Another generic romcom, in this case the MC basically has superpowers after working a shitty office job for years. All the antagonists are really s*upid caricatures of high school bullies, and the FMC is the standard super pure, super naive big tittied rich girl. It's not a bad read if you're not expecting originality or well written characters.

It's tr*sh but it's my brand of tr*sh.

Yet another "re-do the past" wish-fulfillment novel? That's what I thought when I've first heard the title. However, this one is actually quite well-done and it was an enjoyable read.

As stated in the title, the protagonist time-skipped from when he was 30 years old back to high-school with his memories intact. However, at 30 years old, he wasn't a NEET or "society garbage" but a respectable salary man, albeit at an not-so respectable company. This means he has an adult perspective on life, society and (non-romantic) work relationships. In a... more>> way, you can say that it makes him OP in that aspect. To give some examples, in high school, there are things that you've cared about so much and it's like life-and-death but when you've grown up, you've realized that it doesn't really matter at all. In high school, there are things that you're afraid to do just because you've never tried, but when you've grown up, you find that it's nothing scary. With an adult experience, he now knows what truly matters.

Is it wish-fulfillment? Yes.
Is it cringey? No. All the characters behave believably for their age and experience.
Is it enjoyable? Definitely. <<less

A story about a company s*ave who returned to the past after his death and decided to take 'revenge' upon his youth with his various experiences as an adult.

Everything the MC does came from experience, it's basically based on the delusion of "What will I do if I return to the past to get rid of regrets that I had in my youth?"

When I first read it on Syosetu I couldn't stop reading and I was grinning the whole time. I found myself to be very disappointed when I caught... more>> up with the latest chapter.

This is a heartwarming, stress-free web novel that anyone could enjoy (I don't know why some voted it 1 star maybe you're expecting a deep plot? I even wrote a review for the first time just because of the low rating to keep others at ease). But anyway, please give it a read!

Edit: The fillers are what makes this novel fun. The interactions between characters are what makes this novel great. If you are someone who demands quick progress then you should look into somewhere else because what makes this novel great in the first place is the slower pacing with realistic feeling of relationship progress (meaning the MC doesn't just travel back in time and woo'ed the FMC right away). [This is my subjective opinion just to note] <<less

Pretty standard romance affair with a pretty much "perfect" main girl, super kind, smart and naive etc.

The MC is, decent and basically uses his life experience to solve issues... sometimes it's a bit if a stretch like somehow working in an office makes him a master at making takoyaki... but you know it's still fun. He isn't perfect and does sometimes act like he left his brain at home and it does get annoying, but I guess it does somewhat make sense based on his history.

Best of all, the MC... more>> actually tells those generic bully types to f*ck off. Although the "villains" are pretty cookie cutter. As an example...
Spoiler

rich dude tells him to stay away from the girl and then tries to make a bet to stay away from her... to which the MC essentially says "no lol"

overall a decent read, certainly worth giving a try. <<less

Generic romcom story, with slow-paced plot. Tbh, I don't really care about that slow paced plot, because the Author writing styles and the character developments are great. MC is your average OP MC with straight-forward and caring personalities, but FMC is so pure and innocent but dense as blackhole. Also, the supportive characters are interesting, especially FMC's dad and MC's imouto.

Also prepare your insulin, because it's sweet, but at least it's not so sweet as other romcom novels (ex: Otonari no Tenshi. Tbh, I cringed so hard reading that novel... more>> series) <<less

this series does not include betrayals, revenge, ntr.... it's just an absolutely tender and cute story of how a 30-year-old guy goes back to the past to be happy and make his "special" person happy, each chapter is more pleasant to read than the last... perhaps my only complaint is that the 30-year-old prota (just like all the JP protas that come back)... it seems that he maintains an emotional intelligence of 12 years... hahahaha... just to say that I loved the series.. and that the author took it up... more>> again!!!!!!

the only thing I hope is that the translator won't drop it...

UPDATE

the translator left it at chapter 67 (it is currently at 110), a pity.
They are not even checking the page for donations or anything.

I hope that some more responsible group will take it and continue translating. <<less

Not great, but it's not too bad. Not quite a 2 star, but also not really a 3. Had a interesting start, then it had some obnoxious "rival" that was written so horribly that you can't even understand why the author would make such a s*upid rival at all, and it gets resolved with some Chinese style novel face slapping, which I hate to the core. The little sister is a c*nt, she helps him but also constantly acts like a b*tch, honestly she is not a good sister at... more>> all. But what I hate the most is that the romance barely progresses at all, despite being the clear focal point of the story.

My favorite quote from the game Skyrim is when you're going through the door to the Dark Brotherhood Sancutary, and the question you have to answer is: "What is life's biggest illusion?", and the answer is: "Innocence." The author has to constantly affirm how the FMC is a pure girl, he's really obsessed with it, she's hot, nice, pure, innocent, is popular but doesn't have male friends, the perfect girl. It's also the perfect excuse for 2 dense characters to never do anything despite blushing every 3 seconds during dialogue. <<less

Oh yes. 5 Stars.

Looking to get away from the action-packed isekai stories? Then this is for you. This is a really fun and heart warming story about a black company employee that was able to come back to the past and relive his life to the fullest. If you like ReLife, then you'll love this.

Other than the fact that this is a newer addition to the long title trend, I honestly think that it is quite a refreshing story. Our MC after regressing keeps his adult mentality for the most part and the best thing is that he is able to be assertive when the situation calls for it.

There isn't much else to comment but I'm looking forward to seeing how the story plays out.

Edit 1: Just two more chapters and I'm already loving the MC. He retained all the fine points of being... more>> an adult and is actively prepping himself to chase the heroine which is something that is extremely respectable compared to just relying on reincarnation as a plot armor.

