MC is a first a assassin.. then he decides he can't play that class.. and restarts as a hunter.. and proceeds to learn new things to solo monsters. Alright there we go.... Just kidding Our MC is a hacker, and there has been hints that he has a family that is looking forward to meet him again and all dat jazz. We get to see our MC not motivated by money but by a job request and personal interest... And a little bit of a side characters view sometimes.

I do... more>> recommend this if you like VRMMO novels like ARK, LMS, SAO, and all the others.. :/ <<less

Trying a new review format. I will list the top 3 things I like, and the top 3 things I dislike. Minor spoilers, but nothing too specific.

Like:
1. Focus on an unusual class/atypical class for VRMMORPG novels
2. MC uses intelligence to creatively use skills
3. As of where I am there is no harem yet (though that tag is discouraging)

Dislike:
1. Typical ridiculous glorifying of MC, always saying how he's a genius hacker and uber creative on a level that normal people just couldn't manage
2. The... more>> whole hacking premise/trying to crash the game gets repetitive, and isn't convincing.
3. The title system that MC exploits annoys the crap out of me.

Overall:
Due to unique-ish approach, giving it a 4. If it develops into a harem, or some other negative element appears, it's dropping to at least a 3, maybe a 2. Wish the translators who keep picking up these random VRMMORPGs would do some of the Virtual World series novels... plenty of negatives there too, but more well done than this (at least VW:UUTS is) <<less

Storytelling is not solid enough, character growing is so so, and MC has too much conflicts, if you read this novel for awhile you will think that "Oh f*ck, isn't this MC too OP?" but not long before you will know that "Oh f*ck, that dude is even stronger than MC". *Sigh* How the heck these dudes come from? Suddenly, they appear and make MC looks like an idiot, even MC has many adventures and many encounters but still can't fight some of them.

And where the f*ck is his sister,... more>> if I don't remember wrong, his sister receives something like Olympic Archer? But till chapter 466, she doesn't even appear yet.

PS. I really hate that Kaka the carbomb lolita. F*ckKK!! DROP!! <<less

If you're interested in mostly the hacking concept and have even a slight amount of knowledge about such things, then I recommend giving this a pass. It's painfully obvious the author has no idea what he's talking about with hacking and technology and has probably never even played a 3D game. In the first couple of chapters the author actually says:

"In a traditional game, whenever a player moves, he can only appear on a space, and never on the junction of two cubes. According to traditional game logic, the cave... more>> passage should be divided into two rows of spaces. When he walks in the cave, he should be only able to walk on the left or on the right."

and then goes on to explain how this game is amazingly different in that he can actually stand on a junction..... yea that should tell you everything you need to know about the author's knowledge of technology, remember this novel first came out in 2014. <<less

This is really one of the best MMORPG out there, the protagonist in the story isn't like others who has return back to time, or someone who is physically strong, or has an OP item. Our MC here do things step by step and there logic works in this novel.

The thing you'd love here is how he tries to break the game which is hilarious in a sense that the repetitive action he does makes you amaze and laugh at the same time.

So if you're gonna read this I can... more>> only tell you that you wouldn't be able to stop yourself from finding machine translation because of how good it is. <<less

TL;DR: Good read with a fun and exciting start (for ~200 chapters), but lacks long-term appeal. The novel's strengths lie in its captivating beginning, centered around a hacker finding exploits in the game. The main character quickly getting OP at the start feels deserved and satisfying. However, after 250+ chapters, things start getting repetitive for me. The author seems to have limited knowledge of hacking, as the the talks about hacking are always superficial, and a lot of the writing that is about the game, the hacker organisation, the characters,... more>> and the real world lack depth and doesn't seem well thought out, which hinders the story's potential.

Pros:

  • Captivating start with a thrilling concept of a hacker finding exploits.
  • Enjoyable progression of the main character through titles and

    .
  • The game itself and all the aspects of it (leveling, items, abilites, etc.) are decent
Cons:

  • Becomes repetitive after 200-250 chapters.
  • Author has inadequate knowledge of hacking, subject is never really discussed or explored fully.
  • Althought the game itself seems nice, the explanations and talks about it lack depth and detail.
  • Lack of character development, with nearly all characters lacking distinct personalities.
Nonetheless, I'd still recommend it as the start of the novel was really good. <<less
