Heroic Death System

“I curse you to never die in peace!”

Thus, Shang Ke started a never-ending cycle of constantly throwing away his miserable life.

He would always show himself as a martyr while letting others cry over his death.

It was because of a woman’s curse that Shang Ke was hit by a car and turned into a human vegetable. This led to him becoming bound by an unlucky system in which he was cursed to die. The most unfortunate part was that he never cheated on anyone’s feelings. The reason for why he was cursed by a woman was because of a guy named Qi Chen. Qi Chen was a ladies man, and he would always use Shang Ke as an excuse to break up with any woman that he was with. As a result, Shang Ke was always blamed for the breakups. Since then, the main character could only be forced to cross into different worlds. He would thus experience for himself, the hero’s “thrill”.

5/5 perfection! One of the Top Notch BL QT.

I read this a long time ago, and still occasionally re-read some arcs whenever I miss the story.

I don't remember much anymore, but I can say that this is one of the first Quick Transmigration BL that I've read together with QWTFD. It opened up a new world to me haha.

... more>> Since I've been re-reading this, it means I loved it a lot, thus giving it 5 star.

The translations is great, thanks translator for picking this masterpiece!

The ARCS themselves are amazing and there are plenty of arcs. The MC's strategy and will is great. The plot twist about the ML identity is a chef's kiss. The arcs are explained properly with no sudden loopholes. It may sound like I'm just blowing bubbles but it's really good, can be considered as the Father of BL QT.

• Highly Recommended!

feels kinda eh on both writing and characters being unique. Theres really nothing that stands out from the mc/ML other than the typical beauty/beastly handsome combo

good for mind numbing read if you can ignore the plot and inconsistent writing

The MC is always fighting a losing battle, even if he won temporarily it'll be pointless since he'll die again. Even the RE episodes didn't fix much since he'd always encounter villains and unfavorable situations even with the help of ML.

There wasn't much to speak about his personality since he appeared to always went with the flow (plot).

The ML was the basic monotonous type of them all and very r*pe-y.

... more>> The reason for his transmigration was also for the pettiest thing called JEALOUSY.

This novel is pretty basic if you're into QT genre. Some worlds weren't that interesting, and their original world's arc was a boring melodrama littered with infuriating side charas. <<less

It’s been a while since I’ve finished this novel and I have to say this is still one of the best quick transmigration novels I have ever read! The plot is thick and every lifetime is so meaningful that you do not want their story to end and proceed to the next world. I cried a lot reading this but I do NOT regret it. I grew more humble watching the protagonist on his spiritual journey (this is just my opinion anyway) and I can only admire him for his... more>> selflessness and unconditional love. It’s not some fickle romance novel. You do not forget the story after you read it. Those lessons you learned will be ingrained in your mind (especially the emotional ones) and will teach you how to be more compassionate towards other fellow human beings.
Usually I get scared of reading other tragedy novels after I read one but with this one I tried to find something like this but it is just impossible. I think “how to die as heavy as mount Tai” is similar but it’s definitely not on par with this. So yeah, this is just my opinion and everyone is free to decide whether it was worth reading it or not, but I definitely recommend it! <<less

It was a good read! There are so many arcs ... more>>
Spoiler

including the re: versions which were high tier cause I haven't read any QT novels that dared to go back to previous worlds, like literally almost all the prev worlds, I liked it very much, they were so satisfying, and we got to know what happened on the first life first and how shang ke changed the predestined future, I also liked how those worlds were not dragged too long, it was just the right amount of chapters.

