Novel is overall pretty good, but I don't think it deserves 4.7 rating at all. After story sifted to wildlands characters are increasingly just saying same gag lines and we have couple plots/developments on repeat. Overall quality of the novel is rapidly decreasing, story and characters are just becoming more 2D.

Actually same thing happened to tr*sh of count's family, it just took a bit longer to be apparent. We have 99% same banter and plot going on repeat without any real development. Thus I think I finally got bored of... more>> it at 300+ something.

If we just looked at what happened before wildlands I would say novel is deserving of the rating maybe 4 at most. But wildlands has been ~2 and overall disappointment as quality kept on decreasing. Now that all the banter and humor has become repetitive and old, you start to see other other faults, one of which is JudeWiki that basically knows everything so there's no need to develop anything resembling proper plot.

You can basically characterize both main characters at this point like this: Jude is all knowing, Cornelia is increasingly dumb that somehow know how to do everything by instinct. Banter was fun at start, but now it's just repetitive and lesser quality. At this point maybe 10% is something that actually serves the story.

I'm going to give 3 stars because at this point this s*upidity hasn't gone for long, but I would imagine if I read a bit more I would just give up and give it an 2. <<less

The novel is awesome and I love it but as I was already a fan of the author's other books this is not a completely objective review :p

However, there is something that I have to say: The translator is awesome! I mean he/she already said at the first chapter that he/she knows nothing in Korean. But still with awesome editing and dedication it is absolutely amazingly easy to read. It is so good that I have to admit I have seen novels that is translated by actual translators that is... more>> way harder to read.

Overall: Awesome novel! Awesome Translator! Must Read! <<less

I usually like generic stuff, and there is nothing more generic than SAO (S1, S2, S3, the latest seasons weren't so bad) in my opinion. Now we have this plot, very similar to that, but more comedic I suppose.

I'm sick of ML honestly. There's a silver lining between teasing someone and simply bullying them. A joke isn't a joke if one party is enjoying it at someone else's expense. Idk if the "tsundere" trope can explain that, but being always reminded that you're forever n. 2 ain't nice.

About FL.... more>> I will only talk about her because at least in my review she'll be the #1. My girl hard-carried the team ok? Well, at least physically. If put nicely, she's the brawn and he's the brain. But in reality, she's just a meat shield even tho she's a wizard class.

Like, come on author! What kind of blatant favoritism is that? Are you perhaps low-key misogynistic or what? I know that #2 trope and stuff.

Characters aside. I don't like the dynamics of the story. It's too "meh" for me.

"I work hard but there's that bastard who's loved by the heavens and sucks out my luck too." Said the FL in my head. But obviously, she can't because she's a tsundere. Yeaaah.

I'm not trying to be a feminist. But that is just unfair on another level. If you write it with the FL POV then we have some kind of hilarious "relatable" novel. But with the perspective of the "more veteran than the other veteran players" whose plot-armor can survive even the empty vacuum of space that are the plot-holes. Meh.

The comedy and romance were "cute" I suppose. But I couldn't discern even the slightest bit of fluffiness from it.

It was definitely a novel experience, not positive, but at least it was something "new" to add to my archives...

Last point of my argument. One can really notice when a romance novel is written by a male author. <<less

So... speed read this to see what all the review/rating hype was about. Basically another generic transmigration-into-game novel recently written in 2020, nothing particularly fascinating. It got the automatic NU +1 star buff because it's Korean. I can see why it may be a big hit for younger audiences, although it's not my cup of tea. It's definitely NOT shounen, probably more young adult.

SUMMARY
ML and FL are randomly transmigrated into a game (*cough* SAO). They are both top level players (*cough* SAO). ML is always just one step better... more>> (*cough* Kirito). They have to use their previous experiences to power-level and find a way to survive in the apocalyptic future of the game.

COMMENTS
(1) Translation is... supposedly good?
No idea. But that seems to be the recurring comment on all the previous reviews, and the translation is pretty hyperdetailed. Would've preferred if they made it more English colloquial otherwise it's breaks immersion a little.
Overall it's readable, but suffers from the typical KR writing style issue where half the chapter consists of very short, very rapid, back-and-forth conversations, so you lose track of who's talking when it's translated to English. That's the author's issue though.

