So... MC goes to school by train everyday and somehow the most popular girl at the school ALWAYS picks the seat next to him. Turn out that from the girl's POV, they are already dating for YEARS but MC didn't realize that fact (or forgotten...).

With only 2 chapters so far, I'll reserve judgement too far. Other than the girl sound quite yandere toward the MC, its pretty much seem to be a simple misunderstanding slice-of-life comedy. If you're into similar novel like "Why Is the Prettiest Girl in School Trying... more>> to Talk to a Loner Like Me during Lunch Break?" I say at least give this a try... and if its even HALF as funny as that novel, I say its a fun ride. <<less

First thing first, the translation was excellent.

However, the story itself was mediocre best best. The last third was beyond bland, and largely pointless. What little bit of potential the story had was mostly thrown away by the end.

I hope that the translator works on a more interesting story next time! I want to see more of their good work!

Given the overly descriptive, lazily constructed title I expected this novel to be a lot worse than it turned out to be. Despite this, I ended up being pleasantly surprised. For now, I will rate this novel at a 3.5/5.

Far from a masterpiece but not completely mediocre; the story managed to keep my interest with it's pacing of events. Several potential love interests are introduced each of whom are distinct characters in and of themselves.

Although the framework is laid out, a lot of aspects remain seemingly unfinished. Characters aren't quite... more>> fleshed out enough and many of the circumstances within the novel rely on pure coincidence. The main character is not a complete doormat, but he does come off as being a doormat and some of his reactions to events, although not irreparably distasteful, fall short of being satisfying. As things stand with the MC, oftentimes you may find yourself questioning motives or observing absurdities within the cast.

Despite its shortcomings though, I do believe that there is potential here. Here's to hoping that the author polishes up his writing and delivers something worth investing yourself into. P.S. - Despite the Yandere tag, the female lead as of c48 does not act like much of a Yandere at all. She is incredibly jealousy-prone however but otherwise doesn't stand out in the way you would expect from a Yandere. <<less

The writing is incredibly bland to the point that I skip paragraphs just to read the dialog because I can already tell whats going and I don't want to waste my time. At this point, I'm just reading to get this novel over with.

Now onto the actual story, at the beginning it had an interesting concept that was at the same time confusing and forced in terms of the relationship between the ML and FL. Everything was going great and had that hint of yandere feel to it (not a... more>> fan but that didn't affect me too much) that was discarded quickly. Every development between the two girls, one a co-worker and the other his girlfriend (oh and guess what, they're both beautiful/cute while the MC is plain, SHOCKER!) and the MC is forced and just wants you to give the author a bonk on the head for how moronic these characters are but then again, author might lose more brain cells and create an even worse story.

I don't even know to write a review for this 'novel' because of how bland and generic this is. It's to the point that whenever I see a new chapter post I go 'Oh great, time to read the next chapter.....' in a very sarcastic tone. I've yawned more reading this novel then being in a 2 hour class.

Translation is pretty good so I have no complaints there but then again I don't read nor speak Japanese so I'm basing this off of what I see from the translated chapters instead of the raw.

I would definitely not recommend this to anyone other then those who just want to add this to their completed reading list as this is almost over with only 49 chapters in total. Currently at 43 chapters for the translation and they update every week or so. For those who enjoy romance, you'll see none here though I do agree there are some fluffy moments but it's incredibly rare and the events later on just bring intense frustration because forced events ruin everything especially when they make absolutely no sense as to why it occurred.

If you want to know what I am talking about read this spoiler:

Spoiler

Mamiko (girlfriend of the MC) breaks up with the MC because he talks to other girls and she ends up losing confidence in herself. All he did was barely talk to them and she would lose her mind. They haven't gotten back together yet because you know that's going to happen at the end but they did eventually meet coincidentally while he was holding the hands of his editor so he can try to escape from being spotted by Mamiko.

[collapse]

Final note, this is all my opinion anyways so if you want to try this novel out go ahead. Just do not expect much out of this. <<less

New Review:

I will give this five stars now because I loved the way he answered his sister's confession. He rejected her in such a harsh way that is not possible for harem protagonists. And he gave the job of talking to her to someone else. How the aftermath was dealt was good.

Old review:

... more>> A romcom involving a lot less dense protagonist and a Yandere. I've never read something like this (Or I might have but I'm too s*upid to remember).

I'm giving it 4 stars for now. I love the idea and plot. It's a great story but it's just a romcom. Its just like a normal romcom but with a Yandere. That's about it. Currently there are no weird twists yet so I rated it four stars. I recommend it to those that like romcoms. <<less

What we have here is a harem story centered in two-dimensional MC. It's like the MC is only in the story so that the heroines will have an object of affection. The story also started where the girls already like the MC, and like what the other review said, their reason is pretty lacking, either on what is written in the story or what we see. The only 'reason' I read is the MC is kind (base on Mamiko's mother).

