I honestly enjoyed this story up till the end of the third brother arc. Was it the author who didn't properly describe what is what or the translation. But

Spoiler

while it is somehow a "good" ending. Everyone in that family did him dirty. And it had been described that he had never personally done atrocities nor commanded such to be done. He didn't even have a proper name for himself.

[collapse]

His father a deadbeat, his mother a lunatic, his grandfather a muscle-moron.

Up till then the novel followed plot armor after plot armor with satisfying ends to the arcs. If you can swallow the unjustified doings of the imperial family towards the poor guy - then do read the novel!

It is satisfying to read about the "holy undead" and the weapon that MC choose to use.

As for the review mentioning "The character is promoting alcohol at the young age, which is very disturbing to read at all. It could be acceptable if he is in legal age, but MC is 15 years old!"

I think it was mentioned his body is a bit older than that. Plus, the MC is a transmigrated adult, one forgets the age of him most of the time while reading. And lets not forget that the novel describes a different culture and different times.

And lastly: kids are allowed to mu*der and go to war, but god-forbid they drink alchohol (note: I am talking about in-novel specifically). <<less

Imagine an author taking the KN obsession with necromancy, the overused CN transmigrate into a complete tr*sh young master template, the JN s*upid obsession with the "almighty" shovel, and fused them into an unholy amalgam that is somehow... really good?

This novel has so many elements that normally make me rage-quit a novel, yet somehow they don't grate this time. Maybe it's the low-key but very well done world-building, that introduces everything in a way that makes it seem natural and plausible, worked into funny dialog with no dry info-dumps. Maybe... more>> it's the characters, simple enough to be easy to understand and relate to, but with just enough depth to keep them from being caricatures. Whatever it is, it's funny and entertaining so far. <<less

First of all, the title is a bait, there's no necromancy because MC's body has holy powers so all the necromancy spells become priest spells (curses/plagues becomes blessings/healing and the only necro thing he can do is raise the dead but they just become "holy undead" or whatever that it). There is no "if you get caught using necromancy, you will die" because he literally is a priest. The only thing he has to be careful of is that no one sees his holy undead and even then when someone... more>> sees them, nothing happens to MC.

Second of all, most of the story is MC's dialogue and inner monologuing and if the MC is unlikable, the story is unlikable. He doesn't take anything seriously, for all he knows he died and is given a second chance at life but what is the first thing he does when reborn? Curse a goddess out loud (who probably exists) for putting him in the new body with his necromancy spells. He doesn't try to train his magic or ask anyone for help (they might not help but he could ask any paladin for help or look into priest spells and they might teach MC because of his background), he tries to learn martial arts for one chapter but says he doesn't have any 'talent' for weapons and uses a shovel for a weapon (it was cool at first but when its 70 chapters in and you are still using a shovel to fight, come on man... its probably going to continue for the entire novel). Once he goes to the capital, he doesn't even bother to learn what his body's family look like or even their past with his previous body. He doesn't try to figure out the situation with the nobles or empire or even look into who wanted him dead. He is not driving the story forward, the story is dragging MC and forcing him to go to places which is lame.

Third of all, there are no interesting side characters because even though there are a ton of POVs, every of the side characters actions are in relation to the MC. We don't see them doing anything else besides interacting with the MC and on the chance we get a POV chapter of them, its has something to do with MC (Charlotte chapter involves training to get stronger for MC, Paladin knight chapter involves MC's mom, MC's brother chapter involves MC's past). When MC moves to a different location, do we still read about the side characters? Nope, we literally get nothing of what they do until MC meets them again.

Finally, I despise misunderstandings in novels, its a poor way to create/relieve tension in stories and there's only a few novels that do them right (To be a power in the shadows, My death flags show no endings, I'm the evil lord of an intergalactic empire, etc.). This novel is not like those others.