You know the kind.
"Hey!" (Person A)
"What??" (Person B)
"It's me!" (Person A)
"What???" (Person B)
"Yeeaah!" (Person A)
"What??" (Person B)
"Ok!!" (Person A)

(2) Nothing new or inspiring... just no plot holes
Pretty generic transmigration where the main characters retain their game system abilities (xx% modifiers, etc) and fight for survival.
Nothing new or interesting that wasn't written in numerous other novels years ago.
SAO. Overlord. Death Flags Show No Sign of Ending. The entire. Hack franchise. Amber Sword. Legendary Mechanic. Advent of the Archmage. Night Ranger.

Plot progression is basically main characters power-leveling through the game in various episodic scenarios that author randomly inserts. Situation A/B/C/D/E comes up, because it's part of the sequence of game missions, duh! So author doesn't have to prepare any plot beforehand.

The side characters are one-dimensional cardboard cutouts.
ML's good brother is a good brother. FL's stoic father is a stoic father. No real deviation from how they were written as generic NPCs, with very little character development. MCs only interact superficially with all side characters. Results in little immersion into the transmigrated world so it just feels like a game, which is disappointing.

As a result of all of the above, you can't actually find any obvious plot holes with the way the novel is written. And I grudgingly have to give it 4 stars.
But it's just so generic like cheese pizza. It's pretty hard to mess up cheese pizza.

EDIT: Some fans of the novel reached out to me about more interesting plot developments later in the novel. This review is up to C64.
Just a disclaimer that I'm not knocking on generic novels if they are cohesively put together, which is the case for this novel and hence my 4-star rating. Else it would've been lower.

The supposed slight twist is that the two transmigrators are both top level players with a history of rivalry. I guess what readers are really drawn to is the banter between the two? But the conversations are pretty juvenile, something that'd interest teenagers but kinda plain vanilla for adults.
Spoiler

Since ML and FL are engaged in-game, the banter and teasing usually revolves around misunderstanding of their affection for each other. You know the kind.
ML whispers to FL.
Bystanders think they are expressing concern/love for the other.
How cute!

ML and FL meet random fairies who are drawn to beautiful things.
They fuss over the ML and FL over how good looking they are and comment what an awesome couple they are.
How cute!

ML constantly teases FL suggestively, despite claiming having no interest in her.
FL constantly acts tsudere/bakadere (I guess that's the term... hard to follow what kids call 'em these days).
How cute!

Ugh.

[collapse]
ML is probably early 20s, FL is probably late teens/university student. <<less

First of all, this novel isn't sexist. Sure, Jude will always be stronger than Cordelia but that is repeatedly justified, shown by various elements:

    • Spoiler

Jude's heavenly martial body (unparalleled martial talent) that was literally mentioned in the second chapter

      [collapse]
    • Spoiler

Jude's near perfect memory due to the Memory Palace method

      [collapse]
    • Spoiler

his past life and how that has made him very cunning and practical

      [collapse]
    • Spoiler

      Ninth Heavens and Nine Doors

      [collapse]
    • Spoiler

Cordelia was literally an 18-year old schoolgirl in her past life with little interactions with men, while Jude was older than her and seems to have a dark[ish] past. There will obviously be a difference in both attitudes and who is stronger.

      [collapse]
Despite these things, this novel does a great job allowing Cordelia to catch up to Jude in strength.

There have been so many Chinese and Korean novels that express way worse content in their novels and y'all mfs read it anyways. Not to mention, this site is full of harem fanatics (including myself) so since when did y'all give a shit???

Onto the review:

A solid fantasy story about the smartest guy (Outboxer --> Jude) and a talented woman (YellowStorm --> Cordelia) reincarnating into the bodies of the characters of their favorite video game. Both of these individuals were the number 1 and number 2 ranked players in the game, so you know they are hella good at it and are game addicts. The world they have reincarnated into models the video game exactly. Their new goal is to use their extensive game knowledge to prevent the various tragedies that are soon to befall the world in the form of barbarians, demons, dragons, deaths of powerful figures and more. The author does a wonderful job with the world and character building and does not forget a single detail.

