Fate, a gatekeeper who had been working for the castle, leads a troublesome life.

Constant hunger attacks triggered by a power forced upon him at birth. A useless skill, it only serves to make him hungrier; however, unbeknownst to him, it has a concealed ability.

One day, having killed a thief sneaking into the castle, he finally noticed its true power.

A skill that feeds upon the very soul of the subjects he kills, depriving them of all their powers. Finally, his constant hunger had been satiated for the first time.

With just that, the man who had been treated like a pile of tr*sh slowly started raising his head. Having exceeded the concept of levels, he strikes fear with his terror-like strength, earning him the nickname…

The story is pretty fast, straightforward, and simple.

Because of that there're many holes here and there, like no proper power standardization, he has many skills but I don't even know which ones are active type and which ones are passive type because he barely ever uses them, the weapon is simply imbalanced, moreover the use status percentage as the fuel to use its skills makes the power balance more vague.

well, to put it simply, this story is good enough to accompany you killing time.

MC has unlimited potential of stats

yet the story got stagnant, so author create a move to reduce MC potential

Spoiler

MC can absorb ALL STATS of opponents.

He could literally swat any monster like mosquito.

yet the author create a system to spend MC stats for a powerfull move.

because of plot, MC was "forced" to use this move when actually MC could save his stats and pilling up stats till infinite value.

in the end MC is hovering between weak and strong states eventhough his absorbtion is op af

MC dont need other ability. His "powerfull" move is actually hurting him in the long term

[collapse]

very lame plot powerspike <<less

The beginning seemed promising and the characters designs were cool (I came from the manga) so I read it and I was disappointed by the sheer idiocy of the characters.

The characters are all cliche cutouts and have a generic personality. The plot is also predictable and boring. Predictable plots can be fun but this is purely annoying and tedious.

My patience finally wore out and I dropped this at around a 100 chapters. Definitely won't recommend. Don't be decieved by the cool character designs.

Rating 3, 5 can be changed to 4 in the future

Hmm I cant say its bad. I find the plot its quite interesting.

What I hate on this story that author really put to much on interaction to another character like when MC must go to his territory from capital I spent 10+ chapter to handle the for me boring interactions between MC and the girl before coming to the plot.

... more>> Currently the author seem gone for hiatus but I hope when its time to comeback the author already find enlightenment

Im not really a great reviewer so maybe this is not the review that you are looking for

the rating will be changed overtime <<less

In the beginning, this story starts out as looking like a cliche getting an overpowered skill and being stronger, but as you get farther it's not this completely. The MC is op but his ability doesn't do everything for him. He has the stats to fight against things but he has to learn the skills to be able to control his stats correctly. His ability also has the side effect where if he uses gluttony too much then he can lose himself. It's also the fact the MC has actual... more>> character development so far. Like he realizes that he does things wrong and changes himself at times. This is what I feel but what I think you should do is at least read up to chapter 80 and formulate your own opinion. <<less

Yes it's about as bad as the low reviews here say.

-flimsy characters (female lead starts off with default max affection for MC for no reason, etc)

-high levels of edgelord (chuunibyo) - I mean, just look at illustrations for this: red eyes, skull mask, black outfit, black gear, "tortured" protagonist.

... more>> -ridiculous power stats that go up to millions

However it still managed to entertain me during the 80+ chapters I managed to endure while half cringing to the story and the other half cringing to the bad english grammar (at least it's not machine translated gibberish?) (tqvm for the translation work but..... it needs some work).

In conclusion it's not the worst I've read. <<less

My primary complaint is the story itself.

The MC is constantly getting his abilities reset back to an early, aka low, power level. I'd have ditched the reason for it as soon as I knew it would happen. Of course that would have tossed out some of the 'deus ex machina' and a bunch of plot armor...

Can't have a game mechanic type story without huge servings of deus ex machina and plot armor.

The reason why I gave this novel one star is because the world building has a very shaky foundation when you look at it. If you wish to give this novel a try then I would recommend ignoring any stat increases you see and only focusing on the new skills he gains. The reason I say this is because the leveling and stat system aren't well thought out. When you start to bring in how the Gluttony skill is supposed to push him to fight stronger beings, then the world... more>> building gets even worse if you pay attention to stats.

The following question is a slight spoilor so you may want to avoid.

***If the gluttony skill is supposed to push him to hunt stronger prey then why didn't it do that between chapter 9 and 10? *** <<less

It's a good novel, but... IMO.... there aretoo many redundant details such as, "greed talk to me with <mind telepathic> skill.. greed said to me with <mind telepathic> skill.. and so on and so forth..." 80% of the times when MC talks with greed, and lack of emotional expression when MC talks, I read it like MC just talk in monotonic voice, and his dependant of greed is still not less than when he get the sword, maybe it's because MC can just 'eat' others souls to grow but idk,... more>> he should start to grow some spine.. <<less

its an good novel. At first the MC was just a weak character in a world full of human scums with a useless skill which only makes him hungry but when he realizes its true worth he instantly gets strong and powerfull but there are still lot of guys which are more powerfull or on the same level. The skill is great but also a double edged sword which might devour his body if uncontrolled. Also he is madly in love with this nobel girl which helped him when he... more>> was weak but beacause of his social status and power cant approach her. But the girl soon fells into conspiracies and people trying to harm her so he becomes her silent guardian but even after saving her and getting power and social status he still can't approach her due to various reasons. Overall up to now he is trying to make the world a place where the weak can also be happy. <<less

The story is somewhat interesting, but the MC is beta and s*upid. The worldbuilding is not really there and there is no character development. I would rate this novel higher if it was not for too much drama. MC is making s*upid decisions things just happens because they must happen this way. Overall I don't really like where the story is going, but it might end up being good in the end. It's just many of the struggles in the story didn't have to be there or be that dramatic.

The... more>> story starts fine but gets more irritating as it progresses. No one ever tells MC anything until it's too late. One of the most common dialogs in the story:

- "someone says something seemingly important to MC, but stops half-way and does not finish the thought"
MC: What are saying (what did you mean)
- Nothing, forget about it.

At least once a chapter this would happen. Gets kinda annoying as you keep reading <<less

It is good for what it is. Although the seven deadly sins thing isn’t necessarily a new concept, the novel makes it more unique by making it so that not all the sins are humanoid things. Like the sword for example.

You’d expect for a guy who can steal the stats of the sh*t he kills to become strong very fast. Which he does, but he has an extra burden to carry that is greed (the sword). So although he gets stronger, he needs to give his stats to greed just... more>> to keep him. I totally agree with his decision to keep the sword. I don’t understand how people can be so dumb as to not understand why you’d need a good weapon over good stats. Yknow a sentient sword that can turn into other weapons like a bow and a weapon that won’t break, ever, I think is a pretty good trade off for the stats he got easily by killing a few goblins.

The funny thing is that people expect this novel to be especially unique and rate it in that as well. The fantasy genre like this one is so oversaturated already that no matter what the author writes, it cannot be unique. The magic will be the same, the races will be the same and so on.

The characters are interesting in on themselves. They are a bit cliche but they are good. They aren’t bland and get enough development. So far at least.

Of course I can’t completely judge it, I mean there are only a few chapters still but so far it is a fun read. Although I wouldn’t say it is amazing or anything like that. I think it is something you can read, while travelling or relaxing. Whatever you do with your free time. <<less