If you read my previous review this is really likeable at... more>> first, as we have a heroine love our MC, and how their relationship easily progress. But now, what we have is a heroine that is became angry to the MC whenever girls talk to him (not the MC intention), which should be directed to the girl that talk, if she's really yandere. The MC is just a puppet of the story that acts his role as a harem protagonist without doing anything that he decided himself.

Yandere/clingy girlfriend, smart cool type gamer coworker, brocon sister. This should be a story that is made by merging some ideal heroines, but what we got is a story where characters badly compliment each other and a pretty bland MC.

In the end this is my preference, but this novel is at least fine to read if you're looking for something to read during free time.

Spoiler

Old Review

The premise of the story is really good for the love-comedy story. As this story starts from how their relationship as a couple will proceed together. Though the MC already have a girlfriend, it seems there are other potential heroine which made this to have a harem tag and there's so many elements here that made the story more interesting.

Spoiler

-little sister who confess to the MC in front of their father (father approves, probably)

-Co-worker who will know that the MC is her playmate whom she like in a game

-and a potential yandere girlfriend (probably she really is)

[collapse]

Even though there are almost no cute moments, at least we see a harem-like development around the MC who's already dating with a girl. As for the heroine, I can't wait to see her confront the other girls. She really loves our MC, but currently she's like a wife who found his husband cheating.

The chapters are long too with some multiple POV. It is a story really worth to read.

I know that there are some reviews on here championing this... novel, and that they say not to listen to those with low reviews. It's not bad, I guess, if you're into ... more>>
Spoiler

stereotypical shoujo manga where the couple is lovey dovey together forever happily ever after, but the problem is that it does basically follow that plot. The humor was terrible, the conflict was expected (read enough shoujo in this lifetime that there was nothing out of expectations), the biggest plot twist was that the girlfriend actually shaped up after dumping the MC somehow without maturing at all (she became a caricature of what I'm guessing the author thought should be "best girl" after getting back together with the MC, beautiful and dotingly clingy, with no layers beyond some jealousy and wanting to be spoiled)

[collapse]
, I died of second hand embarrassment and revived to create a reading list called "garbage" just so I'd never make the mistake of wasting my fading eyesight on this again. Normally, I let it go and just move on because there's better things to do in life than obsess over horrible things but this is beyond the standard level of bad.

Read to the end to see if it could redeem itself. It does not. The plot is about as vapid as it's main couple, and it pains me that I know people in real life who are like this and that I've had relationships like this. If your relationship is as flimsy and 2D as this, please, consider if it is possibly borderline emotionally abusive or codependent. It's not cute, and you're headed for disaster.
Spoiler

If you break up, stay broken up, don't go "but I love him/her", you will get over it in time. Spare yourself the emotional exhaustion, please. The characters are in high school, so it's still excusable, but if you're older than them and think this is #goals, please don't date someone who fits this story, you won't learn anything from it besides how to waste your energy making yourself more exhausted. Or die! That female lead is definitely a yandere, and while that lends an interesting twist, it didn't amount to much. Do you actually want anyone to die? No, but if this story turned to her life after trying to make a move on someone else's in the name of jealousy, it would have been more interesting.

Another fake harem no touch genre (at least for me) novel

One of the many story out there who want to force harem X reality X School Life

First Harem - rate : ZERO another novel that is a big insult toward real genre harem novel

... more>> Second Reality - rate:ONE when you add reality to something that it should not be it will ruined the whole story author seem to force a touch of reality in this novel which is a total B*LLSH*TING at least for me.

Third School Life - rate: ZERO yup I saw the genre tag school life X harem got hook and read it but another TOTAL B*LLSH*TING from the author. To hell you call that school life because school is mentioned (*flip table)

The story it seem goes hay wire when MC meets the mother I feel that this story is no good already at that part I already put this on my graveyard list.

The story it self was not bad but the author seems to take it to a force direction when it should not be. For example the romance is so-so and to much POV of other characters!

well it's a typical Japanese novel there is only very few good Japanese novel out there. <<less

Mamiko (popular girl) likes him because of a misunderstanding from when the MC (10yrs ago) asked her to go out with him and has been "dating" him since. Started with great potential, but the story was too short to do what it wanted.

Spoiler

It threw in a completely unnecessary sub heroine and then rushed her ark, leaving it unfulfilled, and a foul taste in the reader’s mouth. In addition to that, the MC has a massive opportunity handed to him for a future career as a manga writer, but nothing becomes of it.

