This does have some similarities with BTTH, such as broken engagement and MC's focus on fire cultivation, but after the initial chapters, it becomes very clear that this is not BTTH at all. BTTH is a far superior piece of work than this one.

Spoilers abound. Most of the story is basically like this:

MC has terrible talents, at least on the surface, but gains a pretty powerful cheat. He joins a medium-level faction for cultivation resources, where he is initially ridiculed by his fellow peers cause he sucks or his body... more>> sucks. Everybody and their mother are so arrogant that it's almost pathetic to read. MC has to endure mockery and threats, but will eventually retaliates when someone inevitably attacks or challenge him. Of course, he always win these. After this, when our MC shows his value, he is finally appreciated and praised to heaven, until a bigger talent comes along and he is suddenly the scum of the Earth again who doesn't know his own place.

In every faction that he joins, they don't simply invest or teach you. Oh no, they're all run by capitalists, you see. If you want something from them, you have to do missions for them and earn these arbitrary points, which you can tend buy it from them. Skills, weapons, pills, utilities, etc. And forget collective knowledge, since only the things you mulled over and realize with your own power will be helpful to you so there's almost no actual teaching involved in these factions and they literally expect you to figure everything out. 90% of MC's techniques and skills are earned this way, while the remaining 10% are from adventures.

Once MC reached a certain level of power, then it's tournament time. First, there are tournaments in sects. Followed by tournaments for the main tournament. Then there is finally the main tournament, supplemented with a detailed dossier of each opponent that MC will face, which includes information of their sects, their power level, their skills, their specialty, their weapons, their rivals, their friends, their mother, their father, their dog, their shoe size, their last meal, and a five page essay about the day they took their first baby steps.

All that matters is that MC wins. And all these poor bastards cease to matter anymore.

And he is then declared the best all around. And... that's about it. Author finds a reason to switch maps, transports MC before he reach the level cap where his cultivation starts to slow down, to a new better area and the cycle repeats. Mm? Oh yeah, there'll a war and... a treasure hunt... and a chase... And okay, maybe he comes back for some payback... But all in all... Rinse. Wash. Repeat.

Sounds familiar to anyone? Hm? Maybe it's because this is the same scenario as every single xianxia you've ever read in your life. Chances are, if you're reading this review, then you already know the xianxia mantra by heart.

I mean, This is a fine story to read if you just want to past the time, but don't expect anything more than a generic xianxia story. Except without romance. Yeah, that's right. This has a thousand chapters and there's no romance whatsoever. Maybe. I think this is the story's biggest failure. Some girls obviously like him. Some even throw themselves at him. But I'm at chapter 600ish and MC seems determined to star in the much anticipated sequel to the 40-Year-Old virg*n. I don't know where the author is going with this, but the joke here is that the author is married now and he's too scared of his wife to add romance into his story, let alone a harem.

Damn, the TMW curse strikes again! The MFer who put harem in the tags, you better be talking about the later chapters, because I'd sue your pants off for false advertis**ent otherwise!

Anyhow, let's talk power-levels, yum, my favorite. The power creep in this story is terrible. I've already read three map changes so far, and basically, the power levels are bullshit. Take the Yunhai level for an example. In MC's home, Yunhai level is so powerful and legendary that no one even knows about it. To even have a chance to cross the sea that separates each major continents/map, you have to be Yunhai or stronger. In the second map, Yunhai are the key powers of the sect that MC joins, just a level or two beneath the level cap. Third map. Yunhai is so bloody common that each one is basically the mayor of a city or some shit. And you don't even want to know how common MC becomes after each map changes, it's hilarious. I know, it's expected of xianxia, right. But it feels especially bad here because it's only been 600ish chapters and already the power hierarchy makes no sense. This is way too early, and I realize, this may be a sign that the author doesn't have a firm control of his story.

And another problem, let's talk about MC's cheats now. You know, the prizes that MC gains from adventure/killing/achievements. Except for a few key items (Golden Talisman, Star Sword), they're really pretty underwhelming. Most of them aren't all that flashy or impressive, and are basically just slightly better-than-normal weapons/techniques, which when collected together, makes MC a real powerhouse. But eventually, they become pretty worthless. Some of them will even beaten out by the stuff that MC buys from his sect once he reached high enough in the hierarchy. Basically, our MC is "normal overpowered", not "absurdly overpowered". There are geniuses around that have their own inheritance/cheats that are just as powerful as MC's. And the primary way MC eventually outgrow them is by gaining and quickly learning more powerful skills and techniques that will be completely common in the next map. So his cheats are now worth about nineteen dollars on amazon.

