One day, her father gave her a sl*ve boy. He said he saved him from the battlefield because of his good looks.

“He has a seal engraved on his heart. As long as you have this bead, he won’t be able to disobey you. So you can order him to do anything.”

“Sit down.”

The boy looked rather grim after hearing what she ordered.

“Ah, was I treating him too much like a dog?” As her father squeezed the bead, the boy then knelt at her feet.

“Master”

His red eyes flashed, illuminating his eerie gaze while smiling madly.

He was the darkest of the darkest one. The future grand wizard and final boss of this world.

“Well, you’re all that’s left now, Master.”

And then, at the age of 22, he awoke as the Master of the Magic Tower and took revenge by killing her entire house.

“Do you want to live? Then sit down, Master.”

The eerie red eyes turned to her.

‘Why is he like this to me?! I tried my best to treat him properly!’

The ML and FL both went through a heck of a lot of abuse. Mental, physical, emotional. They're both very broken people, and once they leave the setting of the abuse, they don't exactly understand how the world operates outside of each other.

I honestly really like this series. It doesn't write off the characters' trauma and instead plays it straight. Different people have different strengths, and I find it really refreshing to read something that explores how a somewhat stereotypical godawful childhood (for these sorts of KR transmigration novels at... more>> least) can warp a person. Not everyone can just shake that kind of thing off--we're not always all so resilient.

The MC is apparently coming off as not having a personality to some other readers? If you read far enough, you realize she is NOT a reliable narrator. She has very powerful abilities but is certainly not a Mary Sue. She was also punished for things like displays of kindness or emotion, which understandably makes someone less likely to show their actual personality.

Anyways, the bottom line is that the translation is awesome, the chapters are released very regularly, and the story itself is a dark and really interesting exploration of trauma in a fantasy setting. There's not much in the way of romance or even s*xual tension at this point, if that's what you are looking for. But the ML is definitely a yandere... in a way that actually makes sense to me for once. Give it a read, and try to make it through the first 30 chapters or so before tossing in the towel. It's worth it. <<less

Look, the Yandere male lead here is sooo good, like damn good because it's literally a real yandere and not a half bake. like, he's gonna terrify you and give you uncomfortable feelings which is how should feel with a yandere. b*tches commenting how the male lead is unlikeable are dumbass kids. He's a villain and a yandere, so wdym?? Hello? Brain??? it is so annoying bc there's almost little legit/true content about them that people think they are built half assed. No, susan! Get down of ur unicorm and... more>> touch some grass bruh.

Anyways, what puts me off so much I had to remove a couple of stars in the rating is the female lead. How she was created and thought of by the author was just plain dumb. I had to roll my eyes at least 5x every chapter becuase of her. I hate how people uses non existent fake mental issues to validate their cringe actions. <<less

ML is a possessive, mentally unstable pretty boy, the deepness of his character is about a nanometer.
If you enjoy brainwashing, sadistic atmosphere im sure this is for you.
The FL is emotionless trainwreck from the abuse of her Father (wow something new, im I right?)
By "leaving" her sad excuse of a father, she gets to go (forced, imprisoned, taken again her will) to the lovely ML.

While reading you just wish a hero would come and cut the ML into little tiny slices.

I think the best part of this story is that it shows that trauma doesn't go away just because a pretty face falls in love with you. Those who are here for a light-hearted, everything-is-good-and-nice-in-the-world story, this is not for them.

This story is dark, and delves deep into the long-lasting effects abuse can have on a person, or people, since both the ML and MC are broken beyond repair. For now, the romance is negligible and it shows the MC and in some ways, the ML, trying to survive and... more>> navigate the world after the shackles are suddenly removed. This is a very intriguing read and I'm looking forward to further developments very much. <<less

Warning for readers - This novel is full of insane characters. Most coz they are greedy and corrupt. MC and ML coz of long term abuse. Nevertheless, it doesn't change the fact that ML is trigger-happy and will gruesomely kill many coz they irritated him. Or the fact that MC, despite being reborn from the modern real world into the novel, will display no moral/ ethical views and will use anyone to safeguard herself.