[collapse]

For the characters:

Spoiler

System/reincarnation lamp/mole - hahaha I liked how it didn't intervene much in the arcs and was really just there to instruct the host, didn't make the worlds feel unreal like a game, even tho it technically is. The plot twist with its identity was not something I expected lol, to find out it was the mole was heart breaking, esp when he separated from the main body, aww. It was so funny how he was recommending a harem to Shang ke Hhahahaha. I love how Shang Ke chose to play with him for a while aww, #Deservedt

ML Chen Xiao, etc - Honestly, , the mole had more like, presence than him??, cause he didn't have their memories even until the end, it was a pity, but that was the concept of the mole so it's a bittersweet situation for Shang Ke. He literally started from the top to bottom HAHAHAHA He was so gentle and good in the beginning arcs and gradually became a scum HAHAHHA he was literally raping Shang Ke in the This life arc, which made some readers disappointed, tho I wasn't cause I already accepted him and knows that if Shang Ke really didn't want to, he would have a way I think? Either way, it was really a pity that we didn't get to see him with all the memories. On the Re: versions, he was always so pitiful whenever Shang ke left, I am so happy that Shang Ke was able to return back. It was surprising how he got the memories in the Re: versions but it was a good call. At least we get to see how he would act when he had the previous memories. Btw I like how the smexy scenes aren't censored altho also not that explicit, just the right amount that gives more life/ reality feels to the novel.

MC Shang Ke - first of all, I love him, how he is so cool. I loved him in every arc, I love his mindsets, I love how he changes and how decisive he is. He is just a perfect MC, he did all the work in the reincarnations cause his ML already did his part by giving them a chance at normal reincarnations despite Wu du's curse. I like how he approaches the worlds differently, and with changing goals. Lol with some of his confusion when his ML sense was failing. I LOVED how he is always face slapping the annoying people during the Re: versions for the sake of the people important to him hehehe. I just love him, I'm gonna miss a cool, handsome, respected, talented, OP shou MC like him.

[collapse]

For the arcs:

Spoiler

Arc 1: Ravel (future emperor) x Cage (tortured traitor) - lol, I must say this was a really good start cause it was really funny and I actually love how at first it seemed like our ML is so good but it's actually cause he just literally can't do anything to Shang Ke in this arc HAHAAHA when u though this was gonna be censored 👀 HAHAHA anw I really liked this, lol with completing the mission, sitting, standing and lying down AHHAHAHAHA the Re: version was also satisfying, I actually really like ravel. I'm always fond of the first arc ML heheh

Arc 2: Brother of a girl (Jian Chenfeng) x Inlove with the girl - I can say that this was really sad for the ML. Esp when shang ke died, cause it involves his sister. This was the arc where shang ke realizes a bit of his feelings but doesn't act on it cause he was gonna die sooner or later. Hmm, I liked the re: version cause he was introduced to ML's friends

Arc 3: Prince (Tylor) x King devil apostle - There was pupu (?) here hehehe cutie and also kaiser?. I liked this, the ML was a surprise here and the this is where Shang ke really did many things lol like cooking in restaurants and teaching, I really like shang ke hng. The ending was sad and when he died tylor and pupu are so pitiful 😔, the re:version was so satisfying, with how how happy they became and pupu played with others, I love them.

Arc 4: Feng juan (childhood friend?) x stronger/older childhood friend - Aww this was a surprise, Im glad they got to experience an arc from friends, shang ke is so cool here hehehe the ending was surprising omy, it was a fail world and there were no re: version = (

Arc 5: Devil cultivator (Yan Lu) x Little mushroom - This was the first arc where they really DID the deed lol, it was veryy surprising, I though this was gonna be censored but Yan Lu was so crazy lol. Shang ke really worked hard here lol. This was the first time that the ML didn't like treated shang ke as a real treasure? Like he treats him more normally here, the re: version was nice but still sad, there was little deer and the rabbit hhahaa. Lol with the transform?? Or change to another personality ahhahaa I was so angry when ML was being bullied in the beginning, aww. The re: version was once cause shang ke became an important figure and got the help of people hehehe The ending was complicated cause of the divine retribution and all.

Arc 6: Alpha older (rhine) x newcomer alpha - This was nice lol, ML didn't have the mole here so shang ke was confused, ML was really overbearing here, and lol with how shang ke said that ' in this world, you can r-pe with just scent' AHAHHAHA it's true tho HAHAHAH shang ke really experience the ABO world here heeheh this was hot hehehe shang ke was OP, I like how he was strong here hihi, there was also zeke here who he tried to u know and I oop- hahahhaha ML be so mad, the ending was really sad and the ML became so scary when he died. The re: version was nice, ML's memories was jumbled in the beginning and he was so good HAHAHAHA just following shang ke. Hahhahah he was still scary but I'm glad he became happy.

