One of my favourite series of all time! The characters are more than likeable (or sometimes detestable), the protagonist is unstoppable and it brings me great pleasure when he is being imperious, coy, showing off his superior knowledge or kicking ass from here to kingdom come. The story itself, though sometimes confusing when the protagonist reminisces about things unknown to the reader, is riveting and has me clicking refresh (F5) everyday for updates. If I had a complaint, it'd be that though the story progresses fluidly and gives appropriate time... more>> to each arc, the choice of not revealing some information that seems crucial to the events in each corresponding arc does have me frustrated sometimes. Other than that, splendid series, can't wait for future chapters! <<less

This novel can get really icky at times forced and repetitive, for example Li is walking with a beauty, some scumbag with a powerful backing tries to _____ her and gets the living daylights beat out of him, then the powerful sect or whatever behind him goes to Li and wants to destroy him, and get absolutly thrashed, then it repeats over and over a. Gain every two chapters for a treasure or some crap like that, and guess what? Then antagonists never bloody learn!!!! They then proceed to try... more>> to kill the protagonist again and again, till they finally die and no one really cares and more random flies come biting again!!!!!!!

okay, that's enough of my ranting, if you can tolerate those bits then this novel is great and I highly reccomend this novel everyone.

-Promotion time-

READ ST, CD AND ISSTH, it's good stuff

ps, try dimensional sovereign, it's good <<less

Extremely redundant, riddled with unnecessary details and opinions, chauvinistic towards women, 1 sided characters, wanton violence and one of the most funniest exaggerated fight scenes I have ever read (many of the author's descriptions are EXACTLY like Pokemon's team rocket getting launched until they turn into stars.... really! Hilarious!).

I'm giving this 4 stars since a few tid bits were written so poignantly to me that in made me really want to know more of his past relationships and that keeps me reading. Don't forget to skip chapters.... or else you... more>> will get a headache from the redundant explanations and characters.

I skip every 1 or 2 chapters since most of what is written by the author is just garble BUT I still continue to read even through all the redundancies....

Let me explain why I mention redundant.....

Keep in mind that even though I mention redundancies it really is redundant.....

and so on...

and so on...

I read this story as if it is a slap stick comedy. It is actually really funny - like a 5 year old pretending to be a super hero and beating up a pillow. <<less

I became speechless after I read beddedOtaku's review on ED. So I gave it a try. However I'm now baffled by the author's skill at writing things that are of no importance to the story.

Your patience with ED really leaves me dumbfounded, if I didn't skip most part of this story I might have been drown by the author's ability at describing "this" or "that", you have earned my respect brother.

the story is actually pretty nice if you read it following bro beddedOtaku's advice.

I will read this while waiting for... more>> the chapters on other novels I am following.

Same here, reading it as guilty pleasure. 3/5

Update c609 :

Hello guys. I have reached the medicine world, unfortunately I think I will pause there and come back after there are more chapters to skip.

Tips if you're reading ED, just read when the characters talk, they just re describe what you have probably read prior and how amazing it is, if you get confused just read the paragraph before they talked. <<less

This novel requires you to change your way of thinking a bit when it comes to Wuxia\Xianxia.

The reason for this is quite simply that the MC is (so far) crazy OP.

Sure he has his start with weak to strong cultivation wise, but his..."tricks", knowledge, items, and ways of dealing with situations makes most (not all) dangerous situations be more interesting then feeling dangerous.

... more>> Now you might think bleh, that sounds boring. And for some it might be.

The real fun for me at least, is seeing the way his poor enemies, AKA meatpastes, will be handled. And that is what still keeps it fresh for me, as the story progresses he always find more interesting ways of making meatpaste :D

We've all read the standard "see a budda kill a budda, see a demon kill a demon" line, but in all the Wuxia\Xianxia I've read so far, this novel takes the gold standard of that saying.

Story wise it stars off slow, but has a decent flow in my eyes, and there's always progression, both in power, storyline and physical locations.

And what I like the most is that the MC really knows what he's doing, and just as important where he's going. He controls the story/where he's going and it's rare to see external factors being able to change that.

Combat can feel a bit simple at times, but that's only because it lacks some complexity in the descriptions.

It's hard to explain. It's more like it's painting a nice picture\combat story, instead of oh he used power x, which clearly is more powerful then power y, because z. Not that you won't understand why he won a fight, heh, because that's clear enough. <<less

Idk why there's many hate review for this. This is basically a novel where MC curbstomping the others like nearly every other novel on overpowered MC genre. So I'll talk about anything else then.

First one I noticed is this novel world building is superb. Not only one but probably 9 others world will be explained. The significant and insignificant sect are explained with their background, although the villain is the usual 2 bit mob in every world (they're gonna die anyway).

Well, as there's less or even no characters development on... more>> MC (looking at his background it's normal though having no character development just in a mere years compared to countless years as the Crow. Pretty much he's an old geezer and hard to change). It'll be weird though if he suddenly become docile after all of his rampage.

