words cannot describe how much I loved this novel! The relationship was written well and it had me hooked right from the start, not only that but the characters were so well written and its one of the few novels where I wish the side characters showed up much more.

if reading school, comedy bl novels is something you'd enjoy, then ur missing out on alot by not reading this one!!

Ok, the short version is : I reccomend it if you like slice of life esque comedy stories, and slow build romance.

So. I adore this story. I've reread it three times now, and I loved it every time. Like, slice of life isn't actually my thing, but I still loved this all the same?

Xie Yu is a pretty cliche character (silent cool type) but I appreciate the small unique characteristics that the author gave him (his godly luck) and he was never a bore to read nor had I ever... more>> lost interest in him while reading. On the other side, He Zhao is a character I find very refreshing and fun (?) I can't explain it in words, but I found him very funny and just plain interesting to read (the way he reacts and does normal day to day activities is just so... wow???).

Their interactions are where it is at. My favorite trope is "they act like a couple, but they aren't actually a couple" and this novel nails it to a T. Not only that, their interactions are always super fun and hilarious to see unfold.

The side characters (their friends, teachers, and even 'antagonists') are also quite memorable. I did not have a single problem trying to recall which character was which, and that's a complement (especially for chinese novels).

The pacing is pretty slow (much slower than most novels I would be reading), but I found myself not noticing while reading. I didn't mind the slow pacing because I enjoyed the journey and the way it was translated made it felt pretty compelling. Though I get how it could be too slow for some people (tip : don't read it all in one sitting, it will get boring that way).

Some people would find stories about high school life boring (and I get that) but I read this right when the pandemic hits and I lost two years of my High School to it... I guess you can say I was nostalgic for my high school years and that's why I liked it so much?

It was a surprisingly nice read. The story was unique and interesting. There are a lot of novels about school life and genius students, but I have never read about MC and ML, who were so determined and worked hard to take last place, not only in the class but in a whole grade. I loved the MC's and ML's characters and their interactions. MC and ML figured out their filings pretty fast, accepted them without panic, and got together easily. The fact that they liked people of the same s*x didn't bother any of them, which was also pretty unique for this kind of story. Side characters are hilarious too. Interactions and relationships between characters were heartwarming. The atmosphere that is created in this novel is wonderful.

This story has a perfect pace; things are not dragged out, and there were many funny parts, yet there were serious and sad moments too. I really loved it and would recommend it to other readers too. <<less

Ok, so I don't know what to say so I'll be short, I'm still reading this and to be frank I love it. It's slow but I'll bear with it for a while. I'm interested in stories like this and can't wait to see how the relationship between the MC and ML will turn out, I am always fond of tropes like this and I am enjoying the story so far. But how slow it is just can't compare to my patience but I'll continue to read it.

This is a really beautifully written high school romance. It is really funny but heartwarming one. It breaks through the class system that rich only like rich or rich people only get along with rich people and also the ranking system that top graderes usually associate themselves with those from the top and so on. It's not at all cliché and really interesting. Each characters are given character trais unique to their own. He Zhao and Xie Yu are really cool (? 😂) Or in the words of their school... more>> mates real tyrants of East and West buildings who always score last and second last. But it's just for those who with this fear of their outlook don't dare to associate with them. Xie Yu after a while understood the burden of slackerdom. Gradually they, especially Xie Yu found themselves surrounded by group of people who treat them same in all situations and will be together with them for a long run. He Zhao has a lively character in the front but is like a beast caged inside who others won't dare anger. On the other hand, Xie Yu is like a cold block of ice to whom others won't dare get close to but has a soft side hidden for only those who dare to know him. He Zhao is talkative and interactive while Xie Yu won't give a sh*t to anything and anyone. Although they are like this but with their looks and charisma people can't help but look in their direction more than once. The other characters like those people from Black Water neighborhood Xie Yu is close with, the students of class 2.3, the teachers of ErZhong, Madam Gu, Old He and others are those characters that make the story lively and give it a soul in addition to these two big brothers.

Theyre making me love everyone (except for that dog zhong jie) more and I cant bear to move on with this book. this novel was actually so lovely. It didnt drag out unnecessarily long like a lot of others, and it wasnt a painfully slowburn. It's something I feel can be reread again and still enjoyed in the future.

Just finished it after many many nights of insomnia. What can I say?
It's very slice of life, with a humorous cast, and the dynamic between the main duo is just plain amazing. I loved the side characters as well, although I feel like there could have been a few more things added. I think it would be better if some of the side characters appeared more and were explained better like Xie Yu's dad who who never really knew about except for a few facts. Also, I think Xie Yu's backstory was never really explictly stated with details, so maybe something more clear and with substance for that.

Apart from that, I think it's a great comfort story to read on a bad day to just help relax a bit. It's just a cute little novel about two immature teenagers growing up and falling in love (although it's a tad unrealistic, the parts with the app was really fun for me to read). Personally I felt like it deserved a 4.5 because it's a great read for people who are into that type of stuff, but personally I like my books with a bit more action and fantasy elements, and because of the side characters which I think could have been expanded on more.

Overall, I do recommend reading this book if you enjoy lighthearted books that are just sorta fun to read without any MAJOR drama or cliches like oh no love rival, oh misunderstandings and breakups everywhere, etc. It's just tooth-rottingly sweet and enjoyable.

Here's my review fresh off my head after just finishing ch.112. I feel obligated to say that this novel was just as I had anticipated. Ever since finishing 'A Certain Someone' back in june, I became totally obssessed with slice-of-life/school-life romance. This novel wasn't as heartrending and in-depth with the attachments that Xie Yu and He Zhao both had in respect to their families and upbringings (not as dysfunctional LOL). This is right up my alley. Three words: wholesome, adorable and hilarious.

A teens' slice of life. Some were swept under the rug but it was a very satisfying read. The pacing is slow but when I reached the end, it felt too fast! I want to know more about their university life, marriage and welp, I did not expect I would love to see more interactions between Class 3. They were as tight as thieves! A very worth envy bond.

It was not heavy, the misunderstandings were resolved but I kind of still felt unfair for the ones who got punished for being a student with bad grades. Thank goodness, only two teachers (the one who expelled He Zhao's friend) and Xia gal who got petitioned) were from a spoiled egg. I hope the Zhong Jie would find closure aside from his fear of He Zao, seriously, I know his loss was probably not handled well but he also did not try to see the happiness of his father and Madam Gu.

Can I just say I got a little bit teary when their homeroom teacher tried his best until the end to "help" Xie Yu and He Zhao? They were considered as bad seed, delinquent, but he still tried his all to understand and motivate them. I no longer want to know why he transferred, I just know that he's a good person.

A good slice of life story. It start slow, then becoming more interesting & funny as the story progress. MC is an ice cube in an unfortunate circumstances that leaves him no choice but be a fake bad student, while ML is a free-spirited, happy-go-lucky man who hid a wound inside his heart that makes him choose to be a fake bad student. The pacing is nice, the conversation is funny, the characters growth is inspiring. A feel good story not to be missed.

Ahm, if you love fluff stories with a bit of slice of life I think you'll enjoy this. As for my part, I actually love those themes but probably it's my preference's fault since I didn't enjoy this as much as others.
