Xi Ning was punished for something he did. As his punishment, he had to go into different worlds to complete missions, which includes fixing bugs that would cause the plot to shift.

His mission targets include [a person that never existed in the original plot], [a supporting character who had suddenly had a breakdown], [the villain who suddenly killed the protagonist], etc. As a punishment for his wrongdoing, he was reborn into…

An omega young master who is suffering from [anorexia].

The emperor’s son who has [skin hunger].

A beautiful young vampire with [mania].

A little mermaid with [aphasia]

A forest elf suffering from [depression]

System: Host, good luck! You can do it!

Xi Ning: …

Fortunately for him, there is a way to alleviate his illness. There is an “antidote” for him in each world. Xi Ning had always adhered to his principle of [a tool would be useless if it’s not used], but the direction of the plot suddenly took a twist…

——A delicate and graceful omega from a noble family tugged on his silent classmate who is from a poor family. He refused to let go and said, “I want to eat the meal you brought. You have to feed me.”

——The seventh prince of the world of immortals descended from the Azure Dragon. One day, he suddenly brought back a low-level demon. With his eyes filled with glistening tears, he said to the low-level demon, “Can you hug me and stroke my dragon horns again?”

——A beautiful but dangerous vampire caught a sickly young man. He sniffed the beautiful pale neck of the young man in front of him and l**ked his fangs. He threatened the man, “If you don’t let me take a bite, I’ll kill you.”

——The little mermaid who disliked talking was abducted by a group of interstellar pirates. When he met the cruel and vicious pirate leader, he whined coquettishly, “Give me a bite of the cake and I’ll sing for you.”

——The beautiful elf, who symbolized peace and life, was depressed. He tightly embraced the infamous and wicked dark magician. The beautiful elf sobbed, “Please don’t go. I need you.”

My rating is primarily directed at the way in which this novel is translated. I know this is a lengthy, math-y and perhaps seemingly malicious review but I really do intend it to be a plea for good translation practice and consideration of the original text.

As mentioned by many other viewers, there is a lack of transparency by the translator (and the entire translating group it seems) as to which chapter they are translating — it seems the novel has been arbitrarily broken up such that chapter 20 is not... more>> even past chapter 5 in the real novel.

Why do I find this problematic?

  • it’s an increasing trend in the translating space that speaks to money more than love of the novel. 1 ‘chapter’ is associated with about 7 ads on their website. That’s 7 ads per 1/5th of a chapter. I’m all for people being paid to do what I believe to be genuine and difficult labour, but I am not sure how I feel about the lack of transparency at which it’s carried out. To be honest this translator is not nearly the worst of it — lots of websites especially in the B/G translation space do the same and even have a huge list of all these ‘chapters’ you can unlock - $3 for 7 chapters of X amount of novels !!! (Which is really $3 for maybe 1.5 real chapters...)
  • the pacing becomes very very poor. Chapters are a part of a novel’s key structure — when chapters are arbitrarily divided, especially without reader knowledge, pacing often feels very slow and very choppy. And it’s unfair to have that then attributed to the original novel and author’s writing quality.
  • it masks a very slow translation speed. Make no mistake, I don’t intend to make demands on translation speed (although I believe I’m completely spoiled by chrysanthemum gardens’ impeccable speed and quality)... But when translation speed is again Not Transparent through chapter masking I find it problematic. It took about three months to churn out ‘56’ chapters which is what, 10 chapters? So if the novel is 107 chapters it will finish in about 30 months. Which is perfectly fine, if it were transparent.
  • I’ve noticed that chapter splitting can sometimes influence novel rankings because it allows for ‘high’ translation speeds and the ‘large’ amount of chapters look good to readers looking for a substantial read.
So am I against chapter splitting?

As a reader: yes. As a reader in the translation space who parasites off other peoples’ hard work who I acknowledge deserve remuneration (which of course I give in the form of donations) : no.

What do I advocate instead?

Very transparent chapter splitting. I’m talking easy things like having chapter titles reflect the real number through the use of decimal places (1.3) or ‘parts’ (chapter 1 part 3). Furthermore, in regards to what I prefer, I’ve noticed some translating groups who chapter split have sometimes edited the NU chapter number to reflect how many translation chapters to expect and I love this as ‘best’ practice.