Arc 7: Investor/Young master (Qin lu) x dolphin (flames) - heheh waves was cute, lol with the first mission of becoming human food, so good that he transformed, the little merfolks aww, the annoying doctor ugh, shang ke's sacrifice hehe. The re: version was satisfying cause Qin lu was so sad and really detached from the world, he lost waves and flames and the merfolks aww, when shang ke came back he even thought he let shang ke suffer because of the coffin/box he put him in, I'm so glad shang ke got to know bout it and made an excuse aww. Top waves is lol HAHAHAHA, I love how this was the start of merman world hehehe

Arc 8: King's brother (Lu xiufan) x covenantor - tsk tsk, shang ke's body was really bullied here, I can't believe how a talented person became an emotionless and useful tool cause of some scheming sighh, so gladd that shang ke gave them a lesson hmp. Lol with how shang ke worked hard to be straight faced here hahahah esp the part where he was thinking how to have no expression during smexy times haahha. His missions here were really nice and he was OP here so love ehehhee. His death here was so surprising lol, being smashed by a chair? The re: version hmm, Lu xiufan was pitiful, esp the part where he saw the pics aww, glad they became happy in the end.

Arc 9: War God (saya) x Evil God (unos) - I liked this cause there were many 'love rivals' lol, yitamo and the love god and the girl. The ending was really complicated so I didn't get it much, this was really funny cause he was always being teased and with his mask and skirt hahaha there was no re: version cause it was a fail I think?? Or not? The ending was just confusing here, with him waking up with saya every now and then but his mind was hazy.

Arc 10: Dark Sentinel (Yonis) x S rank Guide - oh this was so fast, I liked how shang ke really did his best here from the terrorism to the assassination attempts heheh he's so cool. He's death was unexpected and ooh he was pregnant!! The re:version was so satisfying cause when he dies leo and yonis are pitiful, I am soooo glad that Leo was able to have his memory from the previous world cause he deserves so much better!, ML really just be lost when shang ke died aw. I am soo glad leo got to experience having an OP mom like shang ke HAHAHAH def deserved, I really liked this re: arc, the whole family was OP and lol with the twins!!! I wanted more! Hhahhaa

Arc 11: Ugly Phantom jade vessel (Ivan) x Teldrassil branch - this lol with the dream lock, the elves are so cute but so pitiful, the specters are too OP ugh, shang ke was just really cute here hahaha ML really had no confidence here aww the re:version was more memorable for me, when shang ke died oh my ivan and the elves were soo pitiful, I'm so glad that he face slapped those mixed elves who didn't know the difference between pure and mixed hmp, and gave a loss to those invading specters hmp

Arc 12: Business man (Wen jingrong) x Evil pen - lol, when he got back to normal modern world but he is not normal!! HAHAHA The way shang ke tried the 'love-hate relationship' here HAHAHHA u wish, u so weak to ur man. He OP here hehehe and cute with how he can be small and all hehehe when he died ML was sad, and when he knew shang ke is being hurt when they're together aww, the mole really be hurting the main soul with those memories loll. The re:version was nice cause shang ke got to use the blessing of ML and all that.

Arc 13: A bit autistic ghost seeing young master (Shang feidu) x vengeful ghost - hmp those people hurting Dudu and made him autistic hmp, so glad shang ke kicked all of their asses hmp. Again with the modern world but shang ke is not normal! HAHAHA This was nice, lol with the first fail in body finding, and their attacks to the media with their love hahahha all purpose keke hehehe this was a perfect world! So there was no re: version

Arc 14: Lion king (mutu) x Mute fox (yanu) - hmm another perfect world!! Shang ke getting good ah! Idk what to say really, the revenge were satisfying, oh now I remember ugh, the killing attempt of that damn doctor ugh, shang ke was so sad and I was so anxious if ML would realize in time!! Shang ke was OP here ehehhe again. The fact that he really got to experience the golden finger here cause of finishing all the missions hahahah

Arc 15: Zombie king (Di kui) x Passerby A immortal - lol with his name here hahahha oh shang ke was pitiful here cause of the deaths, also, ML really killed him lol, I love zombie arcs, but the mid and end of this was really confusing and wasn't explained as good as I wished it was, at the very least, I understood at the end or after reading this arc that huo xuan was the mole, aww.

