“When I tell you to do A, you can’t ignore it and do B,” the Prince said.

“Sure,” she replied. She’ll just do C, then! No biggie.

“If I tell you to go east, you can’t ignore me and go west,” the Prince added.

“Yes,” she nodded. If she can’t go west, north or south works fine too.

“You are NOT allowed to have an affair with other men!” the Prince emphasized.

“Naturally,” she said. Why would she have an affair with others when they could just have it with her?

Qu Tan’er has transmigrated into the body of a noble young lady and forced to marry the ice-cold 8th prince. Her only care in this world is finding a way to get back to her original world, and dealing with all the politics and intrigue surrounding the marriage is just a distraction.

Your Highness, let’s not bother ourselves with this marriage, just hand me the divorce document!

I picked this up on a whim because I wanted something amusing and now I've gone ahead to read the raws. It's quite a whimsical, lighthearted story, and there's a bit of intrigue behind the male lead's actions that has him acting that way.

Spoiler

Since the MC used to be close to the male lead's brother, and her family (including her father and eldest sister) has close ties to the same older brother, he suspects the MC of being a spy sent to watch him and naturally keeps his distance for a while.

[collapse]

All in all, the MC just tries her best to live as she likes without getting involved in trouble or complex affairs of the court, but somehow... she gets mixed up anyways. She really is a nice person, just frustrated that she can't go home. And sort of cute, even when her acting get blatantly exaggerated at times. So far there's been nothing but slice-of-life shenanigans, but I think the intrigue factor will kick in later... <<less

MC is a crass shrew who time traveled from the 21st century and is stuck in the body of a girl betrothed to the 8th prince. While it's understandable why the MC is always looking for escape or has an unladylike demeanor, the way the prince acts doesn't quite fit the time period. Finding ways to antagonize the MC, and acting ungentlemanly all for the sake of amus**ent doesn't quite conform to the traditional times. In any case, its a battle of wits and quite amusing as they try to... more>> one up one another. <<less

BUAJAHAJAHA The story live up to the title!

MC is a little tense, although this book isn't like others book where they have a description of every character mood. Well, have a little of explain, but not everything
You as the reader go as the water, a little leave fall on the water and go with the water

Plot is very funny, the love is not so easy, Till now MC still want to break free... there's not something like inherit memories of the body owner, she just want to be... more>> free want to escape from that era and back to 21th century... but if she truly fail in love with the ML what will she do?, when ML know that her soul doesn't belong to this era will not be afraid? Overbearing to break off the hope of she to come back...

They say man to deviled to her doorstep, but you as reader you can only guess 'who' 'when' and ask

Here MC isn't OP, but have patience and endured many things, she wasn't intelligent but was smart, can pretend to eat hard and soft, can go with the sea and can block te waves.

ML isn't a heck, ML truly was to the author singing was a careful person, intelligent and with extraordinary patience.

Till now they don't show the mood of love, but show the mood of care and pet her... but still have barriers, I feel that maybe this story is very large thue the relationship and the plot have been good linked (and due to the short chapters) they now laught but my sixth sense say to me that the tragic plot will come in, doesn't seem so simple as they say. I think in the end maybe MC truly come back to 21 century, but if ML doesn't appear there means that isn't the sad end, only say that not everything Will have magic (I have more words but I didn't know how say more.) <<less

I noticed that none of the reviews have mentioned it thus far, so...

To my fellow MTL pioneers:

This novel extends way beyond the scopes of an imperial harem romance. In fact, there will come a moment where you'll say to yourself, "Oh, right, this started as an imperial harem romance." Then you'll squint at the text in abject confusion, and wonder how the heck you got here.

Just look at that chapter count. It's not joking. It's real, and it goes places.

Spoiler

Did you know that there's cultivation? There's cultivation. There's also world-hopping, power creep, and straight-up shonen manga villains. You get gun-toting assassins and demon lords and god realms and spirit instruments. You get small spaces and contract beasts and different kinds of cultivation powers. You get the MC growing strong without the ML, and the ML earning his yandere card and eating all the MC's tofu (SFW), then the ML getting his yandere card forcibly taken away when the MC changes due to awful life events. There's martial arts and organized crime syndicates and rival sects and zombie puppets and pill gods and questionable parenting and a hot grandpa with all the potential to be a second ML if this were a reverse harem novel... whew. And that's not all. It's nuts, you guys.

[collapse]

It's not perfect, though--actually, some of it towards the end where I am now is kinda rage-inducing.

Spoiler

Lookin' at you, green eyes. +_+ Get away from that baby! Go back to Twilight!

[collapse]

Spoiler

And can I just whine a bit over the MC being so lazy when the ML is around? And both leads' terrible parenting? I mean, come on. The first kid got lucky, but number two is just...dude. Not cool. (Okay, it's nothing graphic, but the situation and implications are soooo squicky. And the problem would be solved if they'd just taken any interest whatsoever in the kid's early development. Cripes!)

[collapse]

And the "first ending" felt like the author was trying to throw away a live bomb--yes, I said "first ending." There is a remarkably flaccid "first ending, " after which the author regained the spark and continued the story to follow a completely different plotline they'd ignored in the first round.

But overall, it's an entertaining romp with breakneck pacing, a plot that's not overly forced, fun characterizations, (mostly) minimal hole-in-head syndrome, adequate fluff, rofl-grade comedy, and a strong focus on the main power couple (with some bonus arcs for side characters).

