When she inexplicably came into this world, the novel’s supporting male lead had yet to become the future boss of the underworld who could overturn the heavens. For now, the supporting male lead is only a frail boy, a defenseless little chick in a world where the plot of the novel remains unfinished. Meanwhile, Lin Xin became the standard passerby who only wished to stay away from the budding plot.

I'd rate this a 3.5 if I could. It's mostly a dramatic and interesting spin on transmigrating-into-a-novel, but it loses major points for the ending, which is very abrupt, as others have commented. MC, ML and secondary ML are the only ones with really developed personalities. Everyone else is mostly there to move the plot along.

Based on the original premise of the novel (the MC being a petty and critical fan) I would have thought the ending would at least wrap up with some self-aware reflection on the part of... more>> the MC, but it didn't.

Most of the story is decently constructed with overarching plotlines that are laid out from the beginning. It's a short read with good pacing and dramatic twists and turns. <<less

the FL is extremely idiotic and hateful lmao i've never hated a female lead this much, it's a feat, really. Author branded her as smart. Where la. I can only see idiocy after idiocy. It's fine if she's s*upid but she just had to be mean too, like, pick a struggle damn

You know what I hate? When a MC thinks everyone is a villain because a novel told her that they were, and even when the so-called "villain" is an abused child. It was practically painful reading from the perspective of the FL, because she sees everything in black&white and with no emotional intelligence.

In the last part of the story she keeps asking herself why the men loved the original FL, but me as a reader is also asking the same question regarding her???? You could replace her with any random... more>> normal girl and get a better love story than this. The only thing she did right was how she handled the abuser (but let's not ignore the fact that she dragged that situation for way too long). Even though I didn't enjoy the story that much, but I still have to give credit to the amazing translator! Great work!! <<less

the translater did a good job. it's a pity the female lead is so dumb tho. she was an adult before but her eq and intelligence are very low. she doesn't want to be someone's friend because in the novel they turn out to be a villain. understandable but she's just a child and she doesn't even have any negative feelings towards you yet. FL also treats situations rly badly, why tf would she mention stuff like "didn't your mother taught you to..." to the ML when hes an orphan????... more>> ive only just read to the part where there's smth suspicious about the dean and the FL was like "oh wtv I'm sure its nothing and I'm overthinking it", you are in a novel, nothing is as simple as you think it is. she legit angered a teen and she's wondering why he wants to beat herself up when she smirked at him when she successfully ran away?? shes hopelessly bad at doing.. everything lol. im dropping this bc looking at other peoples' reviews made me know that FL isn't getting better anytime soon. <<less

I stuck with it. But this novel is crazy. It keeps you thinking that there's some actual quality in it and then slowly you realize that it was actually just madness all along.

Don't get me wrong. I love a domineering/possessive/obsessive ML but these characters have no redeeming quality to them. They're just crazy for no reason at all.

Honestly, I wish I never read it or stuck with this novel for as long as I did. It wasn't worth it. I lasted till 162/168 chapters before I finally realized that I didn't care how it ended, I just wanted it to stop. <<less

i rarely comment directly, but this story, I just, could not stay silent.

btw read this from an mtl perspective so no comment on translations

perhaps it comes from the contrast of reading light-hearted, easy face slapping novels before this but this is an edgy, dark novel with too many plot points and too little, I guess, filler. I find mc/ML interactions to be lacking for me to care about them being together beyond some angst which was I suppose, to create some friction

Spoiler

(or some more insecurity for the ML to 'act out' ala become the overlord he was meant to be)

[collapse]

looooong whole plot ish (big spoil)

Spoiler

MC transmigrates twice: once into plot!verse cannon fodder, dies, then plot!verse her, who... exists, but because of tech limitations, she didnt realize existed.

cannon fodder her is in the orphanage with other characters, including ML. when she discovers the dean is a pedo who abuses ML, she con... fronts him. yeah, , , big oof. while side chara escapes into town, she decides she won't leave without ML, and goes back. plot!ML is a rich kid who comes to adopt a playmate. MC takes this chance to frame the dean to be mol*sting her, and he gets arrested. (also she cuts his xxxx off, yeah.)

she decides to stay at the orphanage because she's not going to leave ML behind, and plot!ML is a possessive bit*h who doesn't want to take two kids.

time... skip? after orphanage situation improves MC and ML get adopted by this one dude who wants to get a pair of kids to act as siblings after his own kids perished, causing his wife to go insane.