Final words

I’m sorry to produce this review on this particular novel, which is associated with a particular translation group. This is not the worst case I’ve seen in terms of chapter splitting or translation group practices by far. This was simply, by bad luck, my tipping point as a reader who has seen this type of practice really really grow in the last two years.

Thank you for reading this review, you’re probably rightfully cursing me and my parasitic hypocrisy. <<less

(4.3/5, I decided to give it a 5 star because it really doesn't deserve a rating of a 3.9) To any future readers who come across this story and decide not to read it due to the other negative reviews, please read through my review first.

Normally I would be the person to give scalding 3 star reviews for mediocre stories, but for this one I have to disagree with most of the other negative reviewers. This story is literally meant to be just a feel-good fluff novel, so if... more>> you're coming here and expecting some sophisticated drama-ridden novel, you're in the wrong place. Truthfully this story really doesn't offer too much plot-wise, but it's a really cute and relaxed read (barely drama at all and it's just love between the MC and the ML). The MC isn't as useless as some other people said, but he isn't overly amazing/smart either. Besides how the ML was in the 1st arc, the ML can be a bit pe*verted later on, but he doesn't cross any of the MC's bottom lines and just pampers the MC a lot.

Now as a heads-up, two other reasons why I think so many people gave it a bad review is that:

1) They MTLed the whole novel and weren't fluent enough in Chinese to actually understand what was going on

Spoiler

I saw someone give this novel as 1 star review and they said that the ML ignores the MC in the second arc and that they think the MC shouldn't apologize to the ML. Some also said that the ML was kind of scummy??? The ML is literally the opposite of a scum gong, he pampers the MC like crazy and tries not to do anything that makes the MC upset. I think the reader might not have read the arc correctly and misunderstood something because what actually happened was that:

    1. The ML is a demon lord and he secretly snuck into the dragon lord's palace to steal something back. During this time, he pretends to be a weak and young demon that the MC takes as his servant. They fall in love but since the ML snuck into the palace under disguise, they had to come up with a plan so that the ML can get the dragon lord's approval to legitemately marry the MC. The ML's plan was to reveal his identity as a powerful demon lord (so he could compete in power with MC's other suitor) and pretend to not know the MC so nobody would suspect that he snuck into the palace and was the MC's servant. The ML didn't ignore the MC out of malice and he isn't the scum that some readers make him out to be! Literally one chapter after this happene, the ML revealed this to the MC and they were back to being lovey-dovey.
    1. The same reviewer said that the ML treated the MC terribly and they they think the MC shouldn't try to apologize to the ML. I whole-heartedly disagree with what the reviewer said. The actual gist of what happened is that the MC got poisoned by someone and the posion had an aphrodiasic property. The ML tries to help the MC get rid of the poison (not in any inappropriate way) and while he's treating the MC, the MC is muddle-headed by the aphrodiasic and calls out out the name of the ML in the first arc. This makes the second arc's ML (who doesn't have ANY memory of the previous world) extremely upset because he thinks the MC is using him as a substitute and doesn't actually love him (also partly because the MC seems to fall in love with the ML right away, so he has some doubts). Even though he's deeply hurt, he still helps the MC detoxify the poison. He doesn't want to see the MC for a couple of days because of this, but unbeknownst to the MC, even while the ML is "ignoring" the MC, the ML still helps the MC clear up some of his other problems. The MC understand that the ML is sad because of this and tries to get the ML to stop ignoring him and that's why he fakes sickness to get the ML to meet him. After the MC explains to the ML, the ML ended up being the one apologizing to the MC for ignoring him. I have to say that it is kinda of weird that the ML comes to secretly visit the MC at night, but besides this I don't know what else the ML should have changed. Besides, imagine if your lover was poisoned by an aphrodiasic and while you were treating them, they called out some other person's name and their only explaination to you was that it was your name in your past life, how would you feel? It's true that communcation between lovers is crucial, but I can understand how hurt the ML was and honestly I do think it was necessary that the MC put some effort into making the ML feel secure in their relationship.
      (
      [collapse]
2) The translator split each orginal chapter into like 5 "chapters" and failed to inform the readers that they did so. I'm not sure why the translator did this but chapter 40-50 something is really around chapter 10ish of the raws. This might make some people think that the story moves really slowly while it doesn't. The translations are pretty good, so it doesn't really affect readablity but I wish they were more honest about the fact that they were splitting the chapters. <<less

ARC CHAPTERS:

Spoiler

Arc 1 [ABO - Anorexia]: 1 - 83

Arc 2 [Immortals - Skin Hunger]: 84 - 144

Arc 3 [Vampires - Mania]: 145 - 202

Arc 4 [Mermaid - Aphasia]: 203 - 258

Arc 5 [Elves - Depression]: 259 - ?