The author probably build the plot little by little between the arc towards the grand act later which's why it's looks like no plot at all. Even though it's using the same formula.

Last one is I love the tension before the fight, like this guy will win anyway, this ain't shounen but how creative the author will be creating the curbstomping. And from what I have read, the author's quite briliant as well. <<less

I like this novel. In fact, I love it. Not because of amazing character develop, interesting world, fresh take on the genre, or 3-Dimensional villains. No, I love it because it's incredibly entertaining. The way the MC slaps people faces, is so domineering and arrogant that it never ceases to amaze me. The way that he dominates everything with such ease is always fun to read. I do acknowledge that the novel is repetitive and drags on too much, but I don't really care. In short this isn't a good... more>> review, it's more like me fanboying on one of my favorite novels. <<less

Actual rating is currently 3.5 stars

This is an interesting novel to rate, because I think a lot of my enjoyment of the novel depends on how the plot progresses in the next 100 chapters or so. I think the minor plots are getting repetitive at this point, and what will keep me engaged is how the major plot goes. Almost 400 chapters in, and we have yet to meet a major antagonist. The author has been laying a lot of groundwork, but if there isn't a major payoff or change... more>> of pace soon, I would put that as a mark against the author's pacing.

The novel features the usual trope of an OP MC who has to cultivate to reach the pinnacle of the world. The wrinkle is that the MC has been part of almost all the major events of almost all recorded history with a gap right before the present. Honestly it seems like the day-to-day dealings of the MC are meant to draw the story out rather than add something to it because they all have the same pattern to them. I think the other big flaw in the novel is how messed up and confusing all the cultivation system is. There are multiple titles for each stage, and it isn't helped that nothing is a threat to the MC so there isn't a sense of scale either. Honestly, the illuminati feel to the story is a draw, and the story does a good job of setting up towards future foreshadowing, but when all the parts I liked happened in the past, I think there is a problem. Overall, you better like the plot, because I don't there will be any development of the MC (and the side characters are starting to blend together) and the dialogue mainly shows how creative the author is at thinking of ways to brag. <<less

One of the better stories for sure (as noted by the rating vs others), but still has the usual problems. Too much exposition (Author's gotta eat, so I understand why.. they have to hit their daily word count), but more original stuff would be good. Waaaay too many times describing the hotness of the two chicks though.. we get it.. they're heaven defyingly hot.. don't remind us every single time they're mentioned...

*Update*
I first wrote this at chapter 204 and I mentioned filler. Now, at chapter 338, it has become... more>> such a big problem I have downgraded it to 3 stars. It's unbelievable how many times he repeats the history of a minor character every time they're mentioned, or write so much BS that supposedly is profound, but says nothing at all. This story was fun because he is one of the most dominating MCs, but now it's just hoping something happens in a chapter. <<less

Have read all the translated chapters so far (ch 164) and it is one of my must read novels. There are familiar tropes here with arrogant op MC and people telling him he is tr*sh as well as ridiculous numbers. Thankfully, so far, the numbers have not gone to IET's level (author of Desolate Era etc.). As for the arrogance, unlike a lot of other novels, this MC has a right to it as he is literally 1 million years old and has accumulated a lot of knowledge which he... more>> uses to dominate his enemies (hence the title). He is powerful but he makes plans, using his knowledge of the various secrets to destroy his enemies. This is arrogance done right, unlike PMG (Peerless Martial God) where I just wanted to beat the MC up for being a hypocrite.

What makes this novel a fresh breath to me is the world building. The cultivation is different and there are a lot of hints about fanciful places and races. Even though not much has been told about them they are around, making this world not just another human dominated world. The latest chapters are in a burial ground with incredibly powerful undead and the descriptions are so much more fantastic then the general D&D novel of skeletons, zombies, mummies and vampires.

So are there anything bad with this novel? Some reviewers said it is the same trope over and over and others complain about characters getting ditched. So far, the translation has not reach that yet so I can not say. The only slightly negative thing I can say is that he can go into detail on some things like the cultivation that can be a bit much. But otherwise it is an extremely exciting and fantastical read that I highly recommend.
Also, the translator does a good job and has decent release schedule. I am very picky with grammar, spelling etc but can only remember maybe 5 instances in all 164 chapters. So please give this novel a try as it is one of the better ones out there. <<less

Very interesting. It takes a while to get going, but once it does it really skyrockets. It is similar in vein to other stories where a superpowered being 'fell from grace' and had to start over again, retaining memories and skills but lack the raw power to use them, like Transcending the Nine Heavens and Sovereign of the Three Realms.

The MC is supremely confident to the point of contemptuous of everyone else. It's like an old master returning to his genre to see it populated by loud-mouthed and overbearing people,... more>> and he had to discipline them just like how he had disciplined their ancient founders long, long ago.

We will have to wait for more chapters to see the story's direction and whether it falls into the same tropes as other stories. The blazing fast translation is a major plus. <<less

The writer style like to jump around and the reader would have to fill in the blanks by themselves. However I find the story pretty interesting.

