Everyone in the world knows that Demon Lord Hua Che was cruel and vicious. A single disagreement could cause him to slaughter someone’s entire family.

What raised everyone’s hackles, even more, was how he had kidnapped the Immortal Lord Chu Binghuan, before shamelessly forcing him to become his Daoist companion!

Everyone cursed him, calling him shameless and disgusting, but he completely disregarded them. Hua Che only gently and cautiously tried currying favour with his crush, his white moonlight.

However, even until death, the only things he managed to obtain from Chu Binghuan were the words “shameless”, and “we’re irreconcilable enemies”—these kinds of hurtful phrases.

Luckily, after being reborn, Hua Che finally understood: that stolen melons were not sweet. During such an excellent era, wasn’t strolling with a cat or teasing a dog also fun?

First, he had to go to Chu Binghuan’s family to break their arranged marriage.

However, the lofty Chu Binghuan, who was originally devoted to cultivating and always disdained his wooing, suddenly had a huge personality change. No matter where Hua Che went, he would follow, and it was impossible to lose him!

Hua Che borrowed a certain person’s words and said, “Shameless!”

Chu Binghuan: “You and I have long had an engagement, and we’ve even slept in the same bed. This is a matter of course.”

Hua Che continued borrowing someone’s words: “We are irreconcilable enemies who cannot live under the same sky!”

Chu Binghuan: “Then the two of us should travel beyond the sky, becoming the perfect immortal couple.”

I love, love, love this novel! I read the first chapter translated by the wonderful Sakhyulations (great translation, as always ❤️) and was immediately intrigued. I MTL-ed the whole thing and this story is so good! I love the MC and ML as well as the whole cast of of characters. The plot is paced wonderfully and due to the length, it's told in a very concise way without too much filler. Some parts are quite emotional (I definitely cried) but it's not over dramatic and there are definitely spots... more>> of humour to even it out. It's a happy ending btw although I wish there were more extras so I can read about the rest of the cast.

For me, the highlight of the story is definitely MC. He's gentle yet strong, humble while also confident and so incredibly caring to those he loves. I also thought ML was great as well in the way he's portrayed. Although the story is mainly told from MC's perspective, you also get plenty of insight into the ML's as well due to POV switches between the MC and the ML in the story. I think this was done well because you don't get the full background of what happened at the beginning. As the story progresses, you get more and more pieces until a full picture of what actually happened unfolds.

MTL wise, this was understandable although I have likely missed many of the nuances in the story. I will definitely follow along Sakhyulations in their translation. <<less

Mtled this for two days and it was worth it. I have this suspicion that the author wrote everything before she posted it by chapters. Even the tiniest details you'll find in the early chapters will become extremely relevant in the late chapters.

The characters are realistic and well-rounded, especially MC and ML-- they have their own situation which was why they did the things they did, but even so that didn't mean that they still haven't wronged each other in the process and there was proper apology, and a proper... more>> confession. There's no plot hole as I can see which is honestly a first, and happy endings to everyone who deserved it as well as forgiveness to those who were reedemeable (which is also a first in a CN novel for me).

My favorite part was

Chu Binghuan confessing his love and Hua Che not immediately accepting it. He was tired chasing and Chu Binghuan saw it in his face so he asked for a second chance. Later on, Hua Che found out that Chu Binghuan was also reborn all along, and finally got the implications of what his confession ultimately meant.

The quality of the translation has gone down significantly since the new translator picked up this series. I don't like to criticize the quality of the translation because generally the translator is providing their service for free. However, in this particular case, they have premium chapters, and some sections of the translation read like MTL. The quality of the translation makes me wonder if the translator actually knows chinese.

Since they picked up this series, they should make it clear if they're using MTL or if there's some other reason for... more>> the poor translation. Otherwise, it's quite shady, since other groups are shut out from retranslating and they're profiting off of the work.

Edit: Also as other commenters noted this is a MDZS rip-off. <<less

Can you imagine your tragic life being reduced to a series of unfortunate events?

