One system connects two worlds. Wu Ye, a timid and unambitious rich second-generation, was suddenly thrown into an apocalyptic world of zombies, equipped with a strong golden finger. To flee, or not to flee?

Qin Wuhua, a cold-faced special forces soldier, with his comrades betrayed by his superiors, showed him one night of “good will.”

To eat, eat, or eat? (Ye: What about the other options we talked about?! Qin: Be good. Ye: …..)

the world hopping between 2-worlds is new to me. However, only the first 40 chapters and last chapter are interesting. The succeeding ch's are okay but somewhat predictable; so fr my standpoint, it went downhill. I love Chinese web novels, however I feel disappointed when some authors add the current political (reality) war bet China and other nations to their novels. ... more>>
Spoiler

Chinese often write that they r oppressed by other nation yet they could not even see how they oppress other Asian countries. Also all people know that most westerns look at easterns differently, not only Chinese nations.

Anyway, Won't discourage u to read since, overall, it's good.

MC is the usual 2nd gen wealthy young master but in times of crisis he is level headed. U could say that MC is kind but he's like a child trying to act as hero. He should have think of a way for those person with loyalty mark. What if...
Spoiler

What if those marked people are or their family is tortured to death.. ? so those people with loyalty mark will either die fr loyalty (for not betraying) or die fr the enemy. also the MC founded the contract of beast, although, it helped to alleviate the pain of beast but he didn't even think d greediness of humans. However, in the succeeding chapters, the author didn't write that since he made d villain s*upid

[collapse]

I'm also disappointed with the love story development of MC and ML. At first, the MC kept saying that "he's straight" then, all of a sudden the ML confessed (confessed during the time MC returned to his world). And when the MC went back to zombie world, the system suddenly gifted a lubricant and they DID it at night (and the reason they did it was bcoz it was a waste not to use the lube, f*** really annoying, he could have sold it instead). Also it irritates me is that the MC acted "hard to get". And ML did the MC without getting a confirmation fr MC (that MC likes the ml). they are like rabbits in heat. Also, most of MC and ML interaction is "DOING IT". the ML is the typical ML from any danmei novel. <<less

instead of transferring to another world he is able to hop back and forth as long as he has enough energy/points to do so. This is the first system story that I've read where that happens (usually the MC either spends the entire novel looking for a way to go home, or he builds and empire and makes himself king/emperor etc.) so I'm excited to read further. The translations so far a pretty good and the story is interesting.

First of all, damn, just wow. *screams in madness* my gosh! The ending! The last chapter in the extras is = mind blown.

Major spoiler below:

Spoiler

The MC finally brought the ML to his world and the ML met the MC's family. The fricking plot twist was that 'all was finally well but in an unknown place, a huge black meteorite was heading towards the planet.'

Hello! People this is what happened to the ML's world! It's the sign of the apocalpyse happening on the MC's world. *screams in madness*

The novel extras ends here.

The good thing is that at this point, both the MC and the ML are so OP now (since they both spent years levelling up in the ML's world. So, I think that even though an Apocalypse might happen to the MC's world... It's alright since the MC has already built a safe haven back on the ML's world. = He already has enough experience to handle the upcoming events.

But still!! With the talk of the system's 'higher level worlds' etc. I'd like to believe that every parallel world is going to experience the Apocalpyse and go through changes = slowly evolving into higher worlds where there's Humanity vs. Zergs

[collapse]

I really liked the way the author blended the worlds of both the MC and the ML. I also liked the different approach to the apocalypse.

The MC was the typical rich young master. He's the second son so he just liked to spend his time in a lazy manner, just spoiling himself and not wanting to be involved in the family business. He's straight (at first, lol.) and he's chasing a woman but then it all changed when he got involved in a car accident.

The MC woke up and found himself in the world of the ML. Filled with zombies.

The ML saved him and thus begins their journey of growth.

The MC once he has enough points, goes to back to his world and back again to the ML's world. Shuffling between both worlds and doing his best to help the people of the ML's world.

At first it was just the typical Zombies with abilities vs. Humans with abilities.

But with the passage of time, it was revealed that Bugs also became parasitic (both to humans and zombies)

And the system of the MC revealed that at the higher worlds, the Bugs have wisdom *The Zegs people. It's the Zergs* (I'm shocked and amazed at the blending of the plot.)

I also like the way the MC turned out. He slowly grew along with the ML. The MC is kind to those who are kind to him and bad at those who are bad to him.

