Heavenly Jewel Change

Description

Every human has their Personal Jewel of power, when awakened it can either be an Elemental Jewel or Physical Jewel. They circle the right and left wrists like bracelets of power.

Heavenly Jewels are like the twins born, meaning when both Elemental and Physical Jewels are Awakened for the same person, the pair is known as Heavenly Jewels.

Those who have the Physical Jewels are known as Physical Jewel Masters, those with Elemental Jewels are Elemental Jewel Masters, and those who train with Heavenly Jewels are naturally called Heavenly Jewel Masters.

Heavenly Jewel Masters have a highest level of 12 pairs of jewels, as such their training progress is known as Heavenly Jewels 12 Changes.

Our MC here is an archer who has such a pair of Heavenly Jewels.

I'm giving it 5 Stars. I don't give a sh*t what others may say about this.
My reason is simple; The MC's attitude/character himself.

For those who've been reading Xianxia that mostly have an immortal as an MC. Try this one for a fresh new perspective. I highly recommend.

If you've been reading random novels, you'd usually get an MC that's either serious or witty. This Novel's MC is funny, messed up funny. And for me, it's a fresh one.

The character is OBVIOUSLY OP but the author placed a REASONABLE restrictions, giving... more>> the story a good flow. Unlike others that make them seem weak as sh*t then BOOM! Nor like hellishly serious then when you pissed them off they go explosively dangerous.

Another reason for the five would be the story itself. Having a simple yet interesting setup in the mortal world, introducing other master characters and then actually using them for the story (not leaving them out). I basically got sick of other xianxia leaving their roots, I find it sad. <<less

4/5 Recommended Read.

You know those stories where the MC starts as a crippled yet wealthy/aristocratic douche-child happily living a decadent lifestyle only to have some sort of modern day/otherworldy derp forcefully possess him, receives some magical sky jewel (err... space jewel) from the heavens that grants him superpowers/cures his illness, & relive his life in a heroic yet r*pey way? Welcome to Against the Gods, I mean Heavenly Jewel change.

This is one of those stories.... except the douche-child doesn't get possessed & his increase in strength is directly related... more>> to how much he harasses/rapes women which actually makes a lot of his heroic yet r*pey ways make more sense than other novels.

His greatest strength is undoubtedly his weaponized puns (if you ignore his magical space rock, OP cultivation tech, and hell-training). Truly a most fearsome ability.

Spoiler

There are several slip ups such as his teammates somehow being aware of his darkness powers before it was revealed, or little witch joining their battle team. Which doesn't make sense as she was already in another team... what kind of tournament allows for even opponents to swap into each other's team? Their team didn't even have much to gain from it since they already entered the top 4 and could've just surrendered. Also almost immediately after they accept her, the MC swapped his cult tech for a ton of stuff & unlimited access anyways... so basically he risked his team just for a bit of gold since Zong armor sets (for his teammates) & materials could be easily gotten as he can come and go as he'd like.

Also don't be surprised when the MC s*upidly explains his trump cards out loud to his enemies immediately after he uses them. He became s*upid when he started showing off his abilities, especially in the tournament setting.

One of my favorites (just annoyed the translations don't come out as often as some of my other favs).

-Good fight scenes
-Not overly ambitious with the cultivating speed
-Awesome MC - good mix between hero, coward, smart, cunning, hilarious, perv
-Perv MC but it doesn't take away from his focus on getting stronger
-No slice of life waste of "got up made breakfast" scenes, every chapter has a purpose.
-Good plot
-Very imaginative story

This is definitely worth reading. It' has a lot of xianxia elements but it just doesn't fit... more>> the everyday xianxia mold, it stands out from the rest in my opinion.

Review as of C48-2.

A series with a likable MC. Flirtatious with the ladies, shameless to take advantage of situations, cool-headed when needed, and of course; gets lucky when things get dangerous. He has a goal, he has fears, he has desires. This isn't a MC who wants "to find the way" and ascend to become some sort of supreme being that transcends humanity. If it was, it wouldn't be any different than any other xianxia series.

