“Shameless Xia Ping, not only did you steal my martial arts manual and medicinal pills, you even took my fiancée! We’re not finished!”

“He’s the embarrassment of the Martial Way and a parasite of the human race. A complete scumbag.”

“There’s nothing that he won’t do. Not only would he not help an old person cross the road, he would even steal the lollipop of a three year old.”

“He causes problems everywhere. All of the geniuses of those big families have been beaten up by him before. Now, he’s no longer tolerated by either humans or gods!”

Countless martial arts experts of Yanhuang Star hated Xia Ping down to the very bone. They were just itching to completely crush him into pieces.

As for Xia Ping? Facing the hatred of so many people, he just calmly pulled up the interface of the “Grand Hatred System” and looked at all the wonderful things there. He rubbed his chin, “I’ve already saved up so many Hatred Points. What should I exchange for now? Saint-grade medicinal pills? Or perhaps that Primordial Pill? The peerless martial art skill, Tathagata Palm also seems pretty good too. But then there’s that divine weapon, the Cosmic Cauldron. It really is too difficult to choose!”

Honestly I can't tell if the editing is poor, or the original novel had subpar writing, but the chapters are hard to read. I have been needing to read a paragraph twice to understand what was going on sometimes.

Regardless, from what I read, I have not been liking what I have seen. I was interested by the premise of a seemingly evil bastard MC, however all I have seen so far is just overpowered MC, face smacking of cardboard cutout young masters, peerless jade beauties being interested in our MC,... more>> and of course sneering against tr*sh MC. Basically generic as can be. I was actually a little amazed how the author managed to jam so many cliches into ten chapters.

From how generic the first ten chapters have been, I don't really have any anticipation for improvements. I will check back in about a hundred or so chapters to see if my initial impressions are wrong, but for now I will rate this novel as 2/5 stars. <<less

The Plot armor is too obvious, but the author also mentioned that people still like these sort of novels

Who doesn't like a shameless protagonist pissing people off wherever he goes?

This alternate universe really have a lot of gossipers, (he did this, he did this and that, he did this and that to these people) Every time it spreads by word of mouth, it gets worse

... more>> I'm sure many readers would like this kind of comedy that doesn't overly focus on martial arts

The only issue is that there are too many teams translating the novel, with so many different groups, the quality drops a lot <<less

I thought the "hate concept" was unique and could be used as a legitimate excuse for the MC to start challenging strong groups of people instead of the typical "ret*rded" MC who provokes anyone. However, the author completely butchered this tr*sh. The hate points MC collects seems to be so forced. For some reason when MC does something that doesn't even affect the rest of the population, they also for "some" odd reason also show hatred towards MC.

I genuinely thought the author was kinda smart thinking of such a system... more>> as it would give a reason for the MC to anger a "strong" force unlike the typical cliche in so many other novels. <<less

Quite a light-hearted novel. Love the MC OPness and him making his enemies super mad, makes me laugh.

Plot armor is great you don't need to worry about him meeting a super-strong enemy god. The ending could have something more like MC children trolling the universe.

Overall it's a great troll love it.

Until the end it would be a 5 stras novel. However the last 30 chapters were to rushed and with too much time skip.

1 star- is given because the MC actually plan his actions and hide his identity when he do despicable things.

2 star- since family lovers are taken care. Yes his cultivation surpasses everyone but he takes care of them visit and give resources so that they can cultivate. Their cultivation is slow in comparison with the MC, but they are living their lives and not chained to the... more>> MC.

3- star - funny dialogue and situations.

4- star - clear power level and explanation when MC is op

5- star - sadly in the last few chapter it is lost. However for the majority of the novel MC has clear objective and the plot develops in logical way. <<less

This novel is at least 50% irrelevant background characters yelling ret*rded sh*t that is just factually not true and gets proved wrong one paragraph later which I guess it means they got face slapped? The "characters" in this novel have the memory of goldfish.

