it's about the fact that he was straight before and he finds it uncomfortable and all that jazz.

Ji Mian got his ability in a car crash accident. How did it happen..? 😂 His car was hit by an UFO. Then the alien touched his forehead and... Bam! Here comes the miracle!

Turns out the ML already has a boyfriend at the time he first met our MC. He really pampered this little boyfriend of his. But after the ML got his ability, he slowly opened his eyes. The little boyfriend is not as good as he thought. Because he doesn't have a background, he always wants to become somebody. He likes acting, his dream is to be a movie emperor just like the ML. But his prideful nature prevents him to depend on his boyfriend. He thinks that he is also a man, he wants to prove his own worth. He is overly sensitive, always thinks that others will look down at him, that's why he is painstakingly build an image of hardworking, diligent and talented newcomer. However, our MC is very talented that he has created crisis in little boyfriend's inner feeling. That's why since the first time, he doesn't seem to like MC very much, because of Ji Mian's subconsciously interest towards MC.

Despite of his dislike of his boyfriend getting along more with MC, the little boyfriend turns out doesn't like ML as much as we all thought. He is not a gay at the first place, being able to bend is mainly because ML has such a great handsomeness. But when it times to do intimate physical contact with ML, he subconsciously wants to avoid it... In the end, our ML just decided to end this kind of unhealthy relationship. Why bother about such a rotten peach, there is a fresh one right in front of him. Tender grass is more tasty and easier to chew after all... 😑

MC's friend, He Yi. He is also so pitiful. He helped someone from being gang r*ped. But after just few hours, he was arrested with charge of raping instead... He died in car accident after knowing that all of this was thanks to his own father, helped by the very victim he had helped before. The victim even dared to give him a call to inform him about all of this and called him "s*upid". Turns out it wasn't a gang r*ped. The victim herself happily had s*x with many scumbags, she got pregnant but no one of these rotten men wanted to take responsibility. And she was just 17... She framed her benefactor for the sake of money and got him indirectly killed. And about the baby in her stomach, she killed it because He Yi's mother wanted to do DNA test...

I also don't know the reason why a father (biological) could be so ruthless. He framed his own son and then migrated to Australia right after he sold the family assets to live with his mistress and illegitimate children. Although bad people got retribution in the end, He Yi was dead. I like this character very much... So sad 😭

I felt like an ex lover for ML was not necessary in the novel.

When the ML was thinking that it was ok from the ML’s mom to abandon him since she loved his father the most and he also likes MC the most. And also it was mentioned like the only person MC’s mom was soft for was Xiao Qijie, not even her own son and this made me so uncomfortable like its the opposite of what I have seen and experienced myself! Its not OK to treat your child like that even if you love your spouse!wtf is wrong with you

Secondly, the reason for MC to love ML was because he never had a father figure in his life? And if he had one he wouldn’t love the ML? Once again, wtf is wrong with you??? Why would you say that ugh that’s so weird

we have this supposed film emperor with a massive investment portfolio ranging from different companies/industries and a supposed golden manager who somehow were swindled by a person without power at all but is too good at acting LMAO. Film emperor/golden manager who cannot even properly screen through the talents they want to sign in the company. What a joke.

The ex is not a brainless villain and actually tried to be good. But he was spoiled by our ML so he was too naive and take our ML indulgence for granted. Meanwhile, our ML is not like the usual overbearing CEO type that only ever care about our MC. He has been gay his whole life and actually has a bf when he met our MC. He was obviously attracted to our MC brilliance. But he didn’t acted upon his attraction and only helped our MC like he helped other young artists. He also chose to focus on his bf, always reassuring him, and lowering his bottom line again and again just for it to be trampled on by his ex until he became too exhausted and decided to break up. Our MC is not the usual power bottom either. He is smart, handsome, and extremely talented. He is perfect in many ways and we love him. But he is not exactly a self-driven person because of his family situation. He didn’t really put in the efforts for acting until he was mesmerized by our ML acting. He was also quite petty at first as he enjoyed recording people NGs. Once ML and MC got together, they became quite irresponsible with their work and indulged themselves in love for each other, force feeding everyone around dog foods. They put each other first cause they both suffered a time apart because of a misunderstanding right when the romance got involved so I can’t really blame them for that but it was a bit annoying at times. Apart from the main characters, I also really like some of the side characters. I thought the complex emotions was good. A strong theme throughout this novel is redemption. Many characters in this novel made mistakes throughout the story. But in the end, it is hard to really hate any character because of their changes and growth and the novel goes by (except for the girl that indirectly killed the MC friend).

