I'm at chapter 9, and can already tell this is terrible just from the application of gacha in this novel. Clearly this author has never played games with gacha in it, as the things he receives make no sense. If you haven't read, it works as skills rank from: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Rainbow. This is a solid system, but as I said the application makes no sense. If you've ever played a game that contains gacha like Genshin Impact, or just games that contain chances like Madden, you know... more>> that the only time you're going to receive the rare things is when they straight out tell you that you are. If you receive something rare without them confirming, it's just pure luck. This contains no such luck. He gets gold and rainbows (the rarest things) every single time. That's not going to happen in a gacha game. Using Genshin as an example, they have 2 ranks for characters, four star characters (people you can get by story/wish (gacha)), and five star characters (characters that you only have 1% chance of pulling). The only way you can get a 4 star character is if you use the wish (gacha) 10 times, then they give it to you as they mentioned. Did I also forget to mention that 5-star characters are only a 1% pull rate. To finish this off, the simple fact that this gacha system is this terrible pisses me off and shows the author has no experience with gacha, and I'm dropping this novel. <<less

While normally I'd like to read deeper into the story before casting my judgement, I can confidently say this novel is mediocre at best, and thats putting it nicely.

It lacks suspense to the point that its almost like a slice of life novel, when given the content of the story, it really shouldn't be. The MC's personality is also so bland he almost doesn't seem human. After being unjustly banished from his home by his father and sent to the lower realm which is reserved for heinous criminals for "lying"... more>> about what his skill was (which is a stretch of a punishment to rationalize in it of itself), MC's reaction is neither to get angry or vehemently defend himself, but instead gives a weak rebuttal before accepting his fate and walking the plank himself without resisting. He seems neither angry at his father or his brothers or his fiance for his predicament, and fully accepts that he's been sentenced to death by his own family like it's no big deal, not because he's a badass or too dignified to show his weakness mind you, but because he's a shallow and empty character.

Well great, he's sent to the lower realm filled with terrifying monsters, the worst criminals that have been exiled, and he has nothing but his sword and his gacha skill which he doesn't know how to use yet. This should be the part where he desperately claws and fights for survival, where he experiences hardship and struggles, where he swears for vengeance, literally anything along those lines right? Nope, this novel transforms into a slice of life novel at this point. The next however many chapters can be condensed to "he fought random mobs, beat them, used them for points to fuel his gacha, and drew a couple of ultra rare pulls". In fact, he pretty much grinds mobs OFF-SCREEN and it's a literal walk in the park for him. On his first day he kills 110 monsters for 11k points to spin gacha, and does so each and every day without breaking a sweat. And because it's so unimportant, the battles happens off screen or are written off in a sentence or two, so really all you read is his gacha pulls and then he gets some skills like fishing, smithing, farming, apothecary, earth magic and you can already see where this novel is going based on those skills right?

While there is nothing wrong with a slow slice of life novel, (not to say this is one) that's only if it's done right and in a believable manner with proper logic and reasoning. Narratively it doesn't make sense that the land reserved for exiled criminals is a cake walk for this 12 y.o. Kid to frolick about killing 100+ monsters daily, given we're told he's someone who doesn't know how to use his skill even if he is a gifted swordsmen amongst his peers.

The only character that seems real or interesting thus far is Elise, his twisted fiance, who although incredibly cliche and stereotypical, has a believable rationale and motivation for her tendencies and her behavior towards MC. <<less

The story is dull, and the scaling / rarity of everything doesn't make sense. There's four grades of rarities for the gacha, but it is about an even amount every time like 3 3 3 2 outcome. Character development and relations also suck

A bit like Rimuru from Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken but MC is a human

The fifth son of Duke. He's banished to lower world (where monster live) just because he can't use his gacha skill cuz he don't have points by his father ... more>>
Spoiler

But soon they know what MC say's about his skill is true by God's word and Kingdom search for him, but MC already pissed off he don't want to come back to upper world where human being is live & want to have a leisure life cuz he don't like power struggle between noble

[collapse]

He's not ruthless but kill opponent with consideration unlike other MC who have a wimp personality or true evil

Romance? Till vol 3, i've seen 4 candidates
Spoiler

The first waifu is goblin queen (petite beauty like human with black hair, she just have horn on her head) MC already had s*ex with her, b!tch ex-fiancee saint who always looking down on him & a Hero who loves him is not yet to come searching for MC, and the new petite vampire waifu (i can't say loIis cuz she's just don't have b**ba lol)

[collapse]

So far so good after reading those wimpy MC with no balls & dense as black hole, can't wait to see the Harem to build <<less

I like it. It's kinda like Slime Tensei where MC goes around to meet monsters and gain monster friends.

The only downside is that the plot armor is kinda heavy.

Spoiler

As you can see in the title the word "Gacha" is part of the title. But the Gacha system in this novel has rainbow as the highest rank. What does the MC get? Oh look its 1 to 3 rainbow everytime! I know such extraordinary luck. MC should really go buy the lottery.

[collapse]

It's not really a problem for me but the MC has the multi-purpose "I-can-do-everything" power. I know that some people don't like that so just a warning.

Spoiler

MC has like appraisal, beast taming, summoning, magic, building, etc.

Not bad for a quick read. <<less

So far it gets 5 stars for its potential. The translation is very good and although the story follows some standard tropes a bit, it hasn't effected the quality of the story as of yet. We will see where it goes from here but seems to be well worth reading.

