The first month I left, Lu Jiangming was still happy. The second month, Lu Jiangming occasionally suffered from insomnia. The third month, Lu Jiangming started looking for me. Unfortunately, I died, but he didn’t know that. —No matter how bad you are, I’ll still smile at the thought of you, but you’re the night breeze that I can’t hold back. You are also my obsession. Translator here~

Maybe it was because I read it late at night, but I cried A LOT while reading this.

Not a spoiler because the original novel has the tag, but yeah, this has a bad ending. You should read it, tho. Everytime I find a novel with the BE tag I run away because ughhh I hate hate hate bad endings!! But the title already tells what's going to happen, so I got interested and began to read it.

This won't be your favorite story, it's short and the chapters are short too, so at the end maybe it would have been better too be a little bit more long. But it's a nice story if you want to read it in one go. Oh, if you're going to MTL, pleaaase read the comments! Everytime there was a sad scene they made me laugh jsjs

Spoiler

The BE is for the MC tho... which I totally loved because he needed to suffer! He hurted Yu Muge who is an angel: ( (Also, he found out Yu Muge was dead after THREE WHOLE MONTHS. Like????? Ahh I felt so bad for him that whenever I remember, I start crying aaah;;; I'm very emotional and dramatic, I know

[collapse]

The MC, who is the gong btw, is a total scumbag. I hated him when I started the novel, and I hated him when I finished it. Not only he cheats on the ML, but also doesn't understand why having s*x with other people is bad. He knows the ML loves him, so that's why he doesn't mind that he left him. He just thinks: Oh, he can't live without me, so he will come back for sure.

Sadly, nope, Yu Muge does not come back, because he's dead. If you want to know how he died:

Spoiler

He had depression (that's why the tag), so he commited su*cide. I think it was by overdose but I don't really remember. I was really sad when I read it, because Yu Muge crearly died because of the MC. He tortured him everytime he found out Lu was sleeping with another people. Aghh, at the end he was right, Yu Muge couldn't live without him;;;;

[collapse]

The author had a lot of hate because this story has a kinda similar plot to 10 years I loved you the most, but I don't think she plagarized that novel. There are, of course, similar elements, but aren't all angst novels kinda the same? I don't care at all about that tho, I finally read 10 years and I enjoyed both stories, so if you liked 10 Years you may also like this story! <<less

Most people would either: Crying and blame the MC (seme/gong) for being a scum and a slag man, or, lamenting why the tragedy genre always used su*cide and death to torture and caused the slag man to realize their wrong.

But I am here just to lament, it is because there were the irresponsible parents that future SCUMS like the slag Gong here will be born!

The MC here was an abandoned son. Both his parents were remarried, they were reluctant to take care of MC, and ended up just giving... more>> him a sum of money every month, and let him live alone, without any emotional guidance. This kind of childhood had more or less affecting how MC values love, relationship, and ended up hurting the ML (uke/shou) who sincerely love him.

For all the parents out there, or the soon-to-be parents, please do remember that children all need emotional guidance while they're growing up. Even when they're adults, they still need their parents and family to be there and become their emotional anchors.

Being an exceptional in academics was not a guarantee that children are fine and perfectly alright to live alone! Having many friends didn't mean that children are living their life happily and normally!

When later due to the lack of emotional guidance those abandoned children ended up hurting other people's children, or breaking their hearts, in the end it was the proof that IRRESPONSIBLE PARENTS not only hurt their own abandoned child but also possessed a threat to harm other people's child! <<less

I was in the mood for some slag abuse fic so I read this in one sitting since the chapters were so short, and it's... basically a worse version of Like Love, But Not, honestly.

Not to say the writing is bad. It's perfectly fine. (But, uh, also very similar to Like Not, But Not. I know the author wrote a long-ass author's note about how she didn't plagiarize, but the similarities are definitely there, so I'd be surprised if she didn't take some inspiration from it.)

It's just... the slag... more>> is even more of a slag here, and the catharsis wasn't very... cathartic.

Spoiler

Mainly because Yu Muge is actually, truly dead. So even the later regrets of the slag left a bad taste in my mouth because what does it matter if he regrets? His lover is dead!

