It's somewhere between two and three stars. Not unreadable but cliched and flawed.

The story is a 2nd chance/revenge/ with a villainess setting. There's things that these stories need to do. They need to at least make you feel sympathy for the MC. Next is the need to arouse hatred and ire towards the antagonists of the story. The revenge should be sweet, surprising and satisfying. This story achieves none of these goals.

All the characters come across as unrelatable, s*upid and rather uninteresting. The male villains are thuggish bugs so easily... more>> dealt with that they are hardly interesting. Their methods and plans are things worthy only of violent children and leave the reader wondering "Seriously?". The protagonist, and her allies are equally dull. The first is that she allowed herself to be controlled and coerced to such an extent. There's no sense of betrayal just a "what are you doing?". In the post rebirth timeline she is equally dull but gifted with plot armor.

In my opinion and as pure speculation it seems the author read a Chinese second chance/revenge novel and made the attempt to do one of their own.

As a note: This is on Syosetsu and there is apparently another novel with the same name on Alpha Polis. Alpha Polis being a paid site with a more restrictive editorial, the one there could be the revised and polished version of this. I can't be certain about this. <<less

I finished the novel on Syosetu up to c34, and I agree with the other reviewer that this novel had potential but ended up feeling rushed and unconnected.

The ML is a psychopath, and has no qualm with killing dozens of people just because he doesn't like them. And he somehow gets away with it all scot free, perhaps because he's the crown prince? He delights in torturing people he doesn't like by wrapping poisonous snakes around their necks and having the snake choke them, and his relationship to the FL is similarly twisted. He shouts at her when she tries to do something without him, then hugs her tightly whispering "I love you" into her ears over and over again until she accepts the words. He locks her up in his house and forces her to wear dresses in his color, then pops into her conversations randomly at her next party just to show people how "close" they are. I have no idea why the FL falls for his yandere side so quickly despite suffering miserably to two yandere men in her previous life, and by quickly I mean "10 seconds after meeting and getting hugged for the first time".

[collapse]

Overall, I feel like the author twisted the romance parts of the novel too much, but otherwise the story was interesting. Although you only figure it out in the last chapter, the ML did have a reason for abandoning the FL in the original time line, so the story has a continuity even if part of the plot is predicated on the ML mu*dering everyone or crushing the family of everyone he dislikes or who gets in his way. <<less

I'm coming off have just finished reading a tr*sh short story before finishing this one so my expectations was already at an all time low. That being said I may feel differently about this story if I re-read it in the future, but as it stands I think it's a slightly above average short story. I've definitely read better ones for sure, but this one was simple and uncomplicated with redeeming arcs for both the FL and the ML.

I understand that most of the reviewers frustrations lie in the fact... more>> that the ending was rushed and therefore unsatisfactory, but honestly what other ending could have been written? Her revenge was over so her purpose now was to obtain the love that she was so cruelly deprived of from the man who was willing to forsake time and space just to have her. People here act like the ML abused the FL when not once did he lay a harmful finger on her much less raise his voice against her.

Remember "a hero will sacrifice the girl to save the world, but a villain will sacrifice the world to save the girl." That's exactly the kind of person that the FL needed in her life. Even after her death the ML said that the world did not deserve her. And yet some of yall really have the nerve to say he's was not a good ML. I'd rather have me a villain than a hero especially if it's like the ML here. <<less

Did I like it? No. Did I gain enlightenment? A little. The few chapters in the end were messy but I liked the line "After revenge is nothing" and how empty she felt. It was the best part. 5 stars for that moment rudused to 3 stars as the writing was terrible and the characters are one dimension. To Myself: Do Not Read Again! It's an ok quick read one time only it is unnecessary to read again.

The story of rebirth and taking revenge were usually my favorite but somehow, I couldn't enjoy this story. Maybe because MC's enemies were way too brainless until I couldn't even feel any joy when MC defeated them. I mean, even without MC, I think they would ruin themselves sooner or later with their brain capacities and foolish actions.

And ML, is there any way to take revenge other than killing them all? Isn't it better to make their life worse than death? Really, it's hard for me to treat ML other... more>> than being a killing machine.

The ending, well, it's a happy ending although it had a "tragedy" tag but I couldn't feel happy at all because I didn't find any chemistry in MC and ML's relationship till the end. <<less

Perhaps had I read this years ago, I might have love it, as for now... Nope.

As others mentioned, this novel had a lot of potential, the premise and the plot points are great in my opinion just the way they build the world. Despite telling my self this is the fiction world created by the author, I could not ignore some of the s*upidity and holes in it.

The romance is good, ML is the loving yandere kind who regretted not fighting for MC in the first life.

he's the concubine-born second prince, whose mother is from a beastmen country. He's NOT the crown prince or the scumbag ex-fiance of FL.

[collapse]

Personally rather than pure romantic love, I think that it was just MC looking for someone to love her finally. Initially she discarded any thoughts but upon numerous confirmation by ML, she finally accepted him.

The author somehow manage to make the enemies realistically delusional and naive. MC is also likewise written not as an MC that suddenly became smart, but just someone who finally using her brain and waking up from her delusion. <<less

It has a great setup, the only problem is the execution is a bit convenient. It's light on the drama, and more like a snowball plowing its way downhill. No room for intricacies or misdirections to heighten the tension.

Thankfully it's short so you're not going to suffer stretches of repetition.

Once you get to the end of the story, it's somewhat satisfying in how the threads in both universes are tidied up, but I'm not particularly happy with the ending in the current timeline. The other timeline's resolution is fine. But... more>> this one is...