What you have is a MC who is highly adaptable and isn't afraid to resort... more>> to cheap tricks and using his tongue to get the most of a situation. It kind of reminds me of Stephen Chow's ne'er-do-well film characters (there is even a kungfu move lifted from one of his nonsensical movies).

The writing is fine, similar to the author's other works. The pace is good, the translation is top-notch. Is it all cliched? Perhaps. Is it similar to other series? Yes. Does it make it boring? Not really, because the MC is different from the usual cultivation-maniac protagonists. As for the "rape" tags, it's a staple cliche in Chinese kungfu novels: the character suffers a blowback from his cultivation and in his berserk state laid his hands on the nearest woman who ends up being the main heroine that eventually returns a mutual love. Thus, the MC is given the excuse of "he didn't know what he was doing but he will take responsibility as a real man". Whether this offensive is up to the reader. All I would say is that the way it is written it can be plausible, and it has been used many times in other novels including the masterpieces of Jin Yong/Louis Cha who had been writing since the 1960s. <<less

there are some things in this story which I like which includes the humor and the teasing (romance) and some things which are a bit awkward such as the method of narration. when I read it I feel like I am reading a narration by a crafty and cunning old scoundrel who has taken interest in a child who shares the same mentality. these things cancel each other out and I would find this novel slightly above average and a worthwhile read.

But...

there is one thing which changes everything. that thing... more>> is parents who are not even qualified to face their daughters testing our protagonist. when this happened for the first time I was disappointed. the second time I some how managed to not drop the novel by consoling myself that the MC has a harem so different parents different trials. but when it happened for the third I came to vent myself by writing this review.

Spoiler

1. when ZW brought binger back to her father, he should have been grateful to him. while he should have stayed with her if he was too eager to meet her. wait for the tournament to finish and welcome ZW and Binger to discuss the future if thought normally. but what did he do? take her away just like that where there is no one she knows and also seperate her from her husband (ZW). plus binger knows nothing about him she just knows that he abondoned her mother and on their meeting insult her husband. now the best part is that our protagonist has to prove to such a person that he is worthy of his daughter?is he worthy of such honor? no

problem is that this will reveal his strength to the world and will he support him after that? no

2. When tianer decided to marry gu yingbing for saving ZW. her father saw that she was dejected although he did not know that she was planning to commit su*cide he still forced her to marry. was that decision benificial to him politically? not at all. was it good for his tribe? no rather gu site said that if tianer's father did not exist he would wiped out the tiger tribe. was his only daughter happy? no. how is a person who is a failure at all his occupations (king, tribe leader, father) be worthy of his testing the protagonist.

3. Shangguan Tianyue (binger's father) has already judged MC's character, wisdom, strength etc. but when the MC is fighting a war and wants to win in the tournament to spread his reputation he wants to test him again by winning against a extra powerful team from his own empire. this also shaves away his strength (dou dou, xuer, fei'er, binger) in the tournament. the question is why? what does he gain. he does not send troops to support him in the war why? because testing his son in law. he forms a overpowered team to fight in the tournament why? becuase testing his son in law. because of this as*hole the MC has to fight in a disadvantageous position while the threat of war was looming in his homeland. if this ba*tard did not have s*it for brains half of MC's problems would not exist.

I’ve got to say, I’m extremely disappointed. If I had one word to describe this novel, it’d have to be mediocre. A less than stellar MC, countless plot holes, forced harem, and fluctuating translations. Things were moving at a relatively well pace for the former part of the story (until approximately 500 ch.) , but later on the inadequacies continually piled on. Had to force myself to finish the story, which lucky wasn’t too long.

The two things I hated most was how the MC left enemies for himself and... more>> the way in which his pe*verted shameless ways were portrayed.

Referring to the first thing, there were countless people that plotted against him or tried to take his life, but how many of them did he really kill? He just brushed it off after initially being mad about it and then still manage to converse with them like they didn’t try to take his life.

