As an agriculture graduate, Ji Ran felt that the most terrifying thing was not death nor transmigration, but marrying Lu Zhen, the eldest master of the Lu Family, who had died a long time ago and turned into a ghost.

It was an order from the emperor which made Ji Ran could not resist; the only thing he could do was to accept this cruel fate…

However, unexpectedly, this ghost Lu Zhen not only had a handsome appearance, but took care of Ji Ran in every possible detail, and became the only one Ji Ran could rely on to survive in the Lu Family.

“I blocked a fatal attack for the emperor and was made a general by His Majesty after my death. But now wealth and status are no longer important to me, for I only want to be with you forever.”

“Please don’t leave me. I really don’t know how to live without you, in this world of transmigration, in this ruthless Lu Family…”

In the light of the candle, two figures clung to each other on the paper window…

It's not bad, but it's also not good. It's okay. Some elements remind me of other novels namely:

    • tr*sh family from both sides
    • Before farming, there's always finding medicinal herbs in the mountains for instant cash
    • Poor to rich
    • Palace intrigue
    • War at the border
    • Cultivation
It does have farming, and MC did get to use his knowledge, but didn't really delve too deep.
Spoiler

he just introduced the use of greenhouses and found plants that was uncommon in that era (chili, onions, brocolli, r*peseed etc).

[collapse]

MC isn't OP though. He's more like a normal guy that got sent to ancient times, then the next he knew, he got married to a dead guy. He's also a bit of a dumbass at some points, but I found him more human like that. He and the ML also has a healthy s*x life, and he doesn't shy away.
Spoiler

there was one point when the ML was weakened, so they weren't able to dual cultivate, and it was funny that the moment he stepped out, all he sees are *ehem* situations taunting him. In the end he gave in, went back home with the ML and used his hand. LO and behold, he discovered that his essence can actually nourish the ml's damaged soul. So he did it a few more times til the ML was, uh, more solid lol.

[collapse]

But wait! You ask. Isn't the ML a ghost? Yeah well
Spoiler

ML learned Cultivation before he died, and so he became a ghost cultivator after death. That's why he's able to still have physical contact with things. And well... Do the deed with the MC lol (and well they 'dual cultivate' so hehe). And he also seemed like a powerful one, since by the later part he faced heavenly tribulation and survived and was reborn.

[collapse]

The ML is generally a good guy. That r*pe tag I think is when
Spoiler

ML lost control of his spirit after being almost destroyed thanks to one of the tr*sh sister-in-law. Said out of control spirit needed the mc's yang energy, and so yeah. Afterwards though, the MC scolded him and he was genuinely remorseful and vowed such a thing would never happen again, and he kept his word.

[collapse]
In the duration of their life, ML acted more like a wife, except in bed. He'd always make sure to feed the MC, make sure to care for mc's well being, basically a ghost nanny and bodyguard.

The later parts had to do with the emperor (surprise surprise) and a bit of palace intrigue, but not too complex.

There are also side CP, which is the prime minister and...i guess a prince, since he was referred as royal Highness in the mtl, though I wasn't sure about the relationship with the emperor though. The other is the emperor and his male queen (which is part of the palace intrigue). I actually found the emperor pitiful, since his love life was a bit of a mess. He's also a good guy though.

The tr*sh family got their retribution, though the focus was more on the ML 's family. The MC side also made an appearance, but halfway they were just forgotten lol.

This has a happy ending for all the couples.

Sometimes BL novels describe the shou as a woman, fortunately not on this one. Unfortunately the author insists heavily on what is a man, how he must act, speak, feel, what's beneath him, what's a sissy...

The families of MC and ML are as usual particularly bad and vicious, still obsessively trying to bully them even after cuting contact for reason unknown to mentally sane people.

I didn't look at the tags before reading and there is r*pe (twice as of chapter 49). It's the old BL where r*pe is nothing, like... more>> the first night, MC is lying in bed, alone, then an invisible something stops him from moving and r*pes him, leaving him in pain but MC doesn't think anything of it. I couldn't help but find the relationship weird.

ML is the strong and mysterious kind. He doesn't answer questions, just smiles. Why? For no reason, just to pace the story. Right... you marry a funeral tablet and get a ghost husband who doesn't explain anything to you but sulk when things don't go his way...

I don't know the year of publication, but I think it's an old novel that didn't age well. <<less

This novel reminds me of Transmigration of Mian [Reluctantly] Becomes His Man [Wife] and the big landlord but it's villain are more mindless fools than the other two novels. The relationship between main couple is really good and MC is not at all helpless even in desperate situations he finds a way out for himself without the help of ML and help the ML in most critical times. The second couple is also good but the most interesting was the third couple wish that author had shown more about them.... more>> In conclusion if you like Big landlord and Transmigration of Mian [Reluctantly] Becomes His Man [Wife] then you can definitely give it a try don't turn off by the r*pe tag as it actually wasn't r*pe and ML was not in his senses and his soul would have scattered. This translator is doing a good job as it's MTL is quite difficult to understand I would advice to wait for this novel's complete translation. <<less

Incredibly offensive start. The author clearly thinks r*pe is amusing as hell. The MC seems like a shallow idiot, but I can't really tell because I dropped it in the third chapter. One hopes that it gets better, because if it doesn't, the fact that someone translated it is baffling.

Its a pretty breezy and fun novel, the r*pe tag and such only really applies to two instances but they are both when the ML was not in control of himself and the does apologise and the MC scolds him.

the first is seen in the summary during their wedding night in the first chapter so if that's not your thing you can skip it. Just know that the context is that the general set up for the novel is that ... more>>
Spoiler

MC transmigrates into a sickly 18 year old who's adopted family kept him sick so he couldnt protest when they basically sell him to posthumously marry a war general. He has all of the OG's memories

[collapse]

It's very fun to see the MC thrive with the hand he is given. Also you can actually see them MC and ML start getting more and more lovey dovey as time goes on and they have a very healthy s*x life.

If you're bothered about realistic trauma well, its not really addressed much. Like I said, its all easy breezy. Its mostly a faceslappy kind of fantasy with s*upid evil family that the MC gets the snub, outsmart and kick down.

Later on there's some palace intrigue and border conflict but thats a very common trope. Overall I recommend this novel for people to have a fun easy time. I would skip maybe the first 5 chapters and go straight to chapter 6-7 because that's when
Spoiler

the MC and ML finally have a proper conversation

[collapse]
and the first 5 chapters are a little slow. <<less
