Guide to Stabilizing the Blackening of the Villainous Husband

Ling Zhen transmigrated as a female cannon-fodder in a dog blood novel.

The female partner had plastic surgery done for the novel’s male lead, and then divorced her husband. The ex-husband blackened in the later stages of her life, becoming a big villain in the novel.

And she, for betraying her husband, and angering the only relative he had, was finally retaliated by the blacked-out boss, and is killed in a mental hospital. Orz

Fortunately! She transmigrated just in time and the big guy hasn’t turned black yet.

So Ling Zhen turned into a healing little fairy, sang sweet songs and danced fairy dances, touched her head and cooked lovingly.

Appease his violent mood, change his paranoid thoughts, reform his antisocial behavior – at last! Transformed a black bomb into a good young man with a docile temperament and a positive attitude!

The potential safety hazard was completely eliminated, and Ling Zhen finally dared to leave with confidence, so she took out the divorce letter that year.

The next second, heaven and earth changed color, and the superficially good villain will be suddenly! instantly! blackened!

Ling Zhen was so frightened that she cried, “A-Anything else? QAQ”

Wei Xi suppressed his emotions disguising them with a smile, while the underneath of his eyes filled with real madness: “Yes, there is.”

Stay with me forever and don’t run away.

—————

Wei Xi is sick. He has always known of the misery, paranoia, and possessiveness in his bones.

His little fairy thought she had cured him.

Actually…not really.

After possessing her, his sickness, worsened.

Hi! I'm the (self-proclaimed) MTLer for this novel. I found this while scrolling through jjwxc and wanted to share it with you all.

One thing I like about this web novel is that the FL does not give a damn about the plot and uses her knowledge of the novel to her advantage. She does not try to act like the original vicious female partner, but she also doesn't completely go OOC.

At first, the FL just wants to survive. She tries to stop her villain husband from blackening to change her... more>> fate of being tortured in a hospital like the original host. FL is quite pragmatic.

The FL is not OP.

Spoiler

The FL was a fairy in her original world and doesn't know everything about the human world. However, she uses logic to deduce things (like using the food delivery app to find the address of her house). She gets lost; FL has a bad sense of direction.

[collapse]

And neither is the ML.

Spoiler

ML knows that he is obsessive. He has an inferior complex, which isn't all that surprising because he has grown up in an abusive environment. The ML fears FL will find out about his dark past and tries to hide what he thinks is his ugly side from her. However, love is about accepting people for who they are, and the FL does exactly this when she sees the man behind the persona our ML created.

[collapse]

The ML goes through character development. He is not the type of ML that continuously abuses the FL - if you are looking for a novel with a sadomasochistic relationship, this is not it. The ML gradually learns to express himself and his love for the FL, and FL returns his unconditional love.

The original ML is similar to the novel world's male leads in I Just Want To Freeload on Your Luck and Guide To Raising the Sick Villain. He's not exactly the cold ML type with facial paralysis, but still a dog man.

Spoiler

OriML only starts to get interested in our FL when she doesn't want anything to do with him anymore. After all, she is not the cannon fodder in the book and naturally does not like the original ML.

[collapse]

There is some face slapping, but I'd say the novel's protagonist group had it coming toward them. The novel focuses more on the relationship between the FL and ML than revenge, though.

Does it have a happy ending?

Spoiler

Yes, it has a HE.

[collapse]

I only translated the first chapter, and I can't help but appreciate NU translators even more. \ ( ̄︶ ̄*\)) Hopefully a real translator picks this up? Haha.

Enjoy! <<less

I MTLed this novel.

Why I rated this novel a 2 when clearly every other comment is positive. Firstly I will admit I haven't finished it past chapter 53. I couldn't. The reason why I rate this novel very low is due to a personal preference. The author is not very good at writing internal thoughts and monologues often over simplifying things and using cliche yandere tropes. While we get a little understanding of the ML's darkness here and there initially, what's described is not very detailed but rather skimming the... more>> surface. MC on the other hand is naive in thinking she can just "heal" the ML by being good to him a few times and making him read chicken soup books. This approach while well intended is tremendously misguided and patronizing to what ML is going through. All throughout the whole novel so far, it's all about ML having to cater to MC because he is afraid to lose her and having him change himself for her. Normally that kind of psychological change and work takes many years and in a couple relationship requires hard work on both sides to achieve. This novel simplifies everything as if it's so easy and magical. I've seen a trend of novels treating mental health issues as a modern Beauty and the Beast curse. I can't help but feel up in arms at the message that this might bring to women who might actually be in unhealthy relationships being told that all they have to do is be a sweet little fairy and they can turn their loved ones into "good" people. Maybe there is more character growth but so far as of 53 chapters, MC really does nothing to help ML and still has the naivety to think she's making a difference. Even if in the character growth they show the ML later getting better, I can guarantee you with absolute certainty that reality is not so quick and sweet. I'm unable to suspend my understanding of mental health issues enough to read this and enjoy it. For anyone who has gone through this or knows friends who have been partners to people with mental health issues, you know what I mean. This isn't real. It's just a joke. A joke I don't wish to read.