And, because of MC's main cheat, the Golden Talismen, his soul is incredible. This is his real cheat. While everybody else's soul is just default gray, his is purple (previously green and blue) and extraordinary powerful for his cultivation. This not only makes him learn quicker (10x, 100x, 1000x, etc), it makes him naturally inclined towards spirit and mental abilities. But, for most of the story, you'll see him choose to focus largely on his physical cultivation and won't touch any of the other stuff (illusions, spirit attacks) until much later. I honestly don't know how to feel about that.

But I really like MC's character. He kills, yes, but he's not ruthless or vicious. He's not the type to mu*der whole families and cities just to end a potential threat "at its roots". He actually have a conscience, he cares about people and actually try to protect the weak when possible. He loves his family and invest a lot to help his parents cultivate and live longer. He calls himself a loner, but he still make friends with people and even have a healthy bit of respect for his rivals. He's actually worked with weaker people before and pay them their slice of the pie, their just dues even when they've barely lift a finger to contribute to their success. He hold grudges, but at the same time, he won't take a rivalry too far and even forget past wrongs after a certain point. I see a lot of people calling MC arrogant, and yes, he is, but no more than anyone else in the story. It's pretty normal for him because he's a prodigy, a genius of his field. Aye, this MC is arrogant, but he also have class.

All in all, a very generic story with a decent MC that hits most of the typical tropes, but not quite as satisfying as some of the other stories that are already available. Seems like something the author wrote just to make a little extra money and haven't really put much thought on. Nonetheless, I will make an effort to read up to the most recent chapters and update this review later on if I can. I feel like I haven't actually encounter any major problems yet that would turn me off. The only major issue I have is the lack of romance. Otherwise, this would be a good xianxia to read in my spare time. The rest are minor problems that, you have to admit, pretty much comes with the genre.

But.

If anyone thinks that this actually deserves to be compared to a classic like BTTH, meet me outside when we lunch, we'll brawl it out, kay? <<less

So, about the plot. The MC is a boy named Xiao Yan Li Fuchen, a genius from a small clan, in a small city. But one day he lost his gift and became tr*sh. His fiancee, Nalan Yanran Guan Xue, broke off the engagement, his cousins bullied him, his father lost his position as the patriarch, his dog died, his favorite TV show got canceled, and he stepped on a pile of horse poop on his way home.

Fortunately, he got accepted by Jia Nan Academy Azure Water Sect. He became a disciple, face slapping horde after horde of overly sensitive young masters, armed with nothing but his sword and shoes that smelled like horse poop.

Oh, and his cheat. The super comprehension medallion that literally fell from the sky.

There is a semblance of plot. The MC has no other objective than to get strong. No actual villain yet. Just endless supply of young masters and unreasonable old farts whose favorite pastime is to harass Xiao Yan Fuchen (thank god this world doesn't have FB, imagine the stalking and online bullying Xiao Yan has to endure if there is). Then we got the beauties, whose names I can't remember. Doesn't matter, since they're basically interchangeable, anyway. We got the deus ex machina old men who bailed the MC whenever he's about to get f*cked. And of course peanut gallery whose "Ooohh" and "Ahhhh" never failed to warm the c*ckles of my heart.

The most amazing thing about this novel is, despite everything, I actually read the whole thing. I guess the writing is somewhat competent, even though it lacks soul and creativity. It's alright. Definitely not good, but not a total dumpsterfire.

People complaining about there being no romance...

But that's actually the best thing.

Aren't y'all tired of all the novels that are nothing buy copy+paste of WDQK where the MC is somehow god given human form and "beauties that topple empires" are all panting over his d*ck as though he's the only male in the entire world?

... more>> Pathetic.

I like this novel. Sure, it's for the most part just a generic xianxia, but it manages to keep you engaged in the story and the MC doesn go full ret*rd. Furthermore, there's no harem -and that already elevates it over the pile of garbage consisting of tr*sh like WGQK, BTTH and so on.

And I like the MC. He is just pursuing immortality, not letting himself be distracted by hoes and other petty disputes. He is loyal and does not forget about his family - he saved his family, his sect and even improved the 'potential' of his parents so they could live a longer, fulfilling life. When an outside threat endangered the entire continent he protected even the sects that used to persecute him (after he killed the main culprits) - he didn't just massacre the whole sect because of 1 guy. He's a decent dude.

