I was transported into a hardcore zombie apocalypse game that I played for over 1,000 hours.

But the world is much more intact than I remember.

For now.

English is not my native language, so I apologize.

I couldn't pass by after the comment about the first chapter with the metaphors about watermelons.

The novel itself is one of the best written on the topic of survival/zombie, both the translation and the original.

... more>> People who don't like that the first chapter is so long - as if they have never read Chinese prologues of 30 chapters.

And yet, I myself don't really like the story itself, and not how it is written. It's not my style, but I was pleasantly surprised by how high the quality of the novel is.

So people who like games about survival/zombie should definitely enjoy it. I prefer novels where the main character is engaged in collecting resources and building a base, and not escaping from the "authorities" and manipulating others. <<less

The MC is pretty good at manipulating people and other things like survival, it's not that he is super strong or anything just another transmigrator, the writing is very good and the translation even better the story as well is good and I can't say anything about world building cos I have read only a little but in average I would recommend

Well written-ish, author uses a lot of metaphors like a watermelon being zombies heads, but it's super long winded and doesn't really make sense.

It tries to be smart but the writing just ends up convoluted.

In the first part he goes from talking about watermelons, to talking about he was ab*sed, and his teacher talking to him about whether he thinks being a fool or wise is better, to talking about how idols being real caused cognitive dissonance or whatever, for half the chapter.

An interesting story that is well written, with just enough humour to keep it entertaining, without ruining the mood of the serious scenes.

The MC finds himself in a game he used to play, in a time before its setting. In some cases, he even contributes to creating the changes in the environment that he's used to seeing in the "future" – not specifically for that purpose of course.

And rather than being misunderstood as a villain, he somewhat behaves like one. He constantly manipulates people, including getting them to drop their... more>> guard to kill them. He doesn't unnecessarily kill innocents, but his survival is at the top of his list of priorities by a very wide margin.

Being in a game-like world can be said to be desensitising, but there's basically no recoil from killing people, even if they're criminals. His former life wasn't described in detail, but his psychological state wasn't exactly healthy or normal. He had family circumstances and grew up poor, but obviously most people still don't develop into that direction.

Unfortunately, somewhere around chapter 54 the translation completely falls apart, with large chunks of missing text, chapters seemingly out of order, and the more typical pitfalls of unedited MTL (different names, wrong genders, repeated paragraphs, etc.). I stopped after 62, because I couldn't follow the story at all anymore.

Perhaps some day someone will post a proper translation so that I can continue reading. <<less

He's the only man taking the apocalypse seriously.

Spoiler

He's a solid manipulator, a conman, a greasy weasel, a dashing dolt. The story starts off with him exploring the world as a Video Game World, but he quickly clues himself into the new reality.

I stopped reading this for a few weeks, but I had to start reading it again because my mind wanted answers and to see what sort of thing he'd pull off next.

The female leads are interesting and have a good measure of broken hearts and broken minds, but not from the zombie apocalypse. The alt world was cruel and rough, and all four of them reacted to it differently. Cassandra is my favorite, because of her actions after she learns the truth.

The opening chapters are a bit rough, but it picks up steam when he gets to the second town, and proceeds to terrorize it into the way it was in the game. He makes enemies and enemies and enemies and two or three friends as he travels, trying to maximize his survival and survival for those near him.

The plot leaves some questions unanswered, but everything that's outlined in the story is accounted for. The ending itself isn't great, but it's a good wrap up on the project in total, and it makes sense for what's going on in the story. They don't ever go into anyone taking him seriously about the isekai thing, and I did want to see that.