(me: ok... pseudo in*est... read this before...)

as they go to school, MC decides to go ahead of the curve, predicting stonks and getting rich, setting up companies under ML's name in hopes of it helping him not die if plot occurs (ie business battle against plot!ML). does not tell ML. also meets plot!ML at this point, possessive b*tch, and his obsession with him starts to grow.

>while this is ok, she creates, whatsapp... and fruit ninja apps. she also dies (creating a 10 year timeskip) so I'm here wondering who actually managed those companies because story named ONE programmer, so it sounded like it was a two person company

ML has his own storyline where he meets side chara who escaped orphanage and finds out that he's weak, and cannot protect MC from danger (plot!ML) or pain (when MC tries to find her parents in this universe, but fails). also MC still sees him as a son.

at this point the develop, and it comes to a head when MC finds out he's been mixing with the wrong crowd, and ML wants MC to see him as a love interest. they fight, and while MC chases after ML, finding out he's getting targeted by a rival gang, she gets stabbed.

SHE DIES. at this point I will point out MC has noted her body is stuck at the age she transmigrated, 12, does not grow. it's been like, idk, 3 yrs since.

TIMESKIP: MC wakes up like, 10 yrs later, in her own body. turns out she did exist in this universe, but it's different, she's got a twin brother, and since she's sickly, her parents retired from their jobs to care for her, so she failed to find them.

>which is still kinda bullshit, even when staff didn't work there, there would still be records of them HAVING worked there. they were uni professors. yeah they taught econs and stuff so I'm good with her knowing this, but business??? management??? bruh.

i think at some point before she got stabbed, she started having feelings for ML, but when she sees him, (her bro tries matchmaking) she wants NOTHING to do with him. wants him to live his life, I guess. she wants to get out of this plot. maybe she wants to protect her bleeding heart. author doesn't say, so i'll never know.

when she next sees ML, she's on a blind date, and he's on a date with plot!FL. here's the thing, she looks like the grown up ver of cannon fodder MC. yep, that's how we fit into plot!storyline.

somehow, ML starts liking MC, also being able to tell that it's HER, which, sweet, but he also sabotages her future blind dates, climbs into her room to plant a camera over her bed, and repeatedly comes back after she's told him she wants nothing to do with him, so, not so sweet. he also buys the house next to theirs, actively monitoring her room, which she finds out, pretending to want to kiss her blood related brother (a joke which she doesn't really clear up and we get future jokes where he tries to persuade her it's wrong lmao) and her brother getting called away immediately.

while ML chases MC, plot!ML comes back, and we find plot!FL has been with him, again, because SHE LOOKS LIKE GROWN UP VER OF CANNON FODDER MC. also he hates ML because ML was MC's cause of death. so when ML starts paying attention to MC, and they start getting together (MC agrees to marry ML I think), plot!ML later realizes it's because, it's MC... and then kidnaps her to marry her and hide her away on a deserted island.

ofc ML rescues her, after like, half a month. and at this point sickly MC has started to exercise more in anticipation, which building a somewhat existing acquaintanceship with plot!ML.

>it is at this point I realize I wouldn't mind MC/plot!ML because they are both kinda a**holes and have somewhat "holier than thou" attitudes and the only reason I have for shipping MC/ML is that man, ML needs love, and MC seems to be the only one who understands his childhood trauma. except, codependency never stopped getting worse, and all the side characters surrounding ML are selfish a**holes anyway.

while ML rescues MC, plot!ML gets betrayed by his butler, who... kidnaps MC away because he's pedo dean's uncle and he's also like, a pedo, but for his nephew so he wants to get ML to see him. there's a confrontation and ML, kinda faces his fears? unsure about what that is supposed to signify, tbh. maybe the "fight back against your abusers" but also, it's not that simple? to do that? was this a character growth moment???

anyway pedo dean goes nuts and pedo uncle is strapped with explosives and decides to blow the house? they're in to kingdom come: MC gets surgery while ML and plot!ML (who had a temp truce to find MC) have a talk, and plot!ML gives up his obsession because he didn't recognize her after being able to meet her several times, while ML did, after meeting twice. this clearly makes him vastly superior in the name of true love, so plot!ML can only tear up the marriage cert he forced MC into.

i think it ends in a marriage? my brain literally turned off after plot!ML did a 180 and made me like him, who had character growth in a somewhat positive direction. uh, what happened to plot!FL? um, she was a money hungry bit*h and like, didn't meet a good end. sorry man it's 3am rn and this story could not... leave my head.

