The army drillmaster Yu Xiaoxiao (玉小小) [aka “Little Jade”] transmigrated from a zombie apocalypse world into the body of the eldest imperial princess. On her first day, she got hitched to young General Gu Xinglang (顾星朗) at the lowest point of his life: unjustly accused, imprisoned, and tortured. Ever since then, the valiant girl who only knew how to eat, sleep, and fight zombies tied her destiny with the brave general who was loyal, patriotic, stern, and taciturn.

With the country weak and enemies on all sides, the imperial palace is full of spying concubines, sycophant officials, and a fatuous, self-indulgent ruler. Beyond the court lies the populace suffering in dire poverty. Faced with these circumstances, General Gu only hopes that he can help the imperial court restore its discipline and give peace to the people.

But his wife and princess says, “Your wish is too grand. Let’s go take over the kingdom ourselves instead!”

“…….” General Gu could only remain speechless.

How does one become a royal favored by the annals of history? Yu Xiaoxiao is convinced that a truly good princess is one who dotes on her husband!

The story started out as a bit nonsensical comedy, but it's getting more nonsense than comedy. I understand the princess was reborn from apocalyptic world, and is naive about the ancient world, but it seems as if she doesn't even want to change/adapt to the new life, and still insists on behaving as she would in her old world. The reasoning that she is a foreigner from a dying world is becoming a stale joke now and beginning to get irritating. Naive is not equal to idiot - she can... more>> make penicillin out of rotten fruits, but she can't understand basic human reasoning and has to interfere in everything, irrespective of others trying to make her understand or trying to stop her - she does whatever she wants...

So, meh~ dropping it. <<less

It's as good as "Unruly Phoenix Xiaoyao", just without the cross dressing and the talking animals. Though instead of having little animals doing the intelligence work for her, MC straight up just go and visit people in the middle of the night.

Pro:

    • COMEDY GOLD (*big chef kiss*)
Con:

    • Sometimes the comedy is so good that it overshadows the plot lol.
    • The age. MC's new body is just 13. Well it's ancient time, but still!! Don't try to piak piak so soon princess : (

I highly recommend this if you're in for some quality gold comedy and just want to have a good laugh. The MC is really hillarious. She's unpredictable and it's puzzling how her mind works, I do think that maybe sometimes it's not even working ?

This novel also goes beyond common sense so if you're looking for something logical, this may not be your cup of tea and I suggest you should just plain avoid it.

I actually don't leave reviews on novels that I haven't completed yet but this one is... more>> an exception. I've been enjoying it so far and the flow is quite decent, looking forward for the remaining 1000+ chapters to be translated. <<less

The father - daughter duo is sooo funny!!! At the beginning they don’t have much of a relationship, but you can gradually see how much he comes to love her (in his own way ofc ?).
Also, her luck is GOLDEN. She goes for a stroll and just so happens to stumble upon a scheme in the making. And she ruins it!? And then her husband takes the chance to scheme against the others. And she’s standing there eating, having practically done nothing but go around playing and looking for more food!???
I hadn’t laughed that hard for a very long time....?

The novel is fantastic because the Protagonist is exactly how she should be, maybe a bit god like but definitely not a Mary Sue. Unlike other novels, she doesn't know how to scheme at all but gets lucky to see a potential future. With this knowledge she's able to avert the first scheme for her removal. However after that it's just blind luck and her husband and his family helping with scheming. I also feel the novel does a good job making her ideals make sense in the world she... more>> comes from. <<less

This novel is laugh-out-loud, wheezing soundlessly on the floor levels of hilarious. I don’t understand why some people rate it low because it’s not realistic enough. There is a subgenre of comedy called crack—it’s not supposed to be realistic. Just take everything in with a grain of salt and revel in the chaos.

At first I thought it was a pretty funny and exciting read but it just went downhill from there.

The execution and plot was very disappointing. It leaves a lot to be desired. It had a good exposition but the female lead was a turn off. She had the strength and knowledge of her previous lives but she did not utilize it wisely. She's more focus on food. There were moments that she was wise and knowledgeable with her medical/surgical prowess but she becomes s*upid when it comes to food.