[collapse]

The extras almost gave me a glimmer of hope, but then it dashed them at the very end.

Spoiler

At first I thought the author was going for a "rebirth into the past" extra where the two live happily ever after, which made me roll my eyes, but ok, at least Yu Muge can finally have happiness. And then Yu Muge turned out to be in love with someone else in this alternate universe past, and I almost applauded the author, because good show! The slag learning to let go and let Yu Muge find happiness elsewhere is actually really great.

... And then the whole thing turned out to be a dream, and I went, "Well, f*ck this shit."

[collapse]

I'm also really not a fan of stories that treat su*cide as a way to "get back" at someone, which this story definitely does. (And Like Love, But Not actually criticized, which I really enjoyed.) Though from the first author's note, it seemed like she had been going through a really hard time while writing this, so I can understand the desire for vent writing from the author's perspective. (Though it's still not something I can really condone.)

TLDR; So yeah, while in the end, I didn't really regret reading this (it was really short and a pretty breezy read), I wouldn't really recommend it, since... It's already been done far, far better years ago by author Orange Rain with Like Love, But Not. <<less

I feel like laughing at the end. Not because of their death of course. I just feel happy to found and read a novel that reverse the 'normal' plot where the pitiful one forgive the scum partner and they live happily ever after. This novel ending was so damn satisfying.

Title: Believe the title! Not misleading one.

Plot: The story is short about 20ish chapter. I think that suitable with the storyline if it was longer it will become draggy and boring. The writing phase and the scoryline become a bit confusing... more>> because the author mixed all present and past plot. If you not used to this kind of writing it will take time to understand the storyline.

Character: MC is the gong, a cheater, a scum that what you should know about him. If I meet him outside I will smack him with my mom fly swatter. (That thing hurt like hell. Hahaha)

Lu Jiangming deserve his fate. He's one of the most scumiest scum I ever found in all novel I have read. He don't even aware that cheating is wrong and claims its okay because he love Yu Muge not the people he bed with. Well atleast he got what he should. I pity him a bit because he growup with unhealthy family enviroment so I conclude he don't understand what he do wrong.

ML is Yu Muge the one who died. I still didn't agree with his decision to choose death because of that scum. I do know depression is big deal but death is not the solution yeah?

Conclusion: light read, sad, satisfying ending. I like to read the weak and pitiful or abused gong, that's why this story suits my taste.

I remember a quote that said "People say you don't know what you have until it's gone" but actually it's not like that in this novel... the actual situation it was "you always knew what you had, you just never thought you will lost it." <<less

"It was his love that died out of no where"

Such a hypocritical statement said by Lu Jiangming.

He lost his love through his own actions only. Just because Yu Muge endured and endured, does not mean apLu Jiangming's actions where okay.

I wish Yu Muge was stronger. I wish he had lived and lived happily in spite of that bastard.

Similar to gaze at the scenes of debauchery where there's a shitty cheating gong and a depressed shou who finally decides he wants nothing to do with him. The classic plot where the shou leaves and the gong starts regretting everything he did, except in this one the shou doesn't come back. Very angsty and got me crying in the end.

Rating: 3/5- The scum should have been punished more. Even in death you didn’t deserve a person who loved you that much.

Depression really is as dark and debilitating as written by the author. The concept of su*cide in this story is not the answer to pain but is actually the consequences of severe depression and mental illness. The point of the story comes across half heartedly but it’s good that it comes across nonetheless.

The writing was slightly poor on such a strenuous topic and it certainly did not come across... more>> all too well but many of the MCs warning signs were mentioned throughout to help you see how he began spiralling. All too often severe depression goes unnoticed or downplayed until it’s too late. People with depression feel way more than you think, to the point that it’s soul crushing.

The redemption wasn’t enough for me. The death was only the consequences of the true damage inflicted by the ML- abandonment, neglect, betrayal, denial, lies and emotional abuse and manipulation. On the psyche of an already fragile mind, this is basically pulling the trigger slowly on a grenade.