Overall, it's honestly not a bad read if you don't think about it deeply. I know I listed a lot of negatives, but if you're just reading for some laughs and misunderstandings to be resolved/create in a fun way, then give a try but don't expect any depth from this novel. <<less

This reminds me of Isaac. Smart protagonist put into a bad situation.

Honestly I gave it 5 stars, but it's a bit early to put a vote for it.

Story is basically, guy died, wakes up reincarnated as the grandson of the current king. But before he reincarnated into this body, the actual grandson of the king was an a**hole, trying to r*pe any women he saw or beating servants, basically the tipical arrogant young master. And he was exiled to the edge of the kingdom, where there's undead.

On this continent when... more>> you die in a shady place, there's a 50/50 chance of you becoming an undead zombie.

So he gets exiled, and his task is to be a gravekeeper that performs burial rituals for the dead (since he is the grandson of the holy emperor, which is basically an emperor as well as a pope). The MC that reincarnated into the grandson, before he reincarnated he died while playing a game where his choice of character class was necromancer. So when he gets reincarnated into the grandson of the king he also has special necromancer skills. Only problem is since his current body has so much divinity, his necromancer skills become opposite, so for example: "swamp of death" gives you instead of death, "puddle of holy water".

Other than this we are also shown who the girl in the picture of the poster is, she is a girl he saved from the undead. And who wants to repay her debt to him. After some circumstances due to the MC, she happens to get very strong and very agile. She then decides to become his shield.

I don't want to say more so as not to spoil the story further. But as I said, the story strangely makes me think of another novel: Isaac. <<less

One of those rare great novel. Characters are used properly, World is fleshed out and stories arc are interesting. The ending is very satisfying too. This very much deserves to be rated 5 star.

Nothing good about this novel. The title is a straight up lie since MC uses necromancy like twice and the rest is holy blessings.

Doesn’t help that MC is very s*upid.
Spoiler

Person gets kidnapped by zombies yet MC doesn’t suspect them at all nor even think they are evil until he uses appraisal on them. Doesn’t test his abilities and other stuff, a kid is smarter than him.

Good novel. The necromancer aspect of the novel doesn't feel worn-out like it ends up becoming in other novels (coughs in Solo Leveling). Never got to read much but I think this story definitely had potential.

Everything happens so conveniently.

The plans are dumb, lackluster and not thought out. After 114 ch I'm not really attached to any of the characters. There's no substance.

This novel is decent and all but there is one major flaw MC doesnt act like a necro at all, it's bullsh*t he is more like a healer using blessing and he never build a undead army or use curses or bone spells, just use a few fodder undeads when nobody is looking.

Its almost like the autor wanted to write about a prince with holy powers that return to his home as a hero than a necromancer but these days all Korea novels must have necros or they suck. Its... more>> sad but the profession of necromancer is wasted on this novel. <<less

The male character is tr*sh, and the growth development is too rush. I don't feel motivated to read it until the last part, since the plot is generic and not funny at all.

The character is promoting alcohol at the young age, which is very disturbing to read at all. It could be acceptable if he is in legal age, but MC is 15 years old!

I don't want to ruin the newbies who are interested to read it, but believe it or not, I presume the author didn't put a lot... more>> of effort to study 'common sense'.

I like tr*sh characters and anti-hero villains, but this MC is no good example. It is making me puke, and I am losing interest to finish the story. But as I keep reading it to its last chapter, the more dissatisfaction I hold in the end.

Why did I say that?

There is no character development for the supporting characters, and as the story goes deeper, there is nothing 'special' happened that could be considered as a 'good pacing'.

What do I mean as good pacing? Good pacing is a word that could make the others shine other than the protagonist. The story only revolves in the protagonist, and only a few factors have passed my remarks.

What is more, it is quite disappointing to see how it set backs to its original form.

There are a lot of flaws, and it will push away alot of readers if they don't fully understand it.