The story is certainly not 5 stars - more like 3 stars or so - but I'm giving it this rating to counter the biased rating of others <<less

I rated it 2 because their is nothing unique so far although I read only very few chapters I can still tell after reading hundreds of similar novels like this how bland this novel is.

Spoiler

Similar novel like this

    • MC got weaken for what so ever reason got mock and ridicule with no end by his own clan.
    • MC fiancee broke their engagement and the fiancee clan also has a fall out with MC's Clan.
    • Out of nowhere Plot Armor activates and MC's OPness are unleash.
    • MC is fighting major clan becoming enemies for the slight idiotic reason.
    • Betrayal from some clan members who is jealous of MC's talent

When I said Unique part was missing is...

    • NO ROMANCE what so ever the MC's love life is as plain as a plank of wood.
    • NO guidance from any legendary granpa's or grandma's
    • NO moral support from supporting characters (yeah no side kick's)
    • NO epic background (No foreshadowing of epicness)
    • NO epic schemes or plot the enemies is like puppet being program to fight the MC

and so on.. (it's still to early to judge this novel but god forgive me it was a really boring reading.

[collapse]

No offense but this novel is not for me, just a bias review from me but please forgive me when I say that it was one very very very boring read... (I was reading this out of pure curiosity I love reading this kind of novel but that is if their is something unique or different from it which make it interesting)

I did my best forcing my self to read up to ch37 but I almost poke blood

Spoiler

I mean where the hell did sport man ship go it was discarded by the author MC's family was thrown away by their own ancestor (seriously the most epic plot except I read this like hundred time before) They are like fighting a f*cking tournament and yet by the end I was like what the hell is the purpose of that tournament? MC got 1st as expected but people who got tr*sh by MC still manage to enter via backdoor (and again to hell with this cliche plot) so MC being number one doesn't make sense at all.

And what's worse about this novel is the f*cking rating of bones I was like can you stop mentioning about bone's! 2 star bone 3 star bone star what so ever It is really a waste of words! It's already annoying enough to read this about MC's enemies then even some random character A B C and their BONES is still f*Cking highlighted what the hell is this abnormal obsession of BONE rankings! And author was like insert some line that even normal bones can become amazing but for F*CK sake stop mentioning BONE BONE BONE! good this is the most hated word I have today Every chapter has like Bone star this and Bone star that!

I for one like the novel. I wanted to wait for a bit more chapters, but seeing people already bash it after reading 20-30 chapters, I have to write something.

You have a pretty standard start - small town, genius fallen from grace makes his return, clan fights. People call these things cliche, but they are more like the basic elements of almost every xianxia. You can't read xianxia and expect to not have these elements, you can only be surprised if they are not present (pleasantly or not depending on... more>> how its done), but you can't bash a xianxia for having them.

Useless chapter content is reduced to the minimum - the audience comments are usually 3-4 sentences at maximum, the annoying arrogant enemies are dealt with pretty fast.

Also to the person who want them to stop talking about bone frames - bone frames are used to determine the talent of an individual, so not talking about them... I mean you don't like the word "bone" so the novel is bad for using it often?

Translation quality and editing is pretty good, but slow. <<less

Arrogance, arrogance, cliche, and arrogance!!

That's all I saw in this novel and the manhua. Just read the manhua, there is not a single chap without mc's smug face (NOT A SINGLE ONE). The relations are plain, the actual plotline is messy, and power is basically overrated. Any other geniuses are tr*sh, and you will find greater genius, and a greater bone frame with every frikkin scene. After which, the plot armour of MC will turn him above all these geniuses, girls will scream but they exist as decorations. Simple 'dishonour'... more>> will lead to death- it makes you wonder who the villian is. Simple followers who were forced by their masters to block or hurt (not always kill) MC are also killed, or crippled.

My thoughts may be different from others due to different tastes in novels, so I wont rate it nor discourage others from reading it. <<less

This novel is a fast paced, generic, sh*t story without a single ounce of understandable plot. If you are a new reader, stay the hell away from this shitstain, because this is one of the worst novels to read unless you've read at least 50 such novels before so that you can fill in the blanks in your head.

Why, you might ask? Well, dear reader, it's because this novel has next to no descriptions of places that MC goes to. There are names, but that's it. All places can just... more>> be named place A, place B, place C... because there's nothing special about those places. Just a name, and that's it.