[collapse]

all in all I found this to be way to short for the amount it wanted to tell (og is like 6o chapters). I don't hate that it's short, any longer and I would've dropped it from the headaches I was getting from whiplash. uhhhh, it just wasn't a good combo in any way. supporting characters felt like they had the complexity of 2d cutout, while humanly selfish, didn't have any other main traits.

Spoiler

i only really like MC's brother, but that's because he was just, separated from the plot and just, an outsider tbh

[collapse]

i see these 5 star reviews and maybe the mtl made the words too cut and dry for my liking. or maybe the translator is just such an awesome person, who brought life and depth to the story that I missed out on, the subtle flick of a character's eye, the stuttering of a villain's motivation. good for you. but eh, consider this a palette cleanser, an ice bath, a shock to the system.

and then go read "I Raised A Sick And Weak Prince", where MC thinks she's playing a game, but the character is actually real, and also develops feelings for her. the thing is, she's seen him as a son, and he decides to launch a counterattack and make her see him as a love interest. out of the blue rec, but it's palace intrigue, game elements, and maybe it's because both titles allude to raising the male lead /shrug <<less

Welp, another novel I had tolerated so much in reading just for the sake of getting to the end. I feel like this novel is a poor attempt of a very young (probably a child not even reached puberty) author's first ever novel. It is that bad. The FL is really comfusing. The ML is not bad tho. ... more>>
Spoiler

The author wrote she loves ML and then she wanted to hit him beat him up and scolded him for being weak when she didn't even bother the bully who slapped her face. She wanted to stay away from ML (like typical novelas of FL trying to stay away and ML chasing her) yet she got swayyed by a f*cking apple. Don't forget that she is supposed to be a 28 year old woman who transmigrated. The author wanted to portray a FL who has greed for food, witty and I dependent woman, but failed in every way. There are great glutton FLs. "Taking my hand, Dragging you Away" FL for example. This novel FL is like, I will eat all that poor kid's delicious food which was exchanged with his r@pe while scolding him to stay far from me because he is dirty. Yayy... not. And that 28 yo woman in child body wanted to confront the bad guy with no plan and by just saying "look, I know what you did, I will tell to police". Sis, what you should do is, either escape with that fatty and go to the police instead of baring your fangs when you don't even have a tooth. The author is so childish that he kept assuring the readers she is an adult woman by saying " (the bad guy/ the adopted father/any other character) looked into her eyes and shuddered, she is a child but she has an aura of a 20 year old" I mean, there are children with old souls and even when someone noticed the child is not normal, they would think if the child is mature like an adult, but they wouldn't specifically think they looked "20 year old", like, how do you even differentiate between a 20 year old or 30 year old or even 18 year old from just the eyes 😂 yet the author just mentioning this. And the author next wanted to potray a dependent FL raising ML by first saying FL is ready to do anything and accept the adoption for ML's heart surgery, yet she couldn't call the adopted mother as Mom. Author wanted to write a fragile part of FL but look sis, she been orphaned for many years in her past life too, and isn't her resolve too weak? She could have called her mom, and didn't take it to heart at all (and other people knowing that she didn't), it would be much better. Then she said she cared for ML si much yet never be there for him, even when she saw ML's most royal comrade, she told him to stay far from him. She wanted to stay away from all the main characters so that the fate or timeline doesn't change much, I get it but she wanted the ML's fate to change at the same time? What is she even trying to achieve? Then she got so disappointed that ML is getting to the direction of his original fate, I mean sis, you liked him, the biggest Mafia boss when you read the novel, and then you find out being Mafia boss isn't just rainbows and cupcakes and then proceed to abandon him? Then she reborn again, and obsess with ML. And then she wanted to stay far away from everyone and doesn't want anyone to know her true identity, AGAIN. Yet, she got so jealous that the new FL looked so much like her and got all the attention of both MLs. Sis, you psucho or what? This is the novel I can make do with if that FL finally dropped dead for real. She been confusing from beginning to end. The nearer the end, the chaotic it is. Like suddenly in coma for weeks and saw ML taking care of her and decided to forgive him. You should have just stopped breathing. Even An An you think as a villainess isn't as annoying as you. And then this repeated Telenovella plot of getting kidnapped came. I don't even know how to describe her at that point. XT married her by force but she seemed too peaceful. She could have told the kind mom (who had helped her in her past life) that she was forced and r@ped by XT and made a mess of his life. She wants ML to rescue her (yet she didn't think of ways and just hoping, well, she was like that when she was young too, trying to achieve something without plans so) or to escape herself (why too peaceful then? I don't see other than she walking). I mean, she could have lied to XT that she has an ability to die and reborn again and again she she can just die in this body and reborn to go back to ML and pretend to die if she didn't have her way. This FL contract herself so much that one moment she knows she is weak, then the next moment she fought and then found out she was weak AF, like author, please decide on one thing and stick to it, PLEASE.