Arc 16: Real world, Wei xun x Shang ke - this. This was actually quite sad. ML wasn't so overbearing here compared to other worlds, IN A WAY that he isn't as powerful, but he is forceful to shang ke huhu, the readers really hated his r-ping tendency. It was good that shang ke thought him in the latter part. Lol with that family making things hard for shang ke hmp. Qi chen (wu du) tsk tsk. The death of Shang ke was so sad here tho aw, I hate ML's family hmp.

Last life: There wasn't much, I'm just happy that shang ke wouldn't have to seek death now. I'm just amazed by how he doesn't complain about being the only one who remembers everything, that actually kinda sucks u know.

[collapse]

It was a nice and long read, a bit of attachment ot our cool MC but not much to the ML hehehe, reread? Hmmm I don't think so? It's quite memorable so I might remember it easily if I reread it. <<less

This was such an unexpected yet wonderful journey to me. Loved everything about this novel and really appreciated author's thoughtfulness and translator's hardwork.

I didn't even know 275 was the last chapter and almost cried when I couldn't find next button. Their love their story and everything about this novel was amazing you would never regret reading it.

Shang Ke is the most precious MC to me. Honestly he can fit every standard for FL or ML in novels. Can I have my own Shang Ke?

10 out of 5.

I should've read the tags first. While the plot's interesting, what got me bored was actually how weak MC is towards ML. He just lets ML do as he pleases (yes, I'm talking about s*x). After the 4th arc wherein the ML forced himself onto the MC, I then decided to drop this. I don't see any chemistry between them AT ALL. It would've been better if the story progresses more and MC really showed himself genuinely falling in love with the ML. Idk if it's just me but it... more>> looks like it was just out of pity when he said he'd try it out with the ML after he'll transmigrate in the next world.

Still thankful for the translation team but really, if you're planning to read this, check out the TAGS first! <<less

One of my first and favorite QTs. I'll write a long review with individual arc summaries and thoughts once I reread. Super heartwarming novel, especially because of one thing that I don't see often in other world hopping novels:

Spoiler

As you'd probably expect, all the arc endings are quite sad, considering the fact that the MC has to die in order to complete his missions. But there are world revisits! Occasionally, the author will write a revisit instead of the next arc, which I loved because although I am a sucker for angst, sometimes it's hard to move on from a sad ending. So happy that the MC and ML of almost every arc could have their own little HE. Although... there was an arc that I was really eager to see a HE for... but that arc ended up being one of the few that didn't get a revisit.

[collapse]

I very much recommend this QT, and can say that it is one of the best and most original amongst others that are available. <<less

(Please take this review with a grain of salt because it was a long time since I've read this.)

I really enjoyed the journey but I had to drop it because I noticed that the author added a certain thing to the story that didin't add up. At first I ignored it because I was so close to the end, but as I read on the story felt more hollow and even had certain aspects that you would find in an average fanfic.

This addition not only bellitel the message... more>> in some of the arcs but also felt really OOC.

I would rate the story 5 stars but after there were only re: arcs it dropped to 2.5.

Spoiler

I am talking about the addition of kids. In re: arcs MC and MC has in some form a child either by seeds from the tree, adopting an orphan, ABO setting and so on. But I didn't get the impression that either of them wanted to have kids. Not to mention that both of them were not the best kind of parents.