Overall, I will give it a 3 out of 5 since the author puts a lot of effort to write this down without caring to research properly. <<less

I loved this book! But... it rapidly declines from around C80ish. I feel like it is most likely because the author put his heart and souls in the starting volumes, while the latter ones were just rushed and not reviewed, edited, and rewritten. The amazing novel gradually turned mediocre there, and if not for the amazing start, most would've dropped the book already. Eventually it gets to the point where you start to just skim the story for the more interesting parts. I had dropped at C223 as it honestly... more>> started to become a real chore to keep reading on and I no longer enjoyed the story. <<less

Perfect idea for story, relatively interesting plot, character developments were steadily happening yet it still got incredibly stale due to shitty writing. Disheartening stuff.

Whats even more sad is that there truly was some 5/5 potential here, its all gone to hell due to the sock puppet plot forcing for the MC though. Once again this is a story where instead of the characters making actual choices its the plot bending for our dearest MC; twisting him to fit the narrative the author wishes. Let me try to open this up... more>> for you a little.

Spoiler

The main character is like a small dog on a leash, he seems prickly but will go everywhere that the people in his life point and tell him to go.

It's always some same excuse; some sort of "authority" knight or a priest (often times they're way below his social status as well and theoretically have no power over him) tells him he must do this and he must do that so he does it.

How it plays out in later is that he always, suddenly out of nowhere, gets an idea to do exactly what was "needed" in the story to justify that hes not actually just being a puppet but that he somehow wants to do these things himself. It just reads so.. Pathetic? Incredibly so.

[collapse]

Without the translator helping with the change of perspectives story would be unreadable as it reads like something written by a child in a monotone way during the switches between 1st and 3rd perspectives. Kudos to the people working on this book, as far as I can tell they've done great job.

So in conclusion, if you're looking for some bad ass action and exploration from this 'being born again as game character' -genre of a book well go look elsewhere. There's barely any of the usual troupes that we love such as game knowledge, skill growth abuse etc. Here we have just a tiny boy who like a marionette does everything that the plot of the world needs him to do; just like a monotone robot would. <<less

3.5/5 stars.

As someone has summed up already, it's got a lot of tropes you might see in CN novels as well as KR staples like necromancy. Anyway, MC has transmigrated into the scummiest of the many imperial siblings of the Theocratic Empire, the current world power. Due to his scumminess, this prince has been exiled temporarily to a tiny village in the Land of the Dead Spirits. The actual MC is a guy who played a necromancer in a VR game, before getting electrocuted to death while playing.

You will see... more>> MC subverting the very low expectations of the people who knew of his body's previous exploits, fixing family feuds, getting misunderstood, and being OP. As well as using a shovel and a gun.

NOTE: the MC is a 'holy necromancer' and his abilities all have been blessed and have divine attributes or something, so it's not the implied 'gotta hide my necromancy abilities or I'll get my head cut off' that I was expecting when I read it. He doesn't really use it that often, either :/

This part deserves at least three stars, just because the execution's pretty entertaining. The reason why it's not much higher than that is due to a few things:

    • The MC's rudeness. While it is interesting to see the MC cuss during serious moments, when he's supposed to be 'holy' and all, if he's cussing every other sentence it becomes rather tiring.
    • The relative shallowness of the novel. Characters seem to let go of previous impressions and deep grudges a bit too easily, and antagonists have relatively easy-to-see through plans. Legit undead are the 'pure evil', no real nuances in these antagonists' characters can be found. I was expecting something a bit deeper from a book with Mature and Mystery genres.

Personally, I greatly enjoyed this novel. It has some really epic moments, that are reminiscent of Solo Leveling.

However, there are quite a few problems with this novel. First one being how shallow the plot and world building is. The plot seemed rather rushed, especially at the end. It seemed like the author wanted a epic ending but didn't really know how to go about it that well. Furthermore, there is almost zero world building in this novel. You literally don't know the names of other countries until the main character... more>> decides to get into a conflict/go over to said country.