  • Your mum wasn't abandoned by her fiance. It was unfortunate she was reduced to prostituon from royalty; thus, labelling you a prostitute's son for life.
  • Silver lining, your paternal bloodline isn't tainted. That was just a scheme set up by the demon lord to come to us with the bs. Your real father is an important good guy, so now you are worthy of the ml.
  • Your fiance didn't abandon you. It was unfortunate that he was in a coma when you were condemned and killed. Even more unfortunate that he was cursed not to have s*x with you. God forbid he explain this to you or show any affection.

It was quite the redemption and complete white washing of mc's past experiences. But it almost felt like lazy writing. Everything just conveniently fell into place to explain the main couple getting together.

Until the end, the author failed to convince me that the ML was worthy. He had 3yrs to show MC his love, affection even if it wasn't sexual.

These two dumbasses also took too long to realise they were both reborn.

A decent short read. Nothing groundbreaking. Same old most coveted bachelor/son of heaven handsome cold ascetic gong + misunderstood flirty good-guy genius forced to join darkside due to 'circumstances' shou. Yup~simply put, it's the LWJxWWX troupe. But, probably cause it's short, the world-building and plot are sorta lacking.

With the title I expected a lengthy 'wife-chase' but, there wasn't much of that. And most misunderstandings were solved via power of love and magic✨ I'm serious and no I'm not talking of a double rebirth!! ... more>>

a magic musical artifact (not sure. it's the best I understood from the MTL) not only brought them both back to the past, it also showed them the unspeakable difficulties the other faced. So this time ML almost went to the darkside needing MC's rescue and now everything is daijobu~ I'd say lazy writing but this is Xianxia. I guess Magic Fate and Dao are real~~ 🤷

The world building is severely lacking. As I'd expect some sort of explanation or info into the cultivation levels and what realm the protagonists are and their progress in any xianxia novel... there's none here! And the villain's are so one-dimensional and lackluster that there was zero build-up/tension and things get resolved easily due of MC's rebirth-buff and serendipity~

I also feel a lot of things were explained away with curses, people and situations that magically appear when needed without any foreshadowing.

There's that curse the ML's mom put on ML- the 'Red Lotus' Gu/curse that would kill MC if they get together. It was introduced a bit abruptly towards the end and even then I really couldn't see a reason why ML couldn't have just told the then demonlord MC about the curse/gu cause on an average the demonic cultivators should be better versed in art of using/breaking curses/gu.🤷

And I'd have preferred it if our MC remained a demonlord via bloodline instead of a tall rich and handsome daddy from the righteous side randomly appearing and claiming parental rights. And all the misunderstandings being explained away with a 'I got my memories of your mother randomly sealed by your fake-dad' explanation. (Well this is just a personal preference)

I'm also a bit irked that ML's mom got away without facing any consequences because of the 'this life it's different'. She holds a great deal of responsibility in pushing them to their bitter ends last life time. My saltyass is very dissatisfied though I must agree that it may be best to let bygones be bygones and live in the present.

MTL is pretty easy to understand. If you love BL and Xianxia genre, do give it a read. <<less

Super cute and fluffy; thank you so much to Sakhyulations' TL for introducing me to this wonderful novel !!! (I read the rest of it in the raws!)

Ok, so I said it was cute and fluffy, but it is also super angsty in some bits and you know I love a good character with a guilt complex! (ML) MC is also so endearing, like a prickly hedgehog that you can't help but coo over!! All the side characters are also wonderful too, each of them bringing something different to... more>> the story.

If you're looking for a complicated story with twists and turns, this is not it. It is easily readable and digestible. But if you're looking for a story about how having dependable friends and family by your side makes all the difference, this is it !! This is love winning in every way possible HAHA <<less

I had a great time reading this book, it made me laugh made me cry and stunned me with how well it rolled out the story and the plot twists were genuinely unexpected but did not feel out of place at all. For something I started to read to pass the time it stunned me with how good it was.

the relationship with the ML was really a wringer but I can say that 70% of the problems between the MC and ML were because of the Ml's mum placing a curse on the ML that if he had a 'intimate relationship' with anyone he would die the rest were misunderstandings brought on by his Master and "Father"

I liked this story. The plot was good but not particularly complex (works as a pallet cleanser), the relationship was nice and equal, and the characters were also likable enough (the side characters too). It's also relatively short and doesn't drag on which is great.