ML is the kind of ML who thinks about having s"x all the time, even in front of their children he thinks of f'cking MC. ML also neglected their children which in turn made them believe that ML didin't love them. Also he inadvertently killed children left by MC after his death by not caring for their wellbeing. He is dismissive of their children and only has MC in his heart. He even feels jealous of their young child who wants to be with MC.

MC in these arcs is more often portrayed as the male version of Saint Mary. Always perfect, best parent of the year and so on. But it is starting to read as a parody, a caricature. Also, it doesn't feel like he even thought of having kids? I distinctly remeber that when the system told him other male could have kids he felt uncomfortable, but in the re: arcs he is suddenly okay with it?

The addition of kids felt very random because it just happend. No talks about parenthood, no nothing discussing with ML about responsibilities, nothing. Just the miracle of life

In my opinion, the addition of kids feel very OOC for both of them. Also it ruined some of my favorite arcs which I though were intresting and going against the norm. So I was greatly disappointed when I noticed this trend. For me it dropped the rating drastically.

In the past, this novel is one of the most popular when compared to other novels.

The popularity has even reached the point where no one is unaware of this novel.

Back then, even you compared it with "Quickly Wear The Face Of Devil" this novel is still much more popular.

... more>> The popularity of this story itself began to sink due to the translation which took a long time (If I'm not mistaken it took more than two years).

Apart from that problem, this novel also has an unclear main plot (The main storyline behind the system is made only roughly without a definite explanation).

So even though this story has a unique "Quick Transmigration" and also has a good story in each transmigration which makes it popular. It is still useless if the storyline of the main world that MC life and the origin of MC and ML is not well explained.

Spoiler

The saddest thing is also in the ending.

After the main problem is over MC is no need to sacrifice himself in every reincarnation / transmigration, But he will always be reincarnated with his memories while on the other hand ML still won't have any memories from his previous life.

There is also a problem with half of the ML souls who will never reunite and will forever become a system.

[collapse]

The point is don't expect the main storyline of this story, because it will only disappoint you.

But if it's just a story about every world the MC enters then you can expect it, because it was really good.

Spoiler

Reason why I give 5 stars is because the storyline of every world that MC enters, is not because of the main storyline. (I mean the main story is garbage, which doesn't even deserve 2 stars)

Because the more you read every world that MC enters. The more you realize there is many "QT" novels that have the exact same story as this novel (What I mean by "same" here is not based on the genre, but comes from the plot and storyline).

Fun read overall, if you're not too nitpicky with the details. I enjoyed much of the world building, especially about the Covenantor arc, it was a setting I've never seen before, and would love to know more about.

What made it fun was the translator stockpiled a lot, and you could really just read ahead on all the arcs along the way before it was officially released as they went back to edit it.

There were a few aspects of this story I was rather disappointed... more>> in. Such as the re-do arcs, mostly because the ML doesn't do well after our beloved MC leaves the world in a tragic, heroic death. Everything he works to accomplish, like saving the world, sometimes results in the world not doing so hot.

One arc that really annoyed me was that in one of the worlds, the MC was pregnant, and left behind a child that was neglected by the ML.

I don't understand how this has such a high rating. It was an alright read that I'd rate a 3.5 if we're to ignore the ML's disgusting personality. The arcs were alright. Some of them I really liked and some just felt really boring. Most of the settings were unique though which was great. So many arcs in BL novels are overused that this felt like a nice breath of fresh air (emperor x minister, celebrity x CEO, intergalactic general x soldier are all so overused). There are a lot... more>> of people who are comparing it to Quickly Wear the Face of the Devil and I don't think they're on the same tier at all. HDS is a lot less particular with details and it didn't give me the same feeling that FOD did. The romance was pretty bland. There was nothing interesting or unique about it and it was always a "true love on sight" type thing in every arc. Justify it all you want by saying it was feelings accumulated from past worlds but it was boring to read about.

