THE BEST STORY I ve read so far and trust me I ve read quite a lot.

Pros

  • FL is not some kind of white lotus
  • shes not op either she starts from the start with a strong personality nit being pushed around or depending on the guys around her
  • shes not the cold type nor the wailing type has a heart but only for deserving people
  • has a backbone and skills which she aquired through the 5 year time leap
  • the ML is a faithful guy and has his priorities set
  • he is very resolute in his actions [ best part that he doesnt show a soft spot for other females but doesnt rebel against his family either
  • the side charecters AHHHHHhhh like seriously they are great
  • the leads have friends and meet trustworthy people too
  • not all bad guys are bad guys they change not the typical bad means the worst villain
  • the interactions and the dialouges are GREATTT
For people thinking of the r*pe part he doesnt r*pe her both of them are drugged when it happens

the FL thinks her child is dead but he was actually saved by some one and is alive and lives with the ml

Cons

  • there are no side stories or spin offs not everyone is given a ending it makes it real [ like all people dont get a happy ending at the same time ] that way but I wanted to know what happened to the side characters
WHY TO READ

  • for MLs brothers
  • for their son
  • for MLs nephew a.k.a. FLs ex boyfriend
  • for the difrent avatars of FL [ trust me there are many and its played out well too]
  • for the typical wife ML there are like seriously cliches which the twisted it a little like normally the ML is supposed to be on the bed with a girl but here its like the FL is on the bed with a girl and like ML gets jealous and is vary of girls but is never interfering with FLs relations with people
  • for the interactions between all these people.
All in all great book will recommend u to read unless u like misunderstandings and angst...

anyway do read it great book worth reading till the end...

If you want spoilers the just start a conversation with me I love talking with people...

One of the best female protagonists. The character has many shades firstly as the badass and fearless woman, then she has been seen as a charing wife and a super mom. The side characters especially the younger brother of the male lead and a young child of the main couple are similarly outstanding

It has many moments of laughter, joy, tragic. The author needs to be credited for writing for such a brilliant novel. The 2 down points for this novel are :-

one of my favourites, took a week to read all of it and am very satisfied with the ending even though the plot was a little repetitive with women scheming it kept me on my toes every night as I looked forward to see how everything was solved.

going to miss bro xi, our sweet darling mr lu, the little bun, my jingli, and muye //><// and most of the side characters too they really have depth in their characters and aren't just thrown in to compliment the leads.

loved this book... more>> definitely worth a read, why are you still reading this click on chapter 1 ASAP.

This is a walk in the park kind of story, a girl (or woman's?) wishful thinking not meant to be taken seriously, with repetitive formula we all love and hate:

Spoiler

- Green tea b*tches looking down on MC for no reason
- Gang join the bullying
- MC one-upped them (usually with the help of ML's money)
- Green tea b*tches & gang: impossiburu! So jealous! Puke blood!
- Repeat cycle

[collapse]

Starring:

Spoiler

- Deux ex machina
- Mary Sue (OP)
- Overbearing CEO (OP)
- Mascot bun (OP)
- Ex-boyfriends harem (OP)
- Green tea b*tches
- Comedic effect side kicks
- Master villain NXL
- Old flames
- Nosy & overtalkative crowds (if we remove their comments, can prolly save 50% of the book)

[collapse]

OP MC, aside from being pretty:

Spoiler

- Rank A assasin
- Shoots like a pro, without looking
- When dressed as a bishonen, capable of making girls fall in love with her 30 seconds. Her harem is no joke.
- learnt to play guqin in a month
- pro gamer (#1 rank in the whole game!)
- talented method actress
- cooks like a chef
- can ride horses like a pro
- brews tea like a pro
- sings broadway with no training
- can do no wrong

[collapse]

ML's skillsets, on top of being rich and handsome :