There are a couple of controversial points in this novel that everyone has their opinion on.

First, is the ML's ability to read minds and sense other people's feelings. He did not have it before and once he acquired it due to a car accident, his relationship with his boyfriend became impossible and his relationship with the MC became a possibility. He kept it a secret. Even though the MC and the ML agreed to keep no secrets from each other! Was it an invasion of privacy? Yes and no. Other peole's thoughts and feelings were simply there for him to hear, see and feel more clearly than for the rest of us who pay attn to people's gestures, face expressions, voice fluctuations and phrasing, etc.

Was it a "secret" that he had to reveal? No. We do not inform our loved ones about all of our abilities, nor do they really care. Some things either do not need to be said or better kept unsaid.

Second, many people liked the ML's first boyfriend and analyze their behavior and that young man's choices. In short, he was a straight man, not even a bi, a university student who got together with a much older gay man and that gay man paid for his school and later paved smooth roads for his career as an artist etc. In exchange, he alllowed himself to be bedded, the s*x was painful to the receiving party, zero pleasure, and he was pushing the ML away during s*x. Not normal, not good.

Once the ML knew that he was with a man with whom he was as sexually incompatible as a square peg in a round hole, their relationship was doomed. Who wants to torture their loved one? A platonic love and being a sugar daddy w/o s*x was clearly not part of his future family planning.

So, for me that boy will be a memorable character, but not really a controversial one. He is straight and will be able to find himself a sugar mommy without any problem. Someone else will pay for his university and his career. He'll manage.

Ok so this is my two-cents on Lin Leyang & Ji Mian's relationship. It's more shallow than I expected. I think things were smooth to a degree in the beginning, both ends believing in the relationship they've pictured. However, after ML gets the ability to read minds, things spiral. It's not uncommon for couples to fall out due to miscommunication, misplaced expectations, indecisive feelings, etc. As ML, I would feel uncomfortable if I suddenly realized that my lover actually has to force himself to sleep with me & all this time wasn't reciprocating wholly. On the other hand LL is also very human with his constant inner turmoil & plethora of insecurities. He has an inferiority complex, is ambitious but also is kinda dumb about it. It's not a surprising thing for their relationship to crash. Sure, it's not the nicest way to end a relationship, but the two were definitely not made to be with each other for very long. The string holding them together was more taut than they realized.

LL is the type of person you don't want to hate but at the same time, he frustrates you to no end. He needs to work on himself. He victimizes himself a lot & I just find his thought process a little too much at times. The sad thing is I know that he was made like this for the sake of plot... sigh. He just had to be a huge contrast to MC in order to make the main CP's relationship work. Ah to be casted as foil... sucks to suck.

Ji Mian isn't my favorite male lead to read either. He's definitely not the first hot enigmatic, wealthy male who happens to be cold & indifferent to others. I think it's the fact that the author paced his development kinda wrong. I wish there was just more time for his relationship with Xiashu to be more fleshed out. For a guy to claim to be in love with his ex & then to quickly fall out of feelings & jump to the next qualifying man who can move his heart... nah. He's not the one for me.

But boy, it sure was cute when he actually took the time to write articles about acting in order to get in touch with MC... that's dedication forreal

Then there's also that moment when MC/ML visited ML's mother (to announce their somewhat shotgun wedding that had already happened.. because like totally why would you want to invite your mother and only update her when you've already passed the boyfriend/engagement stage) and the MC immediately jumped out to say that they will not have kids because he is a kid.. lol.