Another point is that this novel is so f*cking fast paced it's like I'm reading a manhua adaptation without pictures. Most chapters will just go on like this: "MC finished practicing technique A, then he went to place B, then he talked to NPC number 345., then he found out that there is a tournament coming in a few months, then MC started training, time skip out of nowhere, time for the tournament!" The time skips in this novel happen all the time, and can even happen multiple times in a single chapter. If you miss a time skip, don't worry, it doesn't matter anyway. The only thing you need to know is that MC is always OP, and will always win no matter the cultivation realm or the number of enemies. If he can't win, then he'll just make it a tie and wait for another time skip and tournament where he'll just beat enemies with one slash.

There is also plot armor being activated whenever the MC is about to die from an enemy so strong that not even his billion random techniques can save his ass and force a tie. The plot armor is usually in the form of a convenient old man appearing out of nowhere and disappearing just as fast, or if the enemy possesses people then they'll just be destroyed by the golden talisman in MC's head.

MC's whole motivation to being strong is just dull. He was a genius who somehow lost his talent, got bullied, his father lost his position in the family, his fiance annulled their marriage, his young master cousin bullied him, then he wished to punch the heavens, and suddenly a golden talisman 360 no scoped him in the head from the heavens. And that's it. No motivation, just become stronger because yes.

The characters are the worst part of the novel, and that includes the MC. 98.5% of characters in the novel are arrogant young master characters or braindead "You dare?!" elders. The 1% is taken by women who stand around just to be impressed by MC and 0.5% by MC's "friends" who last for 5 chapters at most and then disappear in the vast ocean of pointless characters.

The descriptions of characters are terrible, I mean what is "he looked fierce and supreme as if he were the emperor among mortals" supposed to tell me about someone's appearance??? I don't know anything about them apart from their names, something that I'll just forget once MC beats him up because the author will throw him out of the story. The author invents so many characters in a single chapter, I'm convinced that even Buddha would be pissed off trying to keep a track of all of them.

The MC himself is just another arrogant character, he's no different from the young masters he beats up. In the first chapters he wasn't so over the top arrogant, although there were many hints to that, but in the later chapters he devolves into an asshat that constantly throws insults at his enemies even if they don't insult him first, calling their techniques and bone frames tr*sh and then getting angry when he is in a losing position. His thought process is non-existent, just cultivate for no reason, be number 1 in another tournament, cultivate again, protect his useless parents again, another tournament.... The idiot doesn't even question the golden talisman in his head, he just accepts the situation in a millisecond and goes to cultivate. Also, don't expect any romance from this guy. He's completely into cultivation that he might as well be neutered.

The story: None. Zero. I just don't have anything to say about it. Sure there's a demon war happening later, but it all just comes down to humans losing any battle and MC saving the situation after he gets strong enough. Boring as f*ck.

The plot: cultivate, cultivate, tournament, tournament, tournament, cultivate, cultivate, beat up young master, impress a girl, cultivate, beat up elder, tournament, tournament, tournament, kill demons, cultivate, become the strongest person on the continent only to then be shipped off to a stronger continent before you reach the level cap. And thus the cursed cycle continues. <<less

[collapse]

Obviously, the above is paraphrased, but wow that is incredibly juvenile. The logic portion was baffling.

Just last chapter the author randomly invented a cultivation method. He claimed the new method was the "real reason" some important plot point happened. I've never seen such a blatant retcon after only 11 chapters. I imagine the thought process went something like this: "blah, this cultivation method is boring. Let's invent a new one and make it important to the plot!" He could've introduced it like any other skill or ability but he chose to change history.

I can't imagine this novel getting any better. This author clearly has some issues he needs to work out before he writes another novel. Assuming he doesn't sink his career with this one. For some reason people are still reading this tr*sh after 1000 chapters but I truly can't understand why. <<less

This novel is one of the best of its kind. I mean the best of the "cliche, arrogant young masters, broken engagement face slapping novel types", because

  1. The novel never drags too much and the cultivation is quite fast paced, with OP MC.
  2. While there is a lot of face slapping it is not overly done. Plus there is some charachter development and story proggression as well. The author doesnt just throw ret*rded enemies so MC can have people to face slap and proggress the story this way. There is some actual plot as well.
  3. The cultivation system. I like the cultivation system because its not just about getting to higher realms by refining treasures and natural resources, but it has more nice details about it which you'll find out soon in the novel.
  4. There is no s*upid-cringe romance/harem that usually sucks in this kind of novels. The MC is quite goal oriented and also he is not one to make s*upid decisions every few chapters which almost lead him to his death, and he gets saved by some deus-ex-machina plot armor.
Anyway, concluding, i'd like to say that this is a very cliche novel but it is one of the best among these type of cliche novels and definetely deserves more recognition compared to some other tr*sh (PMG im talking... more>> about you and similar other tr*shy novels).