Human beings needs to realise the impact we have on others in the current society and how fragile our mental states are in a high strung, neglectful and high pressured 21st century. Depression is incredibly serious and we need to start acknowledging that. <<less

A quick angst to get some tears in your eyes. The ML is scum to his bone and not deserve the MC at all, even on his deathbed.

I hope MC can live happily in next life

It's been months since I read though didn't leave review. I remember crying to this story, feeling bad for the ML and what he went through alone. Some quotes touched me, especially ML dream of "One cat, two people, three meals, four seasons. It was a wish too simple to be true." The dream chapter showed ML happy with someone else in another AU, though it made me feel bad for MC even though he deserves it. The story was already a tragedy and bad ending since the beginning, and... more>> reading what the ML felt was so sad. He deserved better, screw the MC for what he did. <<less

I actually liked this one. The novel focuses more on the perspective of the scum gong, the MC. I totally understand those who doesn't like this kind of novel because only a few people could stand this kind of infuriating story.

In my perspective, it's a bad ending for the ML (the shou) and good ending for the MC (the gong) Why is it a good ending for the MC? Because we can see him suffer from what he has done. He is the scum of all the scum gong that... more>> I ever knew and a very s*upid one as well. <<less

I really liked 10 years I loved you the most and this story is far far worse imo.

The story is told in the perspective of the scum gong and I cannot feel any empathy for him despite his sad childhood background. Would have been better if it was written from the perspective of the ML but you might as well read 10 years then.

Bitter, short, and painful. Just perfect.

Despite its length, I love Muge straight away. I can relate and sympathize with what he's going through and honestly the extra is what giving me life to see him like that. Now ML on the other hand, is just the typical scu. And honestly witb the ending he reap what he sow which I am happy about. In short, the characters and the story itself are perfect.

I do, however, struggle in the early chapters with the quick back and forth memory since its time... more>> is not quite clear and really abrupt. But as I read through it I realize that the pacing is enough to give me a good and painful story. <<less

I usually like these kinds of stories but I couldn’t quite relate to either of them. (Or their pain.) It just felt flat? I don’t know whether that was because of the translation quality however...

It was a good concept but the transition between flashbacks and present life were whacky. The flow of the words was broken. Too bad, the plot was a certified tear jerker. Still it had its good points

Spoiler

Also the whole dream sequence was weird and pointless. Maybe the author wanted ML to suffer more??Isn't it more painful to live with the knowledge that the one person they loved was hurt to the point of taking away their own life ??Seeing them with someone else doesn't even compare??

I don't know if its because I'm used to this type of story just by thinking of it or what, but its... a bit disappointing. The ML doesn't get much for what he had done, what a shame. It is a tear jerker but not something I will say as a masterpiece. Nice for casual reading. That ending, well, considering the MC still loves him, it make sense... I guess. But damn the ML doesn't even deserve him even a bit. This story is short and simple. A good story... more>> but some part of the story, I feel meh. <<less

3.25/5*

Tragic story. Ending was fitting and satisfying. Great if you need a tear jerker.

Though I inevitably get drawn to these tragic stories now and then, at same time I always have this double feeling when su*cide is used as a trope. Chinese dramas and novels tend to 'romanticize' su*cide. A mean to escape toxic relationship and a mean to make ML regret and remember the MC for the rest of this life. Love is so dramatized. Same here.

I'm not fond of this kind of writing style, too staccato. So I... more>> deducted points for that. <<less

A really short and sad read. If you want to feel some angst, sadness, and potentially cry, feel free to read this. The fact that the story is so simple, short, and yet able to provoke emotions speaks a lot about the novel.

my heart is dead after reading this.. Every time that I feel like crying, I will look away until my tears dried then I will continue but I couldn't control my tears when I read the last chapter. I wanna blame Lu Jiangming but knowing how much he suffered, I can only say that he deserved it. My poor baby Muge huhuhu I just wanna go to heaven and hug you.

I like this ngl and how everything happened it was all so bitter which was something I wanted to read after reading so many mushy and lovey dovey stories 😂 balance is key. This story might not be the best but it's not the worst either <<less
