Right when Drako Yau, the chairman and game designer of a game company, is about to release the open beta of the game which he has been developing for years, things go awry. Another company suddenly launches a game which can be played using the brainwave technology, Real World. The map, background, game mechanics, and many more; everything is almost identical to the game he has designed.

Out of curiosity and bitterness, he enters the game, only to find that he cannot log out of it. He has to struggle in what seems to be a game, with his life on the line.

Hello everyone, I'm SaltyTank, the translator of this series. I'll try to keep things as objective as possible; there's a reason I chose to license this novel and work on it.

While it might seem like your typical stuck-in-VRMMORPG novel at first, things start to get a bit more interesting after getting further into the novel. As our main character learns more about the game, he realises that the list of mysteries only gets longer and longer. The subtle hinting and foreshadowing makes the novel a bit dull at the early... more>> stages, but as we progress into the later chapters we'll be presented with a massive, intriguing world that has some very unexpected elements to it.

It should be known that this isn't a novel from China, but from Hong Kong. Does that mean anything to the readers? Yes, I personally think so, as the writing style and pacing are both quite different from mainstream game/fantasy world novels written by Chinese authors. Perhaps it might not fit everyone's taste, but I hope this novel can bring something new and refreshing to the table.

That wraps up my short review, and I hope all of you will enjoy it ^_^

I had to make an account just to write this review because the only 2 reader reviews I see are on chapters 3&4 and seems like they didn't give the story much of a chance.

I think this story is great so far! I have a few problems with the distances between things in the game world being unclear ... more>>
Spoiler

not spending very much time talking about how the main character plans to survive being trapped there, women falling for the MC way too easily just because he doesn't care about them for their looks, the main character getting exactly what he needs when he needs it and as someone else said the starter village not having a name is incredibly silly.

[collapse]

But for every small complaint there is something great! I am loving the side characters! Everyone is getting some time to shine and be a hero or do something that makes you love them. The plot has been really interesting. It feels more like a mystery novel using the devices and action of a vrmmo story to tell it. Giving you one big mystery from the start and slowly introduce and solve smaller ones while giving you details about the whole. I do hope the real world gets some more play though

The 10? (Idk if there are more 10 is the highest I have seen.) cities and it taking place after the 5th world war is super interesting.

I am not incredibly familiar with translation, but it doesn't feel bad to read. Worst I can say on that end is that, though rarely, its unclear who is speaking, but even then I could just be an idiot.

All in all I have really enjoyed what is out so far! And I have hope that I will continue to enjoy it based on the translators review at chapter 660. <<less

The only other reviewer seemed to love this, so it may have just been the translation quality as he was at C660 which he book isn't even translated to. I however, did not enjoy the story, the plot was interesting, but the story quality wasn't exactly bad, but the way it was written is very boring.

I've only read up to ch 4, but the game world that the "genus" MC made was extremely lackluster, it would be better as an single player game, because I can't see why "100 million" people would want play it, other then to experience the technology his "plagiarizer" made. In the information during the 4 chapters, it's basically an WOW wannabe, and the MC explains the random encounter system like it's revolutionary, even Skyrim has it.... more>>

and he doesn't name the starting village because it's basically an tutorial zone, it's not like the village is gonna be destroyed, it's an MMO, not naming it even though you can travel to it at any stage of progression in the game is unimmersive, maybe the "starting village" does get destroyed, I don't know, I'm in ch 4

I was interested in the premise, but... as of now, the story is boring.

It might be just me, but I think the pacing is all over the place. It's almost as if the author isn't really sure what to write. In the first few chapters, the protagonist:

Spoiler
    • got into a fight with some random guy suffering from young master syndrome (apparently he was the top dog in a game that was discontinued, so of course he picks a fight with the protagonist)
    • got into a fight with another random teen suffering from musclehead syndrome (apparently he just likes fighting and is also a martial arts fanatic)
    • got into a fight with a group of simpletons (he teamed up with the musclehead he fought previously to fight them)
[collapse]

All in all, I can't bring myself to give it a higher score. I find the characters (including the MC) particularly annoying and unbearable, I apologize.

I most certainly will change this if I ever decide to continue reading, but, at the moment, it will remain like this.