[collapse]

The chapter count is annoying. Not sure why the TLer didnt put the actual chapters, or atleast the arc groups when TLing, Regardless, Ive put them here for anyone who wants to know.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

The 'Illnesses':

Spoiler

Im a big fan of the idea of the Illnesses, but they dont actually effect the difficulty after the 1st arc bec the ML and MC practically get together the moment they meet.

for example:

  • the "skin hunger" in the 2nd arc lasts maybe 10 chapters, then its never mentioned again except for the last arc chapter
  • "mania" in the 3rd arc also lasts for ~20 chapters, then its only used to make MC look 'needy' for MLs company
  • "aphasia" in the current 4th arc has also followed the same theme, only relevant for about 5 chapters then it all of a sudden isnt even a problem because MC doesnt even want to talk to anyone but ML
[collapse]

The arcs have varying degrees of memory loss but the Illnesses literally only exists to have MC easily recognize the ML (via him being the only one who can 'cure' his illness)

MC's Character Development:

Spoiler

MC's Priorities after Arc 1 do a major flip, Instead of actually caring about the mission he just wants to spend his time with ML instead, it pretty much just becomes a cycle of:

  1. Find ML
  2. Slice of Life romance
  3. "Oh no! ML accidentally finished the mission! Ill find u next world ML QAQ"

In the 1st arc he does actually play an active role in the world mission but its really only that arc. After that all he does is wait for the ML to give him love and solve his missions for him while keeping MC at home as a wife.

[collapse]

Regardless, I do actually like MC when hes not in the brain-dead-shou state.

Opinions on ML:

Spoiler

Some reviews call him problematic for what he did in Arc 2 + after but hes honestly one of the more morally upright / "good" MLs of QT - im looking at you r*pe / confinement / blackmail tags. He acts petty and sometimes doesnt listen or explain why he does things, but he's generally actually a pretty virtuous ML by CN BL standards.

[collapse]

In the end, he's okay, really just okay, Hes not great, or horrible, or even unique enough to be memorable, hes just okay.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Overall, story is meh. Only Arc 1 is really worth reading if you want MC to be an active participant of the storyline. And if im being truly honest here, this gets more and more painful to read the further in you get.

BUT, if all the negatives I listed are things you are looking for, i.e. Reincarnated + reunited lovers + different world and character settings while keeping the dog food, then this might just be a good fit. Otherwise I would not recommend this past Arc 1 <<less

Pretty sure the chapter count used by the translator is fake or they're splitting up chapters without providing the decimals/parts, because all the chapters are incredibly short and by chapter 60 the first arc isn't even close to done, yet the novel is only supposed to have 90 chapters in total - meaning the other 3± arcs combined would be shorter than the first arc alone.

That aside, the story is fairly simple with somewhat vague and nondescript MC and ML that are hard to get a read on and thus... more>> hard to sympathise with and like. It's not bad, but it's not great either - it's fairly basic quick transmigration so far, readable and passes the time but not particularly attention grabbing or intriguing. There's not much drama or twists, nor is there really any action so far. All in all I can only give it the grade of "it was okay", and I doubt most will remember much of what actually happened in the story. <<less

Another good novel! And another pit system. I feel bad about the ending of arc1 but it's okay XD for the succeeding arcs the story ending is similar to other QTs. Give the arc1 a go and decide if this novel suits ur taste 🙂

The arcs are nicely done but story is focused more on the MC and ML and a little on the world protagonists/other chara, since the this novel rotates more on MC's tasks and to alleviate his sickness. Eventually I find the succeeding arcs a lil monotonous,... more>> I don't know if it's just me looking for a QT with 3D cannon fodder/passerby personality. Want to salute the ML for his self control in the abo world. But in arc2 onwards, he becomes overbearing manipulative and a little perv*rt (though he is a beast and keeps touching MC, he doesn't cross the line w/o MC's permission) - probably because of the chara setting.

