There was a kingdom in which [magic] and [monsters] existed. The Azolias Kingdom.

However, the administrator of the kingdom and his family were often gossiped about.

“The one who controls the kingdom behind the curtains,”
“She acquired her beauty by making a contract with a demon,”
“He is making a crime syndicate,”
“Swinging a demon sword that will even cut the soul,” etc.

The citizens were ignorant and often uninvolved in politics. Therefore, such rumours scared them.

However, the rumours were not true at all. Even though their appearance was a bit suspicious, the Ractos Household was a heartwarming household.

I have great hopes for this novel, bad rumours, stereotype bad outside, strange behaviour from outsider perspective, those are traits accompanying the family of four, but are they as evil as people think? Only time will tell, but I hope it will be as good as tale of Scary Angel named Seiichirou Kitano, literal devil of pure heart of Angel Dansetsu, if you want to see what this novel could hope to present then take a look at the manga.

With great expectations, Sordahon.

From the cover and title, I was expecting an evil household. It turns out the household is misunderstood and the family is aware of it as well. The combination of the family's appearance and idiosyncrasies, commoners and lower nobels see the family as evil. Since the family are not idiots, like similar misunderstandings genre type stories, it makes the story funnier. Hopefully, it continues to be translated.

I usually dislike novels in which the premise is a misunderstanding, because the author tries to push the MC as a brain dead idiot for the sake of keeping the misunderstanding, but I'm happy with this novel and have great hopes for it as the author show us the main characters struggling against those assumptions, which is a nice twist for this kind of novel, all in all would recommend.

This is a fine story that put your funny bone to the max XD

Characters all are good and funny with much a handful bread basket.

Yeah they look evil, sound evil, but no, they're just good people that any folks around.

... more>> But misunderstanding spouse up as them as sort evil incarnate XD

Especially the Duke of the household which promptly to anyone and readers insight as big fat ass ugly noble as evil familiarity. Really don't go sorting out the man instantly foresaw as evil like that. It can't be helped as his face was born like that. You'll hurt his feelings and because of that hurt the country economics where he lived, hahaha.

Everyone in the family is already adapted to their outlook. The Addams Family in the fantasy world, bwahahaha!!

This is pure gold. I guaranteed you ;) <<less

The setup is similar to 'Angel Dansetsu' manga with most people thinking the family members are as evil as they look. Interpreting all their actions through the lens of them hinting to some evil action and refusing to believe they are normal or trying to do something good. The main difference is that 'Angel Dansetsu' cranked up the reactions to 11, while 'Evil-like Duke Household' is sitting at a 7.

The first few chapters are introducing a family member and then giving an outsider's counter point to that member so you... more>> get the feel of each family member. The chapters are short, like 4-6 pages, there's no real plot line as of yet (ch19), just intros and slice of life.

Rating: 3/5 It's hard to say if this will turn out to be good. The characters are interesting enough but the writing really hasn't grabbed me. The introduction of some interesting plot lines could kick this up to being something special, but it could also easily just become a rather droll story. <<less

Overated again. My own rating is 3 stars but I'll give it a 2 now for balance.

Now let's talk about it.

This novel is about multiple POVs -I mean with no end- each chapter is a POV of someone different, true it's unique (for my experience) but at some point it gets taxing when the story is about trivial things and trivial characters.

The comedy is at best average (you'll give a small laugh here and there), nothing special, the result of lack of common sense and s*upidity of the characters (the... more>> goal of the story, I'm not saying it's bad). But that's it, nothing captivating or interesting and eventually it becomes boring.

This story will be good as an anime but for a novel nope, also it's a Shounen (it was not tagged, the reason I guess I got tricked). <<less

Ezra is my fav xD Peeps forgets that she's a young Lady.

Grammar: 3.5/5

Writing: 4.5/5

... more>> Story: 4/5

This series is legit Comedy Gold. The grammar is fairly good, though there are a lot of typos. A few places could be worded better, but it's difficult to translate jokes from one language to another so I appreciate the effort the Translators put in to make this as funny as it is. The writing style of the author is great, the leadup to punchlines are awesome. The story is something I haven't really seen since the Adams Family, so I'm loving it for the nostalgia and the fresh comedy thrown in instead of the bland thematic 'comedy' found in the Adams Family.