Also as a side note. Don't let the story status showing a hiatus deter you. After looking at it a bit the author is still active on other projects and has said releases for this one will resume once he finishes... more>> the 3rd arc. He is simply taking a breather between arcs and from what I can tell via google translate he should begin posting more within the next month or so. <<less

Promising start. Translation is great, and the way they format the status of the MC is also organized which makes it easy to read.

As for the story, so far it's looking good, MC is cast away by his family for being "incompetent" which seems to be a popular trope right now. His skill "Gacha" has a lot of potential and could also open up a lot of opportunities. Anyways 5 stars for a good start, good translation and for hoping for a good series

Is this generic? Yes, it is, but, is that bad? I mean, most of generic novel indeed are garbage but this one is pretty enjoyable, even though I know that this is a regular kingdom building novel I found myself eager to read the next one.

If you are looking for something complex, this one is not for you, if you just want to read a monster kingdom building which is actually entertaining, welcome

only liked the vol 1 cause he does things his way and moves at his own pace... even if it seems boring to others I'm ok with it cause it's a good time passer and is entertaining for me

then vol 2 came along, almost all the actions he's done in this vol is for the sake of others... really don't like the fact that he might get close to some girl that's always "tempting" him for the sake of duty

yeah he's helping them and it's ok for me, but he... more>> really doesn't have to be close to that girl, sigh

even the premise of him meeting his new companion seems forced, cause in all honesty they're really different to the ones he saw earlier and the only reasoning that was given is that they're unique <<less

A story about a boy exiled because of his unique Gatcha skill. Standard Japanese trope with OP beta male protagonist. But, the translation is great and fluid.

That's why it is 5 stars for me.

TLDR: More slice of life than adventure novel. The best parts of the novel are the parts you get the least of. Move along.

At this point, just like some of the above reviews said, this turns into a slice of life novel super quickly. As some other reviews said, the punishment to being sent down doesn't fit the crime. I was waiting for a stronger reasoning behind it, as some of the chapters in the first volume follow the POV of various characters in the "upper world". He's way too... more>> calm for someone who was essentially sent to die in the "lower world" and the fights are no longer than a couple of sentences long after the first few chapters. It doesn't help that he learns so many skills, abilities, and stats at a lightning pace. I imagine that even the author is having a hard time determining what the skills actually do for him.

What kept me reading was a very early reveal about something that essentially would absolve him of his "crime" and what would happen after characters went to retrieve him. However, after 58 chapters, the most interesting characters who he could be interacting with haven't shown up yet. You'll be kept waiting for the redemption/absolution arc to begin, akin to Shield Hero or other revenge fantasy reads, but you won't get that here.

I wish the author understood what parts of the series were good and focused a bit more on them rather than the run-of-the-mill, slice of life plot that plagues even the best of premises. <<less

This novel is very well fleshed out! It has a very traditional starting point, where the MC gets thrown out without reason, but it manages all the plot developments in a logically consistent way and avoids all the pitfalls novels of this type often have, such as no-brain enemies, sudden OP growth, poor character development, or ambiguous moral righteousness. The novel happily surpassed my expectations, and I plan to continue on with the Syosetu source after this review of the translation (also pretty high quality, and screen reader friendly).

To respond... more>> to all the comments about the gacha odds: just because you've been corrupted by exploitative mobile games, doesn't mean that all gacha are inherently skewed to screw you over. Rather than something like FGO, where you might have a 1% chance to draw a rare, I envision this closer to one of those gumball-machine like games, where you'll get something every time and you're bound to get something cool if you put in $50. The pacing isn't an instant road to OP-Ness, either, since the MC often has to roll the 11x gacha 10-15 times in order to max out his skills.

Enemies have decent enough character development as well - we get to see why the family turned out the way it did, and we can see why they threw him out so easily. They aren't shoddily put together like most isekai villains as the baddy to end all baddies, and their perspectives, while simplistic, still add to the novel. The heroine development is a little lacking, since they fall in love very quickly, but since romance isn't the main focus of the novel anyway I judge it to be OK. <<less

I was enjoying it at first but... I guess my interest started declining when the MC began involving himself with the goblin queen. All I can say is, here we go again. I know this was tagged as harem. I don't really mind harem as long as the MC's relationship with every girl is built in a way that I can respect. But no, as usual, here we have another female throwing herself at the MC on the first day they meet (regardless if it's done out of obligation).

Spoiler

Thankfully the MC turned her down but she still visited his room that night and the next night. Even though nothing happened, it's just irritating. And the MC just goes along with it as if he's never been traumatized by a former fiancee. Sure. Sure, whatever.

[collapse]

Although there's nothing unique about the story, I will continue to read for now. I'll just ignore the females, skip their scenes if necessary, since I'm interested in the general plot of gacha and skill building. I do wish he won't become king of the monsters yet. Maybe in the future, but not now. I still want him to go and explore the lower world with his summons and experiment with his skills. Please give me at least this much, Author-san. <<less

It's a fun, light hearted, world-building / adventure sort of story with a MC that qualifies as an actual "hero".

This... isn't the worst novel in the world. The writing is a little dry and I can feel no personality from the MC at all, but we're still in the early stages.

I think the thing that bugs me the most about this so far is that despite it not being an isekai, the MC still feels and acts like an emotionally stunted otaku. Which is fair, so far he's a twelve year old who only wanted his father's affection, but he fits the dense stuttering MC mold almost too well.

I... more>> hope there will be some character growth and I'll be able to rate this higher. The translation quality is decent. <<less
