To love someone deeply is to wish to imprison them with a golden lock.

When Duan Yelin first saw Xu Hang, he wanted to lock him up and hide his beauty in the golden house—in fact, he did so.

If he seized him by force, he is a robber; if he is being patient and indifferent, he will be meat in someone else’s chopsticks.

Xu Hang was unwilling, but he wanted to live. There were still many things he had not done, so he finally entered Xiaotong Guan.

It’s a long-standing battle.

Even after four years of entanglement, Xu Hang always seemed like a bowl of freshly brewed medicine, with a faint aroma, but only after drinking it could one know whether it was poison or antidote.

It was a long time later that Duan Yelin realized that what he had locked up was not a cold and arrogant golden sparrow but a cold and sharp golden hairpin.

Status: Completed
Alright, so I find it kinda boring at the first 10 or 20 chapters. I mean I don't really understand their relationship. Their relationship was very complicated. Anyway, as the plot deepened, I binge read and stayed up until 8-9am cuz I couldn't put it down lol.

The mc's behavior was so strange to me, I somehow love how the ML loves the MC and was questioning myself, Was it really necessary? (I mean the MC, why not just live a nice and stable life with the ML instead of all... more>> those revenge? Was the revenge necessary?) but when his past was revealed I instantly understand why he couldn't put it down.

Spoiler

Their relationship appears as if Duan Yelin was the one forcing Xu Hang into their somehow strange and complicated relationship, but in reality, that's not really the case. Xu Hang is a very smart person I have to say, he thoroughly planned everything in order to achieve what he wants. He always appears to despise ml, but I could see it, I could see that he has long been in love with Ml. He has so many chance to kill ML and get away with no problem with his brain but he didn't (though he did plan to kill him at first). What broke me the most was when he remained in Hezhou the whole time waiting for ML to comeback when everyone already left T_T why would he do that if he doesn't like him? I can see his last move was to k*ll the Japanese (along with himself since he thought ML was dead).

[collapse]

The MC lives for only one purpose, which is to take the revenge. So obviously there will be nothing left for him to live for once it was archived. But at his last revenge he tried very hard to stay alive simply because the ML was waiting for him to come back which's sweet.

Spoiler

There is also the side couple T__T I'm crying my eyes out several times for Duan Zhanzhou and Cong Lin. My boy Cong Lin lived such a short and miserable life. He lives his whole life thinking DZZ hates him, only to know that DZZ was in fact in love with him before he passed. DZZ also only came to realize his feelings and know the truth after CL was already gone. He then saved ML and followed CL.

Overall, I like this story so much. There's so much going on and it's my first time reading a setting where it happens during the JP invasion. It's pretty new and it definitely worth a try. <<less
