Every human has their Personal Jewel of power, when awakened it can either be an Elemental Jewel or Physical Jewel. They circle the right and left wrists like bracelets of power.

Heavenly Jewels are like the twins born, meaning when both Elemental and Physical Jewels are Awakened for the same person, the pair is known as Heavenly Jewels.

Those who have the Physical Jewels are known as Physical Jewel Masters, those with Elemental Jewels are Elemental Jewel Masters, and those who train with Heavenly Jewels are naturally called Heavenly Jewel Masters.

Heavenly Jewel Masters have a highest level of 12 pairs of jewels, as such their training progress is known as Heavenly Jewels 12 Changes.

Our MC here is an archer who has such a pair of Heavenly Jewels.

This novel has the most potential out of any Xian novel I've seen so far and I've read a lot dozens. Totally unique cultivation system, complex world, well written, harem as well as many other things. It's almost an unforgivable sin that it is completely destroyed by the most annoying main character ever thought up. Every and I literally mean every thing that he says and does is either an attempt of a joke about how great he is or making jokes about how great he is while hitting on... more>> someone. Also none of them are funny at all. That is the entirety of the MC. Now how would you like to know someone like that. You would hate them right. Well its even worse reading about a MC that that is literally all that he says. I have no idea how this novel has such a high rating. <<less

Although this novel was quite good, the descriptions of battle were way too confusing without any true measure of power. In the last hundred chapters or so every battle is filled with "mysterious light" and the light interacts in a really "cool" way that the author does not know how to explain properly. The scenarios are truly difficult to imagine without using minutes to go through the battle sequences multiple times. They are also dragged out and a single battle will take 3 chapters of describing the athmosphere and setting... more>> without any substance at all. It feels just like "MC almost losing, everyone starts worrying, but it was just MC`s plan all along and he has a secret move/plan that no one else knows including the reader. He is going to use this amazing trump card, BUT the enemy has an even stronger trump card than our amazingly OP MC. Empty characters are suddenly incredebly powerful without any explenation of how they became this powerful. Luckily the MC has about 10 other trump cards that no one knows off and the author is just pulling out of his ass because plot armour. Then MC almost dies, but luckily manages to defeat the opponent with his 200th trump card."

We never truly get a good feeling when he fights, and he can never win instantly after a power-up because the opponent is just as OP right? Without any buildup or good reasoning right? Yeah. Making his opponents always stronger than him, without giving him the chance to dominate once in a while truly hurts the enjoyableness of the story, although he is the MC he never feels truly powerful because ALL his enemies are either just as powerful as him or even more so. This makes me feel like he has made no progress, and I am just reading the same battle sequence over and over with just different names and a (supposed, but not really relateable) bigger measure of power. There is no concrete measure at all, just who can make the bigger light? Who can shake the world the hardest? It never feels real. At least have a standard in weight measurement, or give some obvious examples of the spesifics of the situation. The only thing is that "bigger is better" when it comes to manifested spells, nothing about speed, precision, different types of damage, like penetrative damage, slash damage, good usage of elemental damage to gain an advantage and similar descriptions are lacking. Also the ending was way too rushed, and quite bad in my opinion. Why would the author even introduce us to gods and other realms to explore when he is just ending it with "yeah and then they lived happily in seclution for the rest of their lives." We don`t even get to see him being with Xue`er which I had anticipated for a long time. He is also never with more than one of them at the same time, and we don`t get to see a good dynamic between him and all his wives in their interaction which leaves me dissapointed. Was still quite enjoyable to read tho. <<less

Dear reader to be,

I am happy to announce that this story passes my approval.

Yes, approval. I am a veteran of many weird and varied tales of harems, isekai, cultivators, proto-culture - DE CULTURE!, OP characters, silly and serious blends of action, drama, humor, and pure awesome badasseriness (is that a word?), anyways, I would again state this story does pass the mark and I can see why it is part of the top 20 rankings and why there are so many other crazy readers who read it too. See... more>> above charts.

In this story setting you will get your OP character, but he will grow and grow until he's the most powerful of them all. As expected. He also will have a harem and that harem will also be growing with him. His gals are as interesting as the MC.

