Amazing descriptions and hair rising moments every arc!

Honestly im usually pretty resistant to horror and this type of stuff but the way this author uses the web novel format to induce fear really made me feel like I was right there with our MC...

Our MC is the shining star obviously, his interactions with side characters didn't feel forced and their motivations were excellently mixed in conversations.

The story starts off a bit rushed but I feel for this novel it works! really well too!! when longer arcs start the pace does... more>> slow down and it meshes smoothly. Honestly this novel has it all, I love the characters, their interactions and the stories.

Honestly my only complaint is I wish we get more info on our MC... hes so #mysterious

Spoiler

desperately want more on the blue dragon and bruan too !!

Our MC Kim Soleum is just too likable ~

Also, we should add the tag Righteous Protagonist here (at the time I wrote this, there isn't) just to show how our MC is still mentally adjusted and upholding morality (where he could) despite all the ridiculously fatal situations that happen where he better discards it for better survival.

Even after helping, and saving others, in the process sometimes even sacrificing his benefits to do so... HE DOESN'T EVEN THINK THAT IT IS A BIG DEAL!?

Just because we follow his POV doesn't mean... more>> we know him well. That's cause he tends to downplay his act of saving others and thinks that without them, he couldn't make it.

Well Kim Soleum, without you they would be dead.

An MC that is both timid and scared by the constant horrors around them but virtuous enough to risk his life to do what is right at the same time, who wouldn't like him? Even the horrors like him!

He's such a good boy, that's why we love him so much.

Kim Soleum alone is the 4 stars of this novel, the remaining star is everything else in this novel (To me at least). <<less

I have seen a lot of positive reviews about this novel from Korean readers, and from what I've gathered, people misunderstand Kim Soleum (MC) 's nonchalant attitude as him being cold, emotionless, and powerful. Though– in reality he's actually quite cowardly, similar to the MC from INTKOT, if you enjoyed that kind of trope, you're in for a good ride, there are also some more interesting things the author added to this.

The novel combines horror with comedy, which are the misunderstandings. What makes it even more reassuring that it's good... more>> : the author is the same one who wrote 'Debut or Die', if you enjoyed that, I recommend giving this a try ^ _ ^

(This isn't related, but a big thank you to the person translating! The translations are great, looking forward to future chapters!) <<less

supernatural/paranormal horror where the protagonist isn't just a gary stu that ruins the story's tension, and where the horror takes the forefront instead of being the backdrop for a cheesy romance plot? Sign me up

very lethal company/scp-esque, interesting setting, interesting scenarios, immersive atmosphere, compelling protagonist, quality translations/reader experience, a very good read indeed

my interpretation of the MC is that he's a rational coward, while he is terrified by everything, he always keeps a clear head and possesses an analytical mind that helps him navigate extremely disadvantageous situations, this makes it... more>> seem like to the other characters that he's a calm, strong, unfazed man which creates funny misunderstandings <<less

I ran here to give a preliminary review. The most fun thing I'm reading, just in time for Halloween season.

It's a combination of a survival horror (with many survival death games, supernatural occurrences and an scp foundation resemblance) with an office setting (of the nature of a shitty company).

Disgruntled, strange and cowardly are my keywords for Kim Soleum. He's a funny protagonist that's well suited for the horror story he's transported into. So it's a fun story where everything is scary but the protag can always solve it in a... more>> fun sense haha.

The recommended age rating for this is 15+ for some slightly gruesome descriptions, dead bodies and potent horror content 👍 <<less

This is very entertaining and I have been reading it from 5 am now I have to go to school so I can't write a long review.

The MC is a coward but don't show it. He is kind of responsible and a good dude unlike many others in the place he is transmigrated to.

He is like an exception in a dimension. It radiated from his personality, in the world full of schemes and lie it seems to be him (pure) who is untainted by the world's aura as he is... more>> practically not from this world.

Anway in those creatures eyes he's a good person and yes compared to others he is even if he didn't agree him self.

How he behave and try to run is seen as opposite by others. Seeing him as a person of morals who wouldn't back down from adversities by even putting his life on the line to eliminate the creepy pastas.

Haha I think I stretch it too much I just let this novel down for a while as I am rereading some other novel. <<less

If you like SCP and similar mysterious/horror stories you will probably like this, the only problem is the MC and his cheat

Constantly terrified of everything "horror", so he reasonably speedruns any and all horror dungeons with his OP manual that shows the clearance conditions of all "creepy pastas"...

