Honkai3rd fanfic, I didn't know NU tracked these until I randomly stumbled into it while reading a different project by the TL. I love HI3 and I immediately binged thru the translated chapters.

By the way, the Elysian Realm stuff begins by Chapter 48, the stuff before that is a bunch of important setup. The story makes some references to some lore relating to Honkai Star Rail as well as some passing mentions of Gun Girl Z (aka Houkai Gakuen 2). It also kinda blends Mainline HI3 and alternate timelines (i.e.,... more>> Yae x Kallen) which is kinda odd. Though HI3 by itself has annoying worldline crossing stories anyway.

Overall, I don't think the novel makes sense if you are reading it without having experienced Honkai3rd's Part 1 (and Part 1.5, to some extent) story firsthand. There are some stuff that just happen offscreen and is not explained that well in the story. It seems to assume you knew what was originally going on.

But if you were familiar with the Honkai story, it's pretty good. I am particularly impressed with the author's vision for what the Herrscher of Corruption could be if it was developed further. The novel also comments on this, but the original HoCorr was hyped up, and then defeated without much drama. It was one of HI3's least impressive bosses. (If anything it was closer to an Elysia showcase). I'm fascinated by how the concept of Corruption was expanded upon and how Enoxia's power is balanced, making her strong in some areas and absolutely helpless in other situations.

The translator is a bit inconsistent. That Gender Bender tag, it's mostly relevant with how a character is referenced with alternating pronouns every time. The MC of the story, Enoxia, has like 5 different ways her name is spelled. Some names appear in scenes where they shouldn't be (i.e, "Seele" being in the fight during the 2nd Eruption - she would have been a child by then). The translation is generally readable, but it would help a lot if the TL knows as much about Honkai lore as the author, or is at least aware of how terms are localized in the EN version of the game. Like, come on, "Quantum Sea"? Ugh. They got it right the first few times, I don't know why it got changed. <<less

I have not played Honkai Impact 3rd. I have not watched anyone else play Honkai Impact 3rd. I do not know the story of Honkai Impact 3rd.

This is still good. Though, as a fanfiction, it would be better if I had known the story of Honkai Impact 3rd before reading it. Even still, it's good.
