In a world reduced to ashes by nuclear war…

As extreme famine drives humanity to consume its own kind, monstrous beings called “Ghoul,” driven mad by their insatiable hunger for human flesh, begin to emerge.

Only ‘I,’ with the help of my brother, managed to survive without consuming human flesh.

“Even in death, I don’t want to be eaten.”

Determined to honor my dying brother’s wish, I risked my life to cremate his infected body.

But I failed.

Instead, I found myself captured by a group of strangers.

Long, slender fingers grasped my chin, lifting my head.

“Beautiful,” the man murmured.

He released my chin and yanked me forward.

As I stumbled after him, I saw the others loading my brother’s half-burned body into the back of a truck.

The moment I realized who they were, I tried to back away.

This is a pretty good and weirdly fluffy dark nuclear + zombie apocalypse story. Like all of them, the first couple chapters are the absolute worst (see: r*pe tag) and then allt he characters kinda act like that never happened and the story continues unbothered. Idfk least favorite trope for sure but at this point it seems like a categorical dark romance genre problem...

There are a couple reasons I like this story, the main one being it feels pretty realistic and down to earth compared to most others. MC has... more>> never seen a cigarette before, so he describes it as a weird paper thing someone puts in their mouth and burns. MC has never heard someone sing before, etc. well done sheltered person exploring the world except the world is full of zombies and cannibals basically. There's a lot of questions to be had but it seems like they'll actually be answered eventually. The story is also pretty biologically accurate. MC is starving and doesn't have a s*x drive, and the ML recognizes this fact. Starvation and malnutrition is described accurately more or less, It's been about 25 (or more) years since the apocalypse and so MC only knows canned or packaged food. Stuff like that. Another reason I like the story is that the main couple is weirdly fluffy, especially for a theoretically cannibal and prey pairing. ML is pretty nice, likes to cuddle, and understands MC's situation. MC kinda just craves any human company but recognizes staying in this situation is best for him. It's hard to explain but by chapter 8 or so the vibe is totally different than ch. 1-3.

Reasons to dislike the story: you don't like cannibalism being mentioned constantly, there's one real r*pe scene and quite a bit of dubcon, and the starting premise is a disaster. Basically MC's older brother completely sheltered MC from the world and taught him nothing then died, said to burn his body summoning other humans (who happen to be cannibals) and the story starts. So basically MC's brother is the worst?? Wdym you raise someone to 20 years old in the apocalypse and prevent them from learning any life skills of any form??? Dude?

The translation is good but the censorship choices are really funny. I like them because they're funny but it might be jarring for some people to be reading smut and hitting words made of English looking characters. Also words are a bit over-censored, with things like "draped" getting censored. <<less

This story felt incredibly realistic and truly captured the essence of survival in an apocalypse. The struggles, emotions, and harsh realities didn’t feel exaggerated—it all came across as something that could genuinely happen, which made it even more engaging to read.

I really enjoyed both the MC and ML. They were not only cool but also very cute in their own ways, and their relationship was one of the highlights of the story. It felt natural, sweet, and full of small moments that made it easy to get attached to them.... more>> There were also quite a few bittersweet scenes that hit deeply—I honestly felt like crying at certain parts.

That said, the ending felt a bit rushed. It seemed like it could have been developed more or concluded in a more satisfying way. I’m also not entirely sure whether those final chapters were extra content or the actual ending, which made it a little confusing.

Overall, though, it was a really good read, and I genuinely enjoyed it. I’d definitely recommend others to give it a try. <<less