Spoiler

- Speak not 3, not 4, but 12 languages fluently
- Never make wrong business decisions, and I quote, like an oracle
- A proficient programmer/hacker. Hacked an info stored in bank security level in one hour
- Instantly overpowered 3 well trained bodyguards who does it for a living
- An accurate gun shooter
- Takes photo like a pro
- Top of the chart charisma
- Pro stalker (apparently inherited from his parents)
- Sings "like a cello"
- A part time actor with extraordinary charisma

[collapse]

OP 5 years old kid, who is:

Spoiler

- very handsome
- can build programs and automate robots
- Can beat a 13 YO kid with IQ of 180, solving university level math problems
- ambidextrous
- draws like a pro artist
- takes photography with golden ratio
- can shoot 10 pointers consistently after a couple of tries (first time shooter!)
- a trained fighter! His kick can make a boy larger than him shoot to the air
- and I quote "... well versed in piano, chess, painting and calligraphy, astronomy, geography, and pretty much everything!"

[collapse]

There are moments when I want to pull my hairs out because of some inconsistencies, how repetitive it is, or at times, because how biased the author is toward the main lead. But despite everything, I stayed until the end. Considering it has 2165 chapters, that's a feat on its own. So 4 star it is. All of it for little bun and Jiang Muye. <<less

At first, I never thought I would find FMHM likable. The plot is pretty cliche and although, the main characters seem good, they feel like archetypes but as the story progressed, I fell in love with this novel. It was not that it did not have cliche elements but it handled most of them quite nicely. Dramatic plot twist often feel rushed because they give you the carrot too soon, making things predictable and boring but FMHM pulled through that typical Waterloo. FMHM dangles the carrot in front of you,... more>> builds up the tension and gives it when you are hooked. Too put it simply, the cliche bits still end up interesting because of the good build up and your focus on them, asking the question, "when will it happen?" as opposed to "what will happen?" which you can easily tell with this kind of storyline. The unpredictability of the timeline is something I really commend the author for. They know when to put heart-warming stuff and shocking plot twist but most importantly, they make the b*tch-slap moments for the villains satisfying. If you are reluctant to take up this novel because of the cliche themes like I did, I still do hope you give it a try because the themes and time frames are handled quite nicely! <<less

The plot was good the main thing I could not accept is that the author made the child, that is their son so perfect he's like ULTRA GENIUS. He can do everything before I guess, like 5yrs old.

For eg: he can control machines, can shoot after seeing his mom shoot when he was 5.? This is ridiculous, I get it he is a genius but how could anyone be perfect let alone a child. ? Except everything was good

I liked it.

So descriptive right? But in truth, somehow, it's a lot like Trial Marriage, but I found it far more enjoyable. I liked all the characters I was meant to like. I loathed all the chars I was meant to hate. I enjoyed the face slapping and triumphs. I adored the lil' bun. (Seriously, so adorable -- like, it's either not too many words or a whole review filled with words about the lil bun and his feelings and his motivations and his --- ok, I'll stop now But... more>> Lil Bun is STAR STAR STAR STAR STAR STAR STAR).

I honestly don't know if the translator brought out the author's subtleties or added to things, but the english version is definitely memorable with layers on both plot and characters. To the point where
Spoiler

I ended up 59% forgiving a certain set of Lu parents for their assholishness

[collapse]

Again, there's some similarities to Trial Marriage. But there were so many characters I loathed in TM, so many I found boring and useless and wasting space/text/useless filler. Also, I feel like in HM, the plot flows far, far better. And the side plots merge together to the main much much better. It was something I WANTED to keep reading. Yet even now I kinda don't want to finish it, cause then it'll really be over. And there's no spin off universe with other favoured characters. SIIIIIIGH <<less

Great novel, I loved it very much <3

The FL is soooo funny is ridiculous, but I still think she's quite believable. Except...

Spoiler

Except for her abilities. Ignore the shooting talent (I'll put that on her "family bloodline" excuse). How's even possible for someone get so strong in mere 5 years? And not only in fighting and shooting, but also in acting and mannerisms. So, that part is not all that believable...

[collapse]

She as a guy is too much. Everytime she goes "wife, that's not what you think!!" with the ML it cracks me up ???