Now his pe*vertedness, absolutely terrible. Nothing wrong with being shameless and skirt chasing, but half of his the girls he got into his harem, he was forceful with them before they magically fell in love with him. The Shangguan sisters besides Bing’er (who was r*ped by him) seemed so forced into the harem with how he mistook their identity and kissed them. For him to not recognize the girl he claims to love the most, I call bs. Furthermore there’s the Little Witch who ends up r*ped as well, who then she falls in love with him. Now while not all of them got together in such a way, there’s a pattern. Not even going to speak on the final two because their presence is negligible until the end. The only genuine love interest was Tian’er, she was also the most compatible with him and was by his side the longest.

I find it hard to believe that the same author who managed to write such a great piece of work and character like Tang San in Soul Land wrote this story. <<less

This novel has the worst start of any web novel I have ever read. Thinking back, I'm not sure how I continued to read it. You really can't judge it based on its start as the MC goes through a very swift and jarring change of character very quickly in the story. Unfortunately, before that intense change in character happens, the MC r*pes a girl and feels no remorse or guilt about, even saving the bloody bed sheets as some kind of sick, f*cked up memento. Granted, when the incident... more>> occurs, the MC has no control over himself. But still, his lack of guilt or remorse makes it feel like he is fully capable of doing sh*t like that any time.

I think the author realized how messed up the MC he was writing was, and how no one would be able to sympathize or want to read about a someone that f*cked in the head, so the MC's character goes through a swift change. After the change the novel becomes a pretty standard cultivation novel with a harem. The harem, is very poorly done, with him confessing his eternal love to girls he has met for literal milliseconds. I think the only reason you should read this is if you want to read ecchi material, but you want some kind of rough story to go along with it so your not straight up reading p*rn. Honestly, that's why I read it too. So... yah. <<less

Is this really a good novel? I mean the plot is good but the words are not too excellent to match the way they move, it's too awkward and the way the MC reveals he's secrets just bevause they are close are too idiotic I mean I understand that hes young just 13-15 years old but isnt there a saying "the less people know the better?" And beside that just because they are nice to you doesnt mean you have to say your secrets it's just to idiotic.

I rate this... more>> 2 stars because of this, tbe peronality of the MC and the side characters are not too serious I thought he's jewels are rare why does he have to say it tho to hes relatives and friends, besides that, I have this kind of feeling that The boundless continent and the outlanders have so many people how could there be very little experts? I think the people are just lazy look at the MC I think there would be many people like him with great luck or much more greater luck than him who will surpass him right? But look at the novel there aren't except for 1 enemy.

So that's that I think the HEAVENLY JEWEL WORLD poeple are just lazy that's why there's no experts.

THIS NOVEL IS JUST FOR KIDS I DON'T KNOW WHY THIS HAVE A VERY HIGH RATING BUT I THINK IT'S FAKE. <<less

Ok chapter 23 I stop here, it's just too much...

There will be spoiler (but just about the first 10-20 chapters, so feel free to read)

Well, I 'll start with the good point : the cultivation of this novel is original and very attractive (except for the mc)

Humm..

Let's pass to the bad points now:

  • first the women : I don't have a problem with r*pe in litterature but it's not a simple r*pe, it's a r*pe love. He r*pe the waifu, and then she become slowly (10 chapters) in love with the MC. Well there is some "explanation". The MC didn't remember anything, he is an important asset for the country etc but still it's very weird to read if you are not fan of r*pe/ harass**ent/ s*upid waifu
  • Charactere : well MC is just too OP, he basically have no limit, auto cultivation etc.. why not in a comedy novel.... and other than MC women are here for the harem (or just love) and men just to be cannon fodder
  • background : I love the cultivation technique in this novel (just to see more I will probably try to go further in this novel) but the background is without interest (in the first 23 chapter at least). Basically the MC is the best hope of his country and with his statut he have the possibility to be train and protect in the more efficient way. But no he choose to go in the army in secret where he can easily be killed (his cultivation isn't high enough at this moment) and he constantly put his life (and his waifu life) on the line for no reason; for example to avenge his fellows soldiers he decide to go in the army camp with his waifu alone to kill maybe 50-100 soldiers (almost nothing for an army). I'll stop the little spoil here^^. To simplify, it's very immature, people make s*upid choice in the sole end for MC to show off, and the women to fall in love.
  • comedy: it's just s*xual harass**ent joke during 23 chapters... in every chapter... just that... no comedy.. (probably the worst point for me)
  • last point : author make the MC 13 year old, probably to make him grow. It's a very good point. But in the same time he want him to be sexually active (for the harem) so he gave him a 1m70-1m80 burdy body. It's very weird to imagine. especially since just MC seems to be that way...
Well there is probably more to say about it, but as I said I'm just in the first 20 chapters. Maybe it's becoming better, maybe not, I will never know because I don't want to waste my time on this immature novel.