Like in the school martial arts tournament the MC completely obliterated a 6th stage martial disciple but now all the people are cheering on a 5th stage martial disciple saying he's gonna crush the MCs bones when it was just shown that the MC just dominated someone... more>> stronger than this guy. Then one punch later he loses "WHAT IMPOSSIBLE" "HOW DID THIS HAPPEN" really annoying stuff

Overall just an extremely unpleasant and aggravating read, would not recommend. <<less

Pro:

*MC is funny and interesting to watch.

*MC cares about his Mom and Dad

... more>> Con:

*The antagonist are basically the same every arc so far. The young master, the young master's dad/guardian and the criminal organization guys. They're basically the same each arc just a bit stronger than the last which is quite annoying at times. (They just say and do the same sh*t over again but what can I say except "CN Novel Antagonist"). I'm suppose to believe that this "great families" have been dominating their city with how s*upid and illogical their reasoning is.

*The Girls (Harem) basically the same person, they just have a bit of quirk each for the reader to tell them apart.

*Most people (like not even the antagonist, just every peanut gallery) are tr*sh, idk the in-universe reason of how people like that can live to this day considering that they live in a world where people kill people just bcoz of small things. <<less

This novel is mainly a comedy, so if you are looking for something serious, I recommend you keep searching for other novels. That said, this novel, although too fast-paced sometimes, does have an entertaining and enjoyable plot.

TLDR: If you don't have anything to read and don't care about the comedic tone, I strongly recommend this novel.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this. The English translation is only upto chapter 58, so it's really still the beginning in a lot of ways, but at least that far in I still really want to see what happens next. It's really funny and kind of ridiculous. MC is pretty intelligent, not a p**sy, he uses his head as much as his cheat systems to do things, and his system in general is like a constant drama generator since he basically has to piss people off to... more>> get stronger.

I can see some points people wouldn't like, for example the general public/side characters are pretty brainless, and MC continues to be underestimated by people who already know he's strong, or people seem to hate him unrealistically, like he will have barely done anything some times and people dislike him. I think the author could have done better on those points but it's a blemish, not a showstopper.

I will say for anyone looking to read this in English, skip the earliest translated chapters from Fantasytranslationz, they are pretty bad. If you look at some of the later areas multiple groups have started translating it from chapter 1 again. I don't really understand why so many groups seem to have picked up this novel and then dropped it, because it's honestly fairly funny. <<less

It’s decent so far.

Pros

  • Interesting power system
  • The setting is intriguing
Cons

  • MC can be quite s*upid at times.
    Spoiler

There was one time when he killed a typical young master. Had the rant with the young master telling him he can’t kill him because of his background and everything. The next day, after killing the guy, he gets an influx of points. He proceeds to start wondering if the guy he just killed has a background...

    [collapse]
  • Fairly repetitive.
  • Comedy is kind of bland.
Overall it’s alright. Keyboard immortal is a better read if you want this kind of novel but this is still a nice alternative.

Welp it was a good comedy novel, it is pretty refreshing. The way the MC acts is really funny, you can truly feel the shamelessness. But it’ssuch a shame that it has a mediocare plot/story (Classic Chinese Novel Troupe). And the ending is very satisfying, the way Author wraps it up is really heartwarming.

At the time of this review, I'm almost at the end of the story, and unfortunately, this author went politics witch hunting at around chapter 2500+ when I really thought he was going to make it to the end without doing what oh-so-many-many other Chinese authors do. What I mean by political witch hunting is the Chinese author will use their story as a platform to attack western concepts, people, and history, especially the USA. I'm almost convinced they have to do so in order to get the Chinese gov't... more>> to approve their novel to be published, though there are exceptions.

Author Lemu got my nod of approval as a reader with his MC saying and doing all sorts of things to generate hatred points for his system to be used. I realize the system type story line isn't unique, but I felt Lemu did present his earn hatred to generate rewards as original. There is even bits here and there to remind you that "the system" is steering the MC toward a big picture final destination.