If mental health issues as a topic doesn't trigger you and you expect no realism in a sweet fluffy modern twist on Beauty and the Beast type novels, go ahead and read this. Maybe you'll find it sweet and sugary. Don't look to this novel as a guidance for a good or realistic relationship. Just because the girl states her boundaries and the ML listens to it does not a working relationship make. There's so much going wrong here. The plot with the fairy background is barely stated. While I haven't read to the end, my guess is it'll come back at the end to tie this story up. That part would have been interesting but I am personally just touchy about how these romantic novels mishandle mental health issues hence my gripe.

One thing that is present in these kinda transmigrate into a novel books is the idea of MC treating the whole world like NPCs. Even the way she treats the ML is like an NPC that she sets herself some tasks to complete to help "heal" him. While it allows for some comedic effect and funny moments, the reality is someone going into a world treating people as not human. This further grated on my nerves because how can MC want to "heal" ML when she doesn't even see his humanity. Because of her mindset, all interactions so far seem contrived and vapid. While this is a common transmigration trope, it's one that I don't enjoy. It's like MC treats the world as an otome game in which they need to select the right speech option to make a difference. It's really demeaning and just something I dislike from the genre itself when it's not handled well. Commenters have mentioned that MC will change later which is a good thing though.

If you love sweet girl magically saves depressing villain novels that make no psychological sense but has lots of fluff and sugar, read this. However there are many novels that deal with this kind of topic better even among CN web novels. Don't let me stop you from reading it. This novel just isn't for me. <<less

I found it kind of boring and got tired of waiting for something interesting to happen.

Mainly I've stopped reading because I hate some of the implications the author makes about beauty, like how the FL is super beautiful from becoming whiter from her fairy powers instead of her darker skin before. I know it can be considered attractive to be pale, but it was still unsettling to see how the author emphasized that she was white as a slate and the male lead was super hot because he was white... more>> as chalk. <<less

A note on the TLer which won't affect my review but I think should be said for other people who want to read their provided chapters:

Spoiler

The TLer's site is so full of ads that I ended up just MTLing it myself. Also, they seem to do that thing where TLers chop up chapters so c1~3 is actually just c1 in the raw, etc. I don't think chopping up chapters is bad, but I do think it's bad when TLers 1. Don't let the readers know, and 2. Profit off of it by having 5 or more ads in each chopped up chapter.

[collapse]

My review is honestly just a checklist of bad things. The MTL is very difficult to get through, but I can get the gist of the story.

  • The FL is a mess as a character. She's a go getter and firm as a rock to others, and she's very proactive, but she acts like a scared innocent (squeaky) mouse towards the ML. The OMCs are pretty bland and cliche. It is a little interesting to see the FL and ML's relationship in the first few chapters, if only because their dynamic at the start is funny.
  • All main characters (OMCs and MCs) have to have their attractiveness constantly pointed out in the narration. ML can't just be a cold but capable boss, he has to be a cold but capable boss that everyone has the hots for. It makes more sense for the FL since she did go from not good looking to suddenly pretty, but it's exagerrated way too much, especially when the author describes honestly bland outfits but then praises it as so beautiful because she's wearing it.
  • As an extension of the previous issue, the dogblood/confrontation scenes are also very disappointing and frustrating because the FL usually gives honestly very bland or even bad responses that still gets praised to heaven by the author for being so smart and witty. At one point she gives a very childish response to an actually reasonable critic of her and the rest of the chapter goes on and on about how mature and intelligent her response was.
  • There's a flamboyant male side character who gets chosen as FL's assistant because he's "interesting" and "probably gay so he's not a threat to ML".
  • The midway point where ML cracks and FL runs away was resolved so poorly and unsatisfyingly. It's a showcase of everything I don't like about the FL.
I eventually got so fed up with it that I dropped at c60. If you can ignore or get used to everything, it's a decent enough read. It's not offensively horrible and has moments of being interesting. But I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. <<less

I tried. Really. I can't finish this because the author described the FL so much. She's perfect okay because she's a f*cking fairy. But wtf why do you have to write every time? And the way ML just acted possessive and such is a big cringe. If I read this back in 2019, I would enjoy this but stop portraying yandere, possessive ML just like that. Can someone just do it right? It feels half-baked.