The supporting characters that help our MC grow will also have time to shine in the limelight of his OP caped baldiness (is that a word too?) or dare I say BOLDness?

and to the detractors who talk about how our MC is s*upidly weak to hot, like totally hot women even though he's super smart, savvy, and conniving...... uh. Like totally, Duh! NAME me ONE straight, heteros*xual orientated, young, vibrant, that is NOT affected by E.D. who wouldn't be s*upidly idiotic in the presence of hot, like totally scorching hot women??? Women that come 1 in over 9000 years, the kind that make you wish you were 2D and not 3D. I'd bet you can't even name yourself. (unless you'r NOT straight, heteros*xual orientated, young, vibrant, that is NOT affected by E.D.)

Enough of that dear reader to be.

Instead if you can handle this kitchen of weirdness, mixed with humor, action, love and drama, then give this a read.

You won't be dissappointed like me.

Signed: Me, Almighty Me.

(note: I'll probably now hold off reading the series until the last 860th chapter...) <<less

Good at the beginning and it turns bad quickly. Too many wives with unreasonable links. All MC friends and enemies are only one dimension. Ex. A girl likes MC. She will like him all the way until the end. No matter how MC cheats her. He just fk her sisters.

MC is too good and number one unique guy in the whole world. Any sects and any girls want him. Ridiculous!

Only one good thing is that translators keep translating regularly. That is one of the reasons for pp to keep reading... more>> it.

Also, Rating Score around 4.2 or 4.3 is not true. It should be 3.5-3.9 at the beginning. Then, turn 2-3 around volume 10. Then, I give rating 1 at volume 15. All novels from wuxiaworld (whether good or bad) have invincible hands to keep their rating above 4.0. Then, I suggest if you want, try to read up to 5-10 volume That is when story turns bad. <<less

This was the first ln I read and oh boy what a start

The story starts of off strong from the beggining, the main char is arrogant, rougish and bit of an ass but good deep down

The cultivation, the world building, the battles, everything is done almost perfectly. Only bad thing for me is the forced harem but that is just me.

... more>> Battles are described perfectly and skills and equipment are one of the more interesting things I have seen been it in novels or mangas

all in all for now the ln was awesome and I cant wait for full translation <<less

The novel started really good but as the story goes on the MC becoming more OP and OP that it makes him invinsible even facing the upper limit strong individual. The author only thinks what convenient on MC. He included not only plot armor even plot weapon, plot skill and really alot (especially the no cooldown skill. Unlimited stun). The first few advantages are already good but added more is enough.

Still a good read for people who like OP MC but not me. Yup totally gonna drop this. I... more>> cant stand his arrogance and plot all stats. <<less

3/5 Generic Story read up to 300 chapters or so.

After reading ahead with raws I found that the story has a very slow pacing and it focuses too much on character dialogues and tedious fights. The MC lecherous personality can get annoying, and he doesn’t seem to care if the girls would get jelous. He seems too fickle when it comes to love, although he’s wiling to die for any of them, he doesn’t realize that the other girls will suffer if he dies. The immaturity of the MC makes... more>> you wonder what the target audience for this novel is. Also there is not much sense of danger that the MC could be killed due to lack of prominent villains and his harem all belongs to prestigious families, hence they’d have protection from their family backgrounds. <<less

After catching up to tales of demons and gods, I started looking for more comedic and shameless lead and found long live summon then heavenly jewel change.

I found this one to be the best in terms of comedic value and shamelessness amongst the 3 mentioned earlier. Many times I would be smiling to myself and blow air out of nose to suppress my laughter and not look like a crazy person while reading in public. The love story is also endearing but not too distracting. Looking forward for more to... more>> come! <<less

This novel...

