Heroic Death System

“I curse you to never die in peace!”

Thus, Shang Ke started a never-ending (forced) cycle of constantly throwing away his miserable life.

He would always show himself as a martyr while letting others cry over his death.

It was because of a woman’s curse that Shang Ke was hit by a car and turned into a human vegetable. This led to him becoming bound by an unlucky system in which he was cursed to die. The most unfortunate part was that he never cheated on anyone’s feelings. The reason for why he was cursed by a woman was because of a guy named Qi Chen. Qi Chen was a ladies man, and he would always use Shang Ke as an excuse to break up with any woman that he was with. As a result, Shang Ke was always blamed for the breakups. Since then, the main character could only be forced to cross into different worlds. He would thus experience for himself, the hero’s “thrill”.

I caught up with all of the translated but unedited chapters in one day. I started reading this series this morning on a whim, and read it non-stop until now. Snowy-sama has found another winner! This is one of those irresistible, can't-put-down series that keeps me intrigued by suspense and all the different scenarios. Although the main character and love interest are the two most fleshed-out characters, other side-characters have some meat, details, and personal motivations to go along with them as well. I love reading about the MC's tragic... more>> deaths, one after the other.

There is plenty of excitement and adventure outside of the romance. <<less

Most pitiful person is the ML, and this is despite the fact that the MC continuously dies. He’s fighting the system and he knows he’ll come back by the ML continuously loses him and doesn’t know he’ll be reborn to suffer loss again QAQ

It’s a 3.5, Well, it’s not too deep, and there’s reflection on life or philosophy, the characters are a bit better than paper thin, but the variety of universe is pretty nice, making for fun and mostly original worlds hopping.

The relationship between the character is mostly cute and ok - if you can live with many BL stereotype, and by that I mean, one man and one « female » man - it’s not excessive but appart from boyish skills, the MC is still having a lot of « good... more>> wife » attributes (infinite care and patience for a buzzling hyper child.. Oups I meant husband - Thankfully, it is still low key, it’s more like a flavor than a plain boring narrative.

Despite this not too fascinating premise, I appreciate the fact that the MC is neither OP or totally powerless, and the relationships are mostly balanced too.

The « heroic » part make him de very non ambiguous good guy, but the story invitation for tragedy actually add lots of possibilities for different kind of endings, and a few surprises. Added to the pretty original universe, while it certainly won’t be too deeply remembered, it still made for an enjoyable read

I seriously could have done without the quasi s*x episodes : they add nothing to the story, and the « quasi » part make for an awkward addition (it actually add to the « male/feminized male thing, with the usual one is a hungry beast thing, but at least, the other one still enjoy thankfully). Maybe some readers will appreciate the very non explicit/explicit addition, but I usually don’t understand the narrative purpose (except maybe in the last arc, because it actually does have a story interest), but in all case, that or an ellipse would be the same. Well at least, it is Pretty much integrated in the story, and it is in no way disruptive of the storytelling which is a good point.

That’s about it, I did not cry bucket, as it did not play so badly on my heartstring. I certainly shed a few tears here and there as i’m a super little heart when it comes to sad things, but it never was unbearable : it is within the calculation of the protagonist. If I think a bit, there quite a few horrible things but I don’t know, it feels a bit distant in way ? Maybe because the MC is himself is very detached from all of that, it certainly removes you a bit from empathizing too much ? So depiste the title, and quite a few tragic episode, it did not feel like a tragedy either :) <<less

I love this novel and hoped for Shang ke being able to visit all the previous worlds that he will obtain given by the system as he continue his journey. I am looking forward for the update, for who knows how long. I'll persevere patiently!! 爆! 爆! *\ (☆□☆) ≫

I’ve cried plenty but the story quickly gets repetitive, while taking its own unique spin on the system setting.
There is dubcon (dubious consent) as a relevant theme with all the world hopping. The situations themselves are not orthodox and with how much a sad*st the author truly is, it’s entertaining.
Know before hand that this story can be rather triggering as it tries to introduce plot lines that deal with racial, interracial, religious, objectification, and other contexts to add to the variety of the worlds.

And perhaps some day I’ll type single word impressions of what arcs been translated so far.

I really like this story. It's part of a few novels that I would re read over and over again. The MC is not like a lot of the MC in world hopping novel. He's not manipulative, revenge-thirsty, all in all a very decent human being so it was like a breath of fresh air and it really appeal to me.

This is great! Best multiple-world hopping novel I've read so far! Note: No description of any yaoi or heavily flirtatious scenes, didn't even tussle in bed until half-way through the fourth arc.

Plot: 5/5

Since the goal is always so closely related to "death", there's a lot of opportunities to tug at heart strings and play with emotions, making the drama and suspense especially effective since we know the MC could actually die. However, even though he dies, we as readers know it's not his end; we feel the emotions of a... more>> tragic situation without it's repercussions! Especially the first situation about Cage, wow.

Again, like other world hopping novels, the biggest benefit of this set-up is that stories aren't needlessly dragged longer since the MC can just move onto the next world. However, I feel this story, in particular, does a good job of fully exploring each world and situation while maintaining a good pacing. Even though he has super impressive rewards that carry through, there's never an overwhelming sense of OP-ness that takes away enjoyment of the story. Of course, many situations have their own problem here and there, but my comments are true of the novel as a whole. The situations are honestly so inventive that I really give my props to the author; in particular I reeeally loved the first arc (72H).

Characters: 4.5/5

Compared to other world-hopping stories I've read so far, this one has less of a "fell in love immediately because I know you're the one" which is a really good thing. It's still pretty fast, but we do see the process more than from other stories. Usually the initial effect is just attraction; however, we see MLs actually falling in love with MC through their interactions and MC's personality (although honestly I sometimes feel it's fake, like in the first story he didn't say anything and looked so heroic cause he actually couldn't lmao).