If it really was that big a deal he should pass out when surrounded by blood and body parts, maybe have some shakes in a corner instead of managing everything without any reaction other than thinking about how scared he is

MC will always... more>> rush through any dungeon with the win condition in sight, removing the thrill completely

The mystery and horror is almost non-existent so far, as he just needs to look up the clearance condition

Even when there is a problem with the "dungeon" changing or evolving, he just thinks "oh this ghost story evolved from SCP-1 to SCP-5, so if I just do XXX I can solve it"

He is also a super polite salaryman in the way he talks to people and acts, which is incredibly dull and from my pov seems unreasonable considering his life threatening job and experiencing horror stories constantly (some weird side plot going on where he acts like he has balls with only a single person just because that is supposedly a future big shot, when he doesn't care at all about all the people who are already big deals... basically he has a split personality only when around 1 specific guy) <<less

I was super excited to hear the author of ‘Debut or Die’ was creating a new novel. The story is enjoyable with its different concepts and world-building. The story keeps the horror aspect intact but it's also really funny! Personally, the characters are interesting to me and are pretty funny... Though I wasn't expecting anything less since I fell in love with ‘Debut or Die’ because of the characters! I do see similarities like how the author makes the MC seem nonchalant on the outside but secretly panicking within and... more>> the misunderstandings with everyone around (lol). The MC for this book is fun though! With all the gorey descriptions his little comments really lighten the mood.

I can’t wait to see what will come next! <<less

The story may be a little fast-paced but this is absolutely perfect for me. It doesn't drag on so many chapters of one event. It's understandable to see that the MC is a little OP with his cheats and fast problem solving skills that literally makes him speedrun multiple death instances but I find I don't really mind that aspect, considering that his likeable personality really shines through. Take note of the unreliable narrator element because boy is the MC the definition of an unreliable narrator.

A not so subtle love letter to SCP with a unique setting so that they can use their works and profit. We have a fun nuance to an OP protagonist, but its role in this story is fitting. This is a humorous story, and excellently done. If you're not a fan of horror, but somewhat curious this protagonist will feel like a good entry into the genre. It receives my highest rating. Its a blast. If you're not familiar with SCP google SCP wiki. It's an open source horror writing... more>> project for a community to enjoy the craft of writing. This story plays with themes with an Asian world view, but it still uses some familiar feeling things. I'm pretty taken with it. Easily see an adaptation as a possibility for it.

I love the story, anything with thriller/ horror elements really. And I can imagine myself be like the MC in real life, well maybe not in being able to solve problems. If I'm ever transmigrated in a horror story, I'd be really scared. I can't handle looking at ghosts. Just reading is fine.

The story elements are somewhat similar to this Chinese novel 'What's Wrong With Seeking Death?'. But what I like more with this novel compared to the other one is that the pacing is just right. I like stories... more>> with faster resolutions, such as the mc's pace in completing the 'ghost story'. Can't wait for more chapters :D <<less

I am someone who doesn't like horror 'cuz I'm a scaredy cat. But-

Wow. Like WOW. I got ABSORBED into the story!

Super Highly Recommended!!!

... more>> I'm gonna let this simmer until it gets completed 'cuz I can't wait with all the cliffhangers. You could say I sprinted through the chapters with relish and it's just so good.

For one, you could say the MC is a Gary Stu (the equivalent of Mary Sue, guy version). But it's just so fun to see how he solves the situation in a form that saves himself and others.

The fluidity, world building, elements and side characters are just.... love ittttt.

Know what? My regret in this novel is that I read it when it's still ongoing! I've been eyeing this novel but I just couldn't wait! Now I regret it!

Ahhhh!! I'll be back again! <<less

I started reading this novel just because I thought that the title is interesting and the fact that the novel is very popular (judging from how many fanarts it has) despite being released only recently. Turns out this novel totally deserves it.

The MC is a huge fan of creepy pasta but he's a coward. He's the type that will "fight" when he's scared. He always looked cool and composed on the outside, while crying and screaming on the inside. He's very smart and witty, can always find unconventional solutions in... more>> times of crisis.

The concept of the novel is basically like a typical dungeon story, however instead of fighting monsters, it's completing certain "rituals" to clear the dungeon. So it's not all about strength, but about wit and luck. This "dungeon" is a creepy pasta aka 'Darkness' and every arc has its own unique Darkness so it never feels repetitive.

The side characters feels alive. All of them has their own goals and their own distinct personalities. They also has their own view of MC's character. Some think of him as an angel and some think of him as a psychopath.

What I love the most about this novel is :

Spoiler

The mechanism of 'contamination'. Dealing with a Darkness for too long can affect MC's mental state. Because this novel is narrated by MC, we as the reader also got affected. It's like the novel is gaslighting us and I love it lol

[collapse]

In short, this novel has a lot of potential with its unique aspects. This novel really carries the author's limitless creativity. <<less