I would definitely recommend this. It's fun and isn't too complicated with good pacing and a nice mix of fluff and angst; in fact, I think this novel handled the blend and balance of the two better than most of the light novels I've read. I... more>> am a fan of sweet longing with a tinge of bitterness that gets resolved by the end, so I was happy with this. There's just one tiny thing that bothers me personally and it only shows up at the end:

I hate it when the gong is inconsiderate and just keeps on going while the shou is tired and clearly doesn't want to continue and not even in a "saying no but meaning yes" way that exists in these types of stories. He just straight up didn't want to and the ML should have respected that.

But then again, I'm an avid fan of consent in fiction and I don't think this little bit will bother that many people.

And the world building was also a bit lackluster (and you won't be fulfilling revenge fantasies in this story but this wasn't that kind of story to begin with so I'm personally fine with that).

That aside, this novel is easy to MTL and is overall a good read. <<less

This story was better than I had expected from reading the description. I've only read up to chapter 6 translations and the rest raw but the translation is quite well done. The story flowed pretty well as well. There are definitely some frustrating parts (especially a certain lady and some other crazy dude) and there are some parts that made me sad. But that just means it's an immersive story.

It's a Happy Ending (HE) and has some plot twists. In a sense, it reminds me a lot of GoDC/FoD/MDZS -... more>> whatever you want to call that. I think it's because of the nature of the CP, the misunderstandings, and the constant switch between present and past tense. It is a completely different and amazing story but it just gives me those vibes. It made me look forward to more and wasn't dragged on for too long. And most importantly, the CP really do love each other a lot. It's just other people and misunderstandings getting in their way. Good thing they have a happy ending. If not, I would hate this story for making me cry.

Totally recommend this to anyone who likes this type of story. <<less

I read some reviews saying that this story is a ripoff of The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation — I think that’s a pretty harsh judgment.

This novel is indeed similar to that novel but just like how apocalypse novel have similar plots, that tends to happen to cultivation novels too.

Although the MC here wearing red while the ML wearing white, the ML having a cold personality, the MC coming from the demonic sect — these did remind me of WWX and LWJ too

However, the personality of MC here and WWX are... more>> quite different too. WWX is very playful/teasing

In terms of the novel itself, 16 chapters in and it doesn’t really make me want to continue reading, I feel like the ML doesn’t have much ML aura and MC is kinda pain buuuuut that’s just my personal take so I’m nit rating this novel <<less

This is my favourite story of all time! I know it isn't some epic with linear storytelling or with lots of chapters that build the world from the ground up (like I usually prefer) and things happen far too quickly sometimes, but the premise is sooo good. It really warms my heart! Some people may not like it, but I'd say give it a chance! 😊

I wish the ML in this life was different, the MC really was too pitiful. How come every "genius, talented, prodigious" ML is so s*upid as to believe in misunderstandings. He acted so arrogantly even after knowing MC was kind. He never thought to have a proper conversation and ask MC anything. Wth is his problem? He mentioned to his mother that she never knew what he wanted but in prev life he himself never realised what he wanted. Is his iq low or high in the end? At first I was really invested in this story but the conclusion left me extremely disappointed.

Maybe it is because I don't share the same values as the author. What I didn't like specifically was the way the author solved the question about MC's status and the weird filial piety they all show to ML's mom, who in my opinion is the real villain in this book.

Also was a little weird how immature the main couple behaved in their previous life, how come people that are supposed to have 300 years... more>> can be like that? They both were the rulers of their respective sects for God sake. Like someone else said maybe it is just lazy writing, in the last chapters I felt that the author was in a hurry to wrap it up <<less

I feel like the whole book was really written for the history of the world rather than for the MC/ML. Rather than focusing on the growth of the characters (because our MC/ML are pretty much grown at this point), the author pushed more and more history with each chapter. Prep yourselves for that.

