The story is cute and fluffy. There is no drama. The thing I liked the most is how this story portraited different relationships and how the matter of having a previous relationship or having an ex was not made out to be a big deal. Yeah, there is no drama involved regarding that cliche stuff. Also, the way Yan Yu loves Chen Yifei (the ML) is very aggressive and cute XD And also the handle Yan Yu had on Chen Yifei from the being the boss! All around it was... more>> very cute.

The only thing I would like to point out is that the tags are wrong. Initially, I came for this story because the story had seme protagonist and straight seme protagonist tag. But I feel cheated because the tags are wrong. The MC Yan Yu is not straight seme. He is straight uke. And the ML Chen Yifei is the seme and he had an ex-boyfriend. So you get that the tags are misleading. But it was a happy accident I must say as I liked the story a lot.

So you can give it a go. It's short and a very cute light read! <<less

It's a good short novel. Can be finished in half a day. So give it a try, it would be worth it.

I read it via google translation after chapter 14th. Totally understandable.

Even though I recommend you to read this novel. But my review is honest and very critical and long so you might not like it.

He has a very lively personality. I liked him so much. He is very proactive. He likes to show off but he earned everything by his hardwork so has right to show off. He is really serious about his work and good at it.

He is total workaholic person. He likes to be a realistic person. He is no way comparable to the MC when it comes to romance. I can totally understand why his ex-boyfriend wouldn't feel freshness with him. Only a proactive person like the MC with unconditional love can handle such unexpressive lover.

Even though the MC find the ML perfect but he is not. He has rose tinted glasses for him.

【I personally don't like him. Maybe because I'm more into doting love interests.】

◆Romance

MC chased the ML. At the start I felt like MC was the one who gave in more, kinda feel that relationship was unbalanced with more efforts of the MC.

But it would be said that there were reasons for it like-

>They just started dating. Love comes with time.

>ML wanted to be equal to the MC. He considers MC better than him so wants to appropriate for him.

>ML is not as expressive as the MC.

But nevertheless you will feel that he does love the MC with the time.

So even with their own flaws, relationship is good.

There are 2 side CPs. I like them both. I specially liked the ex-boyfriend & college friend CP better. (Lol I don't remember the names anymore)

This is indeed a quick read. I love the flow of the story and there's little to no angst. The MC is also likeable. I don't quite like the ML though coz I generally go for doting and showy ml's and the ML in this novel is a bit cold for me. I also feel that the MC like him more than he likes the MC. I also find him too pragmatic when it comes to love so I question if he really fell for the MC or its just... more>> convenient. Not really the trope that I usually read but its still a great story. <<less

I need the smtty scenes asap!

Its short, its sweet, but I really don't like them both being in a relationship before. Maybe its just me who wants to live in an unrealistic world for a moment, but I don't like how the ML talks about his ex, specially the ones where the ex taught him what he knows about sx which was a downside for someone who's looking for a perfect love, reader like me.

But all in all, its alright. Its short so its a light read.

Read some negative reviews and was a little apprehensive starting this, but after reading I can safely say that although I understand where they're coming from, I disagree with the sentiment that ML doesn't care about the MC. Spoilers for this whole review I guess, but it's a short novel so what can you do.

First of all, I think the ML just has a more restrained personality than the MC. He doesn't act on his emotions right away and he's overall a very mature character. I think he actually provides... more>> a really good contrast to the MC, who is more emotion driven and very open about communicating his feelings. It's not quite right to say that ML doesn't care about the MC or doesn't love him, he's just more cautious with how he approaches relationships and he doesn't just jump into one without considering all the implications. After all MC is his boss, and also seemingly straight before confessing his feelings.

Since the bulk of the novel is in MC's POV, we're obviously going to believe that MC's feelings are genuine when he confesses to ML since we get a look into his mind, but for the ML, he has just admitted his sexuality, and then suddenly the other man is showing interest. It makes complete sense that he would be a little suspicious, or at the very least hesitant to just accept the MC right away. It's not even that long of a time that he thinks about it, and once they do get into a relationship, ML treats MC very well, doing all the things a doting boyfriend would do.

I think where this novel may fall short is that the author does a lot of telling rather than showing ML's feelings, which makes him feel less genuinely in love. We are told that ML has feelings for MC, but I honestly didn't really feel the extreme passion that I get from other romance novels. However, I think this is just how the ML is, as he doesn't seem like the kind of person who would feel things that deeply, and he's very good at managing the emotions that do come up. After all, when he thinks on his past failed relationship, the man literally has no emotions about it lol. There's a scene where he and his ex talk things out, but it's all very calm, and ML had no feelings of regret, shame, or anything. He's relatively cold for a character and he doesn't soften up too much over the course of the novel, which I would have liked to see. Still it's really down to whether MC feels loved and happy in his relationship, and he clearly does.

Overall would say this is more of a comedy slice of life than a pure romance, but that's not to say that the main couple isn't very cute together! They're definitely a good match, and I do like their relationship of spoiled president and quietly doting secretary. Both of them are quite competent at their jobs and they share similar priorities, and it was nice to see them talking through conflicts with maturity and truly caring about each others happiness. It's a short and sweet read, and if I had to comment on the side couples, I liked the one with the ML's ex and old college friend, but not really the one with the MC's friend and the policeman (honestly don't even remember how they met). Main couple definitely the best though! <<less

The fact that Chen Yifei reacted with that lack of trust and "he'll return on the right path" parts - it had me heartbroken. I believe, when you fall for someone, it's never out of nowhere. You like a person, then you find affection for that person, then it blooms into more, into love.