But then it all fell apart for me with his extreme "angel" bashing. The author even contradicts himself by showing early on a juvenile female angel, who is compassionate and a do-gooder, but much later on in the novel has dialogue indicating the "angel race" is just chock full of nothing but evil thoughts and deeds. Even the demons of hell aren't as evil as the angels. I guess Lemu really needed to boost his Chinese gov't social credit standing by going off on some serious religion bashing of the West. Remind me when I last noticed a western fantasy author bashing China?

Lemu, I don't think you'll ever read this, but you should know your story was on the right track for me until you ruined it with your political bashing. Go read "I Shall Seal the Heavens" for an author that knows how to write a great story without smearing cultures in the process. <<less

Too many loose ends.

Spoiler

What about his influence (Earth) ?

What about his system? It strongly hinted at something and could have been extremely interesting in the end, but was left hanging. Even the MC was pretty sure there was a motivation behind the system's actions and rewards...

What about the Chaos? Lots of teasing done yet once the MC got powerful enough to navigate far and wide the Chaos the novel ended. It had previously been hinted there would be wars between universes because of the entropy effect (cultivators slowly making the land barren because they appropriate themselves all of the energy and slowly make the universe they're at die), where stronger universes would plunder on the weaker ones, but nothing besides the introduction.

[collapse]

It felt like a rushed ending and pretty unsatisfying.

There's also never a strong sentiment of danger. He does whatever he pleases whenever he pleases. <<less

I read the Perpendicular Slants comment, and I regretted not having read this comment before reading the story... Because it is a complete story, I suffered with the thing called "I need to know how it ends", and so, if there were several days of reading, and I say, in the end it was frustrating...

I'll try to get the points across without spoiling it, but anything could slip through, so be prepared for that.

The story itself, it's not bad, but it was very poorly organized, like something like "I have... more>> a problem now, I'm going to do this now and solve it, and it's solved, oops, another problem, now I need something else to fix this other problem ". In the case, it never felt like there was real progress, just a growth of powers. It's like a game, that in the next phase, the enemies are the same, just changed the color, or the element... It had a lot of potential, but it lacked a lot...

Already in the first chapters, he finds out about his system, so I think it would not be a spoiler, and says about it in the summary of the story above, and in a part of the chapter he says "I need to be careful not to make the world hate me", but well... The protagonist is very annoying, in the beginning it was cool, but it gets to a point, that what he does, it doesn't make sense, if you understand that he needs hate, but sometimes, he's just an idiot for anyone, he is a person who basically has no friends, this is a great demerit of the author, since with that, we only have names, and not secondary characters in the story, because I bet if you change the names of the characters in the dialogues, not even would realize it was another character, since they are all similar.

And my friends... The story is almost 3k of chapters, and I believe that about 500 chapters boils down to "I'm going to kill the protagonist" "The protagonist has such an item, I'm going to kill him", "Enemy X has arrived, the protagonist will not be a match for him", and of course, another 300 chapters with "How can he stop my coup?" I can't believe this is happening, I can't die", and the more classic "I, the invincible guy, am I going to die like this? I can't accept that, I can't". No kidding, if you take that out of the story, it would have 1/3 less chapters, it's very boring, halfway through the story, I started skipping these dialogues, because basically it didn't add anything, nothing at all.

The villains... I would say that in these stories it's all bots, you know those random characters you find to level up? Basically, all the villains in this story are like that, there isn't a single villain, after reading almost 3k of chapters, as far as I can remember, and also, they are always s*upid, in this case, imagine this situation, that doesn't happen in the story, but it would be something like this. An enemy has a knife, and says he is going to kill the protagonist, the protagonist pulls out a pistol, instead of the enemy with a knife being afraid, he says "Oh, he has a weapon, if I take this pistol, I can kill everyone world with just one shot", and the protagonist is there, aiming the gun at him, and that's exactly how it happens, and this is the dialogue of 70% of the enemies, wanting to take the protagonist's things when they see it... A lot idiot...