[collapse]

There’s so much unnecessary crap that does nothing for the story going on that if you cut it all out the story would maybe be 10 chapters long at max. I suppose my biggest complaint is that the story doesn’t seem to be trying to do anything, there’s nothing to gain, and any investment you place in the story gets disrupted.

Would I recommend it? Not really, but if you have time to kill, go ahead. It isn’t a bad story, just one that feels empty. <<less

The story came with a nice plot, the FL more than Yandere just seemed very sweet and somewhat obsessive so the story was sweet in general, but, the last parts of the story (chapter 30 onwards) seem an insult to everything. That was planned, the author added 2 more girls who did not contribute absolutely anything to the story and one of them was even rejected and nothing was heard from her (although it is understood why she was rejected), but even so it feels incomplete the story, I would... more>> have liked the author to have developed the characters more, <<less

I reached chapter 40, which was about 9 chapters before its end, before dropping it. I liked its beginning, but the end feels very dull, and there's a lot of uninteresting parts that don't interest me at all. The issue is the author doesn't seem to know exactly what he wants the story to be focused around and adds some random plot points here and there that aren't addressed very strongly or enjoyable.

Initially, I liked the premise and start. ... more>>
Spoiler

The boy, during 1st grade, used lines from a romance movie he saw to the girl to take her to the bathroom but was misunderstood as a confession, so she misunderstood for 10 years before clearing it up and her asking him out for real.

[collapse]
That was all good and fine. I like the idea; it's cute and humorous albeit not too serious or anything.

There were also buds of a love triangle of sorts. (Spoilers about some major events.)
Spoiler

The initially-cold coworker plays the same online game as him and has a crush on his online persona and upon finding his true identity starts feeling that in real life toward him. She also runs into him at least twice at a school meeting as fellow representatives of different schools and coincidentally at a bookstore after she learns his GF broke up with him for being unable to stand the jealous feelings in her heart when he even just chats with random girls.

[collapse]
Although it relies heavily on coincidence, I did like this coworker and that development, since I generally like when one side has a hidden identity that is divulged to the other but not both - it makes for fun scenes since the balance of information is shifted.

If the story just focused on these three characters and the core romance around them, while the MC also grew, I'd enjoy that and be fine with it and enjoy it. (Though I do wish the MC actually try to learn about his GF, which he doesn't seem to. I'm 40/49 of the way through, and I can't recall a single hobby/interest of hers outside of cooking for and obsessing over the MC. I'd like a bit more development or info there, even for a yandere, given we know the coworker is a secret otaku.)

But there's some random ass plot threads that are introduced and not strongly touched on again:

  • Spoiler

blood-related little sister has a crush on him and confesses to get rejected. This felt out of nowhere, didn't contribute to anything interesting, seemed to be some minor thing done to show the FMC being jealous more, and overall was an uninteresting addition and felt overly haremy, given the other two girls already liked him

    [collapse]
  • Spoiler

adult editor who comes to the MC to write a manga when he has absolutely 0 experience drawing, because he wrote some online novels that were good, and his manga ka father showed that editor those works. This is such a random ass, uninteresting, divergent plot thread, and it seems to also only be done to introduce another girl to make the FMC jealous, and I also don't like the MC suddenly getting chance to make manga. That sh*t takes years of practice, and it's all so convenient and contrived. I despise it, and I found it extremely uninteresting. This editor is also introduced around chapter 38 or so, so it's relatively late and it's all very sudden

    [collapse]
  • Spoiler

on a similar point, all the plot threads/mentions of the MC writing his own story in his spare time on the internet and being ranked 1st briefly but getting fan backlash.... who gives a flying f*ck? Seriously? What does this add to the core yandere love triangle romance/comedy/drama? Yes the father has him call the girl to come and give ideas for his romance manga... but that doesn't need the MC being a writer, and his being a writer adds nothing of value to the plot. It feels like an author insert, and it detracts very strongly from the core narrative and is very dull and uninteresting. If the story focused around that more and lead to more about that, it'd be fine, but it really doesn't at all.

    [collapse]
  • Spoiler

more minor, but the MC had a guy friend who went to his middle school and now goes to the same school as the coworker and likes her - I think this could've been a more interesting plot thread to focus on instead of so many contrived situations with women around the MC. Not everything needs to be harem-y, and many works would be stronger if not for that

    [collapse]
There's some other minor things I like and dislike. I do enjoy the MC working an actual job, dislike that the MC is so lazy about studying to wait/procrastinate until 2 days before the exam because he thinks the FMC will help him (her mom gets injured and she cannot), dislike the scenes with the MC chatting with his class friend Sagami as it adds basically nothing plot-wise other than updates of the MC's relationship that we already know, etc, but these are more minor.