Some parts dragged a bit, but overall, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this story and it's characters.

The FL comes from the Immortal Fairy World and gets transmigrated into a Cannon Fodder character. Because of how fairies are born and live, they don't really understand the emotional surges of humans. Stuck in an immortal world, everything is always the same day after day.

In the novel, the FL gets transmigrated into a character that gets imprisoned, tortured, and eventually dies because of her villainous husband. So throughout the story,... more>> she tries to keep her contract husband from blackening and becoming villainous.

I like that the characters aren't all about fluff, naiveté, and romance. The FL doesn't understand romance or love, nor does she quite understand the world. However, she is far from s*upid. She's able to understand things on her own, and reach her own goals through her own efforts. Nor is she like the stereotypical FL who will fall for the oppressive domineering president due to stockholm syndrome or force.

The ML has a very heavy past. Is the abuse he and his mother heredity? Can he change?

I think what I really enjoyed about this story the most was the FL's pragmatic way in dealing with the potential violence. Afterall, she had already read the novel's ending, so it's not surprising that anyone in her character role would be frightened. And yet she really tries to work with the ML to avoid the blackening, and confront his potential abusive actions headon without running away. I've never been so impressed with such a strong female character that wasn't like some hidden action hero before. The FL doesn't really have magic, nor does she have any magical skills other than a really good talent at dancing. Yet, she's so emotionally strong, it's quite amazing.

It was amusing that she ended up forcing the ML to change all the masculine decorations in his room to cute pink patterns.

I rated it 4 stars, because I really enjoyed reading about the FL & ML characters. The FL for her inner strength and pragmatism to go for what she wants, and the ML for balancing his possessiveness, hair trigger temper, and his goal to acquiescence to the FL's demand to work together peacefully. <<less

I started the novel at a time when I was obsessed with reading Chinese web and light novels, I was reading a lot of novels at the same time along with this one.

So I kinda got bored midway and focused at other novels, I came back again and finished the last 20 chapters I had left.

And oh boy I loved it, those 20 last chapters were full of sweetness and fluff, I enjoyed their moments together, I also loved how the ML got from that dark and cold person to... more>> be such a cute romantic hubby.

This book would've gotten a 5 if there wasn't some boring chapters in the middle, if the writer made finished it in 70 chapters, it would've been absolutely my favorite.

I know some people had given up on it in the early chapters but the sweet ending will make it up for all the boring events that made you stop reading.

So if you want an Innocent FL and a ML with a painful past, alongside a ton of romance, this is YOURS. <<less

To be honest I nearly dropped this novel because the MC wasn't my type. I kept reading because of the male yandere lead... And thank God I kept reading because it was worth it.

The background characters are really background characters and they don't appear much. MC and ML fight quite a bit but that's because of ML's nature and him not being strong enough to overcome his mental hurdle and open up about his past.

ML actually has the largest character development in the entire story, while MC found the meaning... more>> of life.

Fully recommend, I found the story a bit bland... probably because the author isn't a sad*st and they didn't satisfy my M genes... But there's some tears at the end so it's worth it.

WARNING: There's no large plot twist and no intense drama and dog-blood; I felt like this story is quite focus on romance and ML changing his mentality.

PS. As the original translator said due to them only translating one chapter there might be some plots or emotional text missing... If someone properly picks this up I'll go back to reread because I feel like this novel might have more depth than it's shown through MTL. <<less

I MTL this so some part of the story was quite vague but for me, if you prefer for a fluffy at the same time quite yadere-ish this story is for you. It's good read to passed time.

It's not necessarily that dark but I think there were some parts of it were. It's a slow burn romance I guess? I mean it takes time before they realized their love for each other and to become a better person for each other. The plot was so-so, not too complicated and scene... more>> were place in the right sequence of the story. The conflict weren't over lapping each other.