And that's why I loved this novel. It's a no-bullsh*t sort of novel. MC is not portrayed... more>> like some Mother Teressa despite being horrifically abused. She is damaged. Same for ML. He is not a 'misunderstood' villain who is actually a hero. He is a villain and doesn't hold normal views against killing/ mu*der/ arson/ torture.

If u r here for normal characters - Shoo! Go away!

If u r here for great characters - Go ahead! Enjoy the ride. <<less

It's almost completed, but anyway here's why it deserves 5/5 stars.

Btw, for those reviews who read less than 80 chaps and gave a low rating... They really don't grasp the whole situation yet, they can't see the beauty of this novel.

*Ehem* Anyway

... more>> My first impression of this novel is like " damn. He's the ML? How's he ever gonna redeem himself with the way he's so crazy and psychotic?"

"Will he be alright as the ML?"

"Should I drop this?"

And when I read more and more and more, I realized that those were just useless thoughts.

Because this novel is BRILLIANT

And the more I read it, the more I realized that he doesn't need to redeem himself.. he just needs to learn and grow more.

My thoughts about ML and FL's personality:

Spoiler

A person who was raised in a bird cage and constantly harassed and abused every time is more likely bound to have mental scars and personality disorders.

That's why I can understand why the ML and FL are like two broken crazy machines.

As their cage gets broken, they get to discover a bigger world than what they were used to, and that's when their personality development blossomed. They learned how to sympathize, to care, to value life, to understand other human emotions and.. well, to love :)

[collapse]

What they needed and thoughts about Reinhardt:

Spoiler

What they both needed was just proper guidance and teach them about the world. That's why I love those handsome Dukes (Leon and Carlon (??) for taking care of the two leads and showing them that there's more to the world than just 'give and take'. There's still kindness, and warmth, and compassion.

I guess I understood why Valetta never hated Reinhardt because she knew that they were the only ones there for each other. They knew each other best.

Even if Rein kept being a psycho and you'd think 'will he kill her?', Reinhardt is actually a bit better on the inside.

[collapse]

More info about Reinhardt:

Spoiler

He doesn't kill for no reason because he doesn't want to be hated by Valetta. He cares for her more than anything and is just cruel to people who treat her recklessly.

Yes, this novel is overflowing with madness when you look at it from the outside. But if you look a little closer, you'll see that it's not that bad. It's actually really enjoyable. I gotta give props to the author.

[collapse]

Overall:

This author is probably the only author I've ever found that could convince me to embrace insanity and madness and I'd gladly do it.

Sometimes, a kind and righteous lead isn't what the story needs. It's great because the leads are people who are just so broken and just struggle to find peace in life.

In a world where greed, lust and envy is thicker than smog, they try their best to change and become better people and adjust to the world around them.

They just wanted peace and just a comfortable home together. In this kind of world, sometimes to defeat and kill a psychotic bastard, you'd need someone even crazier, it's like extinguishing fire with even greater fire, and I Love that ahaha

the writing is great, no.. it's more than great. There's no words I can find to describe it.

The author really is so detailed about how the character's minds work and how they came to develop that kind of mindset. The character development is also *chef's kiss*

keep up the good work author!!!! <<less

The story is very good and I really like the flow of the plot. The MC is kind, beautiful, and cautious while the ML is a deceiver in order to survive and have a yandere personality. Both of them are intelligent and powerful as the MC is a known alchemist and hidden spirit user and the ML is in fact a king of tower (a magician). I really hate the scum father of the MC, an alpha male to point of when he demands something punishment would be incur if... more>> not abided. Moreover, I am very excited to what the next chapter of the novel would reveal towards the relationship of the main characters since the ML have a tendency to do bad things and be obsessive to the MC while the MC is wondering how she would free herself from the grasp of ML. <<less

I really enjoyed this. FL is intelligent and is definitely interesting. She is very very cold and indifferent, and therefore doesnt try hard to save people. She also has a nice amount of trauma that stops her from getting close to people. ML is a psycho, which is my fav type of character.

Their relationship is actually quite well developed. Their dynamic actually works suprisingly well and is understandable considering how they met and interact with each other. I imagine the FL is going to get a lot of character depth... more>> as something regarding that has been recently introduced.

