So far, the story itself is averagely good. Basically the entire premise is a little girl (demon race) found out that human food is tasty and demon food is disgusting. She wants to peacefully eat food but humans being humanely evil as usual gets in the way. So the MC is summoned to 'peacefully' deal with the villains via schemes instead of violence (while getting a harem). (Also, heroes are the semi zombie immortal types that won't die/keeps reviving unless you 'thoroughly' exterminate them)

The translation on the other hand... more>> isn't good. One part even had someone ask the difference between "a human and a human" when it should be "a human and a demon". Sadly, the description at the top is enough to turn most people away. <<less

This novel gave me complicated feelings.

Spoiler

The MC basically planned to defeat the female hero in v1 by making her fall in love with him / like him. They've been getting quite intimate and stuff. Long story short, all of this build up was gone in v2. The MC kind of treated all of that like nothing ever happened. The female hero still loved him though. All the the author at least could've done was continuing their relationship in v2, but nope, nothing happened. I guess we all know in the last volume their relationship would finally develop, but still, it's irritating

[collapse]

In the end, the author purposefully made some super tasty dessert, put em in on front of my face to make me drool just to slap my face really hard, and pulled back the dessert then told me it's for last.

I hated it. <<less

I read the officially translated volumes, so the translation is decent.

The first volume is somewhat clunky and meandering, but it works overall. Mild variations on well known tropes, executed passably.

The second volume is just tedious and unpleasant to read. Filled with bizarre Japanese cultural influences. At some point the ML starts an idol group, for the absurd reason of finding friends for the little girl (What ? Why not just let her meet some children her age like a normal person ? Also, fans are not friends) . The... more>> completely new idol concept instantly becomes very popular including a group of creepy pe*ophiles fans that are milked for money. Why is this played for laughs ? You have a problem Japan.

The main villainess is poorly developed and the way the problem is resolved is ridiculous.
Spoiler

Then the villainess does a 180 in 5 minutes and is accepted by all. I'm sorry, it is not normal to accept someone who just a few days ago was about to impale your face with a hot poker multiple times, heal you and repeat until your mind is broken. All this to supposedly the cutest 10 year old girl. A Jesus like saint might love such a person, but you don't condone or ignore the behavior. The fact the mu*derous psychopath has turned herself into an obsessive pe*ophile isn't much of an improvement orin any way redemptive.

The rest of the villains are to gain redemption by being anally r*ped by a demon, I'm not exaggerating, this is a plot point. I think it was supposed to be funny. I'm not pearl clutching, it is just a s*upid and inappropriate twist to an otherwise abhorrently cutesy end.

This book should have been a heist parody where they try to steal the large rock, would have been much better.

I can't see myself continuing the series. <<less

Until now (v1c6) the novel is ok and I can't wait to read the next chapter. The translation is verry good and makes things easy to understand. Just 4 out of 5 stars since I want see in what direction the novel will go in the future.

This tale is a take on the perspective of a Demon king in an RPG game. How horrifying would fighting against one unkillable hero or even thousands of them be?

However, that isn't the core of the story, after around volume 2 the story dives into world-building and leaves this troupe behind. Instead, it takes on a different mission with an end sight in mind. This story may be for you if you like reading overpowered MC and also the tribulations he may face. While it may not be for you... more>> if you get annoyed by jargon text easily.

Near the ending, it feels rushed but there is an afterword to wrap up most plot points in volume 6. Overall I would rate the story around 4.3/5. <<less

Knowledge is strenght. Spesially when you are up against immortal. There was logical reason behind the immortality. Name for the series "The Dirty Way to Destroy the Goddess's Heroes" was great. At beginning I thought that our "hero" would defeat heroes and it did happen, but true meaning for the title came up end of volume 5. Key word was dirty. Series had interesting take on what dragons are during volume 6. Swampman, elf and demon reveals were great twists. There was only one thing left unsaid. Was Shinichi a... more>> human by biological stand point? If anything I wrote sounded interesting then go ahead and start reading. Volumes 2 and 3 were the weakest but not bad by lightest. Volume 2 Idol arc and volume 3 hero army arc were big highlights for the series. <<less

If you want to read this, I recommend the official novel release as the fan translation isn't up to par.

It is a very lighthearted take on the dungeon defense trope, compared to the usual edgyness that is usual for this type of story. I honestly find it enjoyable.

