Thus, Shang Ke started a never-ending cycle of constantly throwing away his miserable life.
He would always show himself as a martyr while letting others cry over his death.
It was because of a woman’s curse that Shang Ke was hit by a car and turned into a human vegetable. This led to him becoming bound by an unlucky system in which he was cursed to die. The most unfortunate part was that he never cheated on anyone’s feelings. The reason for why he was cursed by a woman was because of a guy named Qi Chen. Qi Chen was a ladies man, and he would always use Shang Ke as an excuse to break up with any woman that he was with. As a result, Shang Ke was always blamed for the breakups. Since then, the main character could only be forced to cross into different worlds. He would thus experience for himself, the hero’s “thrill”.

If you do not like main characters with these certain traits:
-oppressive, both to strangers and domestically in another way other than radiating iciness
- satyromaniac s*x offender
-values his own interests the most
-controlling, would distance you from society if that means to get more time on hand with you
-unhealthy levels of jealousy
... you might want to stay FAR FAR away.
(Some of these traits are an on and off thing, consistently ones are >satyromaniac rapist, >jealousy and >control freak.) The reviews of this novel is definitely overrated, undermining the toxicity in a domestically abusive relationship. Although of consent and acceptance, MC would mostly identify ML by his oppressive, tyrannical and scummy aura.
Even with the mind set of reading it just for fun, the ML managed to touch my bottom line repetitively in each and every arc without rest.
He treats MC like an object, a most convenient must-have household appliance that serves well for housekeeping and bed warming. ML dotes on MC more like an owner dotes a pet than offering mutual respect one would to their equal and significant other. He hates that MC can be independent, he wants him to fully rely on him, is disgruntled by his competence and smarts. He LOATHES seeing MC with ANYBODY, nobody but himself is allowed to be near, has no trust and faith in MC and would drive off others before MC can do it himself (and I mean that in a bad way, treating him like his belonging every time declaring his "ownership" over MC).
The smut can't be completely called smut, it's written repetitively in "oh they do a long long time, lots of poses, all over the house and hey forced sudden entry every time, yay!" Rofl, if you're so hard into an*l fissures and all that skin trauma, go ahead.
Also, holy crap, wtf is wrong with this author leaving children characters in ML's care? Always ending up being neglected or treated with "harsh love" or dump them off somewhere else by this f**ker.
Hi, let's have s*x while our kid's sleeping right next to us. Also oops, accidentally neglected multiple lolis and biological kids into deadly depression? Doesn't matter either way when ML lost MC, nothing f*cking matters, yes, not even his kids.
By dry unprepared penetration isn't what I meant with r*pe.
Beside occasionally often finding ML penetrating him in his sleep, at some early instances at their encounters where MC was unsure of his identity and had rigorously and fervently rejected him but got pushed down and fully "loved" through anyway. You want to tell me he isn't a criminal when he self declares he's here to r*pe him? Yikes, some reviewers got issues.
The zombie arc was DARK: snuff, guro, gore galore.
I could elaborate on multiple instances of how much of a tr*sh person he is, but just thinking back disgusts me. And if you know my reviews, you know I don't mind go into a lengthy drawn out analysis on sh*t characters. But heck, to each their own, go ahead and experience the same type of treatment and tell me again if it's cute or not.
You can say that the author tunnel-visions too hardly on the couple and each arc have a lot of loose ends.
It certainly lacks the similarity to "Quickly Wear the Face of the Devil" unlike many suggest. No depth, twists, highlights. It's a monotone blind dry obsession of two idiots.
MC arguably has no character, the things he does are for the missions or ease the missions and that's all the focus is on. I do wish I got to see more inner monologue of both mains.
Once MC dies off, ML full turns destructive towards everything and everyone. All of MC's effort will turn up for naught. Each and every arc ends up with the death of MC and you don't get follow-ups unless MC can revisit the worlds. Greatest tragedy is that MC has never been loved properly and normally by ML.
This novel is such a guilty pleasure and it is quite a fun and easy read if you enjoy the Transmigration genre! Strengths
Let's start with what's great: each arc is quite self-contained - with fun settings (e.g. fantasy /cultivator / apocalyptic) and it's really easy to whiz through each story. The MC is caring, funny, earnest, hardworking and very lovable. I really adore the MC! And really feel for the MC (as the title suggests, the arcs can get quite tragic and devastatingly so). I enjoy how emotionally intense the arcs get and I'm a sucker for tragedy and painful moments so this is good. The RE arcs are the best (
i.e. RE arcs are where MC returns to the previous worlds
However, the ML by contrast is genuinely a terrible person with a super stunted EQ who does not treat the MC well overall. IMO, the ML is only kind and tolerable in a few certain arcs (e.g. first four arcs, arc 7 etc) so if that's a concern for you, read only the first few arcs to get a gauge of how 'good' the MC can be on their best behaviour. Believe me, ML's behaviour goes downhill as the novel progresses. Simply put, the ML does not deserve the MC in general with the exception of a few arcs.
ML frequently r*pes the MC in many of the arcs- granted, it's dubcon most of the time as the MC wants it but may be acting otherwise... but the ML doesn't know that the MC is acting. It gets particularly terrible in the 'Evil Pen' arc where the ML literally kidnaps, stalks, falsely imprisons and essentially r*pes the MC with the MC outwardly resisting and trembling.
Guilty pleasure - still fun to read with interesting worlds and good dose of drama/tragedy, but do not expect too much depth and especially avoid if you want genuinely loving and caring MLs!
