Status: epilogue pt1
Was pleasantly surprised! I didn't think it would be as full of depth or particularly unique prior to reading but it turned out to be a worthwhile read. Throughout the story, I found myself constantly laughing for chapters on end, and I also found my heart aching for each of the characters (outside of petitrolang lol). I thought it would be overly cliché and carefree, but it was handled well and was an enjoyable read for me, as it satisfied comedy, emotional depth, and romance aspects.

It was actually quite thoughtful and heartwarming the way Yeongdeok (or Dowon if you haven't read yet—btw that's not a major spoiler so dw) transformed throughout the story, and how the other "male leads" developed and changed gradually and not in a "wow, you're acting different so it makes you interesting." This is because while Yeongdeok does change aspects of himself, he is still himself, and the characters fall in love with him as he is regardless. Also, while stories with multiple love interests tend to drive me away, because either the characters are a bland harem-style or I hate having second male lead that I feel bad for, but for this one, I felt immersed in the feelings of the love interests, and I felt empathetic towards all of them and their feelings for Yeongdeok
Spoiler

(and as much as I love Jihoon (red hair), Seonwoo's (white hair) life-long love for Yeongdeok and Wonjin (glasses) only realizing his feelings too late really tugged on my heart strings)

[collapse]
Of course, it had some basic aspects that have to appear in any story with multiple love interests, that didn't change how they were well-done and impactful. I'm very happy that no love interest was really side-lined (well, Wonjin made less of an appearance midway), and if they were, it's cuz Yeongdeok wasn't talking to any of them. Each love interest had heart-touching moments with Yeongdeok, and they all played a part in Yeongdeok's journey and in helping Yeongdeok identify and acknowledge his feelings towards himself and the person he loves (wink wink). They all have refreshing and interesting dynamics with Yeongdeok, that make them stand out from the usual romance harem archetypes. On the other hand, Eungyeol, the MC of the original novel in their world, doesn't make much of an appearance, but he has good moments, helps Yeongdeok at times, and I like how he wasn't made out to be some villain. The character interactions and dynamics were all just so funny, heartwarming, and refreshing.

Anyways, while I'm also glad that while we did get a lot of romance, the story was centered on Yeongdeok himself and how he developed as a character. How he was lost and felt senseless outside of his goal of revenge, but then found meaning in life, his emotions, and himself was actually beautiful.
Spoiler

His romance with Jihoon was also just so cute and lovely.

[collapse]

Warning, there are some unsavory moments I personally didn't like (but they were not between Yeongdeok and who he ends up with).
Spoiler

in which Yeongdeok is kissed without his consent twice by Seonwoo (but Yeongdeok doesn't really take it seriously). Another in which Wonjin kisses the drunk Yeongdeok and grinds against him.

[collapse]

Outside of that, it goes pretty well, and the one Yeongdeok ends up with is not someone I hate at all or think he shouldn't be the final choice, I just originally didn't expect it before I read the novel though lol. He's very loving and caring towards Yeongdeok throughout the story, always by Yeongdeok's side, and never did anything weird.
Spoiler

(in one instance he did jack off to the thought of Yeongdeok while the other slept in his bedroom)

[collapse]
Anyway, I'm quite satisfied with him, and Yeongdeok clearly loves him and has a great affection and soft spot for him. They have a very cute dynamic, and I like how they're different than what I usually see in BL.

I've only finished the main story since currently I'm too broke to pay for the last couple chapters in the epilogue, but this story is lovely and entertaining, if you're looking for a mix of comedy and self-journey with a hint of romance, I recommend it! Keep in mind, if you want a story that heavily revolves around romance, this might not be your cup of tea, however, romance is still a relevant theme in it and crucial for Yeongdeok's self-journey, especially in the ending. Also, if you are looking for a smutty story, this is not it, there are some NSFW scenes but very few and not detailed (and they're basically a one-man show like m*sturbation or grinding while Yeongdeok isn't aware of it). There is smut in the last couple epilogue chapters but I have not gotten to them.

Absolutely lovely story. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed the characters. It didn’t go quite how I expected it to and that made it extra fun. It has a lot of overdone tropes, but manages to use them in a refreshing way. I definitely recommend this!!!

Reviewing early for now, will review again after I finish the novel. (I'm Korean, so I don't need to wait for the translations, yay!)

Read this novel until at least chapter 4 before quitting, I repeat, at least finish chapter 4. About then is where the plot starts. If you only read the first chapter and say, 'I'm getting cheated', well... you're not.

The summary says it all; it's about a possessive seme who learns that everything he is doing is merely just a part of an author's novel, and he... more>> decides to quit out of anger. Quit being possessive, quit loving the shou, quit everything he's doing, he would rather open a chicken shop.

It's not cliche, and it's not badly written, but I feel sad that it doesn't seem to be written to its full potential. The MC's worked for years in the company for nothing, fallen in love for the first time just to learn that he was being manipulated by the author his entire life, and then he falls out with his family and even dies, and his reaction is too meh. Sure, there's not a lot he can do except take petty revenge like this, but I still expected him to have a more violent reaction before eventually accepting the fact that his life is a lie. At least take revenge on the traitors and the company, too... but maybe he's the calm sort. I feel like it makes the MC feel less human, though.

Otherwise I have no other complaints. Decently written story, nice commentary, and I hate the author already, even though I'm an author myself. Feels like there'll be a lot of frustrating moments in this novel, so would be nice to also keep that in mind.

Will come back after reading more soon~~ <<less

This is surprisingly good. The protagonist is a pain in the ass lol, he has an a**holey natural reaction to people. It's funny.

He's smart but out-of-touch with a lot of things. He's also pretty emotionally stunted.

In the latest ch here, there're still no progression to their relationships yet, but I ship with the childhood friend guy.

... more>> I hope the other commenter finish reading it cos I wanna know what'll happen.

Tho I was wondering if the seme protagonist tag is correct? I was pretty sure he definitely isn't (he might have been in the initial story, but not after regression) <<less

This is a great novel. I will be waiting for the rest of the chapters to be free. The main character is unique as he is not able to understand his own emotions properly. He is slowly understanding the new emotions he has, and it is such a gift to see. I can't wait until he falls in love with the ML and recognizes his emotions.

Spoiler

He grew up striving for recognition, always trying to prove himself because he wasn't his father's biological child. His hard work was fueled by this need for validation. But when it was revealed that he wasn't his father's child, everything he had worked for lost its meaning as he was thrown out of the company. I think this reality check was very needed as he changed as a person for the better after the regression.

Although every time he does things differently, his reason is "getting revenge at the author." Very interesting; I will recommend it.

The translations is also great

(I thought for the longest time that Enygoel (?) was the silver haired guy on the cover but it was Senwoo (?).) <<less

An absolute delight to read, not only does our main character have such an abstract goal of not being casted as an obsessive top, he acts on every impulse to get him there.

Our main character is the cutest~ Though honestly found it funny that despite the complete 180* in lifestyle, what doesn't do him in is the colors or the taste, but the loud noises and physical aspects of changing his lifestyle. All hail chaebol bank savings!!

Main character is as dry as the Sahara desert, but the story features growth.... more>>