This story is about a 13 year boy sherpard looking for a lost lamb where he unfortunately gotten himself used as a tool to search for treasure as a crow.

He regained his freedom and his 13 years old body back. And here is where the story started. <<less

Honestly it's a decent read my biggest gripe with it is probably the beginning since the whole setting is that the MC was just a shepherd who walkef into the "evil cave" and then his soul was stripped from his body and forced to become a crow that was sent out on a mission to gather knowledge from the cultivation world.

This would be done in cycles of millions upon millions of years but even from the first cycle he sealed his memories so that they would get nothing but for... more>> no reason the cave just kept sending him out without him doing his mission but they never punished him or anything. The author got a lot of complaints about this plot hole so eventually it was explained.

Spoiler

That the person in charge of the evil cave who turned MC into a crow had a beef with the real owners of the evil cave so he just ignored it and never sent any info to the ppl above. Which again just became another plot hole as to why the owners would let that guy not care as to why he wasn't doing his job.

[collapse]

Also the MC is all about being the strongest and slapping ppl it doesn't matter that he has no cultivation talent since his knowledge alone let's him turn himself or anyone else into an invincible being.

Lastly because the author wants to keep the story readable for all ages pretty much in CN there is no s*xual content however the MC pretty much "rapes" or well pushes down every beauty he meets after which they all become docile sheep that follows him around. It' all done on the downlow with the women doing a 180 on their attitude all of a sudden after the MC brought them to his room or a part just ends with them being together after which she's "mysteriously" changed into the MC's follower.

The author often explains this in comments outside of the actual story by telling the readers stuff like what do yoy think happens when a man and a woman are alone together *wink wink*. Or what do you think has happened to turn a woman into an obidient little wife?

So it's a bit of a shame in my opinion that while I don't crave R-18 content it just becomes weird how because of censorship in CN yoy pretty much need to read the authors comments to some parts to even understand what happened though it is possible to guess and once you know it's easy to understand when the MC has "conquered" a woman. <<less

I didn't get very far in thus novel, and it wasn't because of the dense writing. It was the unlikability of the characters and I mean every one that was added in the first 30 or so chapters. Some people will say "oh you gotta give a cn novel 100 chapters to get good" sitting things like TLOM but we all know that it is just idiots coping. TLOM was good from chapter 10-15 and continued that way till the end while this fails to grip you with any character... more>> or plot development. I don't truly remember when I stopped so consider my status as "somewhere around". And basically everything had been said. I will add one thing that bugged me while I was reading this novel. The novel's world is supposed to be enormous. Eons of years, tons of civilizations, universes after universes, but it's basically one big xianxia style China. It could be ancient tribe whith dog heads and dragon tails, but everyone would have Chinese names, xianxia social structure, xianxia values, Chinese traditional dresses etcetera. tr*sh through and through. Nobody is likable, nobody is relatable. He's a chad that just bangs all the girls just because he could and doesn't even consider whether he should or shouldn't. It's like he doesn't know how to control his lower half; and doesn't hold any sort of responsibility towards them.

This is a fun story, but it does get repetitive. It's not a masterpiece by any means, but is definitely head and shoulders above most of the tr*sh novels that make up the Xianxia market.

The premise is very interesting, and pretty much unique. The author does an excellent job at creating a history for the world, and as you read through, you can slowly puzzle out what happened in the last million years.

There are definitely better novels out there, but this one will keep you entertained for a long time,... more>> and it's not a slog even at the 1500 chapter mark. <<less

Pretty much your typical Chinese martial arts novel... It's pretty much the MC being able to do anything because he is the crow from the past, they so far haven't even gotten into his past much at all other than the fact that he raised countless immortal emperors...

While there are a lot of things I can complain about the thing that pisses me off the most is f*cking Nan Huairen. I have no idea why this guy is even a part of the story other than to annoy readers... He's... more>> just a parasite that at every single chance asks the MC "can I have this" or "can I come" and he never actually does anything other than taking stuff... So far we haven't seen him do a single fight or anything other than beg the MC for stuff... The MC is going treasure hunting, he annoys MC until he gets to go, he f*cks up at the first chance and could have gotten everyone killed, his f*ck up is never mentioned again... This seems to be a common theme in chinese martial arts novels like this one... there is always one character who is a typical underling of the MC who hides behind his shadow while taunting people and just being a prick... I never understand why authors feel the need to add these characters... <<less

To summarize, it's a story of an ancient being, like thousands millions old grandpa starting his journey of face-slapping and massacre after he regains his mortal body, a very common 18-years old young man. Because of this "casing", he was looked down almost every time and everywhere, especially when he entered a new place. Then, his arrogance, which is higher than the sky, will anger many people and he will slap them all, many to death, and end up being on top. After that he will go to a new... more>> place and the cycle repeats.

Well, despite of the repetition, I like this story. It can be boring, but no unnecessary politics or harem drama, and the face-slapping are great. Mind that even if this story has loads of beauties, most of them ends up as MC's maids or disciples with almost no love interest. <<less