ML is perfect. He's the typical CEO - arrogant, cold, superhandsome, super rich. Normaly in novels, we still get the ML acting super arrogant and even abusive with the FL - NOT this case here. He's totally henpecked. Even if he says no, she only need to coax him a little and that 'no' will become a 'yes' ?

He's also super shameless, he uses his son as a weapon to conquer the FL without hesitation at all ???

Spoiler

When she goes into a coma... damn, my little heart broke with the way he reacted

[collapse]

Little Bun, the ML's son, is a work of art. Who doesn't want a suuuuuuuuuuuuper cute cute cute (important things must be said three times!) as your son??? There are no words to describe Little Bun, he's just that perfect ???

About the ending, a lot of people said it was too rushed. Truth be told, it was a few days after I finish reading when I realized that. But that's because the part with the FL-ML was done properly, I didn't feel very rushed. But when I think about the others characters in the novel, then I realize it was suuper rushed! I need more! Author, at least give the rest of Tianxin-Lingtian story!! I want more dog food!! ლ (゚д゚ლ)

Anyway, a few things was done pretty rushed, but overall this is definetly a five stars novel!! Super recommend!!

And it was the first long story that I've finished reading, so there's a place in my heart for it ? <<less

I finished reading this novel 2 months ago but honestly, it's still one of the few novels I can't forget. The plot itself isn't too deep or mind blowing but that really isn't the point of the story; what makes this story so compelling is the excruciating build up and set up that readers are confronted with. There are parts wherein you know something is going to happen, but you read along anyways to find out how exactly that happens. It's really one of those novels that live out the... more>> 'what matters is not the destination but the journey' type of philosophy; it does it so well wherein it's very scarce for a reader to even feel tired of reading it, usually entertained with the different ways classic tropes and cliche plot points are being presented.

If you want something new (like plot and other mind blowing stuff), this is not the novel for you. But if you want a novel that has almost all the tropes from a typical shoujo manga, chick flick, and all those sappy romcoms but still doesn't loose sight of the embodiment of a strong independent female lead, and also provides a new take on cliches and tropes then yea, read it because it's just that. <<less

I LOVE THIS NOVEL.

Ning Xi is a badass female lead and Lu Ting Xiao is best husband. Little Bun is very very adorable bun too!

I have a lot of fun reading this novel. Don’t ask me how many times I LOLed all of a sudden because of the absurd situations that sometimes happen. ? Some part of the story may get too cumbersome (related to those antagonists whom I wish do not have the survival capability of a c*ckroach) but all in all, this is very, very good read.

Summary: This was a crazy romp of a modern day novel. It's adventure/romance/action, etc. There's a mediocre beginning and lots of absurd soap opera plots, but in the end, everything is tied together neatly and happily with some pretty epic scenes along the way.

Beginning plot: At birth, Ning Xi from the powerful Ning family was switched. Raised on a farm, she returned to her posh family at 18, only to be ruined by the vicious schemes of the girl who took her place, and sent abroad in shame. 4 years later, she returns to China to be an actress. She is an amazing actress, with great disguise skills, but she is suppressed again by the girl who took her place.

The first few story arcs were awkward to read (see below), and Ning Xi starts off as an innocent white bunny kind of character. Unfortunately, there are many aspects of her that didn't make sense, like how she had so many ex-boyfriends abroad but acted so inexperienced in person. This is later explained.

Ning Xi soon becomes OP. We learn that during her 4 years abroad, she was traumatized by the past events in China,
Spoiler

got addicted to extreme sports to numb her pain, was rescued and joined an underground faction, dressed like a man, became a top notch assassin/sniper/martial artist, has a wild and free personality, and had many ex-boyfriends because she deliberately dated tr*sh men in order to dump/humiliate them with a vigilante mindset.

[collapse]
A lot of her OP seems to come out of nowhere (ie she is an amazing cook because she learned for her first love, she is an amazing sharpshooter because of genetics), but the one that was easiest to believe was that she was a master of disguise because of her acting job.