The GOOD:

    • The core story is (if you weather the rest) not too bad.
    • There are some l9ikable characters, plot points.
The BAD:

    • Author likes to justify r*pe, people easily acquiescing to, and recovering from r*pe, as well as kidnapping for the purpose of r*pe. There's also some 'token humorous' resistance to his philandering, but 'whatever', it's harem.
    • Almost everything good that happens in this word, I kid you not, is a result of the MC following his dick. Not even worth it to mention other 'forced plot' conveniences with that glaring eyesore in the lead...
    • Author will build up some neat stuff for a while, then 'time passes', and he just forgets it, or uses it as a crutch to force some other nonsense thing later.
    • Lots of 'unimportant' people die at certain parts for dramatic effect only.
    • Author forgets earlier acquired skills-
      Spoiler

even to the point of ignoring time travel to 'fix' carelessly lost lives.
Fix typos writing a scroll? Spam reverse time x 1000

See people die in front of him? (They're dead. Aw. : (

      )

      [collapse]

    • The writing... This novel is 848 chapters (or whatever by whichever dumb numbering system). I'm not sure if it's complete, but I don't care.

Most of it (1/2 to 2/3) is the author explaining some sh*t to you. If the fluff was edited out, it would be 300 chapters- tops with no loss of action. The actual _story itself_ is minimal compared to:

      • forced via explanation actions,
      • forced via explanation conditions,
      • forced via explanation changes,
      • forced via explanation behaviors,
      • exposition,
      • exposition,
      • exposition, and
      • forced via explanation world canon changes. etc.
    • You'll find yourself dredging through paragraphs and paragraphs of 'I don't care about these details' and 'I knew this already' before the action in the story actually progresses.

    • Additionally, the MCs & allies victories all pretty much spring from:
      • s*upid 'experts' of all types doing dumb sh*t or overlooking logical shit.
      • MC & (some) allies plot armor
      • other forms of forced plotting
    • Desperately relies on the formula:
      1. Push situation from 'bad' to 'worse'- till no one should be able to solve it!
      2. Have MC suddenly, magically solve it.
    • Anything you learn about the 'permanent world canon' is probably temporary
    • 'More pure'='More strong'; is most of the focus of the story, with certain 'purity levels' apparently being thresholds for a thing needing a new, descriptive version of the same thing (but notably better 'because more pure).

If this sounds dumb, it's exactly the foundation of the attribute system used here.
    • Spoiler

Author seems to LOVE the MC having dragon qualities, but shits on dragons throughout the story- making them weak-willed plot puppets that repeatedly suffer (even as a vehicle to help the MC)

      [collapse]
    • I skimmed the last 10 chapters, as they were fluffed out with too many explanations, forced 'twists' and dumb. Eventually I decided I didn't care what the end was supposed to be, as the author made it s*upid. I know that sounds like a biased, whiny complaint, but the MC has a bunch of OP or useful powers, almost all of which he refused to remember he could use for the final, critical battle. s*upid. I gave up. I'm done.
The Different:

  • Some seemingly new-ish ideas in cultivation with the jewels, which quickly become obvious as a barely relevant external, 'attribute' & 'level' indicators- so 'nothing really' otherwise.
Overall, I don't recommend it. It's not horrible, and it does have some good points- but the ending is particularly weak with a forced climax that pretty much just 'does neat shit' that's 'illogical, but whatever'.

Glad I'm done.

I don't get how this story got so highly rated, maybe I'm in the minority but when the protagonist seems to take delight in raping a woman I find that rather off-putting and so I stopped reading the novel. Maybe beyond that is an okay novel but I have no motivation to put up with that shit. R*pe is a surprisingly common thing in these wuxia novels (often used as a way to solidify a relationship because the author has no idea how to write a romance) but in other... more>> stories when r*pe appears it usually has two features to redeem the protagonist. Typically the protagonist is under some sort of drug/spell such that if he doesn't carry out the act one or both of the characters will die or else just loses control of his body. In other words the protagonist doesn't intend to r*pe her so it doesn't feel like the protagonist is awful in this novel the protagonist does intend to r*pe the woman. The second feature is that the protagonist feels guilty afterwards and indeed further reinforces the idea that the protagonist isn't some freak who thinks raping people is okay. In this novel the protagonist rather gleefully takes a souvenir from the scene of the crime showing no remorse. In conclusion idk why someone even translated this. <<less

