Heroine of the Broken Engagement

I, Olga Rifald, have remembered the moment my engagement was canceled.

I had died in an accident and got reborn as the heroine in the Otome Game “Princess Road”.

The end of this engagement signifies the start of the game.

… And, if I’m careless, I will head towards the death route at full speed.

… Eh? Isn’t that dangerous? Ain’t dying dangerous?

I have already died in my past life, so at least here, I would like to live peacefully…!

… That being the case, I will do my best to aim towards the slowlife.

… Even though that was the plan!

I've been reading the chapters on Patreon, because I felt the story was interesting enough to warrant it. But I'm getting increasingly fed up with the MC, who is perhaps one of the more idiotic MCs I've ever read. And she still treats her life as though it were exactly like the game, which frustrates me. I'll keep reading for now, but I might drop it if she doesn't smarten up. Then again, Bakarina, whom I adore, is also an idiot, but so far she's more charming than this story's... more>> MC. Part of the problem might be that in Bakarina's case, we learn how her personality entraps others, whereas in this story, it seems like

all the capture targets have already fallen for her,

but we have no explanation as to why. <<less

(Update chapter 48: It just gets worse and worse. Horrible characters with negative development, as in they lose some of their character the further the story progresses. The reasoning of the villains and their actions don't match up, neither does anything progress without some extremely flimsy plot followed up by extremely thick plot armor. It's trying to be a gag-comedy but it fails miserably because of subpar storytelling, punchlines, and characters.)

Quick problems and quicker resolutions. Another series that gets the writing done too fast and leaves no suspense... more>> for the reader. The author doesn't even get the emotional rollercoaster going up to a good degree before letting the readers down. Romance is a genre where this is really important, romance never happens all at once, it's a slow accumulation of small things. Same with Hate, Envy, and pretty much everything that embodies a good villain, it's about the slow accumulation to the bursting point. If everything happens in an instant it feels unjustified, or it just doesn't make sense period. Some may argue that unjustified is good for a villain, but that's a pretty cheap villain if you ask me. A good villain has a good reason to do all the wrong things. You empathize with their reasons but you disagree with their methods. That's what makes a good villain. This series pretty much does the Chinese Xianxia thing where enemies are enemies for the sake of being enemies. Just because you're in that other school, you are now my lifelong enemy to the death, there are no in-betweens unless we are of the opposite s*x or you save the life of someone close to me. See, doesn't make sense. Evil is almost never evil for the sake of being evil (unless they are extremely socio/psychopathic in which case not sure if they can really help it), Evil is usually evil because it's something working against your interests (or someone else's interest). <<less

I'm giving a star for the translation.

Very very s*upid MC, there is no originality in the plot whatsoever. Usually I'm not the kind of person who gets fed up this early with a story but this time I honestly couldn't take it anymore...

You can feel that the author didn't think much about the story, the '' plot''is empty. You can predict pretty much everything from the first chapters.

This not the first story that I read where the MC is s*upid. Take Bakarina or Bertia for exemple, I think they are... more>> the most s*upid MCs in history ? But I really love them, the authors knew how to build a world and an environment where they can shine. They are s*upid but very charming. I think this is the problem with this story, the author wanted to go for a '' Bakarina '' type of MC but could not make her shine. <<less

Very flat characters.. And plot.. Just another generic everyone is out to get the MC.. And the MC face slapping them back with the help of everyone who somehow super into her. Very convenient politics too.

It’s really strange that the MC character development was her getting more s*upid the more male character are introduced.. In the beginning she seems to have some spine to talk back but later she becomes timid and rely solely on people around her to get the job done.. Also though the MC has future plot... more>> knowledge she is too s*upid to try to do something about it. <<less

Positives: The plot is interesting.

Negatives: The MC is too idiotic and untenable. It should have been reasonable to expect that she would have more self-awareness and a more observant, if not, suspicious nature, given that she is supposed to have a cheat by knowing about the various characters of the game. However, she goes through her life like nothing's out of the ordinary. She's annoying and it makes me want to slap her because she unwittingly places herself in danger. She is not likeable nor relatable.

I decided to try reading this despite the review. At the first 20 chapters or so, it was intriguing (especially because the plot remind me of bakarina) but then it went downhill, especially after the kidnapping arc.

I get the author's intention but seriously, the MC don't have any charm. The story basically start with all the male characters already in love with her but we really never get the reason why they love her and their interactions with the MC just make me frustrated even more.

I don't mind dense and... more>> d*mb MC, but Olga is just another level where I want to smack her head. She is really plain with no charm and she is quite selfish, especially at the kidnapping arc. It's like her mind can grasp the reason why everyone is angry at her and she just thinking about herself.

I ended up dropping this because I only interested with the male characters but the more I read the more I can't stand the MC. <<less

I feel as though I've lost brain cells from how dumb and lackluster this MC was, at least if you're this dumb there should be some comic relief but that doesn't happen either, I tried hard to like it but I gave up at chapter 24, I doubt it'll get better if I persist.

At first, the story and the MC's personality are quite unique but starting from chapter 14... God, she keeps on showing the very s*upid and careless sides of her which I abhor. I mean...

People are trying to kill her several times already and she knows it. Yet she treats the advice of her friends as merely 'overprotectiveness' and 'unnecessary'. THEN she s*upidly gets out of her classroom to take the long and lonely path where assassination attempts can be more easily done JUST BECAUSE she doesn't want to be verbally... more>> abused BECAUSE that is more important than not getting killed/physically hurt *massive eye rolls*

And the conclusion she makes afterwards?

"... I have been pushed off of the staircase by someone while on the way to Keith's classroom.

「... Ah~ I was careless」

I might have been pushed off just because I was at a deserted place.

... No, normal people don't push others off of the staircase in the first place.
Was I targeted by a hit man?

... But to think that I would get pushed off of the staircase.
Something like this wasn't supposed to happen in the game.

Is this the influence of the game story being changed?"

I'm done.

This MC is officially braindead. <<less

I'm sorry the MC is an absolute idiot with little regards to her family's and her own's safety. She wants to get away from "the plot" that isn't even there anymore? Just her being there and changing the capture targets like this SHOWS that the plot is nil!

The characters are flat, the story is s*upid and the MC has the brain of an infant. I can't recommend this to anyone that's looking for a decent villain story.

A VERY light read, good for when you are just wanting some lighthearted fluff. It is the translation that saves it from being a lower rating.
