Wei Jiajia opened her eyes and found herself in the early 1950s, just after the People’s Republic of China was founded. She blinked her bright eyes, pinched herself hard—yes, it was real… The original owner fainted from shock after losing both parents in an accident, and when she woke up, Wei Jiajia had taken her place… Looking at her caring family and finally experiencing the affection she had longed for, her guilty heart stirred! In this era where survival depended on connections, and with an imminent famine approaching, she glanced at her children at home and turned to look at her future husband behind her. Wei Jiajia: “I feel like crying…”

Male lead: Qiao Haoyu had known since childhood about his arranged marriage, but he had always been indifferent about it. He thought if he didn’t find someone he liked, marrying her wouldn’t be a bad idea, especially since his mother approved! But upon seeing Wei Jiajia for the first time, he understood what it meant to fall in love at first sight. “It’s so fragrant…”

It’s okay! Nothing exciting and nothing terrible. It follows the MC’s life through the time period. Very stereotypical period novel. It’s on the shorter side (for this type of novel) so there are time skips and it does glaze over a lot.

MC travels back in time into a young teen (with the same exact body as her) - we don’t get much info on the whys and hows behind this other than it might be due to a necklace. She has a magical space (I thought it would be expanded... more>> on more) but it’s more a convenience thing so that she lives well during the various struggles.

The relationship between MC and ML are quite sweet. She doesn’t tell him her secret but ML has figured out a lot. There isn’t much in terms of character growth. ML is extremely devoted and doting.

There doesn’t seem to be much childcare but there are definitely cute children. We do get follow ups on how the children (both MC’s siblings and children) end up.

My favorite part is that all the family members (blood or not) are quite loving and supportive of each other. There really isn’t much of any family drama.

Overall, not bad for a (relatively) short time travel reincarnation slice of life period novel. I’d recommend if you like these types of novels but don’t need anything super well written. It’s enjoyable for a turn off brain and superficially read. <<less