This novel started brilliantly.... It had unique techniques, Cultivation system and great fights.... Till half way I found it very interesting.... but other half was very booring. The novel kept becoming illogical... author kept abandoning the rules which he set up... His explanation became forced... He stopped paying attention to the details and it became too repetetive... This is the only novel where I thought harem was too forced... His first love was too good for an harem to take place.... harem gave a good feeling but it was illogical... The name of the novel is heavenly jewel change.. the strongest stage of power... You know what.. MC never reaches that stage... Tang san steal kills the main antagonist and makes the mockery of that HJC stage... MC made many dumb decision and still survives every single time... No significant villain dies till the very end... so unsatisfying... Author wrote a lot of stuff which I call BS.... His logic is nonsense... Overall I loved the first half so much that I can never call it a bad novel... Harem members were fun.. MC was cool... if the author didnt get lost midway... this could've been much more fun... Dont regret reading it.. It was fun

While not as great as the works of IET or Er Gen HJC is overall, a pretty decent work - especially in the early half of the novel. I was looking for something different when I found the story due to its cultivation system and in the beginning I found it. The MC actually uses strategy and trickery and out smart most of the enemies with a noticeable lack of Dues Ex Machina cheat items (while he does rely on his bloodline garnered by how he starts his path of... more>> cultivation it is more of an advantage rather than the typical "I have this so I win" that plagues this genre.) Even the harem starts out much better than usual, with each girl having plenty of time and character development. All in all, the first part of the story is better than most of the genre I've read with entertaining story arcs and a well written cast of characters...

Alas, great things cannot last it seems for about halfway through the story (or at least after he goes to the Xuantian Continent) the story begins to feel rushed and the closer you are to the end the more rushed it becomes leaving you feel lost at times and unfulfilled in the end. Weiqing finds his cheat item, which is the focus of the story for the rest of the novel as well rather than just being an advantage like his bloodline becomes the sole reason why he wins most of the fights from there on out. His harem no longer has any real work put into them, with only the main character for that arc or scene being anything more than a single line or action/reaction background character - even Tian'er is relegated to little more than a power source and the origin of the final Dues Ex Machina that wins the day. The last "member" of the harem doesn't even get any real development at all, instead relying on a "shared life and mind" deal as the reason to be anything more than just an ally with the same goal.

In the end, I would still recommend the story if only because the first half is so good and finishing it for closure even if the last half is a huge rushed waste of potential... but then, if the author had put as much time and care into the latter half of the novel as he did the first... it would have easily made the novel twice if not thrice as long. <<less

These are the reasons I can't seem to like this story:

The cultivation is almost non existent.

I don't really like romance in these types of stories but I can stand it if it's done decently. I can even stand harems if it's done well. The romance is cringeworthy and you would think it was written by a preteen that has never had an interaction with any woman in their life except for their mother.

The MC considers himself a scoundrel, rogue, and other things, but at most he's just a bit mischievous... more>> and likes to do pe*verted things from time to time. Yet this "Rogue" is pretty powerful but lets all the girls around him beat on him, his "friends" take advantage of him constantly, and many other things that go against that image he likes to see himself as.

I just kept wanting to find this enjoyable and kept reading, but I just can't read it any further. <<less

It started of well then really fell off a cliff. It's clear the author has no idea how to write a proper cultivation system. He has a devour skill then the author realizes how OP it is then decides the MC can't use it anymore on the flimsy excuse it affects his cultivation. There are no stats. The things that should be explained like the Jewel levels and the levels of his cultivation technique aren't.

As soon as the author figures out his ability to steal skills from beasts is too... more>> powerful the author then introduces an OP MC who teaches him that such things are pointless. He never finishes anything including his armor. It's clear the author has no idea what he is doing.

But once it hits 200 (wixi version) it really goes downhill the author releases some sort of OP energy that makes everything he's done upto this point pointless. Had to drop it the hints were there the author can write nice storylines but as soon as gets to 200 it's all pointless battles, filler, and chasing after woman. I wish it were actually chasing after woman but no the MC keeps losing his women they go back to their sects then the MC has to retreive them convince their fathers yet again of his awesomeness and get them to hand over his daughter.

