When Kiryu Ryuto opened his eyes, he discovered that he is the main antagonist in a dating simulator.

Coincidentally, his mission is to kidnap the heroine.

What surprised him was the fact that the heroine’s bodyguards were about to throw him into the Tokyo Bay as fodder for fish.

Wait a minute, am I really in a dating simulator? Why am I being drowned as soon as I crossed over to this world?!

“The world is hot and cold; people’s hearts are sinister, but only the most beautiful of girls can make people feel warmth.”
– Master of Death, Kiryu Ryuto.

I can only say the other reviewer has some sort of misunderstanding. This is not the slightest like a typical japanese romcom. Its an action novel written by a chinese that happens to be set in a japanese game. Anyways, alright heres a sort of summary TLDR i'll use for my list-

TLDR: Below-average smartness MC, interesting character dynamics, MC has godlike power in game world setting, decently written descriptions, 7 out of 10. Let's get this out of the way, the MC cannot die because he reloads at last checkpoint... more>> whenever he does. Time travel is one of the most insane overpowered abilities that someone could have, and it's great because this MC really needs it. I said he's average smartness because he literally is, average. He messes up constantly (and in s*upid, hot-blooded, short-sighted ways) cause he's facing enemies much smarter than him and instead of out-smarting them he relies entirely on his crutch of an overpowered ability. The characters are decently well written but the MC's reason for seeking the harem is flimsy at best. He literally only wants those specific girls because they're the heroines from the game, there is no other reason. They had zero interaction with each other but the MC refers to them as 'his concubine', which is quite shallow. Also since this is chinese theres a subtle anti-japanese sentiment but generally its rightfully said to be an individual's fault not a systemic failure. Generally. And thus overall this is a decently good novel, better than the vast amount of average (5 of 10) tr*sh, but its not a super great loss that this isn't being translated. I have dropped this novel at chapter 179, might continue some rainy day.

Alright now i'll elaborate a little on the points.

  • The MC is dumb. Very, very dumb compared to what you'd expect from him. He has lost every little bit of 'clarity' and 'presence of mind' that you would expect from a transmigrator, he's instead very hot-blooded. He scored close to 0 in the tests because I guess somehow even as a chinese student irl he was really s*upid. The 'he just didnt care about tests' explanation doesn't work if he's only smart enough to write his name. He gets entrapped and dies constantly, the only saving grace being that he reloaded from a checkpoint and thus won't mess up in that same way again.
  • The characters are the highlight of this novel, yet they get worse as time goes on. As mentioned earlier, his liking for the heroines is literally only because they are heroines from the original game and they look pretty, which couldn't have been more shallow. Also they adjust way too fast to his 'harem demand' like the author didnt want to write that whole arc.
  • Oh right, I should specify that no this is not a japanese romcom, this is more like an urban system novel with the MC facing against an insanely overpowered evil corp that wants to bring around the destruction of the world.
  • Also as I said, there is anti-japanese sentiment in this novel. Typical as that might be. Tho here its better written and often correctly points out that bad actors are not representative of the whole society, but it doesn't always make that proper distinction. Saying that its an american colony rather than its own nation.
  • Oh to again once again clear up the misunderstanding of the other reviewer. Maybe its the translation, but she didn't magically get "too tired" to speak but instead suffered from Hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar), because she's a diabetic patient. This was explained in the same line and its a very real thing. But in a twist of fate, it is correct that this doesnt get brought up later.
Overall, I mean, decide after the TLDR, its 7 of 10. Good enough. <<less

At first it seemed a little interesting with the system of going back to a point in time using money after dying. But a few chapters later it turned out to be just another "Japanese" romantic comedy with several misunderstandings, the author literally left the girl "too tired" to speak for no reason only for her guards to think the MC had done something to her... The guards actually tried to kill him, I didn't see what happens next, but I'm sure this assassination attempt will only be for "comedy",... more>> since it was a girl who tried to kill him...

I'll keep reading to see if I'm wrong, but for now my opinion is that this is standard Japanese romantic comedy, but made by a Chinese <<less