Oh, also a reminder for those who are starting to read it: Dont drop the novel just because of the first 20 chapters. I almost dropped the novel there as well because the plot is just so ret*rded at the start. But thats only about the first 20 chapters or so, and there is no more ret*rded stuff like that happening in the novel.

I'd normally rate this 3stars, which is very high among these cliche novels, but i'll give it a generous 5, because I see its getting a lot of undeserving hate, which I really think happens because of the first 20 chapters of the novel, which almost made me drop it. <<less

I've never dropped a novel so fast before

The story is super rushed, feels like this is a manhua adaptation of a novel instead of a novel, like the author was doing line of coke in-between paragraphs.

Either the dialogue is poor or the translation is terrible. All the conversations feel stiff.

I picked this up expecting a mediocre cultivation novel to kill time, and somehow I was still disappointed.

Holy, I really can't understand people, this novel is REALLY good, I read hundreds of novels and was looking for something simple, without too much cliche and good fights and I found.

This novel has some cliches but what's good its the overall situation, the author thinks about everything and created a world where almost everything makes sense, you will see real sects that support their disciples and it's not about someone being bullied over and over again.

You will see the older disciples and it will not be that situation that... more>> has a tournament every 5 years but no ones knows about who won 15 years ago, the author will show and talk about it, he really did a great job in world creation.

Anyways, it gets better, at the beginning it's somewhat strange, kinda too fast paced but it will slow down and it'll make you appreciate even more if you like the genre.

This novel was not supposed to have less than 4.0, there are so many sh*t novels above that I had to gave it 5.0. <<less

an average cultivation novel.

the start is cliche and to be honest I skipped over half of the clan/family crap because I've read the same thing in every other xuanhuan. It has the usual continuous bevy of arrogant young masters that appear; MC can't even take a piss without offending one and often he manages to tick off more than one group at a time so he has several clans/families after him all at once. So far there is no badly written attempts at romance to get in the way of... more>> plot progression, which I am happy about. if you like arrogant MC who don't even pretend to hide their abilities and lots and lots of face slapping, you'll like this. <<less

So far. I really enjoy the story and wish for it to be complete❤️

You can say the story is generic. The main character had a terrible talent chu chu, but luckily got a cheat (not a system tho)

The MC, Li Fuchen grew stronger as more idiot greedy enemies appear, face slapping here and there. Sometimes its frustrating since he always attracts trouble whenever he went. Well, its not surprising since its a xianxia? A world where you need a lot of resources to advance to the next stage of... more>> cultivation. Obviously, he also had a plot armor.

Li Fuchen is not that evil, he pays respect to the people who deserves respect and not to the people who arent. He is also familial and so far, he didn't forget what good things people did to him. He is hypocrite but not to the point that its too irritating, maybe some scene. But in the end of the story, its not bad. Since its fine to make some strong acquaintances for back up or something. It benefitted him anyway.

The MC is calm and cautious at first, then when he gained strength to protect himself. He becomes leisurely arrogant, not too much though. Well, he's strong so he has the right to be arrogant.

And there's also some good side character. They helped the MC, also protected him. They are strong but of course MC still surpassed them.

Though some enemy becomes his ally, some that aren't really worth saving was saved, which left me dissatisfied.

The enemies always had a backer, saying if you'll kill me, my master, my ancestor or chu chu, won't let you go. But the MC still kill them. He gave one chance sometimes.

And oh, this is always focused on MC. Their admiration, like how shocking his talent is, unbelievable, astonishing and etc...

What I like about the MC is that, despite him had cheat. He is hard working, not that s*upid either. Though sometimes his decision leads him to get in trouble, well, in the end, they still end up as his stepping stone.

There is no romance so far but there's some variable female lead. Though not really sure of there's romance, which I really hope there's none.

Oh some characters also gone, I mean, they weren't mentioned anymore that even I, also forgotten about them haha.

As for character development, idk, I like the way he is rn, even better if he gets colder or something haha.