Overall, a very great series to read for the laughs and giggles. <<less

Heart-warming and funny

Read translations up to ch 17 and continued with google translate after that, which should tell you how much I enjoyed reading this to put myself through that brain contortion excercise.

The Ractos family of kind-hearted, misunderstood, but only slightly Addamsian people live their lives in Azolias, through triumph and some tribulation. The sinister-looking finance administrator of the kingdom, the bewitchingly beautiful mother with a cooking hobby and pet spider, the schemer-looking magician son, the hotblooded muscle idiot of a daughter clad in black armor, the supreme war hero... more>> sorcerer grand father who was the subject of a one-man proliferation treaty, etc. Etc. Are all good people plagued by misunderstandings and people fearful of them if they don't know them.

Funny, heartwarming and probably most concentrated at its heart around romance, especially that of Jake and his potential fiancée, Annesse.

The biggest problem is that it's an ensemble cast story so it can be a bit tough to get into it at the start when all the characters are introduced. <<less

A nice read. I usually enjoy misunderstanding type stories but a few of them really tries to push the braindead MC sometimes which makes the story frustrating to read.

This one however does not. Its a nice lovely story which shows how the family sticks together even with all these misunderstandings and pushes each other forward. There are 1/2 characters which kinda grates on my nerves sometimes but its pretty easy to skim past their stories. Lol

Every chapter is a POV from a different character and it helps with the storytelling.... more>> Def recommendation if you enjoy these misunderstanding type stories. <<less

Ok so I want to predice that 3 stars doesnt mean this is a bad story infact I'd recommend it for new readers and those that want a break from the long time intensive saga's, though it is by no means a master peice.

This novel is a decent slice of life focused on a family that gets misunderstood dude to a verity of reason, it is litterally the premise and the driving force for the whole plot of this story, it is both its strength and its weaknesses in some... more>> respects, it's the best possible example of a one trick pony.

Despite its lack of intrigue and major plot points, the characters are quite likeable and make the story worth reading.

The issue I have with this story is the writing style, each chapter is from the perspective of a different character which isnt bad I enjoyed it, but the way the author introduced each chapter was less than perfect and the writing style mirrored that in several places, even taking into account the translation.

But overall it's a nice story that is worth a read. <<less

This is "The Munsters" (60s TV show) but as written by a Japanese guy in a medieval... renaissance?? setting.

If you liked watching "The Munsters" AND you like anime tropes, specially those in a fantasy setting, you're gonna love this story

Felt like an 8 year old watching reruns of my favorite show in nick at night...

... more>> I really don't know how to explain this better than that, it's got the same energy and misunderstandings as that show... oh... I guess I could point out a bit about the writing, right??

It's got a great pacing, it's got competent worldbuilding and the tone is perfect.

what else?? mmm... nothing much, I think it's one of those stories you really have to dive in to see if you enjoy the humor because it's all about humor. <<less

While the translation is rough, seeing all the misunderstandings and coincidences from various angles is actually fantastic. The best part is that the author seems to know where to end something without drawing the joke out beyond the limits of it's hilarity.

A good read if you have some time and just want a laugh.

I really like this novel as it is in my opinion very funny and interestingly written. And I hope that it could get a little faster updating time as I can't wait to see where it goes from here.

Honestly I want to rate this 4 or 5/5. I love the story and characters and found it really fun to read. I shot through it in 1 sitting. However with only 19 short chapters and no updates for like 10 months the translation is best considered dead.

One problem is that this series follows the format of: 1 chapter main character viewpoint, next chapter is last chapter again but from side characters viewpoint.

Now this is really fun, but when it's a constant thing it means that there's little to no... more>> progress happening ever. So you get like 10 unique chapters. And the story is really getting interesting when the translation stops. <<less