He is protective to the peoole close to him and I like that he hasn't lost his humanity. The ML is very caring and considerate to the MC.

There's also character depth and you'll remember the people that was mentioned in the novel. (like the MC's loyal people, etc.)

Now let's discuss the system.

I like how this system was "I can give you something but you have to exchange it with points." The MC has to work and kill the zombies for their crystal nucleus and pay for the cheats of the system.

The system will also make you want to vomit due to the expensive prices in exchange for the materials. (The MC often curses the system. Lol. But it's nice. They have a cute relationship. Whenever the MC praises the system; the system feels that it's core chip is getting hot amd thinks that it's a virus. Lol.)

Mini spoiler: The MC does not have space power like most of all the MC's in the Apocalypse genre (but he does get a space ring for reward) His power is water with healing properties.

The MC's family was also well rounded. I just had to laugh at his younger brother's love interest. LOL, really.

I really, really liked this novel.

Thank you for picking this up and translating it and thank you to the author.

I finished reading this in just four days. *laughs*

Perhaps my only question would be: 'where does the system store all of the materials in the system 'store'...... Does the system have some type of warehouse in the high level world and teleports the materials to the MC that's why there's points required?

To those who are interested in reading this novel. Please, please go ahead.

It's really nice. ?✨ <<less

This is a very good story with MC mainly staying at the zombie world and interaction between him and ML is good. The author other works are also good but have to say this one is the best of them. Pretty interested where found the image as I remember the cover being a sword in the ground with a blue background.

There is another story very similar but the MC is cooler its called "End of the world trade male God"

Love it. It was fun.

It didn't help me with my studies but it was really great.

These are actual legit spoilers

Spoiler

GODDAMN THE ENDING

basically history repeats itself but its the as*hole kind.

The super ending was that... the meteor that probably caused the zombie outbreak is coming to the 'normal' world.

Good thing MC already built and bought an island of his own. He still has to defend against fish zombies though.

A very good story of MC who could hop between his world and ML's apocalypse world. This is one of the zombie novels that can balance every aspect beautifully.

What I like about this novel are:-

Spoiler
  1. MC didn't have space ability, which a lot of other zombie novel's MC had. (Even though he had a space ring). No safe land to grow fruit, no spiritual water pool that makes him advance quickly. System's cheat needed to pay a price.
  2. MC was cute and ML spoiled him to death. The relationship between MC and the system was funny.
  3. MC's rabbit and ML' wolf were super-duper cute.
  4. The most important thing that drove me to write the review was I LOVE the ending so much.

(UPDATE: 11/29/2022) I reread but didn't end up finishing. Last time I only made it up to c123, now it's 182 lolol. I now see what the issue with the novel is that I didn't notice before O.O It involves wayyyyy too much telling vs showing. Most of the chapters is like reading a report rather than reading a novel, which makes it really boring. The pacing was better in the beginning, but once you get past the close character development and such, the pacing goes super speed and... more>> almost never slows down again T.T Still! I did like this novel quite a bit regardless, since it's an infrastructure or "kingdom"-building novel. The main focus of most of the story is the MC creating a place for himself in both worlds, which takes lots of work and lots of money he he. If you're into that, then this is not a bad read! Might be best to wait for the TL tho. The MTL for this is pretty bad. Even when I plugged the raw into Google translate, the result wasn't all that good (75-80% readable).

As for my rating, previously it was ambiguously between 4-4.49/5 stars. Now I can say with confidence that it's probably more like 3.9 stars out of five. Still worth the 4 stars I gave it last time, but my opinion went down juuuust a bit because of the pacing issue in later chapters.

OLD REVIEW: AHHH!!! This has got to be one of my favorite SYSTEM/Apocalypse novels to date T.T It's really too bad that the translation progress is slow (the MTL is really really hard to read Ah T.T.)