Here's an idea instead the next time a woman runs off take the hint MC. In any case no idea why it's rated so high probably because it started well and they haven't gotten to the later chapters. Can't bring it to myself to finish after the MC has to yet again do the exactly same plot as before as it comes with tournment. Boring. Had to drop. <<less

I don't hate harem or TJSS. But this novel is not worth even 3 star. Maybe because TJSS other novel like Douluo Dalu series, Shen Yin Wang Zou, and many more, for me were good reading experiences that I rather hope having enjoyable experience when reading this novel. And no offense to the one that give this novel high score review, but personally I don't feel this novel deserves that kind of high score.

Why low evaluation score?
    • The world building, cultivation and the premise is good. The downside is the MC personality become rather questionable. He suppose to be a shamless young man with rather uprights moral (?). But with the more story develops, MC become kind of scroundel like generic template of MC in most of chinese harem novel that I read.
    • The characters development rather kind of bad. The MC suppose to be a hardworking even when he get 'cheat' in earlier chapter. But the MC develop rather sudden from weak to OP without the 'hardwork' accompanied. MC have kind of timely luck (plot armor everywhere) when even supposedly arrogant teacher or powerful teacher so eager become his master.
    • It's alright if MC is shameless, but forcing someone who don't love you, tricking someone to marry for his own selfish gain, r*pe someone because of plot armor. Recycle that kind of concept for almost all of harem member, I don't get the romatic feeling that author suppose to transmit in this novel. And when I was hoping TJSS will deliver a good romance in harem. Oh boy, I was wrong.
I would recommended this novel for someone who like harem with purposes only collecting it's member.

Really like this novel. The MC is likable, the Harem is not blown out of proportions and the girls are also likable. The story itself is also pretty good. I do have a few problems though. This novel gets frustrating with some of the decisions the MC makes especially regarding how forgiving he is towards complete and utter a**holes who did him wrong. Some of the characters which we're supposed to consider as the "good guys" are just complete and utter scumbags. They have terrible senses of morality, but are... more>> written as understandable or reasonable people. It gets infuriating when MC agrees with this notion and decides to forgive them so there is no payoff. Some of the arcs or situations in the story make no sense. The author tries to create problems out of nothing and escalates otherwise easily resolvable issues. The family of his harem girls are pretty unlikable and at best you'll end up tolerating them. Most of the bad stuff I mentioned stems from actions made by the family members of his girls. The story isn't riddled with this stuff so If you can ignore or steel through it then the rest of the novel is top notch.

Alright just finished reading this pile of sh*t and I can finally say I've found an "author" more ret*rded than er gen. This story is frustratingly drawn out. Each chapter has excessive amounts of minor and irrelevant details that don't stop after being mentioned once. NO this f*cktard author repeats the same irrelevant details over and over until you wanna pull your hair out from their roots. If I had a penny for every time "saint energy" was mentioned... anyways the cancer doesn't stop there. Oh no! The level of inconsistency in this novel is mind numbing. In fact having a brain will impede your ability to read this shit. This f*ckwad "author" says one thing and says exactly the opposite of that thing in the next chapter or sometimes in the following sentences. SOOOOO many f*cking inconsistencies and statements that contradict one another. It is a f*cking chore to read this and I only finished cuz I was in so deep already. I lost literal brain cells reading this garbage and I could feel as I was losing them. The only thing good about the story is the premise. It was cool and interesting, but sadly it was told by a ret*rd who dropped out of high school writing class. This bit*h doesn't know how to tell a story let alone end one. Why is it that every single chinese novel I've read always have rushed, unfinished or scuffed endings? These f*ckers are hacks without any talent or ability. The creativity to end a story decently doesn't exist in their little f*cking brains. <<less

I've actually finished the whole novel but translations are only 70% done as of the time of writing. Overall very enjoyable and the MC is great. The harem gets a little out of hand and the last third is rushed with lots of cliches but it kept me entertained enough until the end. If you like smart + cheeky MC who gets the girls (read harem) combined with action then this is definitely worth a read.

Let me cut the chase: This story is about 50% comedy, 20% combat and 30% infodumping, and the main thing that decides whether you would like this story is how much you like (or at least can tolerate) the protagonist's scoundrel personality.