Pros:

    • wonderful ML and FL
    • author allows us to see the perspectives of both leads, rather than just Jude the entire time
    • wonderful budding romance
    • hella entertaining fantasy story
    • great side characters
    • amazing world building
    • comedy elements
    • author never forgets a single detail
    • its clear that the author planned out the story
    • translators do a great job explaining Korean lore or unknown terms covered in the novel (props to the translators for making such a wonderful version of Ending Maker btw)
Cons:

    • the only con I could think of I guess (and this isn't really even a con) is that the stakes aren't super high
EDIT: I just caught up to the novel's ending and I have to say, I'm not fully satisfied. Even the translator did point out that the author rushed the series towards the end. However, I finished this goated series and am looking forward to reading this author's other works. My rating won't go down, because I remember how amazing this series was at the beginning. It was well-thought out, and the cast of characters was and still is amazing. I am really impressed with the way the author somewhat explained the reincarnation element. Although it took me a good minute to understand, I am glad it wasn't un-addressed by the story (which many other novels do).

The only problems I have are:

  • Lucas and his unrealistic buffs at the end of the series
    • Spoiler

His quick-ass power climb did seem like bullsh*t as we were made to believe that he was only a teen genius at the sword, and would reach the heights of Sword/Grand Sword Master after a couple of years. He was viewed as inferior to Jude and Maximillian and I also thought Leon was stronger than him until Leon and Lucas sparred. Not to mention his fight with Maximillian was bland as hell. Although, Lucas vs. Duke wasn't bad.

      [collapse]
  • The final arc of this series was definitely rushed but the author managed to preserve the quality of the series. However, the translator stated that the author initially wanted the final arc (Empire arc) to be as long as the Wild Lands arc. If that were to happen, I think I would have been much more satisfied with the series and probably upgrade it to a 5-star rating.
    • Spoiler

honestly I understand why many of the characters needed to get buffed, because the enemies they were about to face were going to be many levels higher compared to what they are used to, such as top-ranking demonic humans, grand sword masters, archangels, and even an overlord of hell

      [collapse]
  • The author could have elaborated into the power system of the swordsmen and women, because it wasn't super clear how to scale each swords person in rank until the "sword horizon" stuff was explained near the end of the novel. Much more screen time could have been given to Maximillian and the Sword God when thinking about how much they were being talked about throughout the entire novel, but that's just me being picky.

The average rating is 4.5 stars?! 😳 I don't really mind a formulaic plot or OP MC's, but it better have a great and entertaining dialogues. A huge chunk of every chapter is filled with the 2 leads' banter, which is nothing but repetitive cringe.

J: (details from the game) "you should know that since you're number 2."

C: (lies)

... more>> J: (finds out that she's lying) "no wonder you're only number 2)

Seriously! How could anyone stand this? It's really annoying how the male lead always put down the female lead for being the number 2. Like dude, someone actually gets laid other than playing that s*upid game. Chill! <<less

This is a good novel. It isn’t the best when compared to novels like Reverend Insanity but it is a good read. Translation is good as well. Don’t be disturbed by the reviewers that call this novel “sexist”. A lot of the reasons they give for this novel being “sexist” is just them cherry picking evidence to see it as sexist. Read it first and then decide for yourself if it is sexist or not.

Made an account just to give a review for this masterpiece.

I've read numerous LN's and this is one of the best and my favourite (so far).

  1. The story is fun without being complex and heavy with great pacing. The events aren't dragged out by long fight scenes or "coincidental" problems that arise during missions. You won't feel frustrated by that at the very least.
  2. A rare novel where there are 2 main characters (for me, since I haven't seen any besides this). Legit 2MCs because the story focuses equally on both of them. Their character growth, unique/fun relationships with others and most importantly the interaction between the both of them have me squealing on my bed like a teenage girl. Do not worry, this novel doesn't place one MC higher than the other.
  3. Translation quality is superb. Translator says he doesn't know Korean and uses MTL but I've been seriously doubting that ever since the first 10 chapters. I guess his command of the English language is that great to be able to piece together a translation of this quality.
Conclusion, a great fantasy action adventure series topped off with 10/10 romance (I'm biased to romance since it's scarce in action novels). It ain't easy adding romance to novels like this yo!

I usually don't like game oriented novels as they are often cringy and bad with logic. This one however is none of that, instead it's very entartaining read, all actions and events make perfect sense and main couple banter is just so cute.

