Finished reading this with MTL. It is surprisingly readable.

This novel is pretty good. Sure, time travel and a game system aren't exactly "possible" but it's nice seeing a game system that quantifies the stats and skills that allow someone to be good at a sport. And I enjoy watching tennis so it's nice to see a novel about it.

A lot of real players appear, because it takes place starting in 2006 after traveling back in time. It's obvious that the author is a big tennis fan, because his pseudonym (McEnroe) was another top player from the 1970s, and because he does a good job explaining the strengths and weaknesses of each player during the matches. He also explains the minutiae of being a professional well, like different levels of tournaments and qualification for Grand Slam events.

I have a few reasons why I rated this a 4 instead of a 5, but be forewarned that they're spoilers for the plot.

With all those nits being picked, I still enjoyed it, so if you like novels about sports you should give this one a try.

MC gets a second chance to become the best tennis player, now that he's equipped with a game level system.

Not much to go off from, but loving the vibes and pace so far.

It does reminds me of Prince of Tennis with MC showing off 'cool named techniques' which I always found helpful to remember, but hopefully author doesn't go too crazy and exaggerate too much with it

This One Definitely Has Potential, As Expected From The Author Of The Book Eating Magician. Writing and Translation both are good. There is not much to say but The first chapters were enjoyable as of now The MC Han Woo Jin is good and I am looking forward to see more of it.

As of right now the only thing I can really review is the first couple of chapters, and so I'm just gonna go with my gut here and say that so far it's been quite enjoyable. The concept has been done before, true, but the style of writing is solid and flows well and the quality of translation is also quite high. I am just gona say that I really like the writing style of the author because TBEM is one of my fav novel's to just read and not think anything so I would recomend to wait for more chapter's to come out then you can start to read this novel and decide for yourself if you like it or not. If you just cant wait you can try to read The Book Eating Magician to get a taste of the author's style of writing.

Edit:i just read the first chapter... more>> and its the same novel as god of cooking but with tennis so if you rly loved god of cooking (i did) you should read this novel its for you.

I haven't been excited about a sports genre novel in a long time.

Definitely fills the missing novel which can properly represent the space.

hope the releases are consistent and regular.

This is a passable, tennis-based, 'this character sheets development' story.

The Good:

• If you like tennis, this seems pretty 'true to the basics' (special moves aside).

The BAD:

• This is the same author of 'The Book Eating Magician', and is therefore disappointing in comparison.

• There is some character development, but nowhere near enough.
• Time travel? Ok- but why the cheat system? Is 10 years of experience not enough of an advantage?

The Different:

• I did enjoy how the he wasn't the only one to grow due to matches.

Not bad-- but unless you're really into tennis or pretty bored this isn't likely to stand out. <<less

If you want a change, this novel is for you. Its a genuine sports novel with fantasy in the mix. MC has game like stat ability where he can only see status when he pich up their Racket. No cheating! To gain new ability he have to work hard. He has good rival. No evil person up until now. No cultivation! ! Where all you have to do is sit down and meditate to gain power. No cheat object! Up until now I yet to see any heroin. Maybe will... more>> be found later. Although its a time swap but he is not Odin like other novel.

Finally, the release of translation is regular; about 3 chapter per week and sometimes bonus chapter as well. Translation quality is good as well. <<less

It's good. My problem it's that the MC doesn't only go to the past and has 10 years more of experience in tennis that his peers (He star as a pro at 23, if you ask me thats like pretty old for that carrer), he also gets a cheat system that give him stats and skills. Thats infinitly worse that doping.

I remember reading this before. Han Woojin, the MC is 33 yrs old tennis player who planned to sell his racket with Ivan Lendl's signature. Then there's this buyer who asked him what is his wish then he answered to be a person who's talented and pay off his efforts. Then they had a deal and bam he regress with system 10 yrs ago (23 yrs old). It reminds me of one kn novel I read before with similar title but this is tennis and that is cooking. As for... more>> the sport well... Its not that bad compare to other sports theme that I've read. About the romance, its not like it suddenly pop out in the ending. At the beginning you could see that both of them have a good feelings to each other. The romance would be super slow since this focused more on tennis. Even so, you could still see how they progress their relationship. There's hint on it, like FL changing her impression to MC, FL supporting him (more than an agent), MC gotten atttact to Fl, FL getting jealous over a spanish girl who is some sort of talking close to MC (this was after they're kinda know each other's feelings) and etc... <<less

It's really interesting, but there is a small problem I have with it. Its beginning was way too similar to the Korean Cooking Novel God of Cooking. Otherwise, the plot seems fun.

I read the MTL. It's understandable. The story is okay, just right to pass the time. But why don't they use the correct tennis terms? It's irritating. The Serve & Volley became sub&bali, the court became coat, ready is radi and etc.

The rest are understable, the terms are just irritating to read.

I don't know if this has been dropped but hopefully someone will pick it up. I liked this novel enough to try reading the mtl but... the details aren't conveyed as well and it's not the same. The MC isn't obnoxious or super overpowered. He has the help of the system but is still the same hardworking person he was in his past life. Highly recommend if you enjoy more realistic second chance novels!