[collapse]
Tbh, I think ML is either masochist or has developed some kind of Stockholm syndrome to FL, like he is obsessed with someone who hated him when he was weak, hated him when he tried to get stronger, used him whenever she needed, and wanted him to become a barbie doll with all the characteristics and qualities she wanted. One tiny mistake and you are thrown away like tr*sh. All in all, the novel just doesn't make sense. I saw other people saying this novel gets low stars because they weren't prepared for dark themes and drepressing plots, but no, we just weren't prepared for IDIOTIC FEMALE LEAD WHOESE ONLY GREAT POINT IS THAT SHE CAN NEVER DIE. Overall, I don't even understand why this novel would get 3 star, much less 5 stars, but hey, you do you. I respect your taste but this novel will go straight to my garbage list. <<less

The ML's circumstances just makes me want to cry, jump over their universe and give him a hug. I can't even imagine how you can go through all that and not want to commit *****. The MC really helped him get through everything and to start to live life and avoid getting into trouble.

When it comes to MC's attitude to supposed villainess, for me, even if MC decides to be nice to her, it doesn't really guarantee that the villainess will like the MC (who transmigrated the second time). Yeah,... more>> she might like Lin Xin but I don't think she will recognize her when she is Lin Shuxin. And even though the MC was cold to the villainess, the villainess still treated her as a friend in the story. Yet, when MC died and transmigrated for the second time, she still acted like a "villainess" to the supposed FL and towards MC who is living in a different a body. So, that is pretty much inevitable in my opinion.

Unless the situation with the Dean happened differently, then it is possible that those chain of events would not have led to MC dying. But again, maybe not.

The 2nd ML is just nuts. But I like that he used his brain at the end though.

There were some things that I find exaggerated or too unrealistic. But all in all, this novel is really great. <<less

The translation was flawless and, literally, the only redeeming part of this story.

This female lead is genuinely an awful person. It's hard to root for her because she is so cruel. She never faces any backlash for her actions because she's protected by the protagonist halo, all the while doing these awful things and actively making suffering 10x worse for everyone in the story. The author tries so hard to make her look like a cool and calculative 28-year-old transmigrated woman but the reality is that she's, excuse my language,... more>> a plain old b*tch. Not even the fun kind like Chanel Oberlin from Scream Queens, but well and truly a terrible person— who isn't even funny or charming.
There are worse female leads but, good god, the story makes it hard to root for the main protagonist. <<less

I actually quite liked this one. I think the rating is quite low for this because the tags and summary doesnt really prepare the readers for how dark this novel is. From the cute animal cover art, I was expecting a little bit of insinuated child abuse and then fluffy child rearing like some other stories. That's NOT what this is so beware. It's full of child physical and s*xual abuse, s*x trafficking, stalking, attempted r*pe, etc. ect. etc. Most characters, main or secondary, even characters who show up briefly... more>> have some level of mental disorders. This is more like a thriller than a romance so under that perspective, it was a good read. Or maybe I'm just as crazy as some of the characters... <<less

And knowing the brain dead FL will accept in sickening the pity I felt for the ML disappeared as soon as he took the action. I have only read a few chapters, but couldn't continue it, due to the heroine. She knows about the tragedy yet to happen, still insist on turning her back on the victims, she also has bunch of logical reasons for doing it. She is nothing but a accomplice for the crime. Thank you so much for the complete translation tlers!!