To be honest, I might have still read this through to the end and rated this higher if it was just these two problems. As I said, I'm pretty tolerant with books, especially if they're within the genre of QT since they're usually not written to impress but to gratify the readers. The thing that truly made me drop this, though, was how r*pe-y the ML was. And I quote "If (MC) eventually refused him, then (ML) would have to use 'force'." It's not hot, it's not 'manly' or 'domineering', it's straight up the ML saying he was gonna r*pe the MC if he refused him. The MC technically consents to this entire thing but the ML doesn't know that. Perhaps if it was less emphasised on, I'd pretend I didn't see it and move on but this kept happening in almost every single arc. It totally ruined my image of the ML. To me now, I don't think he truly even loves the MC because of the way he treats MC like a precious object instead of an actual human being. He's indifferent to the MC's feelings when he's h*rny and will just do whatever he wants with the MC without any consideration. It looks more like a psychotic c*cktail of obsession and lust.

It takes a very tolerant reader to take this book up. Proceed with caution and good luck. <<less

Right off the bat; I want to state:
If you do not like main characters with these certain traits:
-oppressive, both to strangers and domestically in another way other than radiating iciness
- satyromaniac s*x offender
-values his own interests the most
-controlling, would distance you from society if that means to get more time on hand with you
-unhealthy levels of jealousy
... you might want to stay FAR FAR away.
(Some of these traits are an on and off thing, consistently ones are >satyromaniac rapist, >jealousy... more>> and >control freak.)

The reviews of this novel is definitely overrated, undermining the toxicity in a domestically abusive relationship. Although of consent and acceptance, MC would mostly identify ML by his oppressive, tyrannical and scummy aura.
Even with the mind set of reading it just for fun, the ML managed to touch my bottom line repetitively in each and every arc without rest.
He treats MC like an object, a most convenient must-have household appliance that serves well for housekeeping and bed warming. ML dotes on MC more like an owner dotes a pet than offering mutual respect one would to their equal and significant other. He hates that MC can be independent, he wants him to fully rely on him, is disgruntled by his competence and smarts. He LOATHES seeing MC with ANYBODY, nobody but himself is allowed to be near, has no trust and faith in MC and would drive off others before MC can do it himself (and I mean that in a bad way, treating him like his belonging every time declaring his "ownership" over MC).
The smut can't be completely called smut, it's written repetitively in "oh they do a long long time, lots of poses, all over the house and hey forced sudden entry every time, yay!" Rofl, if you're so hard into an*l fissures and all that skin trauma, go ahead.
Also, holy crap, wtf is wrong with this author leaving children characters in ML's care? Always ending up being neglected or treated with "harsh love" or dump them off somewhere else by this f**ker.
Spoiler

Hi, let's have s*x while our kid's sleeping right next to us. Also oops, accidentally neglected multiple lolis and biological kids into deadly depression? Doesn't matter either way when ML lost MC, nothing f*cking matters, yes, not even his kids.
By dry unprepared penetration isn't what I meant with r*pe.

Beside occasionally often finding ML penetrating him in his sleep, at some early instances at their encounters where MC was unsure of his identity and had rigorously and fervently rejected him but got pushed down and fully "loved" through anyway. You want to tell me he isn't a criminal when he self declares he's here to r*pe him? Yikes, some reviewers got issues.
The zombie arc was DARK: snuff, guro, gore galore.
I could elaborate on multiple instances of how much of a tr*sh person he is, but just thinking back disgusts me. And if you know my reviews, you know I don't mind go into a lengthy drawn out analysis on sh*t characters. But heck, to each their own, go ahead and experience the same type of treatment and tell me again if it's cute or not.

[collapse]
Worst of it all, MC doesn't care. He willingly indulges ML in on all these offenses. You can quite literally label him as a push-over.

Two stars is the most I can squeeze out; positives are that it's focused on the couple mostly, not overly dramatic but all these points can be twisted around.
You can say that the author tunnel-visions too hardly on the couple and each arc have a lot of loose ends.
It certainly lacks the similarity to "Quickly Wear the Face of the Devil" unlike many suggest. No depth, twists, highlights. It's a monotone blind dry obsession of two idiots.
MC arguably has no character, the things he does are for the missions or ease the missions and that's all the focus is on. I do wish I got to see more inner monologue of both mains.
Spoiler

Once MC dies off, ML full turns destructive towards everything and everyone. All of MC's effort will turn up for naught. Each and every arc ends up with the death of MC and you don't get follow-ups unless MC can revisit the worlds. Greatest tragedy is that MC has never been loved properly and normally by ML.