Overall, I'd give the starting one third or one half about 3/5 stars, but the later parts 1/5 stars for being atrociously bad with a lot of contrivances and very dull, uninteresting moments that feel too haremy. I'll leave this as a 2/5 for now, and I'd say I can't recommend this over other better works (check my reviews for some romcom works I did enjoy more and recommend more). It wasn't completely awful - I did reach chapter 40 before dropping after all - but even though I'm so close to the end, I know it's not worth my time to finish and already glanced at the ending chapter and can tell from that and from other reviews that I'm not missing out on anything special. (Honestly, the few remaining chapters isn't enough to wrap up all the plot threads and developments as neatly since they'd need more time anyway to be more and truly satisfying.) <<less

Unlike what the title and tags suggest this is a surprisingly heavy novel. To the point that it's not exactly enjoyable to read. That f*cking comedy tag is a complete lie. There aren't exactly fun or even funny moments in the novel. The MC is bland and everyone just loves him for some reason, but that's to be expected when it comes to these types of novels. The heroine is super paranoid about everything the MC does but not in a "fun" Yandere way. Instead she just gets progressively angrier... more>> at the MC in a sad way. Not only does the heroine not feel like a Yandere, when reading her illogical reactions at mundane things just makes you kind of frustrated.

The feel I got up to this point is that the author is building up to a tragedy, which was not what I was looking for. I didn't start reading this type of novel with these tags wanting to feel sad.

Also Honestly the author projected way too much of himself into the main character.
Spoiler

Guess what, the MC also likes to write Romantic comedy novels and has ranked #1 before (I mean common man, the author's writing isn't the worst but he's not ranking first in anything. He needs to stop jerking himself off). But People gave him bad reviews at the end because the love interests split and that wasn't properly built up at in anyway... Remind you of anything? Is this even foreshadowing at this point?

It was very very cliche. I won't spoil anything (and there's nothing worth spoiling) except for the chapter where I dropped it to explain why I did so.

So first of all, I don't particularly dislike cliche romance with predictable "development" and stuff. The writing style is also bland, basically everything is cliche and bland except the first chapters, to which the whole title explains what was happening. After that, it's just a whole bunch of cliche romance, bland style of writing and forced development. However, one particular development made... more>> me stop reading completely. I'm gonna tag this as a spoiler but you should read this in case you don't want to be disappointed.

Spoiler

Ever liked ret*rded soap opera dramas? Well here it is at Chapter 33-34, Basically main heroine get super jealous due to ridiculous reason of MC talking to his first love at middle school, his co-worker or other girls (note that MC and main heroine are already dating, also 'first love of MC' has a boyfriend already. They were technically both in love one-sidedly to each other before but aftaid to confess, until they got apart and their feelings changed). So then, MC apologized once but when main heroine saw the MC talking to his co-worker (co-worker's feelings for the MC is one hell of a very forced development btw) and seeing that the co-worker looks like she's in love, the main heroine thought "he doesn't need someone like me cause he has other girls". Do note that THE MC AND CO-WORKER WERE SIMPLY TALKING. There has also been no evidence whatsoever that the MC does not cherish the main heroine, he did fell in love with her and even argued with the heroine's mother and announced that he'll marry the main heroine. Bruh what the f*ck is with this chick's brain? Afterwards she decided that they should break up, to which the MC was ofc sad and thought that it was his fault for making the main heroine jealous EVEN THOUGH it was because of the utter s*upidity of the heroine. I feel like it was so forced considering that the scene about arguing with the heroine's mother about marrying the heroine just happened a few chapters before, and very coincidentally after the forced romantic feelings development of the co-worker. Judging by the current development, there's no doubt that the author will push the co-worker to the MC to which some shitty drama will happen and then at the end the heroine will come back to the MC, only to have another shitty forced development to happen that will once again break them apart only to get back again. I don't want another shitty Domestic na Kanojo roller-coaster development.

[collapse]

I would give a 3-4 on the first chapters since I don't particularly hate cliche and like fluffy stories, but when after around chapter 30 it's 2. If the development goes the way I see it and doesn't change, then this novel is just plain bad and wholly deserves a 1. <<less

I think people are being too harsh on the review. Here is a thing. Most bad reviews here have a point, but I feel like author is trying to set up a story or a stage. There is no conflict in the story yet, but you can see it developing as chapters go. The chapters are fairly short and I don't think story can be judged properly yet without seeing the conflix, climax and the resolution.

Normally when you date someone you would be lovely-dovey with each other but she only sit near him AFTER 10 years.

But thats not something that you can't ignore, I said it once and I say it again. MC is an idiot, he is s*upid to the point that it made me drop this novel. Non of his actions are like humans at all, while reading this novel I thought I'm reading about an AI in human form.