I got an account just to review how frustrating the first chapters of this novel was for me. I was looking forward to reading a completely translated novel but I am sadly disappointed.

I read other's reviews and many said that MC's IQ is high but her EQ is low. So why does this high IQ allow her a 28 year old who transmigrates into a child's body to not grasp the fact that SHE'S IN A CHILD'S BODY.

I feel like... more>> every chapter so far it's her reminding herself I'm a kid now I don't have my previously amazing black belt karate skilled, tall 1.5 metre body. You'd think an avid reader like she's described as, would understand a little. I don't know about you but when I read things I READ and actually gain knowledge? Be it of how people interact with each other or a better understanding of the emotional feelings that exist in people.

Also can I just say how people with depression are more likely to be empathetic and understand others emotions better so I guess I just hate the MC's character that doesn't make sense.

It frustrates me that I can't get one step further into this novel because of how infuriating this MC is... She just doesn't make sense to me, she thinks one thing then she does the complete opposite.

Spoiler

Like for example, she's worried about the second male lead and realises that the Dean is a pedo for him right?? And she's constantly like "He's a good person just s*upidly cowardly, imma push him away". Next minute she says "stop following me!" But oh look at that, the second male lead is still here?? I wonder whyyy? IQ and common sense of a 28yr old where??? She apparently understands that the novel she read had no common sense but now she doesn't have any understanding of what common sense is??

Also when she fights against Zhao Qiang the "bully" in the orphanage, she is constantly telling herself she doesn't need to react to his threats cus he's a kid and she's an adult, but then smirks at him and fights him cus he "started it first"?? Apparently she experienced University but her actions are all based on when she was a big tyrant and not cus she studied anything or experienced adult life or whatever.

[collapse]

All in all too many contradictions and nonsense that doesn't make sense.
Spoiler

One minute Wu An An's sister didn't exist in the novel, next minute MC remembers the sister existed in the story and betrayed Wu An An.

[collapse]

I don't know how I got all of this from the first few chapters but I did and it frustrates me very much so I will not come back here again, just warning you guys to not read if you dislike illogical plot holes. <<less

I usually only write a review if I really hate something but I was put off from reading this the first time I came across it because of all the bad reviews so I felt the need to write a review.

This is not the best novel ever. It is realistic though and that's a lot more than you usually get from this sort of novel.

I love the main. I don't agree with a lot of her opinions but god bless, she has opinions! Opinions that make sense with her personality... more>> too. Unlike some of the other reviewers I do feel like she acts her actual age. That being said you can tell that she has low EQ which makes senses considering that's she's never had any friends. In that sense she makes odd decisions and has a hard time compromising and trying to see things from another perspective.

Spoiler

For example calling people weak when they don't stand up for themselves. When she gets in a fight and Wu Anan doesn't help her, she decides to distance herself despite rationally knowing that it's not odd that Wu Anan didn't want to get involved. Not realizing that the ML likes her. Underestimating the the reaction of the Dean when she confronts him about his s*xual abuse. Having a low opinion of people who commit su*cide. It all plays into that low EQ.

[collapse]

Her IQ on the other hand reads to be above average. That's not something that's just told either (though it is also said) but there's several instances where she notices things and makes connections that other people don't.

Spoiler

Realizing that's she being poisoned, plotting against the dean, making the connection of what Aunt Hui had done for her son, noticing the person following the ML,... Her intelligence isn't all tell and no show. We can spot it multiple times throughout the story.

[collapse]

Honestly for me the main gets 5/5. She feels like an actual person which includes making mistakes despite her intelligence. Novels often make the mistake of having a main whose IQ and EQ are equal when in reality it rarely is. She's not perfect but she has a fighter's attitude and I like it.

As for the ML... I have a hard time following his radical switches in personality. I won't argue that they don't make sense, because they kind of do. I just wish that that the changes could have been more subtle and going over a longer time. Considering the actual length of the novel I do understand why it was made to be this way but it is something that can rub you wrong. Like I said though, the changes do make sense. The ML's personality really reflects the trauma he has been through and it's not something that's just shrugged off like it never happened. I'd describe his personality as bitter because of his trauma since no one helped him aside from the main. To her he's sweet and possessive. There's a kill or be killed mentality present in him that makes him do some truly awful things because he wants to possess enough power to protect the main.