Will halt the reading of the last arc and extra arcs. <<less

Don’t read if you want a story.

plot? Hah!

Literally useless MC just floundering about, finding ML, and then being useless.

Whole novel is empty like that.

Not worth reading.

ML also is a bit of a scum, and the original reason MC was punished was nonsense.

-50/10.

Great story so far and have finished what has been officially translated (ch. 80). I will mtl the rest of the novel. A bit disappointed with how this was translated (how the translated chapters dont line up with the actual chapters) as I thought going into reading this that there were 80 actual chapters translated of the whole novel, only to realize theres in fact only really 23 as they been broken up so much. I will update this when I finish the mtl.

TBVH I only started reading this because I am so curious with what's wrong with ML upon reading the reviews LOL. Both MC and ML's character changes each arc depending on the character they became... I find that interesting. ML on the other hand becomes darker as the arc progresses until he got full-blown yandere at the last arc.

Others make it seem like the MC and ML had a bad relationship but MC is actually doing a good job of managing the ML that has no memory and has become... more>> an actual cast in the novel. What is the issue between them? THAT'S NOT THE REAL CHARACTER OF ML. Try skipping up to the last chapter in raws to see how he is in real-life, his versions inside the virtual game were basically fictional and influenced by the world plot since he just infiltrated it and without his real memory. Even so, he never did actual bad things despite everything. To compare, the real ML is closest with the first arc ML's character (bug!Alpha).

IDK what kind of expectation other readers had in this little QT but I think it's pretty okay? sure it's not groundbreaking and there is no over-complicated plot. MC being detached to novel characters (except for ML) is reasonable. BIG SPOILER AHEAD! Remember, MC is...

Spoiler

not a real transmigrator but is technically one of the senior System and he is only doing transmigration with all those "debuffs" as a punishment due to his breaking the Systems Rule. Basically it's about an employee being disciplined by the company. And basically, MC is a System himself. And oh, in case it isn't clear, ML is also an employee but in another department but is newer than MC. ML took advantage of his departmental skills to secretly aid MC (IT Dept. or smth maybe since ML seems like a programmer). I also want to add that in this company the employees can transmigrate themselves either for work or personal purposes.

[collapse]

But I guess readers are more used to martyr and nosy type transmigrators. *shrugs

TLDR; Not sticking one's nose up to almost everything doesn't make him useless nor not doing job. He's just exactly finishing his duty without unnecessary heroics for a reason (why? go back to my spoilers). Let's leave that to the holy marys of other novels. <<less

I came on this expecting so much since the tags fit my liking perfectly, but after only reading a quarter of this I change my mind.

In the second ark, the ML acts in a way to the protagonist that would make any rational person angry but no, the protagonist at first is just confused as to why he is acting this way, but then he immediately goes on thinking that he is the one at fault and that he has to 'fix ' it or something.

Spoiler

When the ML exposes his identity to the protagonist he acts like he's never met him at all not just in front of other people but in private as well and he acts indifferent and annoyed when the protagonist wants to talk. What's even more infuriating is that the protagonist thinks that it's his fault and to make the ML speak or ' forgive ' him, he fakes sickness.

just to let you know, during all of this the ML is sneaking into the protagonist's room and either sexually harassing him or watching him for the whole night. Disgusting

[collapse]

Anyway, the protagonist is disappointing and the ML is a pe*vert. <<less

Eh. It’s fine. It’s mediocre.

I really hoped that the story would be an inspirational story where under the illnesses, the MC would rise up in order to find his ML (medicine lord 🤣). But no.

Sometimes I just feel that the affection between the leads overtakes several chapters of the arc (or just the entire story).

Especially so in the mermaid arc.
Spoiler

The male lead has so many responsibilities as the leader of the star pirate group, but he almost doesn’t do anything. They just cuddle for a number of chapters.

[collapse]
It makes me understand why beauty causes a country’s ruin.

I also feel that the MC is like a sitting rock.
Spoiler

He really doesn’t do anything except cuddling with the ML and thinking his thoughts. Just on the top of my head, he doesn’t really have any powers or does any business work.

[collapse]
But I’m just biased because that was not what I hoped for it to be. And I probably wasn’t really into the story.

If you want to casually read, but only hang on by a thread, go ahead. If you like this thing either way, go ahead. This is just my opinion and experience.

