha ha, I'm laughing so much. The women version of the cult members just want his babies.

Every single male introduced are hopelessly one dimensional, little to nothing in terms of character. The sword maniac that's just crazy about the sword and nothing else, the junior brother of the sword maniac that's just pathetic for the sake of being pathetic, the king that gets like 2 lines, the older brother whose only personality trait is to fear the MC because of his bad luck, the sacred ground leader who's only emotionless and teases his senior brother, the research guy that adores the MC and likes explosions, instantly turning into an underling, the guy that likes one of the females whose only purpose in life is to hate the MC because he can marry the saintess he had the hots for for no reason, the rumor guy whose only purpose is to know everything around there and spread rumors everywhere while claiming he won't, oh, I'm laughing myself to death here.

The worst character in the entire novel, I must say, is the guy that showed up after the saintess was introduced, a money grubbing old bastard senior brother of the sect leader. He rubs me in the wrong way so extremely that I felt like dropping it solely because of him and he was probably 50% of the reason I couldn't keep on reading for at least a bit more. This is one of those unreasonably greedy idiots that see nothing but money and feel endless pity for themselves and zero regard for others. He thinks he's pitiful for having "bad luck" and he frequently robs people everywhere. Now, if he kept this behavior solely to enemies, that'd be fine, but he actually does the same to everyone and the author thinks it's motherf* hilarious. He eats others stuff, ruins mountains/sect spirit veins by absorbing all their essence, tries to ruin even more but is stopped, has clearly stolen endlessly from all over the sacred ground as everything avoids him, if he uses their sect's transportation methods, he'll steal the spirit stones powering them, if he borrows something, he'd rather eat it or trade it for money than return it, claiming it was stolen or something else, he steals from the same side and tries to extort everyone. He also tries to leech off the MC, wanting to be his teacher and stealing all the stuff he was supposed to get from the sect, he thinks the MC is probably gonna be unlucky so he doesn't want to be his teacher but then when the MC earns money he tries to steal at least a part of it. Sorry for the rant, but I god damn hate this character. I hate him more than c*ckroach enemies that always come back after dying or almost dying. I feel an incredibly amount of disgust. Just imagine yourself in that situation, with a greedy bastard trying to steal everything including your stuff despite being on the same side, betraying your trust. Nah, mate, such a person is better off euthanized for the good of the world. And this guy is supposed to be hilarious... Damn. About the same level of "comedy" as people screaming because people raising their voices in anger or disbelief is "funny".

I also feel like the author spends more and more time writing explanations that make zero sense and simply doesn't matter for the story. What my teachers used to call "crapping words" for self-explanatory reasons. No one cares about worthless trivia that might not even be accurate down the road and certainly won't be relevant since it's at most a comedy novel with nothing else to show.

The world is plain weird as well. It often appears that cultivators can't generate spirit qi on their own and have to rely on spirit stones to cultivate, but it's never truly stated. Like there being a "money cost" to using abilities, dude, if spirit qi gathers on its own, why would you measure it like that? The cultivation is also ridiculously shallow despite having a lot of useless explanations, because all of them seem to warp forward, especially the MC that randomly skips several minor realms, so cultivation is hardly relevant here except for text walls of useless explanations. It appears just absorbing spirit qi and having a "technique" (or sometimes not having one) is enough to rapidly advance.

I absolutely do not recommend this. 1/5 stars. Maybe a younger audience would like it, I remember I liked things I hate now when I was younger. Even then, however, there are so many better novels out there, so why bother with an inferior one? <<less

Hmm, not sure how I feel about this.

At first, the toadying was pretty dumb and annoying to read, but I enjoyed the premise/MC's cheat.

The characters got more interesting as MC found equals (not followers), and I really like some characters, but...

I'm just annoyed at how he's collecting all the girls. The author feels like they're throwing at harem at the MC for him to collect, and that's not my type of thing. It's also pretty badly done and I don't feel anything about some of the girls. I really like... more>> the Saintess, but even then I feel like the author dumbs her down and makes her fall in love with the MC.

Also, it seems like the author's trying to poke fun at normal CN cliches, but... in the end it feels like I'm just reading the cliches.

Anyways, I feel like I'd rather read Library of Heaven's Path over this any day, since they give me similar vibes. <<less

I'd say average rating of 3.6/5 at the time of this review is probably fair. Although I did give it 4 since I liked it. It has some interesting ideas with the start being quite novel/fun with the MC efficiently farming "fortuitous opportunities" and getting treated like a saint while trying to scam everyone.

As far as the drawbacks I'd say it's that plot is overly recycled and that ending is rushed. As far as recycled plots go ... more>>
Spoiler

Every time he meets a female character they literally fall in love at first sight. For example one female character is about to beat up the MC as her brother's love interest fell in love with the MC to get justice for her brother. However moment she sees the MC she then pivots to trying to hook up with the MC instead and admits her brother can't really compete with the MC. This happens with pretty much every female character or they get given a fortuitous opportunity and believe it's a confession and then fall head over heels in love.

Whenever the MC has anything good happen his Eunuch sidekick says Concubine Lan (his mother) would be happy/proud in heaven that MC has done [insert deed here].