I'd give him a 4/5.

The supporting ML has a personality which is the pretty stereotypic CEO type except with slightly more sadistic tendencies as well as some actual respect for the main. I know, rare as f*ck in CEO types. He doesn't get enough screen time to truly showcase a proper personality but I definitely don't hate him.

3/5 for the supporting ML

As for the supporting cast I can only express my disappointment. There's some wasted opportunities there. For sure there's character development. Except it all happens off screen. In time skips. Like I said, wasted opportunities. It's a shame because I definitely would have liked to see more of the other two children who were in the orphanage as well as the main's deskmate in school. Also maybe an actual foreshadowing of the villain in the story instead of directly skipping to him holding a knife to the main's neck.

So 2/5 there.

As for the plot, I personally liked the orphanage part mostly because it had the highest stakes. Afterwards things were kind of Slice of life with the occasional violent interruption.
Spoiler

I like that the main transmigrates multiple times.

So 3.5/5 there. <<less

It is really good decision to read this despite the ratings and comments. This is a good novel. It is quite unique bc there are certain things that MC can't change despite being transmigrated. It is a roller coaster ride reading this. There are some flaws for each characters but it is tolerable and it made them more human.

I really like Lin Xin (MC)... she really worked hard to help the ML despite being hesitant at first. Later on, she made sure that ML will get a better future. Despite... more>> initially being powerless, her willpower and wiseness helped them survived various obstacles. MC's emotions as transmigrator were really realistic compared to other novels.

To Lin Xiyun (ML), our MC is his world and everything. He is a flawed character who is not as innocent as the MC thought. A certain incident forced them apart but I'm glad that ML was able to recognized our MC immediately.

Spoiler

MC was transmigrated in before the novel happened (prequel) so the original plot of the story is kinda unstoppable no matter what she did. Plus, it was later revealed that her presence is the catalyst and reason why ML who was the original 2nd lead and Xiao Tian (Original ML) were attracted to the Ham Keman (Original FL) on the novel.

[collapse]

I initially wanted to drop this when a certain plot twist and the direction of novel was changed in chp 106... thankfully, I didn't drop bc I came to like this and the story really got more exciting due to drama. (LMAO)

Spoiler

After dying to protect ML, MC was transmigrated again for 2nd time... BUT this time in the body of her 1st life with her beautiful appearance but weaker body and great family. Her heart was transplanted to the ML.

Another plot twist is that the original FL got the same face of her previous body, the reason why ML and 2nd ML were attracted to OG FL.

I initially irritated bc I feel that the Ham Keman stole the love that supposed to be for her, however, I'm glad that ML recognized her immediately. I love the drama and sweetness after that, I like that this time, the ML is the who are taking care MC instead

[collapse]

There are also other interesting characters, I'm just sad that we didn't read anything about them in the ending esp. Zhao Qiang, Xiao Tian, Wu Anan, Lu Shuhao, , etc... Plus, the ending is also kinda leave me wanting more tho. <<less

This series itself really only deserves two stars, but the translation is so well-done I may have to give it 3. In essence, the story is about a strong-willed 20 y.o. Woman who transmigrates into a novel she reads. The FL's personality is great! She's spunky, stands up for herself, and has a realistic view on life. However, after about a hundred chapters, the plot goes to absolute sh*t.

Spoiler

Spoilers:

  • The ML disregards everything the FL teaches him and becomes a horrible gangster, forcing a girl into prostitution.
  • The original male lead becomes inexplicably obsessed with the FL after meeting her only twice??
  • Both the ML and the original novel's male lead are incredibly yandere (the FL gets kidnapped almost 3 times)
  • Wu Anan's personality does a 180 from likeable to [stares motherf*ckerly]
  • The female lead transmigrates twice, once from her original body to LuXin in the novel, then back to her original body but in a parallel universe.
[collapse]

The story really does get incredibly disorganized. The pacing is off, and a single "arc" can happen within a couple chapters. The dark elements are poorly executed, and at some point I started thinking the author threw in every negative trope she possibly could to illustrate the "bad boy has a soft side" point. Overall, a 2.5/5 read - something to keep the time if you're into yandere plots but nothing spectacular. <<less