CHARACTERS:

    1. Wu Ye - MC: The MC in this story is called Wu Ye. He's the strong, bratty type. With soft looks but a big personality (think of a chihuahua lolol). He was born as the second young master of a well-to-do family. And, after an accident that should have led to his death, he ends up waking up in another world (one overrun by Zombies) with a SYSTEM in his head.
    1. Qin Wuhao - ML: Our MC, Wu Ye, meets Qin Wuhao almost immediately after ending up in the new world. Qin Wuhao saves him and so, he saves him in turn! Qin Wuhao is stoic and upright, he starts developing softer feelings for his savior after their first meeting, and remains steadfast thereafter.
The novel is rich with lots of great side characters (of both the human and beast variety). The cast can be a bit overwhelming because two worlds are involved. But it's hard to confuse them with how the author has written things

SETTING:

The thing that made me hesitate when I was first considering to read this is the setting. I've been reading Zombie Apocalypse novels exclusively lately, and I thought that the two world aspect of this novel would not be interesting or explored in detail. I ended up being wrong on both accounts! The MC's home world is your average modern world. This definitely plus a role in it. But the main focus is the Zombie Apocalypse world!

PLOT:

After ending up in another world with a SYSTEM, the MC has no intention of staying. Why would he when travel back to his world was possible??? MC gets suckered in eventually though. The SYSTEM has many benefits that can help him survive in the zombie apocalypse as well as ensure that his family in his home world will be safe and happy (MC's younger brother was sick in the beginning and the family lost their wealth after his 'death'

giving MC something to work towards in both worlds.)

I like the SYSTEM dynamics in this one. It has a significant effect to the plot and it's consistent as well! The worldbuilding for this universe is wonderfully extensive as well. It's the Survival/Get-Rich self indulgent kind of vibe that I really really like.

RATING:

My official rating for this is 4-4.5! It's hard to say how much I'll like it in the end JDKSOS I'll have to wait for the translation a bit more to be sure. But I definitely enjoyed it more than most stories, and I'm looking forward to eventually read it in full. <<less

It started good, but then here I just start to get bored. I like Zombie Apocalypse, but I don't like Zombie apocalypes that hardly have fight with zombie, and all their fight is with other human.

So, when this Ignore the fight with zombies and have fight with the base people, it lost me. Their fight with zombeis has become just a few words like "they (MC and ML) get outside the base to hunt zombie at the morning and came back at noon." Just this, nothing more!

this novel is about a laidback 2nd gen young master who spends his time reading novels and chasing after his goddess lianyu. Who suddenly gets transported into a zombie apocalyptic world after a failed? Attempt at mu*der.

. It would've been nice if the system had more dialogue and structure about how it works etc cuz sometimes I wonder if he got the points for completing x mission. Prob would've gave it 4 stars if the story was more detailed and descriptive and the characters were more developed.

anyways I liked how the mc's power isn't super OP (like a space or farm abiliy) even tho he has a cheat system lol <<less

First comment after reading the chap 2

The MC is dumb af like seriously dumb

Hes receiving warning of danger... warning over warning

... more>> His first instinct is not to runaway but to find where does the voice comes from, whether he's transmigrated or not

seriously dumb af

The first thought I had was well just die buddy... who would have time to care of a s*upid negative iq person like you

Chap ex

He finally developed some IQ

But hey he's still faraway having a normal one

The dude finally knows that someone is trying to kill him... in his original world yet, he is so eager to go back... if not s*upidity I don't know what

Here though it's difficult... he has people to protect him he could be a forever waste dead fish... he got a backer

But wanting to go back to death... is seriously s*upid

Xxx chapter thing moved... he was no longer s*upid negative iq young man but a man with responsibility

However more than what happened in the apocalypse world I was more interested in what happened to his own world... revenge always intrigued me

Now I do want to know if there's another apocalypse in his own world

The end is a total season 2 in waiting

However no matter what about my rant it was a nice read <<less

Loved the story. Very nice translation by translator too.

Its not 100% OP of MC. Even when he had the golden finger of system, the is the price to pay. I liked the idea of equivalent transaction (Similar to Metal Alchemist) The energy must come from somewhere.

There is no overcontrol ML. He really started from caring a younger brother and feelings builds up later.

The only thing I hated is the last line in the book. Would have deducted 5 star for it. So if you prefer a fully closed ending in... more>> a novel... Warning DO NOT READ THE LAST LINE. It made a good story left unattended. <<less

I can't give this more than 3 stars even though I did eventually enjoy the main meat of the story. Actually this story has a lot of technological advancement and 'days after the zombie apocalypse' development (they rule a city, they're very good and even the zombie tides feels easy pickings so it's very smooth sailing). In a span of 5 years, they really did grow at a rapid rate, it's very enjoyable to read and see how different it is from year to year. Although the pacing is relatively... more>> fast (spring to summer to winter) -- there's alot of plot and things happening, so it's like reading a business-growing novel.