My biggest issue with the characters is probably that the MC is so bound to the system and the tasks he needs to do that we don't actually know a lot about his personality? Like if he didn't have to die, would he still? etc. It doesn't really affect the enjoyment of the story, but it's something a little unfortunate.

But DAMN I feel bad for the ML... although he probably deserves it, he's probably the reason MC was bound. I seeeriously can't wait to read the real world story haha. It's funny to think this whole thing started because of a pretty small incident...

Also I really wish they were reversible... I feel like world-hopping stories in particular have so much opportunity for a reversible couple but nope (unless they are but we just lack so many descriptions we can't tell) ??? Btw no descriptions of anything, it's shounen ai

Writing & Translation: 5/5

Smooth writing and good editing, no complaints. Thanks translator!

Overall, a good read, recommended in this genre!! <<less

just done reading it in mtl. Uwu I really really like this one. Like QWTFOTD it's a system bind to MC. He need to travel world to world and die in a heroic but tragic way. At first you we're really going to be frustated for the ML but

Don't worry the system will give MC a chance to go back to every world and rewrite/change the ending of each world

This story is full of heartache/fluffiness/sweetness and warmth.

They think I'm crazy 😏 coz I'm laughing then the next second I'm crying. Sometimes I even cry while laughing. Crazy me. It's really a pity... This novel was my TRUE LOVE, it makes me cry a river of tears many times. But I can only read A1 to A7 C74 and the beginning chapters of A8 to c85. I don't have any complains to the main character, MC ha been through a lot 😂😂. And a very possessive ML like FOD. TRy this and you'll love it. I really... more>> reccommend it if you love interdimensional travel. <<less

If you are an M, then this novel is probably for you. Bitter sweet but at the same time full of fluff that makes you want to fall in love over and over again. What’s more, the thing about this novel, is that it can definitely satisfy all your craving for various genres. I just love that each world the MC reincarnates gives you a unique feeling which makes it quite refreshing. But what disappointed me was that the end of the novel despite it being a happy ending, was... more>> still kinda bit lacking. <<less

After reading FoD (Quickly wear the Face of the Devil) I really wanted to read a novel with a similar story line.

I wasn't so sure about the first few arcs. The main- and side characters were too lacking when it came to their personalities. There wasn't too much of a development or insight which made them too flat and shallow for my taste.

... more>> However, after a while I quiet enjoyed it. The different arcs got more exciting and so did the characters..

I still cannot say that it is currently one of the best BL novels I'm reading. It's decent. Had a weak start and improved during the journey. That's why I'll „only" give it a 3.5/5 for now. <<less

Pretty much ignore most of what Mikleo (in the review section) said, the only things that were accurate in his review were - The ML being bland, at least compared to the MC, and the worlds being a bit too fast paced.

Other than that, it shares many similarities with QWFOD, I honestly have no idea what hes talking about by saying theres no scenes or characterization. Do I think it is as good as QWFOD? No, at least not so far, however it has many unique worlds, and while not... more>> all of them are good (there were also a few in QWFOD that were bad) many of them are quite interesting. The main complaint I have, is that there are a few inconsistencies in the plot, not sure if that's a translation thing or if it was like that in the original.

It is at the very least worth giving a shot to. <<less

Um, this is the type of story that made me cry so much! I can't wait for the ending, I hope it's happy or I will be heartbroken.

The main character is the pure white lotus type. I can hardly believe how nice he is! The male lead is very different each time.

Not bad. I will rate when it ends. Right now it'it's too tragic.

This novel is actually not that good. To those who kept comparing this one to QWFOD, just don't. The only similarities is that it's a Quick Trans BL.

The scenes aren't built well. It felt like I was scanning - not reading - a story because of the lack of scenes, characterization, and whatever. The lack of descriptions was a let down as compared to the one most people are comparing it to - QWFOD. I myself don't want to compare, but when majority in this review section kept liking it... more>> to QWFOD... I'll rather douse them in ice-cold water.

The story itself isn't good, I'll give it a tentative 2.5 due to it having unique concepts, but score was dragged down due to the severely fast pace novel. Out of all the worlds currently translated, the first two are the 'ok' ones, at most.

I like the MC, but the ML is very meh.

Sincerely wish the ML was well characterized, but no... <<less

This novel is sooo good. Definitely a great follow up to QWTFOTD. I don't know if I'm like a sad*st or something but I kind of like to see the ML be devastated over the mc's temporary deaths (I hate tragedies so that's why I said temporary b/c they're technically not dead at the end in the novel). I thought the arcs were really good and the MC and ML were really sweet. It only took like a couple of arcs for MC to reciprocate his feelings so the romance... more>> isn't slow at all. It's definitely an easy read I would say. No frustrating and pulling my hair moments.

I hate ambiguous endings. I seriously hope they have a sequel or something. Or someone please write a fanfic I really don't like being left hanging.

okay EDIT; I think I read the wrong ending because I just read the translated ending and it's not that open ended. I probably read at the wrong site that didn't have the last chapter or something. So my only 'criticism' of the novel is gone. Haha.

I've only read the first four arcs, therefore it's too early for me to give a rating. Thus far this story is very fun and I like the MC very much. The CP looks very promising.

right now I would give this at tentative 4 rating but I will wait until the Re: chapters before officially rating it. Overall its a good story.

It's another transmigration story involving yaoi, with very similar issues I have with QWOD and other of these multi transmigration stories.

Translation wise the grammar is better written, but plot is relatively generic. MC transmigration, ML mysteriously also transmigrates with no memories for some reason. Lots of antagonists that are practically made to be faceslapped.

It's not necessarily bad, but there's not much change from the rest of those transmigration stories.
