Creatures that were supposed to exist only in fiction were running rampant throughout the world, drawing civilization close to its demise. That day, I, the protagonist, noticed that there was a special skill dwelling within me.

Leveling up the more she fights and gaining new skills as well as the ability to harness magic in turn, a high school girl who was once a shut-in was integrated into a group of people the system labels as, “players.” She makes the decision to exterminate the monsters and save the people around her, enjoying the laid-back life the end of the world has brought her all the while.

Reading the WN slowly.

Its pretty good so far, hits basically everything I like in an isekai novel. Female protagonist, no romance, apocalyptical world, gore.
Some stumbles here and there, but I hope this gets picked up by someone to TL who actually knows something beyond my basic Japanese.

Firstly, the translation. Currently, the novel is being translated by Asian Hobbyist. It's not outstanding, but it's serviceable. Few, if any, spelling or grammatical errors, but not particularly engaging to read. On to the story.

This novel is closer to a slice of life/isekai fantasy novel than a zombie apocalypse one. There are few depictions of the moral struggles behind surviving an apocalypse (scarcity, paranoia, clash of opinions, etc.), and there is little urgency in any of the battles. This is further exacerbated by the leveling system, which I suppose is... more>> a point of mystery in the plot, but removes any sense of immersion; the world feels like a game. Similar to a game, our protagonist is powerful! Which isn't a problem in itself, the problem is that there is nothing of interest in her. As a loner-type character, she has no parents, no friends, and she doesn't care about other people. With apocalypse stories, main characters often have some kind of motive driving their actions, most common being survival, or looking for friends and family, but with this novel, none of that exists. Our main character's actions are driven... by the system. This could be alleviated by the side characters, but they are also poorly written. They don't make much of an impression, and they don't serve any purpose apart from being there to interact with. The plot, and our protagonist does not receive any development from their introduction. In other words, every character is boring.

I cannot recommend this to anyone looking for an apocalypse novel. If you're looking for a mediocre novel to chug through, well, there's still better options. <<less

Great read, only problem I have with it is that the chapters where the fighting does happen are far and few between.

I usually like these overpowered, listless and flat character type of story when I read novels late into the night.. I enjoy apocalypse novels with female protagonists, though those are few in numbers, so I can usually power through bad ones. However, this.. Another level completely. The magic part was the final straw, and the changing races part simply just was too crazy to ignore.. Also, the drastic change in appearance as she walked away made me cringe. It could be your thing, but it just wasn’t what I was... more>> looking for. <<less

It's fine for some light reading but don't expect much. A generic slice of life in an apocalyptic world. If you are waiting for your faves to update then this can kill some time. Nothing stands out about it (positive or negative), it's one of those novels where you read it then once you stop, the urge to read it doesn't hit you and you just kind of forget about it.

I did end up dropping it at ch 85 but it's just because I lost interest. I'd rather look for... more>> something great than settle for something mediocre. <<less

It's a teenager with chuuninbyou, whose dreams to be special finally came true. But she has 0 EQ, doesn't even feel conflicted about her first zombie or human kills, is bad at social skills, and has a very boring typical japanese hero protagonist personality.

I don't know how, but they ruin every potential emotional or bonding moment so far. It's so lifeless. There's nothing to emphasize with.

Fighting scenes are boring. It's worse with magic added. So it doesn't even have an exciting element to it. I don't understand how you can... more>> take the premise and make it so boring. I feel upset I was stuck reading all available chapters on the plane because I had nothing else downloaded. <<less

Update Frequency: 2/5

The novel is not updated regularly. They tend to update it on a monthly or 2 week basis with 1 - 3 chapters.

Translation: 4/5

... more>> The novel is readable and there are no standout issues for a casual reader. However, if you have major issues with grammer and spelling, it might be a turn off as there are some. However, the story is not hard to read and sometimes you can look over it.

World Building: 3/5

There is a lack of world building as there is no perception of distance in the story. It feels as if the MC pops up to these locations almost immediately. The story has some extent of world building still, but can be improved on.

Main Character: 3/5

The main character can be basic to some extent, it feels as if a slice of life character entered an apocalypse for most of it. However, there are still some stand our moments where you can see the MC emotions.

Side Characters 2/5

The side characters up to this point are not memorable, even though some of them have their unique quirks.

Story 4/5

The story is a quick leveling, OP to some extent MC going through the fantasy/zombie apocolypse. The story does not have a end goal premise which docks it some points, however, if you want a slightly darker version of kuma kuma kuma, the story would fit well for you.

Overall: 3.5/5

The story is neither good nor is it bad. Overall if you are just in for a casual read to pass time, the story is for you. However, if you want a deep story or slice of life story you might want to look else where.

Genre: Post apocalyptic, game leveling, OP MC, slice of life, has abit of grimdark aspects. <<less