The beginning of the novel (up to below ch100) really isn't to my taste, I honestly stuck around because the premise (going back and forth between worlds to do business/find opportunities) seems interesting.A spoiler warning but the majority of what takes place is in the zombie apocalypse world, so don't expect much from the original time-line (even though it's kind of fun too).

But yeah the MC really threw me off. At the beginning of the novel up until I started reading the raws, ch50 forward thank god there's alot more talk about city building etc. And we don't have to listen to the MC's perspective that much. There's nothing about him that makes me want to like. To me he's a very unlikeable character - until he eventually shut up and we get good non-MC focused progression for the rest of the novel (150-60 chapters). Even when he did make a small comeback, I'm just like ugh. I also don't find him to have any charming qualities I'd feel endeared to while I was reading up to the translated parts. I know you're supposed to think he's bratty and spoilt and find that fun or something (reversal charm), but I did not get that AT ALL until I read the raws. To be honest, I recommend reading the raws because I could not stand him until I understood where his charm was in like, that context.

Not just him - but his family members as well. I can't quite put a pin to it but something about their characterization is so off-putting. It feels like chewing cardboard, I couldn't go a paragraph without rolling my eyes and gagging at some of the dialogues/reactions. Usually I can point out whether it's something specific but I -- don't really know with this novel. It's... very immature-ish, chuu-ni almost but not the cute kind. This one... Some of the prose are pretty funny, like not in the its actually funny way but more like it's very... one-note. very shallow. I find it weird but its fine. I honestly had a lot worse opinion of this novel before I read the raws and then I was like oh I KINDA get it now. It's still not great? But it's not as bad as before.

MCs beast companion is a bunny rabbit that is timid and lazy and is only good at selling meng. And there are so many comments about how similar the MC is to the bunny. Except the entire point of the book is watching the MC grow so having him be compared to how he was in the beginning makes me wonder why the book isn’t acknowledging any of his actual growth. It's a pretty cute story. The couple is cute. I like that the MC goes back and forth between worlds, however the author kind of puts a conservative Chinese skew on the entire thing like someone who misses the mao days. You end up roaming through an old-school communist power fantasy. He takes Chinese people who were originally democratic and makes them dictatorial. His ability to squash down dissenters and industry competition through hero worship and fear of outside threats is seen as a good thing. He also just gives... more>> the military control over the economy and resources and also ens*aves the strongest of them in what is assumed to be a super healthy way. Our MC is lazy and has rich parents. He puts power into the hands of the most incompetent people with the least time on their hands

I can forgive all of that, but the MC then uses his cheat to come back to the real world and make China an undisputed global superpower through hacking national secrets because, apparently, he can't just be rich without being powerful or his family will get into hurt.

The MC is an interesting creature, though he may occasionally sound like an immature brat, his actions are all rational and he's one sly boy. The authority creates a perfectly matched ML for our MC, although I wish there was more scene/development between them.

Plotwise, this novel is awesome. There are less or more drama, depending on how your perspectives are, but for me they are just nice. Some part of this novel really pictures the devastating atmosphere of a catastrophe, the helplessness and the struggle of mortal. At some part, it is a bit fast paced that I wish the author wrote them in detail, but overall this is a good read. <<less

lmaooo I thought it's just beginning but it ended while I am thirsting for more 😭😭 the climax (Which I consider to be) is shown just the opening and it ended before announcing something like a sequel 😭😭 "Xinhua Kingdom" just reading that makes me want to kidnap (well adultnap) the Author to continue this. Anyways, it is super realistic well in case of interaction not the magic and stuff. I think the unexpected Nationalism shown are just for publicity since when a novel are becoming famous, and propaganda is... more>> not shown in the novel, they would contact the author to either do this or delete your novel which is sad because I can see the forced adding of the Nationalism, when before the author used City z Country Z, Continent Z so on and so on, it was replaced with real names of places which is Sad but anyways the author survived when most novel failed after adding natuonalism. Pls don't give this up, turn off your logic and rationality and enjoy the reading if you don't you will rrad this while thinking "this is ridiculous" lmao <<less

This is a pretty good story. The plot is built up very well, especially considering the premise. Most stories with protagonists that can travel between worlds at-will tend to not be very good. The author's of such stories give the MC unrealistic fluctuations in wealth and power due to discrepancies between the worlds. This story still had the OP aspects of the golden finger, but the author also gave the protagonist enough hurdles to counterbalance this and keep the plot interesting.

