Elevator

Don’t know since when there was a box inside the elevator in the corridor.

An ordinary cardboard box, a bit large, placed neatly against the wall in the corner of the elevator and occupied nearly a quarter of the space.

The box wasn’t sealed shut.

It was dark inside, who knows what was inside of it.

A word of warning, there's a small scene where the MC is r*ped. I thought I'd mention it since the tags don't. Also, the BD*M is implied but never explicitly shown, so I'm not sure the tag is warranted. (They've been fixed)

With that out of the way, let's move onto the review.

I haven't read much, if any, horror before, but I decided to give this a try. I'm not sure how I feel about it in the end. I'll have to use the spoiler function a lot to break... more>> it down clearly.

The plot was definitely thrilling and I suppose an ending like that is something one would usually expect from a horror/thriller/psychological combination, but I can't say I'm satisfied with it.

Our MC works as a DJ at a radio station. One day he starts seeing apparitions and things go downhill for him from there. Just for the way things ended for him, I'm wondering if the tragedy genre should be added even if

Spoiler

the MC doesn't die.

[collapse]

Though the way everything was explained was interesting, the plot twist was unfortunately obvious due to the

Spoiler

twins tag here.

[collapse]

Also, it's still not properly explained why the MC took a certain big step. Heavy spoilers coming ahead for the first few chapters:

Spoiler

MC had a boyfriend who was an avid sad*st who exercised those tendencies on the MC in bed. MC killed his boyfriend long before the beginning of the story and apparently the trigger was that the boyfriend mentioned getting married. Later, the MC starts seeing his boyfriend everywhere and freaks out badly.

Now, I'm not sure how much of his reaction was because he thought his boyfriend came back to haunt him and how much is due to genuine trauma left over from their relationship. We're barely shown a hint of their first time, which didn't look like it went well for the MC. But I don't understand why the MC didn't just get away from him if he hated it so much. Was the boyfriend threatening or blackmailing him to stay? It didn't feel like it and nothing like that was mentioned. So why mu*der him instead of just rejecting him? The MC didn't seem like a psychopath who enjoyed killing.

[collapse]

The ending as I mentioned wasn't very neat or satisfactory. I'm still unsure in which state the MC was at the end.

Spoiler

He basically seemed mindbroken and definitely in no state for consenting to a marriage, but it's all so vague that I could be misunderstanding it. I definitely don't like that the bad guy wins in the end though, but maybe that's common in this genre?

[collapse]

All in all, it does the horror and psychological aspects well but leaves a lot of things vague and unexplained. I'm guessing I'm not the intended audience for this story. If you aren't the sort to mind the details or look for a proper HEA in this genre, then you might enjoy it. <<less

This is a short story, there are only 13 chapters and an ending. The horror is pretty good, they are both crazy. Yep this novel is a happy ending, umm, yeah, HE

A short story completely worthy to read if you're into psychological-twisted-horror kind of stories.

There is NSFW scenes not that much clearly described but maybe some people won't like the wording or people involved. Just a heads-up.

The twist was way too good. I imagined lot of things but I never thought like there was twin who literally did so much planning to make him (MC) sick in head. Like damn so much patience and work he did and actually got success.

Anyways for short story it was really amazingly and beautifully explained, written and described. There wasn't too much not less it was just appropriate spices. Worth a read guys definitely recommended! <<less

Damn that plot twist caught me off guard.

Good story for how short it is.

Not much emotional attachment to the characters bec of the length but I still felt sad for our poor MC...

HE for ML; BE for our MC, although it might look like a neutral HE, his feelings are indicative of a trauma response.

although some of you may say thay this is a HE, i'll refute that and change the phrase to a HE for the ML and a BE for the MC. I can't tell what the MC's exact state of mind was during the last few chapters but I'm pretty sure he ain't happy, and he surely isn't sober. However, for those that do like endings that are vaguely like this, you've struck gold I guess?

A short psychohorror story that does a good job building tension and making you feel like you're losing your mind along with the MC. The ending does feel a bit abrupt though, with an unmentioned timeskip and a lot left out.

My whole core is so shocked.

Spoiler

I can't believe the ending part. I really thought that thus is some kind of necrophilic story, ya know? I was prepared for the worst lol. Here I thought he was actually doing it with a corpse. Good thing that he is not. Whew, wipes sweat.

This is a really good read and even tho it is short, it is written in thrilling sequence. Very much worth it the time I've spent!

It was good. The plot twist was really a plot twist. I really liked how the author organized the flow of the story. It's still dark and twisted but the flow was really good.

I absolutely don't watch horror movie deliberately and shut my eyes to those scenes. I'm scared for real. But well since it's written and short, I was curious and gave it a try.

I was ok until chapter 10. To me few last chapters revealed scarier 😱...I guess evil mind made me felt more uncomfortable than ghost 👻 Well if you like horror kind novel or movie... yes it's recommended.

It is a story well worth reading on a rainy afternoon or any other. You come across very interesting twists and turns. The mystery and suspense are recreated to give you goose bumps. Although there were several gaps in the story in the end, you're not necessarily curious about it.
Anyway, I totally recommend it.