Most the characters have their distinct way of acting and their own reasons to do things. It's all very straight forward. The couple is actually quite sweet with each other by the end of the book. But there's... more>> a lot of history to get through

ML had 2 chapters to turn evil for no reason. I think the author realize that it was s*upid to drag the story out too much so she didn't continue with in or it really would be a whole other kind of story.

And Lu Yao, that silly boy. I don't really understand the way he acts even with the author emphasizing that he's a coward very other chapter or so. He had a complete ending by the end of the book but it was sort of bland.

I quite like this type of story! It's ups and downs and all. If you wanted to read a quick story about misunderstood villains and how everything works out in the end without much thinking, this is it. The good vs evil concept is quite similar to Grandmaster's Demonic Cultivation. However, this is a very refreshing spin on it. In fact, I would say the writing style is more similar to Heart Protection. I recommend Heart Protection for people looking for something written in a similar style but with a different story! <<less

I apologize in advance for any mistakes; English is not my native language.

This novel is really good; I enjoyed it a lot. The characters are great, their interactions are fun, and each one has their own personality. Despite being relatively short compared to the standard of Chinese novels, it is very interesting, with a well-defined beginning, middle, and end, good drama and comedy, and reasonably good development for the length of the story.

There are very interesting plots, especially regarding the past lives of the MC and ML. However, even with... more>> all these qualities, there are some things that bothered me a bit. In the last 10 chapters, the author started rushing towards the end. Although he mentioned not wanting to create a very long story, this rush is noticeable when comparing the last chapters to the rest of the story, which detracts a bit from the immersion.

Due to this rush, some conversations seem scripted, and certain character actions don’t make much sense without more detailed explanations. Additionally, the author tried to close all plots extremely completely, without leaving any loose ends. This wouldn't be a problem if it had been well-developed, which would require more chapters. I don’t think it would have been an issue if the author had left some plot points open or hadn’t started certain subplots, as they couldn’t be well-developed.

As a result, these parallel plots made the ending feel even more rushed. However, these issues only occurred in the parallel aspects of the main plot. The development of the main storyline and the characters' emotions were very well handled. As I mentioned before, these "flaws" only occur in the last chapters and don’t deserve much attention.

I recommend this novel to anyone looking for something good and quick to read. It has drama but doesn’t dwell on it, and it has comedy but maintains a serious narrative. Just be aware that the writing quality in the final chapters will be a bit lower compared to the beginning and middle.

Remember, this novel is quite short, so it's natural to have some plot holes and things that aren't as well developed as in a 120-chapter novel (which is basically the average/minimum for a Chinese novel) or more. <<less

Literally came here, registered an account, scrolled through novelupdates’ tags (because I couldn’t remember the English title), TO WRITE THIS REVIEW.

this is such a good novel, such a rare gem. At the beginning is so funny, and just literally MC trying to nope tf out of ML’s life and yet they keep *coincidentally* running into each other.

MC is good boy, ML is also good boy, both are good bois who just need a hug because they’ve suffered too much.

I just love the fact story is lighthearted but then nearing the... more>> end it got me bawling my eyes out with snot and all that.

Will not be writing any spoilers but I think Sakyu did a really good job in translating this. I got hooked and cannot stop myself from going to read the raws. It’s just that good.

11/10 would recommend. LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS <<less

Loved it, I’m on a rebirth kick, this was one I didn’t drop and one that was not necessarily anguish. I loved MC/ML learned from the past and didn’t get caught with revenge for past things in the past life, that didn’t happen in the present.

Really fun. If you enjoyed The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, then you'll likely enjoy this one too. The dynamic between the two main leads are similar, but after a while you learn they're quite different from WWX and LWJ.

I liked their relationship and how it changed, the xianxia adventure plot line (joining a sect, fighting fellow cultivators to showcase your talent, fighting demonic cultivators, etc), the plot twists, etc...

Parts of it felt rushed and a little unpolished, but it didn't detract from my enjoyment. It just would've felt more complete... more>> if more was written on certain plot lines.

Overall, fun read even if it's not perfect. (The Right Hand is a vibe. Noodles > messy Demonic cultivation) <<less