In conclusion, if you don't want something mixed of aggressive-passive kind of story then don't read. But if you want something fluffy, sweet but kinda yadere-ish then this is good for you.

  • P.S. I really don't know how many stars I should give so I just settle for 5 stars

I’ve rated this 4/5 stars. If I could really rate it accurately, I’d likely rate it 4.1. Simply put, the story dragged on too long on unimportant things (i.e. Dancing) but the romance was cute.

ML realized he liked her, she didn’t notice for awhile. Later on she likes him back. They’re a cute couple.
Spoiler

Even his blackening moments are cute because he knows when he’s wrong and reflects on it but he truly loves her.

[collapse]

Certain cannon fodders are wrapped up too neatly or quickly for there to be real satisfaction as a reader.

MC’s naïveté really gets on my nerves at times. She can read and study when it came to anger management and cooking but not her emotions regarding ML or physical affection? Though it doesn’t ruin the story, it feels weird. As if MC is 16 and naïve while ML is a creepy older man.

Spoiler

Basically, the romance is the best part. It’s gradual and realistic in a sense. Very cute. I wish MC continued to be an actress but dancing became the main thing. I’m no dancer and reading about her ‘perfect’ form and techniques was very repetitive.

Like, that’s my fault for not noticing the dancers tag but still T.T. We get it, she’s OP in beauty and dance.

I didn’t like the ML’s father coming in so suddenly when there was no hint of him coming at all. No foreshadowing. Just, oops here’s an old man with a scar. Here’s him harassing the main characters. Now he’s in jail. His conflict was wrapped up too swiftly.

The final conflict regarding their separation was really sad but also wrapped up quickly??? I think the author has a habit of introducing things without intending to keep them/it relevant for too long because they don’t know how to create a decent plot arc with conflict, characters, and resolution. ML and MC are too OP in their own regards.

[collapse]

Anyway, the ending was sweet. Don’t pick this up if you’re in for a quick read. I mtl’ed it and the story took me a few days because at certain points I would find it hard to continue since it became stale.

Spoiler

The last chapter made me really happy~ Their wedding was so cute! Though I wished there were more extras on their child (children?), it was still satisfying

[collapse]

I wouldn’t recommend MTL’ing since stuff gets lost in translation. Overall, a decent read.

the translation is hard to understand, the ML has no personality, the FL has no personality, and overall the story feels bland, rushed, and has no real meaning or substance. The way the FL acts is too unbelievable. Right after transmigration she begins fawning all over the ML, and he just accepts it without much thought. There’s just something lacking in the story and the pacing isn’t quite right.

I was torn what kind of rating to give this novel.

I MTL-d this and it was quite easy to understand. I feel like plot development could have been better - pacing varied from slow to quite abrupt which got disconcerting at times.

I did enjoy that the characters were extremely flawed. Aside from a few villains (Ori!MC's sister, novel FL's lackeys) who were two-dimensional, but I think the other side characters were a bit more fleshed out than usual.

There was character growth for both MCs and that was ok to see.... more>> I still don't think their relationship is very healthy and it did end at a point where they were slowly improving, so maybe it is a happy ending?

TL;DR: Personal preference - not my type of romance. Writing could be better. I do like flawed characters which pulled up the rating. <<less

How should I put this? It's not bad but not my favorite. The FL being a real fairy was an unexpected surprise but I was also disappointed because of that because aside from being a little fairy, she's really not that powerful, nor does she have any super powers or something. She can be easily frightened and nervous. The ML also didn't gave me a good first impression. He's a yandere through and through. Paranoid, obsessive, possessive, and easily jealous. However, what I quite liked was how the two of... more>> them gradually changed. It's not a sudden change, but step by step. Both of them are flawed but beautiful. One is like sunshine while one is like darkness. One is an untainted white while the other is the unfathomable black. But they complement each other well. They accepted each other and although the FL isn't an OP fairy, she's likeable because she's kind.
This story is definitely not lighthearted, but it's a story of healing and changing to be a better person. Although the story mainly focuses on the main leads, I guess it's fine. The story is only long enough for them. The OG main leads, well, their ending wasn't mentioned but whatever.
Anyway, I'm someone whose enthusiasm for a novel sometimes depends on the translation quality. However, I managed to finish this by reading the MTLed version, therefore, although I'm not that enthusiastic, it's still a surprise that I managed to finish it. Overall, it's quite a good story. 7/10. <<less

3.8 stars. Didn't love it (MC), didn't hate it (ML). MC a little too weepy, a little too white lotus, a little too mary Sue for my taste but I can't hate her for being what the author wanted for the ML. Overall, the story was okey.