The "work is above his relationship with Yan Yu" or that teasing after their first time ??

I understand that some characters have this setup of a cold, not able to express tenderness etc but it felt like Yan Yu was a mere toy to him, a simple "oh okay, I'll be his boyfriend if he's that insistent". <<less

Nice short story!!

It's just that I liked MC more than ML. They are both 30+, so their view of love is different from someone who is in early 20s. So I found it difficult to understand them, but later as the story progresses we can see they are both young in their heart towards each other, so I kind of liked it.

ML is someone who had many relationships, whereas MC is not, so I always felt MC is at disadvantage cause ML always act like MC is also just one... more>> of them at the start. Later he will improve but I still felt MC is way more better. <<less

Really cute ❤️

I love how they didn’t necessarily like each other in the beginning and everything just progressed to them eventually being together.

I also like how the story described the MC as having to still work really hard as the chairman of his company. I also like how open the story is about them

I really liked the narrative and that the shou was such an active participant in establishing the relationship and ensuring it stayed in place even during difficulty.

Also, and I know this point is weird, I really liked seeing a character express "work relationships come before personal relationships".

I liked it from the start but not so much later. I don't feel CY emotions that much. Lol, I've read many cold and restrained personalities but I could still feel their emotions, so that's not an excuse. I don't think he liked YY that much. YY was cute. Maybe I could have felt it more with their s*x scenes but I wasn't able to access it, so I couldn't read them.

The other couples didn't interest me and the characters aren't that interesting or likeable. I don't know if it's... more>> the characters or the translation, their sentences usually comes out cold and mechanical.

Cute and very light read. ♥ (ˆ⌣ˆԅ) ALSO, not all people like PDA's, there are those who are very conservative BUT it doesn't mean that they love you less. I don't understand people not liking the ML because he's cold or something, imagine being lovey dovey in your work area with your boss, duh! He's in a very tight spot, he's the MC's secretary, he's already very discreet and yet people still has something to say behind his back. I like the ML and MC's interaction, it's not overly done. It was very simple without any dog blood drama, but still enjoyable. The side couple were unnecessary though.

P.s.: I read a lot of comments about ML being this and that, but, gosh, he is just a mature adult who understands the reality and the risks. Once you live long enough and have a few relationships it will never be the same as it was when you were 18 or 20 because you have more experience. So his attitude and position are quite normal for a 30 yo person. It's very cute simple novel and could be read in the free time.

It's a short story of 27 chapters and won't take much time. It's a pretty decent story and very warm and lovely.

I love the MC and ML was not bad but he was not my favourite type of person. I prefer the ML to be more bold, more strong, overbearing and obsessive.

Overall it was the decent story you guys could try it once.

The story is enjoyable thanks to the translator. They did an amazing job. Kudos to you translator. I like the MC very much Yan yu is a fun person, but for some reason I fail to connect with the ML. I don't feel his sincerity toward the MC. Like ZAVIRA had mentioned above. I have the same feeling. The ML didn't put much effort. I too, wanted him to suffer a little. Lol. So three star for the translator and the smut.

It was also mentioned that he had some rough time after 'coming out' before he patched things up with his family and yet, those families were never introduced.

One of the main reasons Chen Yifei rejected Yan Yu the first time he confessed was because he was afraid Yan Yu couldn't face society as their relationship was considered taboo in their country. But, Yan Yu, his family, and friends were cool with it while it seemed that Chen Yifei was the one struggling.

As the story and their relationship progressed, more characters were introduced which, I skimmed, mostly because I wanted the main couple. Not that the side couples weren't interesting but, they weren't as cute as the main couple.

Their relationship was a perfect balance because Chen Yifei was a perfectionist while Yan Yu was laidback. There wasn't much conflict as Yan Yu was always blunt and never kept a secret. In Yan Yu's eyes, Chen Yifei will always be the perfect Classroom President who could do anything. And it was sweet whenever we got tidbits of Chen Yifei's insight because it showed how important Yan Yu was to him. <<less

First of all, it’s really well translated. I don’t think it’s all fluff and bubbles, they have quite an adjustment period, which is definitely not always included and, I think it gave the relationship more depth. Both MC and ML are realistically portrayed, no overbearing CEO, with crazy possessiveness but more of two people truly learning to accept each other. I think is true that it’s a light read but not mindless one and just intimate enough. It’s a good short read.

The phrase of ML wanting MC to put work before him, and even explicitly thought that his position as mc's secretary is more important than as his boyfriend is really makes me hurt and dissapointed. Even I feel my heart chilled.

ML also barely put any effort for their relationship to the point I want him to suffer a bit (idk, like from jealousy, parting, or even love rival).

This novel is cute but I kinda feels that their interaction doesn't appeals me much

It's a relaxed recommended read. The short story is quite cute and realistic enough. Characters both have their strengths and vulnerabilities... I think well balanced enough. I enjoyed reading this novel in one go till the end but wouldn't reread. Smut scenes felt just so so... don't know if it's how original text is or it's 'cause of translation.

Right now I don't really like it much and the main MC Yan Yu kinda pisses me off, it's like he's so bitter at Chen Yufei cause he was better than him in school and maybe there is more to it but him disliking Chen Yufei and then finding ways to put him down or embarrass him stems from teachers making comparisons between them and a girl he liked liking Chen Yufei and none of that is Chen Yufei's like it's so irritating. It's an alright read.