Anyways, if you're here for fun and entertainment. If you like OP MC that only admire great beauty but no desire of pursuing them or being moved by them.

An MC who's only focused is getting stronger to protect himself and his family. Then try this. It might not great for you or boring but it may also make you enjoy it.

Anyways, I give thanks to the author of this and to the translator, who keeps translating this despite how messy the raws is and how low the rating❤️ <<less

I don't see any harem and 'love' towards the MC cuz all the conversation in this novel seems so bland. The MC has basically no persona. And after reading this novel, I have acquired the skill to ignore all those useless reactions from crowd when MC does something unreal lol.

Still, I like how the MC's sect protected him after seeing his worth, not ignore him for his low bone frame and stuff.

Not a good cultivation novel imo but still better than some of those tr*shy ones in here.

Totally re wrote a detailed review only to lose it.

Not going to waste my time writing it all out again. No romance. Too many fortunate encounters. Author always talking about how good the MC is. He pretends to be ruthless but then downplays repeated attempts from others to kill him just because of their family and status. Completely contradicting what he did before. Dropped.

The story is fast pace that most encounter is not well written just like everytime he saw some good herbs another enemy pops out like an insect and then chain reaction start after kill, fight, or disagreement another story to add (their whole clan or family). The reason why I still read it is because its not like the others xianxia LN where it has a turn off plot (s*upid love story, anoying companion etc.) but of course it is another typical average xianxia LN (story, plot, setting etc.) ???

I enjoyed it up to ch. 676. 5 stars of enjoyment. But that was the point at which the romance red flags got too strong for me. Nothing even remotely romantic happened. However, you could tell by the author's intent that there would be something down the line. The fact that we saw her POV and learned specifically about how she was cultivating... All of that was a signal. Maybe it's childish on my part to stop reading just because of that. They might not get together for a while.... more>> But I don’t care. The damage is done. This isn't my first rodeo.

Now for a little rant that might seem a bit negative and out of nowhere.

Unpopular opinion... Frankly, whether the romance would end up being a big deal or a small one, I don't care. I don't want to see it when I'm reading cultivation fantasy or a genre similar that has a male protagonist. And if there is a romance, I would want both parties involved to be the main protagonists from the beginning. Both povs from the beginning. Not just forcing me, the reader, to suddenly adjust to a new perspective and new protagonist somewhere down the line. I want to see an INDIVIDUAL get stronger. I want to see them achieve greatness without the influence of other people. The second a love interest gets involved, they become weak willed. They either take too many risks or they are afraid to take any. They take the love interest's opinions into consideration. The MC becomes easily influenced and I hate it. I actually predominantly read adult romance novels, that's why I'm so particular. I have very strong preferences. (Harlequins from the late 70s and into the 80s are my wheelhouse.)

This is my first review on this website, that's why I'm ranting here specifically. Other stories have antagonized me far worse and that's why my response is getting increasingly more negative with every one that I read. It's pretty funny, though, how other people are complaining about exactly the opposite. 😂😂😂 <<less

On a different website, I wrote a review for Coiling Dragon/Panlong titled "Linley, and the Necropolis of Side Characters". This was because that story had a terrible habit of completely neglecting any character but the MC; they'd go forgotten for thousands of literal years due to the timeskips and either die or be irrelevant to the story.

This is that, but worse. The MC never gets close to anyone. All the guys are arrogant young masters or people who exist to praise the MC. The women all like the MC but... more>> will never keep up with his cultivation and are thus left in the dust. So far there has only been 1 exception who kept pace, but I have no doubt she'll be left behind soon as well.

It's just "cultivate, lucky encounter, defeat a young master, run from his master, cultivate, lucky encounter, defeat the master, run from their master, etc" which is pretty standard for xianxia, but normally it's part of long arcs. Here... the arcs are tiny. The MC's cultivation pace is so insane people who were entire cultivation realms ahead of him for whom he literally couldn't fight will be defeated with ease in like 50 chapters, which sounds like a lot but is nothing when the novel is 1400 chapters long.

But I stuck with it, regardless. Why did I stick with it for so long? Because the set pieces are interesting. The world is made in an interesting way that keeps you immersed. Frankly, it's the only think that's keeping it above 1 star. I like reading about the settings. But... every time I'm like "wow, what an interesting setting", the author gets distracted and suddenly we are in a new setting and we will never return to explore that prior one.

Overall, it's a fine time waste, but not a very deep or interesting story. <<less