The cast is huge. Ning Xi is involved with the entertainment circle (actresses, managers, directors, etc.), the top prestigious families (businessmen, military, government), the wuxia-like underground societies (Asian, American, European), fashion industry (designers, investors, etc.), etc. Over time, her involvement with many people starts to develop in the story, and plot becomes complex. Thankfully, the many plot threads are fairly well resolved at the end.

What I liked: Ning Xi is kind, OP, and triumphs over everything in the end. The male lead is almost perfect and is of course OP (smart, loving and kind to Ning Xi, powerful, rich, respectful of her). Because of her past trauma, he has to be very patient and respectful, but he is wily and powerful and he gets her in the end. The comedic relief from the side characters was great. Several heart-wrenching scenes, including the male lead's mom standing up for Ning Xi, and her cousin going to the hospital alone. Ning Xi's character does mature throughout the storyline, and she tries not to rely on the male lead. The plot becomes an addictive, runaway train mid-way and becomes very entertaining. The story improved so much throughout its 2165 short chapters, I'm going to re-read it again.

What I disliked: The extremely annoying jealous villianesses, the sudden story arc at the end involving new characters, the heavy paywall at web novel. Com. Repetitive story arcs involving rumours smearing her chasity and background, with many pages of anonymous characters or online trolls tr*shing her viciously before she face slaps them all in revenge and clears her name. There were too many to read. I skipped most of the troll comments and mean commentary, because it was highly unpleasant.

What was foreign: The emphasis on female celebrities being either chaste or married (and the public condemnation if they were neither). The strong power of fans online. The high prestige of military/government officials families.

Just FYI: There are several off-colour "jokes" about someone being so attractive that they could "turn people gay". I've seen this kind of inference in several Chinese novels. There were also comments in the novels about Hollywood discriminating against Asian artistes.

The translation is well done and complete. Besides characters names, there is no pinyin, so it's an easy read. However, every person is called by their full name, so it gets pretty confusing. For example, Su Yan's parent are Zheng Minjun and Su Hongguang. Ning Xi's parents are Zhaung Lingyu and Ning Yaohua. Her aunt and uncle are Zhaung Lingyu and Meng Linlang.

In retrospect, this was about as straightforward of a cinderella story that one could have asked for with a modern take, add in a dose of revenge p*rn, up the maturity to grown up levels, and smush in a dash of the typical chinese novel tropes like "can't tell whether to laugh or cry." I just had a smile on my face for most of my time reading it. I read this story in about a week's worth of sitting, and the only regret I have is that the story felt like it was forced/rushed with its ending, and the the pacing for the later parts of the story definitely stands out when it's compared to other story arcs.

While I do enjoy some nice face-slaps that seems to be common in the Chinese novels, I will say that some of the face-slaps felt satisfying, while some of the more important ones I felt were a bit lackluster and lacking... more>> substance due to some flat antagonists you're presented with. Since it's also a long read, (2000+ chapters), it'll also depend on your patience/tolerance of the overall genre whether you might like this story.

Now why I did give this a high rating?

Personally,

I felt like the story was a thrilling adventure and I actually remembered almost every character (including those side character they briefly mention in only a few chapters). I actually kept thinking about what happened with certain side characters and their lives more (hint: Author should really consider making more side-stories)

Spoiler
    • Ning Tianxian (MC's Cousin) & Mo LingTian (Tianxian's love interest, etc) - for instance, I honestly felt like there was something there-- but Mo LingTian seemed to just not do things decisively when it matters. When they're mentioned again-- the later parts just felt rushed by the author, like it was an afterthought.
    • Youge (Han Xiao's love interest) - They mentioned her like for maybe 1-2 chapters, then she actually had a more pivotal role to the story.
    • Yun Shen/Satan - Felt like they could have even gone into a flashback and/or a very long side-story that explores the adventures of Ning Xi (or Tang Xi) with YS's group. Definitely can be quite interesting, and might even involve those cultivation things people seem to love so much in Chinese WNs.
[collapse]

The pacing for the most part felt just right for me, not too long and drawn out, but not too short either (for the most part, I'll go more into detail later). I actually even felt strong emotions at certain chapters like

Spoiler

Chapter 1713 - When the protagonist, Ning Xi, is declared to be in a vegetative state after risking her life (and essentially shielding Little Treasure [Little Bun]) from all sorts of dangers when everyone doubted her except those really close to her. It really hit me hard and I didn't expect myself to react so emotionally towards the characters so much.

