To make things worse, she gets picked up by a sick and deaf man named Chen Miansheng, who lives in a small town.
The system told her that she could only return to human form when someone truly fell in love with her.
But the person she spends the most time with every day is only Chen Miansheng.
__
So Fei Yan started trying all sorts of things each day—catching little fish, sneaking herbs, rolling around to act cute, and begging for hugs.
Fei Yan: What evil thoughts could a little orange cat possibly have? She just wants to be good to Chen Miansheng.
__
Later, when Chen Miansheng’s illnesses are completely cured thanks to Fei Yan’s secret efforts, Fei Yan proudly swishes her tail: Do you like this cat now?
But Chen Miansheng bends down, scoops her into his arms, and smiles helplessly: “Why is this little thing getting chubbier again?”
Fei Yan’s swaying tail froze: @#%&???
This cat is done. This cat is tired. Chen Miansheng, you heartless man.
__
Chen Miansheng is known in Dongfeng Town as the sickly, deaf pushover. He wheezes every three steps, coughs every five, and can’t hear a word you say, no matter how loudly you speak.
Everyone said he seemed to wear a mask—always calm and indifferent. That mask only began to crack after he brought home a little orange cat.
On the first day the cat arrived, all the classics and ancient texts in his house were shredded beyond recognition.
On the second day, a huge slab of cured meat mysteriously disappeared from the kitchen.
__
By the nth day, Chen Miansheng had fully recovered, but the little orange cat was nowhere to be found.
He searched every corner of the town like a madman but still couldn’t find her.
It wasn’t until he returned home that he saw a woman with skin as fair as snow sleeping on his own couch.
Chen Miansheng was stunned. But when he noticed the handmade cat collar on her neck, he calmly pinched it like always and gently asked with a smile:
“Young lady, who are you? And where’s my cat?”