Thanks you for reading me and sorry for the ones who love this novel, it's just my opinion^^

Here to answer One Simple Question: Is it Shit?

Yes, it's a tragic mess.

4.1? HOW?

... more>> The MC is unlikable - first I gave him a benefit of a doubt I thought "ok, he's a goofy kid lets see what happens next", but he's like an old pe*vert trapped in childs body... I question the authors sanity.
Romance- stoop, its cringe which leads to

Comedy - I tend to enjoy s*xual comedy, but here the author thinks borderline s*xual harassment funny.
It was Funny/Cringe the first 1-2 times, Ok? We had a chuckle, it's time Stop mr Author

"yuh but MC gets slapped on the penis" - yeah it stopped being funny 10 chapters ago

Main heroine (so far) - shes an idiot. You can forgive MC for being a total immature-duche, because he's "special" in that odd old-man pe*verted way. Based on that fact you expect people to dislike him...
However she deeply strives to justify the MC for the terrible act he did. It's insane, it's not a display of "good heart" as the author tries to paint it. It's a display of insanity.

So my final verdict, the author and the story so far are Insane in every possible way. The translation quality is also so-so. <<less

Well this will be my first time reviewing a novel.

To start I have read ISSTH, Warlock of the magus, World of Cultivation and currently LMS, RTW, Avalon of Five Elements, History's Strongest Founder and DE. And also HJC which is now the first novel I dropped.

At first HJC started fine, with a nice pace and introduction of the MC/setting. But as it went on, then came the development of the harem which was ok at first but up until the point that I read it just turned for the worst.... more>> The women of interest all have background/development (cultivation) that adds substance to their character. But the problem is how the author writes the development of the harem. It's just as ridiculous and absurd like the gold digger pranks. The women's perception about the MC easily change even though he's a known pe*vert and what not, making the romance forced and shallow.

Next bad thing is the MC is a very super privileged one. There's no plot armor since why would he need one. Everyone is just awed and 'can't make an enemy out of him cause of his future prospects'. This also makes the 'world' feel small though there are many empire (large and small) and sects. Everything is gravitated towards the MC thus you get no feeling of danger/challenge from his surroundings. He just has everything topnotch: women, weapons, teacher, etc. The could have been 'plot-mover' is just too damn shallow for the MC for me.

Well most of the stories end up in a good ending, but at times it's about the process/travels/adventure/hardships/development but HJC is devoid of that. Halfway through, I can already assume the ending without reading upto the last chapter since most of the story is just about his exploits of women. The story just gave me the lack of curiosity and motivation to read it in its entirety. The cultivation approach is unique and could have been the spotlight of the story yet the overall structure made it less interesting.

Though, I liked how the author wrote lots of idioms to better explain/portray the situations which I liked so with the comedy on the first part. Other than that, this is just madly disappointing, the story could have been one of the best if it had a certain balance and restructure to it.

Recommendation: Read if you're curious, but for me not totally worth it to waste time and effort. I like some harem but not the absurd ones like this. World-building, there are certainly much better novels out there like RTW, WoC, Avalon of 5 Elements to name some as what I base my review from. <<less

I still remember this one. I stopped reading after learning that the translations would be halted.

But now I can see that it is on move again. WHICH IS NICE!

The system he has is a tad boring, The MC himself is funny and silly, I felt thrilled whenever MC became determined.