One of the best novels here, so I fully recommend.

This is just so damn good! And dang, it's already like this when the translator (who already did a very wonderful job) said that her translations are more than 80 percent MTLed. What more once it gets picked up by an actual korean translator? So so so recommended. I don't think I need to add more reasons why it's awesome when the other reviewers did it already.

Pitch perfect! One of the best of the reincarnation stories. Experienced gamers living in the game they enjoyed - isn't this the dream? And actually smart characters who act smart, not just described as smart. The adorable relationships are the cherries on top. Thanks to the translator for this one. If this gets picked up by an English publisher, I'd definitely throw money on it!

Edit:

Finally finished the main story! The translator did an upstanding job. There was no trace of MTL and was well-researched. Thank you, Miss Angie! Too... more>> bad she had to erase it before the rest of the side stories got translated due to DMCA.

Regarding the story: I stand by my original comment. It had well-balanced elements of (sickeningly sweet) romance, action, and RPG adventure though a bit rushed at the end. Those who comment that it is sexist or it falls heavily on the male MC, I feel like they either a) didn't read further than the first arcs where Jude needed to cure his disease; or b) they are willfully ignoring the job dynamics that the MCs possess. Highly recommend this story~! <<less

I had to make an account just to write this review because of some reviews I've seen of the series. As a disclaimer I'm coming off that high from when you start reading a new interesting story still so I'm somewhat biased.

I've seen a few reviews claiming blatant sexism because the male lead gets better rewards than the female lead at some points or kill steals.

When it comes to level leads and kill stealing I don't have much to say. The person that gets the last lead gets more EXP... more>> than the rest of the party, when the world was a game the male lead was rank 1 and they intentionally compete for the last hit, so in the early parts of the story the male lead is often 1 or 2 levels higher. As the story progresses their level differences stop being mentioned as often as their romance slowly progresses. It's also important to note that their level differences hold little relevance in which one is more powerful throughout the story because both are always approximately the same level as they're always together.

As for the claims of sexism with rewards. All I can say is that from the reviews of those that have claimed this, it's quite apparent that they haven't read too far into the novel. It's an RPG world where the main characters have different classes and unbalanced starts! The story may appear biased towards the male lead in the early chapters, and that's because the male lead starts out way behind the female lead in terms of stats and skills. The female lead is a low level wizard, but begins with basic attack and utility spells. Meanwhile the male lead is a martial artist who has lower physical stats than the female lead. Because of this their journey begins with their main priority being curing and strengthening the male lead while the female lead basically carries their party while the male lead focuses on playing catch up.

Spoiler

At Frost Anvil the main characters run into their first real crisis in the story because the male lead is busy absorbing a medicine to cure his sickness when a demonic human that is quite powerful for an early game enemy attacks the male and female lead. The female lead desperately tries to protect the male lead while he's defenseless, but ends up needing to be saved by the male lead because the enemy is too high level.

This is the beginning of a pattern where the female lead can't cope, and the more powerful male lead swoops in and saves the day right?

That's what it felt like some reviews were trying to make the readers believe it felt like to me. But it's not a recurring theme in the story. In the first place, if their positions were reversed at this point in the story the male lead would probably not have performed better than the female lead 1v1 against the enemy at full health. It would require both of them to fight this enemy regardless of whether it was before or after the male lead finished absorbing the medicine/elixir. And this sort of situation isn't frequent in the story either, throughout the story the two take turns supporting each other and playing out there roles when they encounter desperate situations

[collapse]

As the story progresses the two alternate saving each other from crises, working together to win tough battles, and working with other more powerful characters to save the world. The story really starts to shine the further you read. There are repetitive themes, which might be annoying for some people, but the story really shines with it's world building and unique approach in starring two equally contributing leads. <<less

ALL HYPE!

A generic patchwork of used tropes and old cliches. There is a good reason, it turns out, as to why the novels setting is set on a game world -- the author has little to no incling as to how real interactions and even characterization work. But even that could have been forgiven if the story drew you in, but alas it does not, because there isn’t one.