I get... more>> it. You came from a zombie apocalyptic world where food is scare. But come on! With your superhuman strength coupled with your modern world life, shouldn't you be wiser and filled with common sense. Compared to ordinary weak humans, food would not have been a problem with her extraordinary strength.

In this current life, she turned out to be a cheap glutton which was one of the focal points in her character. A big turn off as the chapters progressed. Yes. It's a comic relief. But it gets pretty old when you use it all the time, author!

For an evil empress from her previous life, she would have been more experienced and wiser and would have easily took care of her enemies but she's not. The author made her more s*upid and illiterate in her present life which I don't understand when she was raised as a princess and became a powerful empress in her previous life. I don't think it it was hard to read and write at that time. It's not complex mathematics or old ancient proverbs that had to be learned. She could have learned basic reading and writing in her previous life so I don't think she should have been illiterate in this lifetime. This is one of the flaws, the author placed in her character which really did not make sense when she was an evil powerful empress in her previous life.

Too much plot armor and too much OP made the story sink. The other characters actually carried the story as the chapters progress.

Aside from her medical knowledge and experience from the past, she's really not that interesting. It really disappointed me in all honesty. It's a shame, she could have been a great character if the author didn't always try to empathize her mad focus on food. She always thinks about her stomach. Her s*upidity and denseness also got pretty old fast. The author should not have kept on pointing it out in the story, all the time. It's not a good comic relief if you kept using it again and again.

All in all, good start but terrible execution as the story progressed. <<less

So far I love it!

MC is OP with her powers and everything but due to her lack of understanding of the world, she only want to live and eat food everyday, yet she also still keep an importance of her bonds with people around her.

It's a nonsensical writing but still funny, I laughed a lot due to all of the nonsense, there is plot going on but it's pretty much happening on the background, our MC is just there to accidentally triggers it or as a bystander who got dragged... more>> in. She still solves it with her brute force though.

The thing I love most is her interaction with the ML, her Imperial Father and ML Grandfather. At first I disliked the Emperor but after awhile he just grows on you.

Still waiting on the translations, usually I'll go with MTL but this novel is just a delight for me to read on the translation site so I'm going to patiently wait for the translations! The translators did a great work <<less

This is a masterpiece. It’s the same author who wrote Unruly Phoenix Xiaocao, so if you think there’s a lot of similarities between them... you’re correct. UPX was a fun read but this novel is frankly better in every way. It is a straight up comedy so if you’re looking for deep political intrigue you’ll be disappointed, but if you’re looking for a kickass MC who just wants to live a good life while her enemies plot themselves to death around her, then this is for you!

The MC doesn’t know... more>> (and suuuuper doesn’t care) anything about life in ancient times, but she isn’t s*upid. Cultural misunderstandings abound, and often lead to hilarious (and yes, preposterous) scenes. The ML is noble, brave, capable, and utterly gobsmacked by our heroine. He recognizes and values her uniqueness pretty much from the start and he does his best to support and protect the MC (usually it’s him protecting her from the fallout of her jaw droppingly inappropriate statements lol).

The antagonists are interesting too. I hesitate to call them villains because who knows if they aren’t going to be swayed to the MCs side in another couple dozen chapters. XD There’s minimal death seeking cannon fodder, which is a relief. The emperor is indeed fatuous and s*upid, but in a more realistic way than is typical. Lots of cnovel villains are “s*upid” because they act like their entire purpose for being is to obstruct the protagonists. This guy is just not very bright and easily manipulated.
I just really like this book okay. It’s pure entertainment, wonderfully done. If you liked UPX (or even if you’ve never heard of UPX then you’ll definitely like this. If you disliked UPX, give this a try anyways! It’s definitely worth your time. <<less

  1. I read the raws. Like this novel because I find it funny and the atmosphere in the novel isnt gloomy. And female lead Yu Xiaoxiao is the strongest in their world. No one can beat her. for now, I dont like to read how an MC gets stronger (already read a lot of those type of novels) so this is a plus for me

i also like the male lead gu xinglang devotion/loyalty even though he has hard time understanding what she is saying

if you want to find a smart female lead that deals conspiracies thru wits and military strategies, yu xiao will not be one for you as she solves everything thru strength

rulers in the novel esp FL father arent smart coz the villain controls the politics so puppet emperors cant be that smart

despite the worms and zombies, I can still eat while reading thanks to Yu Xiaoxiao appetite.