Edit 2: This just keeps getting better and better. This is the first award-winning story in Syostsu that I can understand why it won awards outside of Otatenshi. The author got the psyche of the MC right on the money. A 30-year-old company s*ave in a 17-year-old body will inevitably behave like an adult despite the rampaging hormones due to the thick mental fortitude that he cultivated. Even so, our MC isn't a know-all and there are aspects of humanity that he doesn't have a clear idea about like goodwill and such but he is shown to be able to grow which for me, is a huge plus.

Edit 3: Holy shi! I can't remember the last time a Sice of Life story got me so excited. The Mc's character building is sublime and the characters around him are being slowly but meticulously built up in a way that feels completely natural. This is my favorite Return to the Past novel now. <<less

TL;DR

If you like romcoms, as well as their bad sides (no early romance), then this is a story for you. I persoanlly don't like such romcoms but this one gives it an interesting takes, mainly because of the MC.

Yes, even after 100 chapters, they don't become a couple, so don't expect anything when further translated chapters drop.

Really good story, the antithesis to isekai in a sense. Rather than having a 30-year coorporate s*ave reincarnate into another world where he can live his male fantasy with some OP powers and harems, he returns back to high school with his OP powers being his intense will to make no regrets in life and his experience as an adult. Especially the former I find really admirable and encouraging.

The experience as an adult kind of functions as a plot device sometimes, where the MC kind of solves issue by suddenly recalling how he had similar issue back in his coorporate s*ave days. Well, to some extend it makes sense, sometimes it feels weird because you had the feeling that the MC was a s*ave worker but then he suddenly reveals that he had been the one who made other people work more efficiently and encouraged them back then, so even back then he had the ability to encourage people, which kind of clashes with his image as a gloomy guy.

Still, the main driver of the MC is still his will to push through and make no regrets. It's his will that makes him
Spoiler

work hard, study, help his mom, encourage Haruka that it wasn't her fault, be kind to Kanoko, etc..

[collapse]
I don't think that's an unrealistic take.

Here some spoiler territory and why further translations might any people (Not translations but new chapters, I read ahead.)

Spoiler

So basically, he still doesn't go out with the heroine. There is a beach episode and one of these moments where the heroine avoids the MC, the MC panicks, uses his coorporate s*ave days and bows in seiza (OTL). Then it turns out that heroine had been avoiding MC because he said something to her when he was drunk; similar to that moment after the cultural festival, where he was extremely sleepy; heroine had been just too embarassed to face him, got resolved within three chapters, so it isn't too bad.

It still annoys me a bit that the story builds up this "will they eventually go out?" making me wonder if the story ends when they start dating, I'd hate that. It keeps the reader on edge by adding such events.

Early chapter is heartwarming wish fulfillment without too much drama. After 56 chapter, I feels like drop it out of nowhere. What can I say, they never even exchange contacts? fMC is super dense, but MC also dense for not knowing fMC already on his clutch. This story really slow pace, maybe the confession is on chapter 150+? C'mon MC, you already had 30 years life experience right? Even though he already read so many novel, hell even fMC didn't know about love from reading many novel like him. It's... more>> just too unrealistic. If she don't read novel, I don't mind for not knowing about love like some princess on top of castel like Rapunzel

Slow pace romance is not my thing huh... <<less

Kind of generic but on the other hand at least the MC has some qualities of being an adult unlike a bunch of the other was adult but reincarnated type shows. Another nice thing about this is the MC's mindset and seeing a MC actually try to take his life into his own hands for once, which is kind of uncommon. Also its pretty f*cking sweet and wholesome. As the other guy said, its tr*sh but my brand of tr*sh.

If you had a second chance to relive your teenage life, what would you do?

At the beginning of the chapter we are given the perspective of a man who has deep regrets in his high school life, If I have to be honest, it's very interesting especially about how focused this story is on how the main character is. Starting from character development, the reader is introduced to the regrets of the main character and what caused his life to be like that.

I was very impressed by how deep this... more>> story is and how dark the hidden themes are in this story, as someone who also has regrets from high school, I really understand and feel the pain of this main character and I must praise the quality given to readers. What I regret a little bit is how the author seems to focus too much on this story on the two pairs of main characters as if they are only part of the background.

As for the plot and plot, so far I'm still very impressed with how the author still keeps the story on track, though that doesn't mean I'm not against some things in the story. For example, the main character is too conspicuous as an adult among teenagers and makes him very unusual and I am a little biased towards the realist that should be in this story, even so I'm still open about how this story develops

For the rest I'm not too impressed and there are a lot of points that for me are still too lacking and I'm really looking forward to the continuation. <<less

Average, nothing really interest me, it's just basic slice of life with nothing really new. I've read too much that this one even doesn't really stand out.

This novel has that basic package. Delinquent messing up with MC, and got faceslapped. Beautiful and big titty heroine that will have miserable life in the future.

In my opinion there's much more better option out there than this novel. With much better storyline, character, etc.

This is a simple and lighthearted romcom story about a corporate s*ave that miraculously timeleaped back into his high school days and swore that he'll do it right this time around. Those things are finding job in a better company than the one he's in previously. Which also relates to his second goal, which is to never make his mother worried sick which leads to her death in the previous timeline. And lastly help the girl he likes but can't talk to so she didn't end up like she did... more>> in the previous timeline.

There will be ups and down throughout the story, but all of them will be resolved properly like the adult he originally was. <<less

This is your generic Second Chance Romcom novel, which I like normally. The reason I'm giving it a 3/5 (Or average), is because, for some reason, the characters feel like they are caricatures, like they are all reading from a script.

I try to immerse myself but that "Fakeness" takes me out of it.

This one is just not for me I guess.