Towards the end of the mermaid arc and honestly I just can't wait for the elf arc.. a sad bb elf wanting his lover just seems like it will grip my heart strings. I also kinda wanna know why MC was being punished like this.... Hmmm

I do have to admit tho the translator dragging each actual chapter into what seems like 10 mini chapters is pretty annoying when reading and also doesn't allow you to actually have a sense of what is being read length wise...

first, I read MTL.

I loved this book, it's simple and cute don't go if you're looking for complex plots.

the ML treats the MC very well, and as the worlds go by the MC becomes more and more dependent on the ML.

what I didn't like was just that it doesn't show much of the worlds or the supporting actors, it only focuses on the MC and ML, but that's a particular taste of mine.

otherwise I loved (~ ̄³ ̄) ~

This novel is your regular BL world hopping/quick wear transmigration novel. Nothing really special there. The personality of the MC and ML is a bit inconsistent as they sometimes lose their past memories when entering a new world (less the MC than the ML who always starts out without past memories). The reasoning is there so I can't really fault it aside from my personal preferences that are not in line with the MC's holy mother Gary Stu character that he sometimes displays. I won't go into how realistic... more>> or unrealistic the illnesses are. Not going down that rabbit hole... Therefore, I will only say that the illnesses are a bit gimmicky and only serve the purpose of bringing the main leads closer.

Either way, I have read better quick wear novels. It wasn't the worst, though, thus my rating of 3.7/5 stars. <<less

It's alright. Nothing stellar or revolutionary, but if you just want something to read with a heavy focus on the MC & ML relationship with the theme of world hopping it'll suffice. Not really too deep or tragic, considering the premise of being afflicted with illness, and can be a bit boring as well...

I will note that the current translator seems to be splitting the chapters while not labelling it so. Chapter 23 is actually a portion of chapter 5 and 6 in the raws.

a good novel

the MC (shou) is always very handsome and very cute.
each bow is pleasant to read and really very soft.
sometimes it was really difficult to be able to approach the ML (gong)...

but it was a good read without too much of a problem.
there are missions, but most of the time everything revolves around our relationship.

it is different from the other rapid transmigrations because here the mission which is always carried out, is almost in secondary plan...
the system was quite nice which is rare...
so this... more>> is a no brainer reading.

I think the translator divides one original chapter into many parts because the content is very short for a total of 97 completed chapters of the original. Even chater 52 is still in arc 1.

This is my review to ARC 1 until chap 52.

Tbh Idk why MC acting like that, I mean he is the first flirt and then reject ML. If ML make move he reject him, act like he don't want it, but when System says to make distance to ML he don't want it. The way author... more>> write it looks like coercion to me, why didn't the MC say clearly yes is yes and no is no? Here ML looks like a pusher and the MC refuses but wants, I have a hard time eating sugar because this scene just reminds me of how s*xual harassment happens, like when the victim says no but the perpetrator doesn't care. And the MC is like giving a victim stereotyping vibe that says no on the lips but the body will. Really pissed me off. MC doesn't give clear boundaries because he teases ML but when he's teased back he doesn't want to, while ML likes to force MC even though he says no.

This novel has an interesting story but these details make me annoyed and have a headache. <<less

Not sure if I should say you’re a bit too naive for still expecting high thrilling events after reading the summary, but the signs were very obvious from my perspective. Or maybe it’s because I’ve read a good amount of Danmei to know most of the times what I’m getting myself into.

Anyways, for those who are on the fence, there’s not much plot but the pacing is fluid and soft for the most part. This is good for reading in between the action packed or horror novels.

Ehhhh it's your typical QT BL novel. Sometimes the MC was annoying cuz he couldn't figure out his feelings towards the ML (in 1st arc, 3rd arc, and the 2 vacation arcs), and sometimes the ML was annoying for being too possessive and not trusting MC's love for him.

Spoiler

MC and ML work for the transmigration bureau and during one of ML's tasks, he was struggling and close to failing. So MC snuck in to help him cheat. MC got caught and was punished, his punishment was losing all his memories and complete tasks in 5 worlds. The ML sneaks in to help MC with his punishment, which is why ML is the one who can help MC alleviate his illnesses.

After that, there are just 2 arcs where they go into 2 different worlds to play around in. Since they chose the random selection, where they can go in with or without their original memories, these 2 extra arcs are just them falling in love with each other all over again.