First, I’d like to highlight how surprised I was to eventually discover, while reading, that this novel has actually been extremely popular for quite some time. And I’m not exaggerating when I say extremely—it really is extremely popular. I only realized this when I started seeing readers of the novel commenting on fan art, and I got curious to see what they were like. That's when I stumbled upon tons of beautifully made art featuring the novel's cast. I guess it was to be expected—SCP is still the most well-known... more>> creepypasta out there, and this novel is heavily inspired by SCP. If anything, the novel could have even more appeal if it featured anthropomorphic characters to cater to the furry audience, though wait—there are at least two characters who are part animal... Anyway, it's a great novel. I think the highlight is the author’s writing, which is fluid. At no point did I feel tired while reading, and I marathoned everything available. The flow and pacing keep the reader engaged the entire time. The premise itself isn’t anything we haven’t seen in thousands of other works—it's pretty cliché, but it’s a well-done cliché, so it’s all good. I highly recommend reading it! <<less

Brilliant work! Was never a fan of horror myself, but the translator does an amazing job! Please read from the translator's site. They put in a lot of effort with the fonts and writing style to make you immersed in the horror story. I've been hooked on this novel, binge reading it for the past two days. Totally worth it. The last story arc ends at around ch 67-ish. So you can read till there without any cliffhangers.

arise.

The world-building too, is detailed enough to not be confused, and fun enough to indulge yourself in.

Truly, one can't help but be immersed in the world contained by this novel. It's written by the same author as "Debut or Die, " too, so the writing style is great.

Definitely would recommend this. <<less

I was wondering why this novel was so good, and then I found out it's written by the same author of Debut or Die... so it makes sense.

I don't often find KR novels on the horror Infinite Flow genre so I was a bit nervous about reading this... oh my god, it's so good.

Perfectly suits my infinite flow tastes.

The instances and the way how the MC handles them is very 'out of the box', which I like. There is something to be said about how Mary Sue he is/Gary Stu,... more>> but at the same time, I don't really mind because it's done in a way that you still see his flaws. He makes his flaws very apparent, but it still works.

The stories aren't SOO scary where I'm unable to sleep but this is still horror genre. Scariness maybe I rate 6/10? Max 6/10, considering the inner monologue of the character is so funny.

I absolutely love the world building, that being said. I wasn't really feeling it in the verrrry beginning, but by chapter 65 I'm fully into the groove of things and I love it.

Personality of the MC and the characters around him.... all I can say is that I can't way to see what happens next. I was a little disappointed there's no romance QQ... I'm still holding out aha but it's pretty unlikely now that I know the author also wrote Debut or Die. <<less

Basically if you took My House Of Horror and shoved it into the SCP universe and mix the two with them. I just want it to be clear that I am unsure if the author took inspiration from the two but they are just so similar so I have to make the comparison. This is not hate, I just love these types of stories/literatures and I love this novel.

Spoiler

Spoiler for my house of horror, but basically the main character of that story, goes around doing spirit appeasement, settling a ghost's regret or grudge. That or he captures them. It's not so simple of purifying or exorcising them, each ghost have like a specific set of rules that must be followed in order pacify it.

I am not sure if they based this novel off that but the "Ghost Stories" in this series follow the same logic where each anomaly has a set of rules it must follow and the main character finds loopholes or do a case of r/maliciouscompliance. In both series, the main character uses mostly their brain and the tools they get (magic items~wow~) in order to survive. Although thats kinda where the similarities end. In this series, our main character is just trying to survive and is a coward (his own words) and gets misunderstood as a psychopath due to the insane stuff he pulls. The main character of My House Of Horror on the other hand is actually insane. (How do you lug around a bloody hammer with spikes that looks like it was made of a human spine and not expect people to get scared??? And he uses said-hammer to threaten ghosts, not even people, most of the time)

[collapse]

The elements from SCP that I want to compare is basically the way the "Ghost Stories" work, such as having ranks and how dangerous they are based on those ranks. How they are contain, how there are organizations that control and contain these stuff. The reason why I have to compare it to SCP is because our main character is basically if some guy in the real world, fell into the SCP universe, where they get to keep a phone will all entries of each SCP. Thats basically the story of this novel. The way they built each "Ghost Stories" is similar to the way each SCP is logged and created, how the internet came together to basically create what we know as the SCP community.

The reason why I say this novel is a combination of the two is because our main character doesn't just clear each anomaly in his own unique way, but its also how he treats some of the more sentient beings. Such as being kind to some of the monsters that basically want to kill him, where said-kindness leads him to be rewarded most of the time, very similar to the way spirit appeasement works in My House Of Horror. <<less

All I have to say about this novel... oh my god. As a horror fan, I was drawn to this novel after seeing it gain popularity. It turned out to be more comedy than horror, even so it really reminded me of the SCP Foundation, and I absolutely love the unique concept.

What kept me hooked were the instances and their solutions. The creativity behind them is incredible, I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next (still cant). Plus the characters are unforgettable. No one feels insignificant.

The main character, Kim... more>> Soleum, is a coward who ends up in a fictional world full of anomalies. To get a ticket back home he has to work at Daydream Inc. Due to him being a sacredly cat he speedruns ghost stories using his past knowledge as an advantage.
