Gekkou, or “Moonlight”, is about the peculiar relationship between a cynical boy and a perfect girl.

Said cynical boy is Nonomiya who spends day in day out in boredom, taking refuge from his dull life in his imagination. One fateful day, he happens upon the notebook of the much-rumored beauty Youko Tsukimori, neglected on the ground. Poking out from it is a scrap of paper with the unexpected title “mu*der Recipe”. His interest ignited, he immediately stuffs it into his pocket, only to find out the promising recipe contains nothing but scenarios that may or may not lead to deadly accidents, not even worthy of being called a plan.

When he tentatively asks her about it the next day, she hasn’t lost anything. But then her father dies. An accident…

A story for those who think "I'm adult so I must read smart novel".

The mystery is naive. Romance is probably the only thing keep me reading.

Author wants to make a smart adult character but failed miserably as all he can do is make that character talks as annoying as possible and said "I'm adult".

... more>> And next line, it's not normal to lose both parent in such a short time so I suspect her mu*der one of them?, That's the most s*upid line I've ever read for a long time.

20% of the text is pointless talk of said "adult", maybe to make him look smart or something?

If you love having bad guys doing villain laugh and speak evil just to be miraculously killed by protagonist after a heroic grand speech then this might be a good story for you.

But if you think that's childish then use your time on something else. <<less

I have to register to be able to tell how overrated this story is. Although the story makes to want to see through the end, it was boring throughout the story, and on top of that the ending does not satisfied how the story built up. The characters of both MC and heroine are also too vague, especially the MC, his character is not in any way lovable.

(I'll start with "I suck at reviews.") I got excited at first since MC wasn't the classic bland, dense Protag that's easily taken advantage of and has no personality whatsoever. I had hope that Tsukimori was more mysterious than she actually is, that Gekkou would focus more on the mystery than the romance (romcom). Maybe I just got the wrong impression of the beginning of the story, an impression that was different from what the author intended. I dropped it at the end of chp 6 as the initial... more>> interest waned and the story started to feel bland, I skimmed a lot around there. While I like anime, I don't like classic anime tropes or tsukkomis that can be overused in JP LNs, or light novels that try to go for that 'anime' feel. It's most likely just not my taste, and some people might be able to tolerate that for a hopefully decent ending, but I don't have that kind of patience. Overall, it started interesting, but went to a 'classic romcom, ' and even though it may change later on, and I liked some dialogue, I can't force myself to continue.

Spoiler

Not a spoiler, kind of random, more like a slight suggestion if someone wants a decent JP LN without too many tropes or a romcom. "Kamisu Reina."

It's a really great novel, awesome mistery, all characters keep their personality. The FL is overpower but I really liked it.

The main female is overpowered. And some parts egg me on.

For example when

when he was talking to the detective, he should've given him his theory, the MC got taken and lead by the nose since he asked her if she was looking for anything. Eventually, slowly but surely, like a neurotoxin, succumbing. That got on my nerves a little bit despite him being quite smart, if not smarter than the detective and the female lead (if, of course, she wasn't perfect in quite literally, everything).

This story is pretty simple, but it's a recommended read. It'd probably be an interesting experience for most people.

Put simply, the story has "how an unordinary person might interact with an extraordinary person and what might happen as a result" as an underlying theme as it tells the tale outlined above. It's executed fairly well.

Mystery aspect of the story is good but the story other aspect are on the downhill their are only two or three character worth mentioning in this, sometimes it is hard to understand what the protagonist is thinking and romantic encounters are nice but it is not good if you are reading it for the mystery aspect this is one of the best, but this story requires you to engrossed in it and you have to read it in go if you want to enjoy it as the plot thickens... more>> with every chapter. <<less