What made me read this story, was the system, but it seems more like "I want to write a plot, but the protagonist needs a new power, the system will give it to him", basically, once or twice he used the system to get new things, but then, there was always a situation that needed something, and the system did it, it was frustrating, because the system lost a lot of the important thing, and the same thing in a game where the level is not important, but the items are that you use in the game, here the system would be the levels, the importance is almost zero...

And about the ending... Well, no spoilers, but basically, the last 30 chapters, it seems that it tries to summarize 300, basically it seems that the author got tired of the story, and just wanted to finish, and what makes me surprised, that I already saw many novels end like this, the epic ending, but it has a fight of one or two chapters, and it ends... With several mysteries still open, of course the story does not have to be infinite, but it simply ends, and if you read it, it will understand what I'm saying...

So, in short, I give it a 3, but I do not recommend this story, there are many chapters, even though they are short chapters, because there is no problem with a story maybe being poorly written, or even some bad parts, and other good ones, but this one is basically something generic, without depth and without personality, that when it ends, you're just frustrated, and thinking "But this and that, is it over?"

And to be honest, I thought I should give it a 2 now... Yes, I changed my rating to 2 now, >...<. It'll probably be a week later and I'll forget about this story... There are many better novels to read out there... <<less

i am 99% sure that the author was trying to write a game script and it got rejected because of how tr*sh it was so he just uploaded it as a novel. The protagonists always gets one or two things after killing a group of people or strong enemy and it sounds as if they are drops which is really weird. The low iq people are common in these novels but coupled with the drop thing it sounds like some low quality rpg game rather than a novel. Dont read... more>> it you can read MGA instead, at least its first 500 chapters are readable.

one thing I like that he kills people which makes it slightly readable.

in some novels I have seen some bandit or underground leader type character's lackies just give some foolish reasoning and then attack MC. At those times it adds a depth to their character and you get the feeling that they are not very intelligent and they just need to deal with MC and dont need much reasoning also that they are used to such things so I like it. But what if students do these things? Not once but all the times. And they are not children of soe bandits as well. They are children of kings. It all sounds so foolish and dumb and that its irritating. <<less

Good fun overpowered MC with lots of plot armor. The antics of the MC keeps the story interesting. Don't treat it too seriously and just enjoy the story.

What keeps it from getting a 5 stars are:

  1. Companions: Interesting at the start but subsequently nothing more than background characters with no development
  2. Ending was too rushed
  3. The family scene at the end doesn't bring any closure to the story

I’ll admit that I enjoyed this for the most part, but this novel is truly mediocre at best. Nothing really stands out and all the characters are extremely generic. While the MC does have his charm, I often times just find myself skimming over a lot of the dialogue. Enemies were also extremely boring, all of them pretty much being copy pasted, just having different names and realms of strength. Every single fight was extremely predictable and didn’t have much suspense. MC literally had no opponent near his realm who... more>> could fight him, pretty normal stuff. Guess it’s nice that the MC progression was really fast, seeing an improvement every 50 chapters or so, only speeding up at the end of the novel when the time skips really began to come into play.

What I found most annoying is how the MC disguises himself for the majority of the novel going around using aliases. If there’s one thing I hate in these sort of novels, this is definitely it. When he was weak, okay it makes sense. But even when he was overwhelmingly strong, the MC continued to do so. Don’t know why authors think the whole hiding true identity plot is ever good, literally skipped all those chapters, so a good half of the novel if not more. Crazy thing being is that I missed absolutely nothing by doing so.

Other than that, the romance in this novel s**ked. Didn’t really come into play until late and they all progressed in the same manner with there being some occurrence like an inheritance or the MCs bloodline go crazy and then accidentally dual cultivating. Beyond dull really. His last woman being the worst where the MC was caught and r*ped for an entire year until the woman made sure she was pregnant. Really dumb move on the author’s part. MC goes undefeated the entire novel and suddenly the last 50 chapters she comes along and manages to do what nobody else was capable of and one ups him while he’s unable to retaliate. And what do you know, she becomes one of his women... Really ruined the ending even more for me there,

Anyhow, this is worth reading, but you definitely won’t miss anything by not doing so. <<less
