I wanted to design. I wanted to fill the world with amazing things I had created. For thirty years, without skipping a single day, I dreamed the same dream.

And after those thirty years, a miracle came to Woo-jin.

‘What just happened?’

What appeared before Woo-jin’s eyes was… a calendar from exactly 20 years ago.

“Architecture, is about finding the greatest possibilities within countless restrictions and realities.”

“And we have decided to add one more restriction to those countless others.”

“That restriction is none other than ‘design.’”

And so, in his second life, Woo-jin began his journey anew, pursuing his dream of becoming an architectural designer.

Another interesting spin on the regression genre, this time with an architectural / design theme.

And it's not egregious (yet) but again I can't help but ask why this supernatural ability of seeing the finished design as a golden three-dimensional blueprint to follow is even necessary. To me, the only purpose it serves is to actually call the protagonist's skills into question. Would he be able to design well without that aid? Is it really his design or is he just colouring in the lines?

Now, the story generally gives the impression... more>> that he indeed has sufficient ability, but then why bother with the supernatural when it's not relevant to the plot?

Arguably, someone with twenty years of related practical experience (albeit not directly as a designer) should have plenty of a leg up, now that he knows what to focus on and actually studies instead of postponing it to pay off debts.

Still, the novel is enjoyable overall, and that's just a minor conceptual flaw that bugs me.

Otherwise this ticks all of the important boxes for regression. Reclaiming opportunities through study, starting a business in the field of the actual dream rather than adjacent work, making connections (both new and acquaintances from the past life), and some investment to actually facilitate those dreams.

The characters are good and not too flat, and while the MC actively seeks the company of good people, bad people exist and the world isn't presented as easy with a bit of effort. Even for his newfound professional success, the MC has to skip just about all private life and even cuts into his sleep.

Not a lot of chapters are out yet, but overall this is shaping up to be one of the better representatives of its genre, and I can recommend it without second thoughts. <<less