Solid 4/5 stars. After all, it kept me gripped for three weeks straight as I consumed over 5000 chapters. @_@ Loses one star because of the aforementioned issues in 2 and 3. <<less

I watched "The Eternal Love" and now can't wait to read what the author originally intended to happen with the MC and ML in the novel. Their love story is sooooooo cute!!! Who would have thought the ML loved the MC to such a degree.

I can't read this any longer. I'm leaving a review because the other reviews seem to be written by those who have boundless patience.

I can't stand it, my tears are almost falling. I've read the last 30 chapters in complete silence. I read novels for fun, this novel is just barely meeting the minimum. As I trudged on through the chapters searching for the comedy, I was repeatedly beaten by the plot.

The novel's description is misleading, it sounds like a comedy the way MC fires back replies. BUT when... more>> I came across that dialogue in the novel... It was said with a completely different tune. Depressing, controlling, suffocating, and stressful.

Call this a comedy to my face and I'll kick your shins. <<less

I have to agree with Fathom. Considering the intended time period of the setting and the fact that the guy is a prince, his behavior doesn't quite conform to the time period's norms, considering his position. I found that part a bit off putting.

More comedy than romance so far, IMO, but I guess thats because its just starting out. 3836 chapters in total though...I'm not sure if I can last that long with this plot. I mean... how could the author have possibly beaten the plot out for that... more>> long with this setting? <<less

I have to apologize beforehand if my review offends other readers who loved it. My intention is not to offend anyone. But. This novel has me questioning the 4.0 star it has received? Also why it got adapted to drama is questionable. Like the other review said, it's barely meeting the bare minimum. That's what this novel is. Everyone is questionable, the FL, her family, her maids, the ML. I truly respect those who were able to complete reading this as I couldn't even last for long. Reading this left... more>> me stifled with the naivety and s*upidity of the FL. That's all. <<less

Hilarious is right. I have read and then reread the early chapters of this book and find this story to be very funny. I can’t wait to read further into the story. Completely watched Eternal Love, the drama version of the story. I liked it as well. I posted pictures and descriptions on my tumblr. Https://irris30. Tumblr. Com

It still seems pretty early in the story so I don't have much to say. But it's interesting and hilarious. I'm still waiting for the romance at the moment though...

I remember watching the drama for 2 and 1/2 seasons before dropping it & wondering why I wasted so much time on this.... What I'm gonna review on is the drama adaptation since I never read the novel.

What I like:

The premise for all 3 seasons and the ML. & the ML's older bro, I really hate how the author has to give him (& originalFMC) such tragic endings every single season.

... more>> What I hate:

The MC is as dumb as bricks. She's also very crass & low class. But since ML is the one in the position of power for the first 2 seasons, I was still able to enjoy it b/c ML is able to do all the thinking, planning, executing and saving that dumbass MC's ass every single time. However in the 3rd season, it's an ancient matriarchy society where MC's the one w/ the position of power this time and ML's in the position of being oppressed and not as educated b/c he's male. I love ancient matriarchy societies since I love seeing women in power and beautiful, gentle, virtuous men as ML. Unfortunately, MC's low IQ and EQ shots through the roof & becomes really apparent in this season b/c ML cannot save / clean up after her since he doesn't hav his past memory 1/2 of the time. Seeing MC ruining & forcing good men to death due to her selfishness (for her self-righteous 'romance' & presentism & wanting to b the 'good person') & low EQ, as well as blatantly breaking laws & cheating for some self-righteous entitlement that everything good should belong to herself without her putting any effort in nor carrying out any responsibilities that comes with her status, has made me so disgusted that I had to stop watching even though I love this season's ML and premise the most. The only thing MC cares about & puts effort in is her romance with ML, everything & everyone else in the 3rd season apparently owns her $ or something; & everyone that falls in love with MC or was in love with the oriFML or tries to get MC to fulfill her responsibilities or tries to help her get an education or to follow the country's laws are all criminals that should have tragic and/or humiliating ends apparently <<less

I have seen first season of The Eternal love and aproximatelly half of the second season and was curious how it compare to book. It´s funny and entertaining. Unlike in drama, there isn´t soul of original owner in MC´s body, which I liked. It´s far more entertaining without her and it didn´t lost any meaning in grand of the whole story anyway.

Story in Dongyue depicted in drama follows +- story in novel, but storyline in mysterious land was significantly shorten in the drama. On one side it makes better sense... more>> in novel, on the other side, its starting to feel too long.

For characters, MC is cute, funny quite smart and resourceful. At the start she is also highly goal-oriented and because her goal is to get back into her previous life, she doesnt pay attention to things happening around her. Its remarkable how selective her attention is :) I really liked her original self and I have to admit, that when she fall in love, she had lost a lot of her original bright and become quite boring character.

ML is typical novel chracter. Highly inteligent, ambitious, handsome, overprotective and extremly jealous. At this point of the story, he sadly has couple more decades of memories than MC, which just adds to unequality of their relationship. But I am not droping this novel, will continue to read. <<less

I found this book by watching a Chinese Drama (The Eternal Love). Seriously has a great and interesting plot, also funny too in the drama. Decided to come and read this since I love reading more than watching. Expecting a great read from this.