[collapse]

However,

I honestly felt like the author lost some interest and/or was rushing the story for the later parts around chapter ~1800. The pacing felt rushed and almost chaotic compared to what was present in the earlier parts, and things just kept happening one after another, with no real nice fluff/fillers to cool down between the events. It's very evident on the...

Spoiler

European King/Emperor story arc, where it hinted at it gradually like it normally does-- then suddenly feels like the events happening were just rushed. Even the films/TV shows that Ning Xi is presented it are skimmed over within one-two paragraphs summarizing/explaining it, rather than showing the little bits of scenes that you would normally see.

Furthermore, the author adds in a lot of timeskips, which I think effectively neutralizes the face-slapping satisfaction level for some of the biggest antagonists that deserved the grandest of all humiliation. Ning Xuelo's face-slap (MC's foster sister) and Zhuang Lingyu's face-slap (MC's mother) were severely underwhelming, even topped by minor antagonists of arcs in my opinion.

The most blatant act of the author rushing was probably when they introduced Han Xiao as the sort of 'solve everything' key for the last story arc, and how the European Emperor just simply 'apologizes' is the biggest letdown. The author builds up this suspense of this overwhelming antagonist that requires Lu TingXiao (ML) and Yun Shen to team up (and still have trouble beating), and the ending to that arc is the father catching his third son being impulsive and greedy?

[collapse]

Wish the author enjoyed the adventure as much as I did, and brings on some side-stories as I personally felt that the last part (the 200-300+ chapters) felt rushed. I definitely hope people will try and pick this up, as I highly recommend it even with its faults and flaws. <<less

I'm amazed at this incredible story.
What else can I say?
The plot, the comedy, the characters, the sweetness between the protagonists, the little treasure, the events that happened... Everything, I am amazed.
The truth is I don't have many words to say, the story is incredible and I love it.
From beginning to end the story did not lose its grace and the characters did not lose their essence.
Leaving the wonderful protagonist aside that always enchanted me, and her cold but sweet husband aside, my praise goes to...... more>> Lu Jingli.
Yes, the brother of the protagonist...
Why do you ask?
It's simple it's very funny, his comments, his actions, his personality is very funny... But he is also serious, I always support his brother and sister-in-law with their s*upid actions.
He was by his side from the beginning to the end when he almost got sick with diabetes (There was a lot of sweetness)... Hahaha... Anyway I hope you read the story and I hope you enjoy it. <<less

Writing this review after finishing English translation.

One of the better female MC leads that isn't transmigrated, although I enjoy those more in general.

I like that she actually handles a lot of the problems herself instead of relying on husband. Some of the other ones do this too often.

It's best to binge read this and not take it too seriously. Solid 4/5

Loved the novel. Loved the transition of feelings between the male and the female lead. The novel has all the components and the author has laid it out perfectly.

Totally recommended, I got hooked just after reading few chapters. You love the characters more and more after every chapter. It's full of surprises and sweet love.

I am at a loss now since I don't know if I'll ever find a similar novel to read. One of my favorite readings. :)

I love the face smacking, I love how OP the MC is. I love the couple's interaction. Above all, little bun alone deserves 5 stars!

There are tear jerking moments also and I love those as well.

What can I say, this is on my favorites list.

The only thing I don't like here is the short chapters- I hate it! But I still love the novel.

When you think about how most villains are portrayed as dumb and how cliche and obvious the plot is, it should be boring right?

But their interactions are just so adorable I don't care I'm giving it 5 star.

P.S. Little Bun, you are so cute

Edit: Nope girl are you secretly a Goddess why did you even suffer to begin with if you are so capable.