The premise: Our young protagonist lives the typical xianxia protagonist life. He is the son of the most powerful general of a not-so-powerful empire, but he has tr*sh potential and thus he is unable to cultivate. He is also unwillingly betrothed to the local princess, but after some complications... more>> he runs away and joins the army, where he immediately gets on the nerves (and later woos) the most beautiful and talented young female genius of the country. Then it turns out that, due to the combination of not one, but two "fortuitous encounters", he suddenly gains insane talent and a unique and super-powerful cultivation method. If you were playing the "xianxia cliché drinking game just now", please contact a hospital right now, as I am afraid you are about to get alcohol poisoning...

The basic plot also follows Tang Jia San Shao's other works to a T. We have a young genius with a similarly young genius girl, them training during a time-skip, then they enroll in an academy where the protagonist immediately makes a name for himself with his talent and they meet an eclectic bunch of characters who I presume would become returning characters. Same old, same old.

The main difference here is the that our protagonist, Zhou Weiqing, is a scoundrel, and not in a cute way. He is a conniving, lustful bastard who can swear eternal loyalty to his "wife" and then an hour later fondle another woman's ass without missing a beat. He is also manipulative, messing with the heads of not only his enemies, but also his supposed friends and allies, sometimes for nothing more than the lolz.

And here is the crux of this series: If you find this guy amusing (and if you can overlook him raping his future girlfriend early on while he was unconscious... it makes sense in context), then you are going to enjoy this series. If you hate his guts, then nothing can salvage this series for you.

That said, it's not like there is much else to this work. The cultivation system is fairly interesting at first glance, but on second glance it is just a slightly reworked version of the one in DD; when people reach an early bottleneck in cultivation, they form magical jewels that show up around their wrists. They can be either physical (they boost a certain attribute, plus later the gems can transform into weapons or armor) or they can be elemental (they can store skills from monsters, which you might recall was how people gained skills in DD). However, aside of this, the cultivation system is fairly typical: you gather heavenly energy, you break through bottlenecks, you become stronger, you get more jewels to turn into equipment/store skills, rinse and repeat.

As for the setting, as far as I could see it follows the same mold as most other xianxia/xuanhuan works I have read, as in completely failing to account to just what kind of a huge difference these OP cultivators running around would mean to warfare and politics. So instead we have the classic "protagonist starts in weak empire -> there is a stronger empire -> there is a stronger empire -> there is a stronger empire -> repeat ad infinitum" crap we see in so many other works.

So, in conclusion, while I kinda like this series, I guess I would have liked it a lot more if I have read it earlier. As it stands now, just paining a new coat over the same tired old tropes is just not working for me anymore. <<less

Firstly, I would like state that I am able to speak, read and understand Chinese. I am bilingual but I simply read and write English alot faster. In terms of competency, my English is ways ahead of my Chinese.

Most of the light novels out there are not fully translated yet. Most of the time the reviewers can only give reviews up to the most recent translation. Heavenly Jewel Change [HJC] on the other hand was compelling enough for me to put up the Chinese raws to try and continue reading where the translations stopped. On top of that, I actually finished the story. That says alot.

Review proper

I am not going to go into the story. I mean it is a Xianxia type of story so what do you really expect right? I finished the story about maybe a month or two ago. As far as I recall, the story is basically one of those MCs with a OP innate ability and went on to get more and more OP. It has comedy and harem. I like to read light hearted stuff. I really dont mind a funny or goofy MC. Being a bit of a harem-ish type of story fits my taste as well. I could never figure out why would anyone hate it. I mean, monogamy relationship is all well and good but the strong gets all the girls in the real life. This happens in the animal kingdom and even ancient kings. So for the story to have those settings seemed perfectly acceptable to me.

The story don't really have any need for a ramp up time. It is quite easy to hook you and you will just get stringed along with the story. Enemies are not mindless. The story pacing is slightly better than douluo dalu. I really have a problem with stories in the range of say 2000 chapters. For me, the story length was about just right.

You can always just give it a try and if you dont like it, then drop it. It was quite an enjoyable read for me.
