Oddly enough, it starts in media res, which can be pretty jarring, though that's because the main draw of this LN series is war battles. As such, the in media res serves to give the reader a taste of the large scale battles where MC is showing off his tactics that are the main focus of the LN before flashing back to when the MC first arrived in the world in a later LN.

This series is a kingdom building series where the emphasis is less on politics and more on... more>> war strategy. While MC is able to occasionally import technology from his old world, his main strength is applying military tactics that are far ahead of the approximate time period he's fighting in. That said, said tactics are far from invincible against the various skilled tacticians or the insane monsters the MC has to face off against; they are often able to form countermeasures while MC has to then develop countermeasures for those countermeasures. Sometimes MC has an easy time, but there's usually a lot of push and pull between the armies before the victor is decided. In the end, the MC is reliant on his troops to bring victory and can only do so much with his own skills.

There's a weird cultural quirk where comrades will refer to themselves as some sort of sibling while master-servant relationships are framed as parent-child bonds. It can be jarring, but it does give the sense that the various characters are part of one big family. That said, don't take it too literally, otherwise most romantic relationships becomes a form of non-blood related in*est.

Early on, any romance with the side characters seems like blueballing since the MC's main romantic interest is stuck in the original world and can only contact the MC during specific circumstances.
Spoiler

Once the main romantic interest resolves to move over and actually become the main wife though, she's completely open to the side heroines getting love. There's actually an interesting plot twist to explain why someone from the modern world would be ok with polygamy, but that's related to another bigger plot twist.

[collapse]
Either way, that plot development makes the romance a lot more tolerable than it would be otherwise, even if it never becomes particularly great.

Still, if you want tacticians trying to out keikaku doori each other, you'll probably have fun with this series. <<less