To defend the FL from other commentors, this is what I have to say. A lot of people have said that FL has no personality and I disagree. She's insanely cold after being abused and being essentially put into what she considers to be fiction. She doesn't bother getting close to people and doesn't even remember people's names. She's indifferent to her surroundings but it also quite intelligent and has a good understanding of the people around her. She never had the ability to nourish her personality, and this is honestly a lot better than having a typical character that is sensitive after being abused as this one is a lot less explored by novels in general. People also say FL is useless and doesnt try hard to protect her but I feel like saying that does FL massive injustice. She doesn't care about them and states explicitly that she just doesnt want it on her conscience, once she's done enough there's no need for more. She is not a hero.

I definitely enjoyed this but it is quite twisted. If you dont like that or cant cant handle it, dont read this expecting that its gonna be your cup of tea. <<less

I didn't mind the cruelty or the real yandere boy but it's chapter 30 and I can't feel any character out of anyone besides ML. (Even that's questionable.) They are either too dense, too overpowered, or just shallow. There is a lot of inconsistency in their actions too. Also, I really don't like when the authors separate FL and ML for too long. Since the story didn't fascinate me much either, I've decided to drop this.
Originally I'd give this story 2 stars then I remembered these:
Spoiler

Imma rant about this part because it just annoys me. After ML abducted her to the magic tower, her life was a pure blessing. How could you ask for more when you're in heaven. I know there needs to be trouble for the further plot but she's dense enough to live with her abusive father for years, she could take a long break there easily without giving a single shıt about anything... Even the story is not loyal to its characters.

The tower is introduced as this mysterious place that a mere human can't get in or out easily... She's out from the glass room next chapter, back to outside in another.... Supposedly you can't do alchemy inside either but surprise surprise our FL can do that only with half chapter of effort.

When ML abducted the FL, they arrived outside of the floating castle. Then it was explained that only the magic users can enter the castle by casting a flying magic. After that chapter, everybody is in and out by teleporting.... Author! Decide on your shıt!

Anyway, these inconsistencies made the story 1 star.

Poor character work. Unstable setting. Unlikable MC.

I'm fine with trigger happy Yanderes and apathetic MCs, but the characters here are written so poorly and their motivations so vague. Especially the MC, she's sympathetic when the plot needs her to be and apathetic when the plot needs her to be. In one of the chapters she tells her child companion, that the reason her and the ML cannot be friends is because she cannot accept his violence (set up proves other wise), while he cannot understand her "sense of justice."... more>> I literally lost it and started writing this review. No where prior to this chapter did the MC show that she had a sense of justice.

I apologize for the rant. But the story relies heavily on telling while showing exactly the opposite. Character growth is non-existent, especially the MC changing character to suit the plot.

If you like Male Yandere novels, there are many alternatives out there. I usually even with bad novels judge them for what they are, guilty pleasure novels. This actually deserves the one star rating. I'd recommend wasting time on a better novel.

On the side note, the transition is good and the translator is regular and thus the one star. Translation takes a lot of time and effort so this is not a critique on the translation. <<less

Yandere stories are pretty tough to pull off without going full Stockholm syndrome. I actually enjoy how gently the MC treads in. Her new situation. She tries to make changes, but everyone ignores or abuses her so she just shuts down all emotion since she knows ML is homicidal and will wipe them all out. She is very capable in various powers but seems emotionally bland (probably due to serious depression). I don't think she's a weak character but I could see people not liking her. Overall I really enjoy... more>> it and am hoping she can somehow fight back against reinhardt <<less

Sum: Valletta Delight is a reincarator who is an origin backstory character for the villain Reinhardt. She grows up in her abusive household trying to distance herself from Reinhardt while he also suffers his own abuse. After her 20th birthday, Reinhardt enacts the book's massacre of her household except she isn't killed like in the book, instead Reinhardt is obsessed with her.

The Main Characters:

Valletta Delight is an interesting character. I read a lot of yandereXheroine stories and it's nice seeing one where the heroine isn't a "pure reasonable person". Valletta... more>> is emotionally closed and distant because her father used her to impress social circles with her alchemist abilities and abused her behind the scenes to make her a perfect puppet. She doesn't get involved with others, she only thinks of her own well-being and is very disconnected from the troubles that happen to others around her. But Valletta is also a very proactive character, she thinks directly about what she wants and how to achieve it. Valetta takes action when the moment is right or when she has more power in her favor. If she falls short somewhere she tries to educate herself about it and isn't giving up her freedom even with the powerful wizard Reinhardt watching her or the kingdom trying to monopolize her.