The personality of the main couple is not outstanding, but... more>> they don't need to be. A pampering loyal dog gong with a mischievous youthful shou is a standard formula that can withstand scrutiny. The story still delves further into their relationship (beyond the river crabs) by exploring the complex relationship caused by the difference in planes of existence. The shou has his family on one side and his lover on the other. The gong has the moral quandary of being 'selfish' enough to cultivate a relationship with the shou rather than sending him back to his home plane for good.

The antagonists in the 'real world' fight mostly in the commercial battlefield. I pretty much guessed the plot when the author stated that (he) had reasons for (his) behaviour on the initial villain reveal chapter. The development is surprisingly sympathetic despite this and quite a few things still managed to surprise me.

Spoiler

The eldest brother has a three major secrets starting from the day of his biological mother's death, each more shocking than the other. The first I guessed very early on, but the other two surprised me.

  1. That day was the death of both his biological parents; his mother cheated and he was a bastard child.
  2. Not only did he witness his parents die in front of him when he was only 5 y/o, he was a direct cause of their death when he overturned a candle during his shock after finding out the truth.
  3. He not only became estranged from the Wu family due to his uncles instigation, he also poisoned Wu Li in the womb when he was only 8 y/o.

I had suspected that Wu Sen was not the biological child (correct) and that the Wang family had killed his mother and told the traumatised child that she was killed by his father (wrong). I was completely shocked by the additional poisoning plot.

The guilt from these actions he took at a young age, the repressed desire to be the Wu family's real child, and further brainwashing by his uncle's twisted him into something even he didn't recognise.

I found his ending really sad. Everyone in the family understood his final struggles, but he had completely given up any chance of forgiveness when he arranged the car accident. He was well aware that his brother wasn't trying to compete with him at all. He just couldn't give up the paranoia tied to his empty dream. He was self-destructing before the story even started. It's just a pity that the Wu family's intervention after the initial incident (psychological counselling) just wasn't effective enough and that

Wu Sen didn't open up to the ones that obviously cared about him. In fact, their altruistic concern seemed to twist the knife even deeper since he believed their love was contingent on a blood relationship.

[collapse]

The apocalyptic villains pale in comparison, although they manage to cause the main characters quite a bit of trouble. Unfortunately, one of the ML's secrets seems to die with them. The author kept one of the evil side kicks alive for the reveal, and then forgot about them! Or I skimmed past it on accident haha.

The author did note that the secret was related to the ML's parents. I suspect that the ML was unknowingly a real member of the Li family.

As for the ending

OMG the last two sentences in the final extra are so

haha! Read the last extra or the following spoiler at your own risk! The author is such a troll

now I need a sequel! >_<

Spoiler

Last extra summary: Vice-Boss Qin finally gets to meet his in-laws, only for this Earth to also usher in an apocalypse. (Implied outcome; Author leaves it unknown if it is a zombie apocalypse, zerg, some free minerals with low risk, or a complete wipe-out. It's even unknown if the MCs will survive the event.) One second everyone is smiling for the happy ending and then the troll author adds in the final twist:

"It feels good to be reunited as a family, and I*

hope the warmth and happiness of this moment can stay in my heart forever.

In the dark and distant universe, a huge black meteorite flew straight to the earth..."

The END

Tbh, I can get over the straight shou (in this story it was more of a tsundere scenario). However, the racism was quite blatant and M country (aka America) shutting down the internet for any reason, let alone to control gossip, seemed quite out of place. The parallel world started with China as the prominent power, although with no Pinyin, which was actually kind of interesting. The MC makes sure that China is also emerging as the major power (even risking war during one scene where multiple countries put their larger munitions on standby) in his original world as well by the end of the story.

I won't even get into descriptions of the stereotypical behaviour of the 'yellow haired' Europeans and the eventual justified exploitation of their remaining population. I do appreciate that the author didn't shy away from acknowledging the MCs' less beautiful behaviours including a section where it's shown that future generations consider him to be quite controversial due to said exploitation. In conclusion, the MC had more than enough logical reason for his behaviour to make sense in the context of the story. It's just unfortunate that the author is slightly xenophobic and patriotic and set up the story with some, perhaps unintentional, biases. It may have also been intentional in a way considering how mild it was compared to some other stories. The author can simultaneously have a character that is realistically from China (by including this 'flaw') while also making said character sympathetic to current civilians and conforming to the ideals (other than BL) of the river crabs.