I'm sure that the translators cackled as they counted all their adsense money, yet again proving that one can't go broke underestimating... more>> the taste of the public. <<less

It's a fun read with two interesting isekaied main characters, however the male MC is slowly starting to become a domineering deus ex machina kinda character, with inexplicable (up to this point) set of skills that is able to solve everything from simple meals to world domination. This has led to the story becoming quite unbalanced as the female MC is basically a minion at this point, which is especially disturbing that she's an emotionally immature teen with massive crush while the guy is shown time and time again to... more>> be an expert emotional manipulator, practically giving the vibe of a mature man grooming a teen, which is unfortunately way too common with these Asian webnovels.

Writing also seems to suffer lately with fillers in which the MCs spends paragraph after paragraph telepathically bantering with each other thing about inane stuff and building up s*xual tension that goes nowhere, which the side characters rightly perceive as them eyef*cking each other. Yeah side characters, it's uncomfortable for us too.....

Starta out as a solid 4.5/5, is slowly and surely falling to a 3/5, I don't see myself keeping up with this series if the negative aspects continues further. <<less

It's not bad but honestly it is boring. The premise is interesting but after 33 chapters I find nothing particularly interesting about this novel. The world is a generic fantasy world, the main characters are ok but the side characters are non-existent. There is no human conflict, the main characters follow the story and power up but there is nothing besides that. Everything goes their way and the characters around them treat them relatively well. It's just bland, boring and honestly offers very little thrill.

  1. My favorite web novel ever, I know no story is for everyone but saying there's sexism is just crazy. The FL is never on a lower level it's made a point that he doesn't catch up to her pure fighting abilities till halfway through the story. There's even the running joke is about how the ML body is constantly fighting from behind and being princess carried by the FL. Even with all the training, and rewards, and power-ups the ML gets she's almost always the one figuring things out on pure instinct while he's trying to figure things out logically. (She gets her share of reward too which is another falsehood. The gifts from the FL's father to the ML is because he's weaker than her physically. Some are also "bedtime performance enhancers" since their engaged and he wants grandchildren)
  2. The relationship between the two is one of my favorites because of how natural they come together. Being the #1 and #2 of the game they know the mechanics and lore very well as well as each ither fightings styles and tendencies. At first their coordination takes time and is mainly controlled by the ML but the more fights and time go by they begin to communicate without words even understand what the other will do during fights even while seperated. It goes so far they have an entire conversation with their eyes for so long they question if they actually understand what each other is thinking after such a long back and forth while the others in the room just assume they're using some form of telepathy. It's a small thing but I think it's very important in making their relationship feel more natural, it does admittedly take a rather long time before they finally actually confess to one other but I didn't mind it mainly because I binged the entire series in about 2-3 weeks 😅
  3. I cannot stress enough how refreshing it is to have the ML and FL fighting side by side and getting stronger together. And since they both have prior knowledge it doesn't feel like the relationship is superficial or the other is being used which is one of the major downsides of the reincarnation/reborn/transmigration genre is general. So many times the supporting characters feel unnecessary and it's a one man/women show despite have really cool supporting cast around them. These two fight together, and they'll die together if need be *wink wink*.
  4. The battles feel well earned and the rewards deserved, of course it's still mainly a fighting so some things are just pure luck that make you go "how the hell?" But for the most part nothing feels cheap, and even the few last minute saves the happens to the various characters are set up well beforehand so they don't feel like the author just came up with some BS out of his ass.
  5. Overall it's a refreshing take on the same story beats we've seen time and time again from the reborn/regression/ reincarnation genre. Simply having 2 characters with the future knowledge instead of just 1 changes everything, with their strengths split between the two Cordelia being the brawn, jude being the brains it avoids the MC feeling like an unbeatable god that can never feel and by making them love interest their is an actual romance that is developed instead of two characters that like each other who might get together the last chapter of the story with no development.
  6. It's been months since I've read this and I'm still looking for something with this dynamic where two MC's get stronger together throughout the story and the closest thing I found was vermilion but I just couldn't get into it. Please if anyone knows a novel/manga/book it doesn't matter similar please let me know 😭😭

I really like this story. Even though the plot is straightforward it delivers what it sets out to do and doesn't drag things out too much.

I love the banter between the two main characters. It's hilarious and fun.
Also this is one of the rare 'protagonist falls in love first' novels and I like that.

I've also read the manhwa version and seeing the action in drawing is cool and adds more enjoyment after reading.