[collapse]
Author's got some issues themselves... much need counselling required if they believe this is an idyllic relationship strung across time and space. From begin til end, all of it was revolting.

Side Notes: Great translation team. To the readers/reviewers: Stop aligning the two novels, this heap pile of steaming sh*t cake with another great QT novel just because it's QT. <<less

Dropped.

When I first started this novel, I was on a binge to read transmigration/qt type novels because there’s just something so interesting about someone getting yoinked from their timeline and tossed into another.

Its intriguing to see how they’re forced to deal with the different kinds of difficulties they get thrown at them, so yes. I initially highly rated this because the first several arcs are highly interesting. But somewhere along the way, I began to get highly annoyed.

it was the same plot line just with different themes. And what I... more>> mean by that is, MC gets pushed into a new world > MC realizes he’s in some shit, (whether it’s self made or traps by the villain) > ML pops up as the most successful and hands MC a silver platter to get him out of it.

At first, the Author clearly showed the MC as a character that handle sh*t on his own, granted he developed skills in the system, he still was able to make his own way and didn’t want to depend on the ML, but somewhere after the elf one and in between the ghost pen and mermaid one he just ended up as the basic bottom trope where he’s constantly reliant on his ML and immediately looking for him.

I understood that it was supposed to come off as “i love him so much as long as I can meet him in each world I’ll be happy no matter how many times I die.” but somehow that got twisted and it just became “tasks? What’s that? Who cares where’s my man?” and then the tasks and overcoming the worlds became secondary.

Honestly I was going to keep reading just for the same of trying to finish it, but God idk what it is about these Qt novels where the ending arcs are always the same “yt he life you thought was your original life wasn’t actually real, you were never even from ‘earth’ as you know it and are, in fact!, from a whole other world. Your soul is trapped because you and your lover word sabotaged!!” tropes it was a wild ride the first time, interesting the second, and by the third I’m just over it.

I started the Zombie arc but ended up deciding to drop it three chapters in due to, what I felt, was an obvious ending. And because if I was right, that obvious ending is so unrealistic from a mental level it’s not even funny. Though, tbh mentally, none of this sh*t would be realistic as much as MC is forced into s*xual relations, but that a whole other rant that I can’t even scrounge up the energy to begin, because that’s a trope I’ll NEVER understand. <<less

Note: Translations by SnowyCodex go beyond what's listed at Novel Updates - currently it's on 209 chapters.

This novel is such a guilty pleasure and it is quite a fun and easy read if you enjoy the Transmigration genre!

Strengths
Let's start with what's great: each arc is quite self-contained - with fun settings (e.g. fantasy /cultivator / apocalyptic) and it's really easy to whiz through each story. The MC is caring, funny, earnest, hardworking and very lovable. I really adore the MC! And really feel for the MC (as... more>> the title suggests, the arcs can get quite tragic and devastatingly so). I enjoy how emotionally intense the arcs get and I'm a sucker for tragedy and painful moments so this is good. The RE arcs are the best (
Spoiler

i.e. RE arcs are where MC returns to the previous worlds

Weaknesses
However, the ML by contrast is genuinely a terrible person with a super stunted EQ who does not treat the MC well overall. IMO, the ML is only kind and tolerable in a few certain arcs (e.g. first four arcs, arc 7 etc) so if that's a concern for you, read only the first few arcs to get a gauge of how 'good' the MC can be on their best behaviour. Believe me, ML's behaviour goes downhill as the novel progresses.

Simply put, the ML does not deserve the MC in general with the exception of a few arcs.
Spoiler

ML frequently r*pes the MC in many of the arcs- granted, it's dubcon most of the time as the MC wants it but may be acting otherwise... but the ML doesn't know that the MC is acting. It gets particularly terrible in the 'Evil Pen' arc where the ML literally kidnaps, stalks, falsely imprisons and essentially r*pes the MC with the MC outwardly resisting and trembling.