Faults: I think it will depend on the reader, for her fault is she isn't a great person. Valetta isn't an easy person to like, her upbringing really ruined her empathy, and she isn't grateful for the kindness of others for she just sees it as another manipulation. I find it interesting but she can come off as very mean and unlikeable.
Spoiler

Also Valetta is a different character from the original since she has alchemist abilities that the original didn't have. Because of that, she is an even larger character than the original being the prince's fiance. Also she is very OP but that's a thing with a lot of novels.

[collapse]

Reinhardt is the evil yandere type. Thinks nothing of others and that destroying the world would be fun thing to do. Will stalk, manipulate, and corner his love interest but won't physically hurt them. (Except that one time he used the s*ave enchantment to prevent her first escape). Loves that Valletta is broken like him, both suffering in the same household. He also found it interesting that she knew to fear him from the beginning of childhood when she encouraged him to escape to her teens when she begged her father to abandon him.

Milrode the county prince and Valetta's fiance. The beloved golden prince who wants to save Valetta from Reinhardt but is surprised that not only does she ask him to stop but she does not return his affection. He had this image in his mind that Valetta was a quiet girl who was shy about their engagement, so when she rejects him he is confused. Everybody admires him, he's a good person, and thus the trail of his own obsession begins. (Milrode was a supporting character in the org novel.)

Therion Leon is a kid Valetta pick up during a mission to prevent an event that happened in the original book. She wanted to drop him off somewhere after escaping Reinhardt but Therion refuses to leave her side. When she realizes he is the hero Reinhardt would torment in the future she is even more annoyed she got stuck with more problems.

SHOUT OUT TO
Spoiler

Carlon Delphine: The man who runs the underground alchemy scene, giving Valetta shelter and safety from the prince. He also mentally adopted Valetta and is my favorite character along with Leon who also mentally adopted Valetta and joined in Delphines attempts to put some soul back in this empty person. Delphine is also very soft but cautionate with Reinhardt and thinks they are both similar and sorry children.

Really well written and translated, makes your heart hurt and your fists clench. It's refreshing to see this kind of relationship between a yandere and their target written out like this, the FL doesn't love him and he more needs her than loves her but they understand each other more than anyone else could because of everything they've been through.

It's also portrayed well, both main characters are very well written; some of the side characters not so.

But if you're looking for romance, this isn't the place.

This book is well done. The book in itself is a fairly heavy read. You will hate the ML in the beginning and even at ch 62 I still have my doubts about him, but you learn about the kind of person he is and why he acts the way he does.

I am actually happy the Author took time to think about how the main characters would behave after all the abuse they have been through (A lot of novels have the main characters bounce back after leaving the... more>> place of abuse). This story shows that it takes time to heal.

I have read reviews that say the MC is useless, and in the beginning I thought she was. At first I thought "why didn't she do this instead?" or "Why didn't she run?", but most of her actions and reasoning start being explained when the Duke shows up. You realize that she was continuously given hope than had it ripped from her which in turn made her start to give up on trying and made her distance herself from the people and the truth. The MC herself has a lot of flaws which is quite refreshing.

This book is definitely not for everyone, but for some it is a really good book! <<less

I quite like this. It takes a bit, but it hits you hard when you realize just how broken the ML and FL are. They certainly are made for each other, and their crude little support system is beautiful in many ways. The fall of the crown prince is quite believable to, and really goes to show how easily you can be influenced by those around you.

I enjoy reading this one. I like the relationship between the leads and how it came to be. I don't find the attachment weird at all after everything they've been thru.

Even with the abuse they experienced in their childhood I don't think they turned out that bad as adults tho lacking in some aspects, they can still learn and Valletta is trying.. She's no damsel in distress. She can stand on her own and work hard for what she wants or need. Reinhardt is not a lost cause. He's no... more>> villain to me in this story.

If there should be one, it's the emperor. His story with lagris and elise is also quite messed up. I can't sympathize with the lovers tho. <<less

I was avoiding reading this because of the synopsis & reviews but I eventually got curious enough to try reading it & I LOVE IT!