The novel was all about the perspective of the Female lead, so we readers can't see what the thought of the Male lead. It would be nice if we can see the thought of the Male lead in the last chapter of the extra story.

The Author created the character of Female lead was a fairy that don't have normal ways human emotions and thingking. So I think it's was understandable that the Female lead was a blank of paper.

For me, the Male lead character was good.

Ermmm... Simple novel aside, this novel has overdramatic Chinese beauty standard (I'd run away if I see people with porcelain-white or chalk-white skin....), sudden subplots like many reviewers noticed, a half-baked yandere ML, and a cringe fairy who somehow obtained the human world's books to transmigrate into. It's kinda unreasonable, I think, because it's implied that the MC often visited the mortal world to experience the entertainment (and thus buying books that has transmigration trap to people or supernatural beings with the same name lol) so why the heck did... more>> MC was unable to go back if she could bring human books to her realm?

In my honest opinion, this novel is just as mid as The Last Cat in the Universe. They even had the same theme, the MCs were some kind of dense supernatural beings, the MCs has the same goal, and the MLs were half-baked yandere.

Also, no offense to people who liked this story, but I do agree with people who said that this one's boring. I don't know why but the authors always tried too hard to make naive MCs endearing and cute to the readers but it backfired so badly. And as far as I know, supernatural beings in Chinese mythology aren't depicted as naive or dense virg*ns so it's kinda off-kilter to read. The cringe factor was too high to endure. <<less

The first 5-7 chapters are written so badly, but it gets better. Endure the first couple of chapters. It gets a little frustrating in the middle part (mainly because of MC), but I persevered and I'm glad I read it to the end.

The villains of the story are poorly written. They don't have any character growth and just pops out of the story for plot convenience. They don't hold much importance. Spoiler

This novel is recommended to read if you are new, that is, if you have just started reading Chinese novels. Why? Well, the plot is attractive, but I have already read several novels with similar characters, I must say that I hate Ling Zhen (Fl) most of the novel, I understand that the author wanted a very pure character, but tailor-made As your relationship with Wei xi progresses more, I find it too s*upid, an example of this is your first discussion.
I personally do not agree with the attitude that Wei Xi takes, she behaves very violent towards her in the first discussion, but I think Ling Zhen could have handled it better, and it made me very infuriating how she only kept quiet when reality could try to convince Wei Xi to calm him down, in other words a total drama, then there is the 2nd discussion, in which I understand why Wei Xi was out of place, maybe in the first discussion forgive the purity or Ling zhen's s*upidity, but in the 2nd fight, there is no excuse, although the first fight was because she was leaving, Ling Zhen realizes this and instead of reassuring Wei Xi, he brings up the subject of Accidentally, but things would not have gone far if she had made things clear with wei xi, because by then she already knew about the instability of wei xi, she asks weixi a lot, a lot to change, but in a relationship stable or for it to work, both parties must change, it is unfair to me sometimes, how wei xi does everything for her and she does not take it as something important, but as a redemption of him to become a good person

That as for the bad
Now comes the good news

this novel has one of the best endings I have read, I liked the final chapters a lot, usually the authors (not the translators, this is in charge of bringing us this magnificent story for us to read and I appreciate it a lot their work) tend to forget or leave aside the transmigration of the characters, or else they mention characters and then forget about them, the same thing happens here, but at least the author gives me a little information about what happened to those characters
Like being Wen Zenchu, who came from the same place as Ling Zhen, I especially liked that he will not fall in love with Fl, Chinese authors tend to make characters like that fall in love with the main protagonists and then leave them alone because of course, they do not remain with the main characters, and hopefully I could put this comment to the original author and tell him to make a book about Wen Zenchu, because he is a character with whom you love and want to read about what happened to him with the decisions I make, a character with a lot of potential.
Although I said that Ling zhen made most of the novel unbearable, in the end I liked how she matures, when she realizes that she is in love with Wei Xi, she only changes for him, and that is when she gives that security to him. Wei xi, I liked its tender parts to the last, and its hot parts, very good prose from the author xd

That would be all I would say about this novel, I give it 4 stars for the end of it, and I would download it from it, it was nice to read. <<less