Due to the more comedic and less serious story, it can get away with making ridiculous ways for the MC to defend against heroes that attack the demon castle. Things like making the heroes sh*t themselves in front of their crush or making... more>> a demon idol so that the citizens of a town will rebel against the church. It is played more for shits and giggles rather than the usual genius protagonist powertrip that is commonplace in dungeon defense stories.

As a side note, sometimes authors' personalities/opinions/culture really show on their work specially on eastern web/light novels. Most of the time it turns me off a book, which usually happens the most with chinese authors. I really enjoy this one's author though and the personality that his writing gives off. <<less

I really liked the first few volumes. The MC appeared fairly warped and willing to do whatever it takes to fulfill his goals. It made me laugh quite a few times. So, why the low score?

Well, first of all, the title and description is incredibly misleading. It only applies to volume 1 of 6. After volume 1, it's very clear that the author de-railed from the initial concept after dealing with just ONE team of heroes in a pretty funny and slightly evil way. Seriously disappointing. It doesn't help that... more>> instead of becoming more prone to kill or take harsh and funny actions against these c*ckroach heroes, which should've been the initial idea (especially since they're close to immortal and can come back for more fun after dying in horrible ways), he ends up becoming kinder and more averse to actual violence, torture and so on, much because of the "hero" and "demon king's daughter" that are both way, way too kind. So, he ends up as a typical beta MC in disguise, pretending to be evil but it's more of a running inside joke and he's actually very far from it. The heroes stop being a plot point too, as after the first team of heroes and the second hero, the follow-up heroes that are central to the plot are actually just priests, saints and cardinals, follow by the "goddess" herself and finally we stop the whole high fantasy shtick and it turns out (and this is a huge spoiler to the plot, but I don't find it to be anything special or worth waiting for, read at your own risk)
Spoiler

the whole background story to everything was just a woman with a grudge from an advanced civilization which was wiped out by a meteor who became the goddess to kill all non-humans, oh, and every single humanoid is actually just a human that was transformed by the surrounding magic, even elves are just biologically modified humans as a status kinda thing for magically gifted people. The dragons are just the planet's antibody system. Very boring development. The heroes immortality just means they're re-created with a mix of magic, technology and copy-pasting memories into a blank brain by said crazy goddess

[collapse]
.

The romance is a bit cringeworthy, there is little actual development even if the author wants to pretend there is. I'm also fed up with how most important people have traumas/sob stories to make us like them more, which for me has the opposite effect since I feel it's forced and unrelatable. Too much text is robbed on exposition of different characters background stories even if they hardly matter.

Volume 6 is just a cringeworthy afterstory kind of thing where the romance is finalized and the author tries to patch things up. Volume 4-5 is pretty sh*t as that's where the author decided it was time to end the goddess, which really was all to abrupt and anticlimactic in the end, as if all pieces just fell together by sheer luck and everything just happened with little to no preparation, he kind of left out most of the last part.

Oh, and not a single person dies in this novel except for 2 main villains and even then very reluctantly. It's pretty annoying to see them trying to turn them back around to the "good side" even if the author wants to pretend there are good reasons for it.

For a story that dresses itself up as some kind of "this MC is a bastard and isn't bound by morals and will hilariously end various s*upid heroes", the MC is a huge softie and those around him would never let him act otherwise. The title and description is a lie, that alone knocks one star off. Another star because the ending s**ked, the last battle s**ked and pretty much everything after 3 volumes was so-so at best. It feels like too much potential was lost. It also sucks that magic is never really explored past a one chapter thing where the MC instantly gets stronger, he never develops any real spells after that, never gets stronger and honestly we never even get to know exactly how strong he got after the cheat training, we only know he's more powerful than an average magician but not that powerful. Sad.

Still, I read all of it and while I got a bit fed up the last 2-3 volumes, it's certainly good enough to be worth reading. The current score is pretty accurate in relation to other novels. I'd say by a proper standard, 2.5/5 would be the score, for average, good enough to read. Novelupdates score as of this moment is 3.9/5, which is pretty much saying the same thing. Average, but readable. So I think it reflects this novel quite well. There are a lot of way, way worse novels out there. I recommend this novel as a way to pass some time and to get a few laughs, but expect that the actual story is very different from what the title and description conveys. The title/description ONLY applies to volume 1 before the story turns into a whole other thing, which sucks by comparison but is still readable. <<less