[collapse]

Another weakness in general is that the author really likes to info-dump when entering a new world/arc. The world-building explanations can get quite perfunctory and can be pretty shallow at times. However, some worlds are definitely better than others.

Last weakness is that some arcs are just not that great - for some arcs the premise can be quite shallow, and the overall plot for the arc isn't always entertaining (I did not like the Evil Pen arc or the Mushroom arc) but I note that you can always skip. The few few arcs are the strongest imo.

Conclusion
Guilty pleasure - still fun to read with interesting worlds and good dose of drama/tragedy, but do not expect too much depth and especially avoid if you want genuinely loving and caring MLs!

well... Mtl is unreadable, so I had to stick to translation, so it really has been a while.... Btw the translation is outstanding)

I can conclude that it is a great novel overall, with versatile plots, plus tragic endings that boost my reading spirit. (But HE in the end, so no worries) I enjoyed almost everyone of them, both plot and romance.

Totally recommended to qt lovers 😍.

Longest novel I've ever read...*phewww*... I never got bored in any chapter tho? MC is amazing and ML is possessive like many novels of same genre but you'll not hate him... he's likable..

They are somewhat like fated lovers... fated to love each other...

I feel bad for ML every time MC leaves a world... basically die..

Spoiler

We get rearcs where MC can change his fate of dying (heroically) ? My fav thing.

[collapse]

Translation quality is also good but it's a bit slow... you can read all chapters in mtl tho... it's just a bit pain in *ss??

MC is not white lotus or weak shou type... he is powerful has his own judgement.. totally my ideal type shou...

As for the ML
Spoiler

* whispers* he loses his memory after the arc ends.

It totally deserves 5 star ?. <<less

Personally, I am enjoying the novel. The translations are top notch!

The concept puts a fun twist on typical quick-wear novels, and the MC's inner dialogues are entertaining to read when the plot seems stagnant. the system, as usual is a gold finger- but cold-stoned bit*h LMAO

But, I do have a bone to pick with the ML. This novel has the typical black-bellied ML, who shows possessiveness as love, (and yes, I did read the tags, I'm just always disappointed with author's blatant disrespect to the fact that r*pe is... more>> a horrible, horrible thing and shouldn't be sexulized in any way...i Will throw hands) like, , , , cut the cameras, deadass. BUT, many of the encounters ? are consensual,

Spoiler

but arc 6 was a real doozy lmao

[collapse]

anyways, its a playful novel that you should definitely read, with absolutely BANGING translations and some wild ? ? scenes

(and let me repeat: possessiveness is not love! respect your partner! if I catch any of yall doing the sh*t the CP does, its jail time honey! ? ?✌️) <<less

Heroic Death System is a story that I will reread all over again, depending on the arc that I actually miss. As someone who spends most of their time reading QT novels and System Administrator novels, this one has been a huge favorite of mine.

As for Shang Ke, he was one of my favorite things to read in this novel. He first started out as someone who just does what the system asks him since he simply wanted to go home but after being sent into different worlds, he wanted... more>> what was the best for the original owner of the body he was currently inhabiting, and I think that its amazing. This immediately reminded me of my favorite QT novel protagonist, Chi Xiaochi from Don't Pick Up Boyfriends From the tr*sh Bin.

The plot for the different worlds was amazing. They differ in terms of progression and dept. Although, since you can already guess from the title, Shang Ke needs to die heroically. Meaning, there would be onions cut in every arc.

I wouldn't elaborate on the ML in this novel, but he seemed fun in some arcs. There are just some characters that I actually prefered than him in other arcs.

Spoiler

Like for example, Kaiser in arc 4. I loved how he was very kind and undemanding to Shang Ke at that world, but maybe its just my preference in MLs.

[collapse]

In conclusion, Heroic Death System is one novel that QT novels shouldn't miss. <<less