The FL is incredibly relatable, well written, & heartbreaking. The ML isn't what I was expecting at all but I actually adore him.

He truly sees and understands the FL as she does him and despite their awkward circumstance I think they would be a good couple or friends. The premise was pretty interesting. I've seen transmigrators deliberately get close to villains, avoid them at all cost, discover that supposed villains are actual sweethearts and proceed to "protect" 'em or maybe they're actually bad and try to "save" them... Anyways, most have that sickly sweet shoujo vibe so this novel was like a breath of fresh air.

I'm saying "was" 'cause a novel could only be this butchered. Characterization was one hell of a mess.

MC and ML... I don't get them, really. One day they claim to completely understand each... more>> other, the other day they are no better than strangers; she's supposed to be numb to all but actually hates when ppl die when she didn't have such problems before? Suddenly so compassionate, a natural animal rights protector, a ray of sunshine... Well, ML isn't any better, he's the watered-down version of MC.

For a novel that deserves a "psychological" tag, charas were way too shallow and edgy. Those that can be "saved" are so easy to open up, kinda pure ones can just as easily "blacken". So... *sighs*

I also don't like the sheer amount of cringe talk about MC and ML's mental state. Like, I'm forced to try to survive through " (s) hes (br) ok (en) " kinda talk every 2-3 chapters bruh. It's not like those talks hold much meaning either, it's just there to make you regret the first time you read web novels.

In conclusion, bloody hell mate, I just want to disappear.

P.s: After b*tching around so much, I forgot to mention that translation is good lol, now I'll disappear for good. <<less

The themes of this story is dark. I am currently at a part the theme of healing from deeply rooted trauma is starting to show up. Both the MC and ML are the result of their environment and it's absolutely devastating. I feel my heart aching every time MC is unable to accept a simple gesture of kindness without thinking that she needs to pay it back. Her personality is well developed and too realistic for me. I was looking for a brain dead fluffy romance and did not expect... more>> this story to go down this path. It's a great story but would require patience.

Edit: I saw some reviews talking about the MC having no character. I personally disagree with that. Her sheltered and extreme guarded personality may make it seem like she has 'no personality'.

Spoiler

During her early childhood, she was forced to kill a puppy that she grew fond of. She refused to do so. Her father in turn ensured the puppy died a cruel death. Around chapter 50, she finds a resemblance between the og ML who depended on her and the puppy. She obviously did not want to feel get hurt again and thus she treated the og ML coldly. She knew the ML was deranged and she was targeted by people who wanted to use her alchemy, so she thought it was inevitable for the ones she was connected to to get hurt

[collapse]
Spoiler

She has little to zero common sense but thats due to the fact that she was not allowed to go outside, was treated like a circus clown at banquets, abused, and had no one to really teach her things that weren't 'useful' for alchemy.

[collapse]

Spoiler

She knew the fate of the people under the Count and all the horrible things they've done. Although she tried to stop them when she was younger, she did not have the authority or power to do so. Years pass she becomes desensitized (which is normal because it literally was something that occurred daily in her house and she was also a victim). The only thing she had control over was her emotions so she guarded them. Locked them away would probably be more fitting. Im hoping she heals and open her heart again.

[collapse]
Anyway I can't seem to like the ML at all. His heart is so twisted that I can't find any sort of justifications for his later actions. Its the first time I've read a great book with a bad ML.
Spoiler

I specially cannot handle it whenever he mentions wanting the MC to be a complete doll that only had him. He wants her to be so broken down by everyone around them so that she can only turn to him. God I despise that so much. I am a sucker for possessive/obsessed ML but not this one.

[collapse]

The tragedy tag is killing me right now. I guess im dropping the novel 😭 <<less

FL's hella useless. It's actually aggravating how in her mind she kept saying "I did everything I could", "I told them not to bully him", "I asked father to send him away" as if all of that was enough to prevent the ML from doing the massacre. She already knew the future so it would've been nice if she made some plans before hand and not just waited for the ML to explode.

Man, I have to drop this. Her uselessness is so annoying to me. Even add to the fact... more>> that she thought "I should atleast survive" when she did NOTHING to assure her survival.