Every time he happens to stumble upon an inheritance the old grandpa character will say that MC is handsome and looks just like them in their youth. In addition after getting defeated while sparring they'll claim that MC isn't bad but is a bit weaker than them when they were that age. I think here author is even less creative than with love interests as they use literally the same sentence over and over again.

[collapse]

The ending I think is rushed but I think it also occurred since the author was running out of ideas and wrote himself into a corner. The start is quite interesting but problem is that if MC does gain every power inheritance in existence then MC quickly becomes overpowered at which point his enemies pose no threat and his only issue is how to deal with all the people that fall in love with him... <<less

CONS: Characterization of the side-characters got annoying real fast. The over blown misunderstandings, the misguided reactions, the s*upidity of the women in it. Due to the redundancy of those things from start to finish it became stale and tasteless by the end. I'm sure Author was trying for a comedic effect but repeating those storyline again and again each chapter just ruined it for me.

I enjoy reading this to pass time. It start of MC got isekai in cultivation world as the 13th prince that was known as unlucky. He could see halo above people, he planned to stick with those people who had good providence and guide them to their fated things. It was funny because there's a mix comedy here. The premise is interesting but it's kind of ruined by the simping and forced drama.

I like stories with luck based abilities, and MCs with bad luck halos can be a lot of fun. But any scenes where the MC is cool are ruined by random women throwing themselves at him. Like, complete strangers shouting "my darling is so handsome!!" Things are always way over dramatic too.

There are still a few funny moments. The story is obviously not meant to be taken too seriously, and I do find the MC referencing... more>> random modern things and confusing people to be amusing. But the harem elements are impossible to ignore, lots of brain-dead female characters who exist just to feed the MC's ego. (I'm talking s*upid to the level of threatening to kill themselves if they can't marry him less than an hour after meeting him... like, really?)

So yeah, this isn't gonna get more than 2 stars from me and I'm dropping it. <<less

First off, I would recommend this if you just want something light (not morally heavy, not much killing till the end part, comedy, comical power ups) and easy to read.

Second, upon reading the last chapter, you might be disappointed as there is no sequel for this novel.

The book simply ends with the disappearance of the mortal world and ascension to a new realm, hinting the possibility of new sequel book. With how the story ends, however, leaves an unfulfilled feeling in one's mouth, as if you were about to or**sm... more>> but realize you suddenly became a Saint with clear thoughts.

It's frankly quiet annoying, but novel seemed to progress with no loopholes in story setting happening. Of course, the ending also seemed rushed, but it kind of fits the story this novel is: a cultivation Mary Sue kind of novel, filled with comedy and lacks drama, with little action until the latter part of the story.

Overall, I enjoyed it. <<less

Had to pause this story. While it is really entertaining watching our MC make his way from the depths of bad luck hell to normal human levels, the sheer awkwardness and chaotic relationships with girls that the author throws at him for what I assume is humor is getting annoying. It doesn't help that our MC is basically an idiot in terms of both IQ and EQ and feels like he has the mental age of a young teen. He clears up no misunderstandings and is very passive, trying to... more>> avoid obvious troubles just by "hiding". Hope it improves later in the story. <<less

First 70 chapters are spent on the same place, on the same place, on the same place. On. The. Same. Place.

Everything is all about a misunderstanding, a random conversation, a thought of a random, a thought of a harem member that is going to be dragged on because, comedy. A fight that breaks out of misunderstanding because; comedy. A development and random occurrences that occur because; comedy.

After reading the first 70 chapters and seeing how it all was spent on one whole place doing the same stuff nonstop, yeah, I... more>> was already disappointed even though I still gave it another chance.

Some say, if you get up to 150, you'll be able to read the rest... what?

That's not how reading novels work, my guys. You read if you like, if you don't like you don't read, unless you a huge piece of maso.

I'm not, and the fact that MC is straight up ret*rded mentally and emotionally because; comedy. Isn't nowhere near worth the reading, no wonder this author hasn't gotten another novel in the writing, or at least that has gotten outside of china, the only country in the world.

well I won't say much about the plot just brief summary and some of my thoughts-

Well it's almost like all those typical Reincarnation/ cultivation... Where young man from modern world get reincarnated into cultivation world after he died...

Summary-

Story starts with MC being transmigrated into 13th Prince of Country of Fire, as for the said 13th Prince died from Qi Deviation. It is known in Entire Country of Fire and its surrounding counties about bad luck of 13th Prince.

After MC wakes up and he realised that he has been transmigrated into another world and lager finds out about his way too bad luck, the siad 13th prince has suffered more then 60 times of Qi Deviations due to his bad luck.

MC finds that he has ability to see other people's luck and other opportunities above their head.

Well goodbye I'm tired and busy I won't write anymore just go and read the novel... its more of a comedy then cultivation novel.. it's mostly good for just reading causally, but if ur interested or want to read in depth I won't recommend it. As the story is not gone into depth Many characters r introduced and later left alone as story progresses. MCs love intrest and other shits r left alone only 1 of MCs daughter was introduced as for others children which should have introduced weren't introduced... story is way too fast forwarded in later chapter's...

SIGH BAD HABIT OF MINE CAN'T STOP TYPING BUT NOW I'M FINALLY DONE !!

I think the problem we all hate it that the translation is not that good, and it become inconsistent during the last arc as well which I can understand why people give it a 3 star, But I would recommend this one if you ran out of good novel to read, as a time passer.
