Ye Man is the real young master in a novel where he is supposed to be the villainous cannon fodder, overshadowed by the protagonist who is loved by all. He is gloomy, insecure, and full of mischief. However, the system notes:

System: Wait, why is he blind?

The system instructs Ye Man to steal from the protagonist, Chi Jue. Full of bravado, Ye Man goes to confront him, only to hear the protagonist’s complicated and helpless voice from behind:

Chi Jue: “Xiao Man, let go of Mr. Xu first.”

Ye Man awkwardly feels the solid chest in front of him.

Ye Man: “Oh no, I’m doomed.”

Next, the system tells Ye Man to drug the protagonist’s fiancé to create conflict between them. After finally locating the room and administering the drug, Ye Man is suddenly grabbed from behind:

Man’s Voice: “Drugging someone right in front of me? Do you think I’m dead?”

Ye Man shrinks back:

Ye Man: “When did you come in?”

Xu Huaiting: “I was here from the start.”

System: : )

It turns out that Ye Man, the beautiful blind little pretender, cannot be the villainous cannon fodder. He is better suited to be cherished and carefully protected.

MC is clearly Gary sue and ML is kinda the basic trope tho he's not a red flag imo

The story is a bit boring, I wouldn't recommend if you're looking for an interesting plot but if you want something sweet and easy to read I guess give it a try

I can't bring myself to continue it any longer because of how plain the whole story is but the beginning wasn't bad

4.5⭐️

The premise of the novel might be nothing new, but several aspects made it stand on its own to be a good read, first and foremost being the MC.

The MC is a lovable character. He’s introduced as being flawed, petty, and holds grudges, and he is all of those things, but at the same time, he’s more.

... more>> If someone shows him a little bit of kindness, he’ll forever remember that kindness and return it tenfold.

If someone earns a spot in his heart, he’ll protect them and care for them as best he could.

Throughout the novel, we’re shown that the MC is a product of his environment and experiences, and, in fact, despite being arrogant and accepting of his flaws, he has a low view of himself and his worth, mostly seeing himself as his flaws.

However, truth was, without noticing it himself, he was a person who loved fiercely and showed kindness to those around him, and had gained the love and care of the people by his side.

Most of the novel is about the MC healing from his past and slowly learning how to see beyond his preconceived notions of himself and his worth.

The ML was also pretty good, he’s decisive and knows what he wants. Seeing that he’s falling for the MC, he pretty much doesn’t hide his intentions and feelings, so much so that MC knows the ML likes him despite them not saying it in words.

Spoiler

There was a scene in which the MC was being confessed to by someone else but he didn’t see it that way. The ML told MC that he was being confessed to and MC’s reflexive response was something along the lines of “Impossible! If he likes me, he should act like you do”

[collapse]

The ML was also someone the MC could relax with and not have to pretend in front of, which was important since the MC often puts up a mask to make himself likeable as a way to survive.

In the ML’s words, “There are so many good people in the world, but I don’t like any of them, I only like you.”

In short, this novel is a good romance and character focused story.

I also like how the “Novel World”’s protagonist, aka the MC’s new second brother/the fake young master, was actually a good person. Usually in novels with premise like this, the OG Protagonist is villainized.

The MC’s biological parents on the other hand, are useless and the MC’s elder brothers (including the fake young master) acted more like parents than they did.

The mother did have some scenes and had a realisation later on in the series regarding her relationship with the MC, but overall, they might as well not be there.

The background conflicts regarding the ML’s past and family weren’t given much focus, which I wish they had been, but it’s fine, it didn’t affect the story that much though it could have added more to the ML’s character.

Either way, this was a good read! <<less

The story is alright, but the MC is what makes it a 4 stars.

The ML is the usual rich, powerful, cold, handsome,... But he has emotions and is not afraid of communicating them, plus the author is really good at crafting her characters' personnalities. You understand what they think and feel. It's quite rare for this type of ML to have feelings other than possessiveness, but unexpectantly, the author did gave him feelings. So even if that's the only difference with the usual ML template, it gave him a little... more>> life.

The MC is a scheming, pitiful, adorable white lotus, he could be a dumb villain that has to be face-slapped in another story. But here, the author explains to us why he only knows how to act like a victim, cry prettily,... and must be loved by us reader. He is simple and complex, naive and scheming, good and petty and the reason I really recommend this novel, especially to those who like a good crying.

The plot was finally more about the emotional journey of the MC, even if the villainous cannon fodder part was fun, but the ML's family revenge was a copy/paste of all the other books. The lenght was just right, unfortunately I didn't find the extras. <<less

it'sa bit repetitive, but I actually quite like the family conflict. MC, the real young master, was an abandoned child who managed to grow up a bit crooked but mostly fine. He disliked the fake young master (now acknowledged as his second brother) quite a bit and often harassed him (understandable since the family naturally favored the second brother more, including assets ownership). Originally the family was tense because MC kept framing his second brother but everyone gradually loosened up when they realized MC was only capable of pulling annoying... more>> harmless pranks. I like that they don't get along right away; the family was already slightly disfunctional with the first child basically raising the second child. The children were self-sufficient, then came MC who diligently made a fuss partly because of his missions. Mc's mother's apology summarised the family's unease
Spoiler

"I'm sorry. I've missed the time to love you unconditionally." MC replied "i won't love you unconditionally either."

. I like that their familial love needs hard work to grow and bloom.

cringeworthy descriptions about ML in the earlier chapters (lmao) and random italian aside, ML is very good and patient with MC. He saw right through MC, doting, and firm when he needs to be. <<less