... more>> Romance is a bit over the top. With MC capturing the hearts of the most prominent ladies on the land.

Overall, MC is OP, considering his encounter difficulty and lucky chances. Easy tasks yields big results.
But if you get past that and just ignore how OP he is. Everything else is enjoyable. <<less

Things to like about the novel:

  • Not the usual go hide and train kind of MC.
  • Lots of details and lore of the setting.
  • Harem, if you're into that despite the absurd amount of girls in the mc's harem.

Things not to like about the novel:

  • Random ass r*pe outta nowhere, courtesy by MC.
    Spoiler

Apparently after former tr*sh MC who cant cultivate trains in a cultivation method that allows him to awaken his potential, he loses control of his body while being muddle headed and in a "lustful" state. The kind and caring squad leader being a girl with peerless beauty recognizes the immense energy from far away, and attempts to support mc's awakening only to realize the mc's awakening was actually akin to that of an evil cultivator's. (For some reason people who awaken these evil attributes cannot control themselves and will either r*pe, kill or do some other horrible thing to people close to them without them knowing until the act is done... For some reason huh.)

  • Harem, if you dislike such things for obvious reasons.
  • Some loopholes here and there in which if you're very sensitive to these kinds of stuff then theres quite a bunch of them, even at the very few chapters.

Absolutely infuriating writing... The story itself is okay, which has lead to the 2 stars, but the writing itself is aggravating. TJSS absolutely thoroughly milks every chapter with a load of useless information to make up for his word count. This has lead to a dreadful disrupt in the story, especially during the process of fights. Generally a single action will happen in a fight and it will lead to 7 paragraphs of irrelevant information after the action, explaining where the skill came from and how it compared to the... more>> past etc... You only need a single paragraph to explain all of that. That's where TJSS has messed up for me.

I've almost caught up to the current chapters, and it is aggravating to read it. I really want to read it, as I love wanting to find out what happens next, or experiencing the change of the MC during a fight, such as; his temperament changing, aura, or appearance. But one can't enjoy that when the fights are disrupted with needless exposition.

Thus, I'll give this a 2/5. 2 for story. That's it. <<less

Average Xuanhuan novel with the basic premise of alot of plot holes. It's enjoyable to a certain degree and the reviews don't give credit where credit is due. Maybe it's because I've read too many of these types of novels that this one seems to be on the better side of things when it come to it. I tried with this story. I really tried. I like the idea of the jewels, the cultivation levels, and the MC being an archer main. That latter is very rare. But... the story is just bad. Despite great ideas, the actual story is dumb.

I got something like 30% of the way through this story, and basically nothing happened. The MC goes from one training location to another and spends most of his time perving on women. Worse yet, he absolutely, positively can't fail at anything. He has two super-mcguffin powers... more>> that make him far, FAR superior to anyone at his own level, but even when he fights someone far beyond him he is always saved by plot armor. Not once in 150+ chapters did he ever face any credible danger or trouble. He's an arrogant jackass who will never face any consequences for his actions, and his actions in general are pretty boring.

The worldbuilding on this is 2.5/5 or so, with most of that credit going to the idea of the jewels. If we'd seen other cultivation methods beyond the MC's super-awesome one, I'd raise this, but all we see is how his is clearly better than anyone else's without knowing how anyone else's actually works.

The "romances" are 1/5. The female characters are all awful, one-dimensional beauties.

The character building is 1.5/5. In all that I read, the MC did develop a LITTLE. But I pretty much hated him throughout, and at his rate of development he'd still be an as*hole even by the end of the story.

The plot... barely exists? There's a war, but it doesn't matter to the story. It's just backdrop/motivation. This is a training-fic that just keeps beating readers over the head with how superior the MC is to everyone else while actually showing an as*hole who needs to be saved all the time from the consequences of his own ego. What I read can be summed up as "MC joins army, pervs on girl, joins non-military bow unit and trains there, joins military school and trains there while perving on girls..." and that's all. For hundreds of thousands of words.

I can't give this more than 1 star out of 5 overall. It's just not worth wasting time on. <<less