Second, the author has a problem of having a lot of loose ends and vague plot points. For example, the world tree. It was very vaguely explained what it did and how it got there, and despite being a fairly important piece to the story it is barely talked about. This vague notion is also applied to characters. Theres no romance, despite seeming like the heroine would be a love interest from like chapter 10, however this never happened.

Also, the introduction for this novel was atrocious. I mean, during the first 50 chapters it was downright awful. The only reason I kept going was because I saw worse. (I.e "misunderstandings", cliche degenerate young master reincarnation plot points, etc) It eventually got better but I imagine a lot of people probably dropped it at this point.

Last point I'm going to make is the tremendously lazy plot introductions. The author will make the main character go somewhere, and "coincidentally" a super major danger appears that will shock the whole continent if the main character wasn't there. Repeatedly. The main character has no drive, so the author uses this as lazy excuse to drag the main character to where the next plot point will appear.

Overall, had great potential but due to laziness that potential was gone. Novel is fairly average because of this. <<less

A decent novel that could have been very good if author knew how to utilize the expansive premise. As a reviewer mentioned, this novel started off really interesting before gradually declining to mediocrity. The characterization of the MC is probably one of the few brightest spots in the novel, in my opinion. MC's class is a spin on the 'classic necromancer MC' in Korean novels because here, he is essentially a dual priest-necromancer class. His relationship with his confidantes and grandfather is also quite amusing.

What I don't like about this... more>> novel is how
Spoiler

the author squeezed the vampire trope to dry when he could have made the vampires an arc boss or something. The universe has multiple dimensions and demi-humans on MC's plane but the story was too invested on the vampires and their subordinates. The addition of giants near the end of the novel for instance, was good albeit too late.

[collapse]
Overall, I personally rate the novel 3.7/5.

P.S: Had to finish the novel with mtl as the translated ones are behind paywall <<less

The MC is so spineless. He couldve avoided so much trouble by just being more firm. Tell the s*upid villagers to burn the bodied or else die. Why bother to help people who dont help themselves? This is the embodiment of that situation. They kno if they dont cremate then they will turn into zombies, yet they still dont burn the bodies.
Yeah u knew them in real life and feel iffy but if u dont youll die!!!
so frustrating. Especially the MC I wish he would just slap them... more>> w reality.

For some reason I found this novel boring. Storyline isn't interesting and the MC is very unlikable and 80 percent of the dialogue is the MC'S monologues

MC basically just complains all day but then ends up saving the day and helping the people he hates/dislikes. MC also has no attachment to any of the characters as of chapter 60 and the other characters don't really stand out

After reading the mtl, I wanted to thank the god of isekai---Thank god its not harem!

After reading too much cliche fantasy webovels, I almost lost hope on reading a good action pack story this days that doesn't have too much bs. This will be my first review! The MC transmigrated into the body of a disappointing royal prince and for the crimes of the original, the MC has an amusing inner monologue of having to pay for it. What makes him not so different from the or!host was how rude... more>> he is at the beginning and how much he curse the goddess, the ever loving and merciful goddess of life and mother of the world and how much he complain about his misery. It made a funny dynamic of being a necromancer and priest at the same time.

Though sometimes the MC's thoughts appear irresponsible, he's actually hard-working shown in the latter part of the story and a great guy with the right empathy and feelings towards people around him. Not too shallow and not too overly dramatic. The adventure and battle scene was epic! The phasing and world building doesn't seem deliberate and it feels so natural.

All in all, though somethings are a bit missing (like his past life and why he was chosen in the current life with the gods and other realms) the ending was really heartwarming and it made me want more.

Really hoping some translator will pick this up! <<less

the MC is interesting and smart and the chapters I read seem pretty decent. I've only seen the "holy necromancer" theme used once or twice before and it's used well in this story so far. It has the stereotypical light vs dark theme going on, just like almost every other isekei ever, though this one also looks like it's going to be mixed with court intrigue as well.

on a different note, I didn't like the overdose of slang the translator chose to add to the novel; slang can be really... more>> confusing for international readers who aren't native English speakers. <<less