Novel is light read. Not too much controversy and tragedy.

    Spoiler

the world of the original cruel empress including her male harem got destroyed by the monk villain so I guess the heavens had to give all the help lol including the female lead bumping/rescuing people while hunting rabbits or picking up corn

The story had a good start if you can forgive the ableism (but that's a common theme in chinese novels). Reminding me of a episodic, slap stick tvshow the novel ran with its comedy and it worked with its clueless but uber powerful MC, seemingly taciturn but shy male lead and the petty family drama that comes with ancient China. I didn't even mind the constant call backs to Qingyu, a concubine who really didn't deserve the screen time she recieved. However, around about chapter 70 the books jokes started... more>> falling flat. The novel seemed incapable of letting go of that one punchline and as more and more 'love interests' are introduced, you can really begin to feel the author beating the dead horse.

Another aspect I wanted to draw on, it was obvious from the first chapter that the novel was setting up for MC to become the empress, with the constant callbacks to the characters supposed future, and the comparisons to the inept emperor. However, the MC really doesn't seem that much better, from what the readers can tell thus far the extent of the MCs political knowledge and strategy is beating of bad guy, get love interest number one million and seventy two to fall for her and Gu clan saves the day by appeasing the emperor in the end. What the infinite number of male suitors she has sees in her is beyond me? Let alone her lack of emotional intelligence in how callously she treats anyone with good intentions towards her. Her mama, who is wondered because MC might be bullied by in laws, bloated. Love interest number 3 who waited to meet her all night and day, just looking for a fight from her husband. Her husband asking for privacy to get changed, shy. I understand that characters can be dense but her hurtful and fickle nature truly frustrated me to no end.

TLDR read the first few chapters, they will make you cackle out loud. But as soon as it starts to drag drop it, there really isn't any redemption for it later on. <<less

I’m sorry I just can’t continue with this. This is basically a nonsense genre where nothing makes sense and I’ve read some others like this but this is the worst no explanation of how or why she kept her powers why she’s able to use them and she’s kinda dumb she’s your typical blockhead with fighting skills.

Great romance, the author really listened to readers when they said UPX's ML is a scum of a human being (Which he really is, please *don't* EVER read that novel, just read this one). The author made it to be so that the ML here is the exact opposite of UPX's, where here, he's kind and very thoughtful for MC. I also like how unconvential and how the MC doesn't follow the script kind of like Shi Sheng so the schemes and conspiracies of the antagonists get thrown off and... more>> fails often.

Also the MC here is fierce and doesn't take sh*t from no one, no matter how naive/innocent her personality is. <<less

Wow it's so long. I really like Unruly Phoenix XiaoYao and so I wanted to read this for a long time. The author used the same humor as UPXY here. It is funny. Although the FL is really funny and is omnipotent, it's not the same as UPXY in terms of the sentiments. Maybe because I MTL'd more than a thousand of chapters and the humor got lost in translation. And although it's really long, I did wish for more fanwai because it feels like the ending is rushed (ironically).... more>> Plot-wise, it's ok. Xiaoxiao transmigrated into the Princess of Fentian and like UP, she still got her powers from the apocalypse. I won't say she's dumb, she just has no culture and has a different wavelength as the ancient people around her. I remember in UP, the main issue that XY has a problem with is that she's a woman pretending to be the emperor and she has to always observed filial piety and so, she is very careful and couldn't just go about killing the villains at will to resolve the issue of the country. In here, XX has no concept of filial piety nor concept of any rules, she just bashes anyone and anything to fix the issue and is basically lawless and favored by the king. Why the villain was not resolved immediately was that because he runs away from her.

I think my most fave character her is XX father, the emperor or Fentian. He was deemed as a useless dad at first, but later, the story shows him as a kind and tolerant dad. <<less
